Hi,
I have .net3.5 SP1 and VS 2008 SP1 installed in my machine. But what should I further install to create an Entity framework project. Is there any other add ons that is needed?
A while back a found a great-looking framework that allowed .net developers to implement a virtual file system. I thought I had bookmarked it, but it seems I haven't.
Does anyone know any frameworks for doing this?
EDIT: Here's a hint... It had a catchy, short name and it's own domain. Sorry, that's all I can remember :p
I guess the title contains my whole question. How can I draw a string onto an image in Flash and .NET/GDI+ respectively and gain the same result? (I'm not a Flash programmer myself and it is rather hard to find out about what kind of unit Flash uses by googling for something like "flash font size"...) Ekeforshus
Like, if I write a program on windows using C# and the .NET framework, then drop the code on a Linux machine running mono, will it run exactly the same? Or would I have to rewrite it to work with Mono's libraries?
Hi Guys!!
I am reading data and filling a data set and want to return xml, in a .net web service.
so far I am trying to use
return mydataset.getxml();
but it is not helping as my method return type is "DataSet"
so is there any way I can get a well formatted xml.
Thanks
Like dude wtf I'm learning WPF and LINQ and all this cool crap but it's all 3.0+ stuff is that pretty widespread deployed by now these days?
Also let's say it can't run but they got like 1.1 or 2.0... will it auto-say "Click here to upgrade to latest .NET!"?
Is there a quick way to check whether a path I have is on a local disk or somewhere on the network? I can't just check to see if it's a drive letter vs. UNC, because that would incorrectly identify mapped drives as local. I assumed it would be a boolean in the DirectoryInfo object, but it appears that it's not.
I've found classic VB code to do this check (through an API), but nothing for .NET so far.
How do I get my .NET Winforms app 2.0 to automatically update it's publish revision integer subsequent to issuing the publish command from within VS08.
Trying to use the following C# as a guide
object[] attrs =
System.Reflection.Assembly.GetEntryAssembly().GetCustomAttributes(true);
foreach (object o in attrs)
if (o.GetType() == typeof(System.Reflection.AssemblyFileVersionAttribute))
label1.Text = ((System.Reflection.AssemblyFileVersionAttribute) o).Version;
Hai guys,
I ve developed a salary calculating software using vb.net.... Its working fine and i ve converted it to an exe file... My drawback is it can be copied and pasted in another system very easily... I want to generate a key for the exe file and while installing the key should be used and when installation is completed ,the key should not be used again... Is this ya secured one or give me some ideas how it can be done....
With alle the new paralell programming features in .NET 4.0, what would be a a simple and fast way to implement the producer-consumer pattern (where at least one thread is producing/enqueuing task items and another thread executes/dequeues these tasks). Can we benfit from all these new APIs? What is your preferred implementation of this pattern?
Hi Folks, does it matter if we install .net framework & then visual studio or does visual studio comes with the framework ?
I know it's a basic question but i never thought of this honestly.
TIA
I am looking for a Java equivalent to .NET's Snippet Compiler. Is there any such utility out there? That or a really light weight Java IDE for Windows? Eclipse and NetBeans seem too heavy-weight to practice basic syntax.
Hello,
How do I create non visual components in .NET that can be dragged and dropped onto a Form ?
For example the imagelist component is a non visual component, it appears in the toolbox and can be dragged onto a form and properties can be set for that component.
How can I achieve that ? How can I create non visual components. I know about user controls but that is not what I am looking for.
Thank you
i am publishing an app in vb.net. it's creating setup.exe and a folder called application files. i am told that setup.exe is stand alone and does not need any other files. is this right? because when i put setup.exe in a different directory it says that some files are missing.
i have some picture files that were included in a vb.net project
how do i reference those files in my code?
what it be just filename.ext
or would it be project/filename.ext
or would it be something like environment.getfolderpath.project/filename.ext??
the build action is NONE, and it is to be copied to output folder
Need Help in converting this to VB.NET
public void GetCustomers(Action<IEnumerable<Customer>> onSuccess, Action<Exception> onFail)
{
Manager.Customers.ExecuteAsync(op =>
{
if (op.CompletedSuccessfully)
{
if (onSuccess != null)
onSuccess(op.Results);
}
else
{
if (onFail != null)
{
op.MarkErrorAsHandled();
onFail(op.Error);
}
}
}
);
}
There are many Logging frameworks for .NET, from simple Debug.WriteLine and Trace to Log4Net, Logging application block, NLOg and others.
Which one do you use or recommend, and why?
Also, which one would you recommend to NOT use, and why?
Hi there,
I'm in the need for a SCP library (free or commercial) to be used in a .Net3.5 project. I've already had a look at SharpSSH but it lacks the a couple of basic features (like enumerating all files in a remote directory). Do you know a good, solid and cheap library?
With plain old sdl in C i would copy the dlls i need into the exe directory and was able to run without install.
Now i am using sdl.net. I tried doing that but had no luck. Not even a clue to what dlls are missing as i did in the old C way. How can i have users run my sdl app without installation?
Hi there,
I need to create a .Net windows service to monitor a mailbox and process attachments (if found) on the emails and then delete the email from the server.
I have two questions I'd like your thoughts on:
POP3 or IMAP to connect to the mail server?
Which POP3/IMAP library should I use. At this stage we're just doing a proof of concept, so a free one would be my preference.
Cheers!
Hi to all.
I need a free library (or not too expensive) for .NET to work with the excel document. I need to read data, modify, save and add charts into the document.
Or in another way, I need a free library for creating and inserting charts into the excel document (only for charts).
I have found FlexCel and SmartXLS, but FlexCel doesn't support the charts (can't create), while SmartXLS has a small functionality.
Thanks for any help.
this is my function for plotting a graph in vb.net how I'm going to replace the ("Jon", 10),("Jordan", 30) with a value that i search from database ?
Private Sub chart_btn_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles chart_btn.Click
Chart1.Series("Student").Points.AddXY("Jon", 10)
Chart1.Series("Student").Points.AddXY("Jon", 10)
Chart1.Series("Student").ChartType = System.Windows.Forms.DataVisualization.Charting.SeriesChartType.Bar
End Sub
I need to calculate averages, standard deviations, medians etc for a bunch of numerical data. Is there a good open source .NET library I can use? I have found NMath but it is not free and may be overkill for my needs.
