  Glenn Versweyveld, @Depechie, blogged about Twitter Integration in Windows 8. The post describes how to use WinRtAuthorizer to perform OAuth authentication with LINQ to Twitter. If you’re using LINQ to Twitter with Windows 8, the WinRtAuthorizer is definitely the way to go. It lets you perform the entire OAuth dance with a single method call, which is a huge time savings and simplification of your code.   I have a Czech registered business with which I'm serving a web app mostly (but not exclusively) targeted to Italian customers. The server is in Amsterdam. The site will be multilingual (with 4 languages supported) but for now it's Italian only. What language should the privacy policy and terms and conditions be? What law should they refer to? Could I just offer these two docs in English? (Easier to write and to maintain)

  I was looking for an alternative animated images to Animated GIFS. But per CanIUseit support for APNGs seems to being phased out. And MNG support isn't even listed there and pages about it don't even mention Chrome (suggesting those pages are very very old) Clarification: This is for a web app, so it'll need to support: - Safari on iPad (so can't depend on extensions) - Chrome on Windows and Mac - Safari 6.0+ on Mac - Chrome on Android

• Ubuntu One and iPad

  I have installed the Ubuntu One app for my iPad 3 running iOS 6. It runs and asked to access my pictures folder on the iPad, which I granted. Now it just displays a splash screen for the Ubuntu One but does not seem to be doing anything else. I can't figure out how to get it to see my regular Ubuntu One account that I have had for the last few years and use regularly between various Ubuntu computers I have.

• Some Oracle VM 3 updates

  Today we did another patch set update for Oracle VM 3 (3.0.3-build 227). This can be downloaded from My Oracle Support as patch ID 14736185. There are quite a few updates in here and I highly recommend any Oracle VM 3 customer or user to install this update. This patch can be installed on top of Oracle VM 3.0 versions 3.0.2 and 3.0.3. The patch is cumulative for 3.0.3. So if you already installed patch update 1 (3.0.3-150) then this will just be incremental on top of that and brings you to 3.0.3-build 227. There is a readme file which contains the patchlist in the patch info. These utils can be unzipped and installed on the server running Oracle VM Manager. Typically in /u01/app/oracle/ovm-manager-3/ovm_utils. There is a set of man pages in /u01/app/oracle/ovm-manager-3/ovm_utils/man/man8. There now are 6 commands : ovm_vmcontrol : VM level operations ovm_servercontrol : server level operations ovm_vmdisks : virtual disk/physical location mapping for VM disks ovm_vmmessage : message passing utility between the manager and the VM tools (in the Oracle VM templates) ovm_repocontrol : repository level operations ovm_poolcontrol : pool level operations Some of the new changes : at a pool level, acknowledge events and cascade to servers and virtual machines with outstanding events at a pool level, do a rescan of the storage for fibrechannel/iscsi disks if you add new devices (it does this operation then on every running server) at a repository level, fixup a device if it had a failed create repository at a repository level, refresh the repository and this will update the free space in the UI for ocfs2 repositories at a server level, acknowledge server events and cascade to virtual machines if needed at a VM level, acknowledge VM events at a VM level, bind vcpus to cores with vcpuset/vcpuget Please see the man pages and remember that these tools are just written As Is - no SRs... (per the documentation) Hopefully they are useful.

• Problem using Skype Screenshare on dual monitors

  I am on Ubuntu 12.04 and when using the screenshare feature of Skype 4.0 on a single monitor I dont have an issue. However as soon as i switch to using dual monitors and try to set up a screenshare, it doesn't work. Does anyone know if this is a known bug in the Skype app? Thanks. Apparently Skype's log files are encrypted, and they recommend just sending the log files to them so that they can determine how to resolve the issue.

• Resources relating to Java EE and Scala

  Are there any good sites / blogs / books / articles on using Java EE together with Scala? Or indeed articles saying that it should not be done. Many Scala resources talk about using Akka and Lift. Akka solves a different domain problem than Java EE. I don't know Lift, but I assume its geared towards the web end of Java EE and doesn't replace app server containers which provide transactions, security, scalability, resource management, reliability, etc. (all those things which Java EE markets itself as being good at).

• Design non-windowed Gtk.Frame in Glade

  I'm building a ToDo app for personal porpouses, and I'm using Quickly and Glade for this. I want it to desplay a list of the pending to-do elements. The problem I'm having is that I can't find the way to create a single Frame (not inside another window) with some other widgets inside to dinamically add them to a VBox that I already have created in Glade. Is there a way to do it or do I have to create the Frame in the code?

• iOS UITab Bar Icons

  I’ve been struggling trying to create the icons that are used for different tabs on an iPhone app. The difficulty is, is that each image is a PNG,  but alpha channels are used to represent their selected state.   Office Web App is the online version of Microsoft Office 2010 which is very helpful if you are going to use SharePoint 2010 in your organization as it allows you to do basic editing of word document without installing the Office Suite in the client machine. Prerequisites : - Microsoft Server 2008 R2 - Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 or Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010 - Microsoft Office Web Apps. If you have installed all the above products, just follow this steps: 1. Go to Central Administration > Click on Manage Service Application. 2. All the menus are not displayed in ribbon Menu format which was first introduced in Office 2007. Click on New > Word Viewing Services ( You can choose PowerPoint or Excel also, steps are same ). This will open a pop window. Adding Services for Office Web Apps 3. Give a Proper Name which can have your companies or project name. 4. Under Application Pool select : SharePoint Web Services Default. 5. Next keep the check box checked which says : Add this service application’s proxy to the farm’s default proxy list. Click Ok Adding Word Viewer as Service Application Office Web Apps as Services in Sharepoint 2010 6. This will install all the Office Web App services required. You can see the name as you gave in the above step. How to Activate Office Web Apps in Site Collection? 1. Go to the site for which you want to activate this feature. 2. Click on Site Action > Site Settings > Site Collection Administrator > Site Collection Features 3. Activate Office Web Apps. Activate Office Web Apps Feature in Site Collection How to make sure Office Web Apps is working for your site collection? 1. Locate any office document you have and click on the smart menu which appears when you hover your mouse on it. Dont double-click as this will launch the document in Office Client if its installed. This feature can be changed. 2. If you see View or Edit in Browser as menu item, your Office Web Apps is configured correctly.   EJB Named criteria are predefined and reusable where-clause definitions that are dynamically applied to a ViewObject query. Here we often use to filter the ViewObject SQL statement query based on Where Clause conditions.Take a scenario where we need to filter the SQL statements query based on Where Clause conditions, instead of playing with SQL statements use the EJB Named Criteria which is supported by default in ADF and set the Bind Variable parameter at run time.You can download the sample workspace from here [Runs with Oracle JDeveloper 11.1.2.0.0 (11g R2) + HR Schema] Implementation StepsCreate Java EE Web Application with entity based on Employees table, then create a session bean and data control for the session bean.Open the DataControls.dcx file and create sparse xml for as shown below. In sparse xml navigate to Named criteria tab -> Bind Variable section, create binding variable deptId. Now create a named criteria and map the query attributes to the bind variable.
