• Flex 4.5 - to long build process

  We are developing an app using flex 4.5. The app runs just fine (no performance issues at all) but it takes us forever to compile and build it. A minor change, like just add a comment or press enter in an mxml file and rebuild takes about 3 minutes. You just cant work that way. It is a large project with about 1300 files. We also use Parsley as IOC container and a beat of cairngorm navigation. We also use Maven (Flex mojos) but I am talking about a normal eclipse build (Ctrl + B). We separated some of the code to a different SWC and all of our graphics are stored in a different resource SWF. Please, Do you have any suggestions? Regards, Ido

• I cannot get this Jquery Image ComboBox to Work

  Im trying to use this plugin: http://www.marghoobsuleman.com/jquery-image-dropdown I cannot get it to work in my file. I copied and pasted the code from the example files and made the necessary links to the js and css files just to test, and i still cant get it to work.   With all the recent hype about JavaScript and HTML5 replacing Flash, I wanted to know - How would it be possible to protect client-side js code? Of course, it is possible to obfuscate it, but that would only make it a little harder. Also, for games which submit high scores to the server, wouldn't it be incredibly easy to modify those scores before they are sent to the server? I know even Flash files can be decompiled, but they can be obfuscated and flash decompilation is not as easy as modifying data in JS - could be done easily using a plugin such as Firebug. I'd like to know everyone's views on this.

I am using the Requestmap concept by storing each role, user and requestmap inside the database only... Now my requirement is to provide the menu items based on the users assigned roles... For e.g.: If my "User" Main Menu have following Items : Dashboard Import User Manage User And if I have assigned a roles of Dashboard and Import User to the user with a username "auditor" then, only following Menu items should be displayed on the screen : User (Main Menu) - Dashboard (sub menu) - Import User (sub menu) I have explored the Spring Security ACL plugin for the same, but it's using the Domain classes to get it working...   Hi. I have some web services and I am creating a web client using ws-import. When creating the client I have this line: MyServiceService service = new MyServiceService(); It works fine as it is. I have the same web services running on another server and I was wondering if I could access them using the same client. Is it possible to change the wsdl url of the client? Ctrl-Space in Eclipse gives me 2 parameters which I can enter into MyServiceService which are URL arg0 and Qname arg1. Is this what I'm looking for? And if this is the case what should I put in Qname since I didn't find any Javadoc associated and didn't find it on google neither Thanks and regards, Krt_Malta

• Jquery Ajaxform with input type=file and multifile

  Im using ajax form with multifile. However ajaxform just seems to quietly die and does not do anything if using multifile. Multifile is just a jquery plugin that builds a list of input type=file so that you can upload multiple files at once, before which you can add/delete your file upload list. I've looked at multifile and made one change to ensure that it generated a unique name as well as id which it didn't do before and i've checked the form elements multifile is building which all appear to be correct. From looking at ajaxform, it seems that it shoulld just generate the iframe as normal and post the multiple input type=file but it does nothing. Has anyone else experienced problems with multiple input type=file uploads

  For a custom wiki django-wakawaka, i want to be able to add a WYSIWYG support. TinyMCE is obviously the most popular plugin, used even by Wordpress. But CK-editor seems more feature full. Those who have used either of these or both, which is better and why. Are there some better packages, that I am missing? Is there something that I am missing when I conclude CKeditor is better, by going through them (because it is not as widely used). I want to use it with django and jquery, with multiple instances of WYSIWYG widget per page. Does one offer advantage over the other.

Please change the package definition's name inside this file, or move the file. • Is it possible to reference object within the same object?

  I've been messing around with jQuery plugin code and I'm trying to put all of my common variables into a single object for easy access. I have included a few examples below on how I've done this, but I'm wondering how others deal with this problem. Lets say I have this var x = function(options){ var defaults = { ulist : $('ul#list'), listLen : $('ul#list').children().length } $.extend(options, defaults); // do other stuff } What I'm trying to do is use the ulist object in as a base, then find the number of li's I guess I could do this: var x = function(options){ var defaults = { ulist : $('ul#list'), listLen : 0 } defaults.listLen = defaults.ulist.children().length; $.extend(options, defaults); // do other stuff } or this: var x = function(options){ var defaults = { ulist : $('ul#list') }; var defaults2 = { listLen : defaults.ulist.children().length } $.extend(defaults, defaults2); $.extend(options, defaults); // do other stuff } The above code samples are just thrown together, and only meant to get the idea across to you. Anyway, is there a better way to do this?

• Vim: multi-file editing - having different makes in different splits

  I'm a recent vim convert (from fancy IDEs like eclipse.) I love the :make command in vim and use it extensively; however I also like to edit multiple projects (with separate makefiles.) So usually to edit more than one project I will do pushd project1 vim project1.cpp [suspend signal] pushd ../project2 vim project2.cpp and now I can switch between the two projects with ctrl+z i.e. suspend signal, and fg. When this becomes an issue is when I want to open one project in the context of another so I can do copy/pasting. So if instead in the above I do pushd project1 vim project1.cpp :vsp ../project2/project2.cpp I can edit both concurrently in the same vim process, however I can't effectively build one or the other with the :make command, it will only build project 1. Does anyone have some kind of scheme that gives them the best of both worlds: being able to edit concurrently while still being able to build multiple projects with the :make command all from the same vim process?

  I'm going to say upfront, please forgive me. I'm a newbie to android development and fairly new to programming. Also on a Mac. You're going to have to talk...real...slow. I can't get an AVD to load. I've tried it from Eclipse and from the Android SDK Manager. Failed multiple times. Received the same error each time, "Failed to parse properties from Users/myname/.android/avd/nameIGaveEmulator/config.ini." I've the forum here and saw that others have had similar problems, but of the answers given, no one came back to say if they worked, and I don't see anyone with a similar problem on a Mac. If the path needs to be "changed" what exactly does that mean and how do I go about doing so?

• Seam app with JBoss 'minimal' Config?

  I'd like to improve the performance of my Seam apps and JBoss appserver, particularly by removing things that aren't necessary in the standard configuration. Ideally, I'd like to be able to run it using the "minimal" profile. Can anyone give me any guidance as to what is needed to run a Seam app using "minimal"? Here are the kind of things my app requires: JPA, using Hibernate with a PostgreSQL backend EJB3 JSF (RichFaces/Facelets) E-mail, eventually, although not required at this particular moment I'll be developing my app using JBoss Tools on Eclipse, so I would also need anything that is required by the tools for development and deployment. I've found that the default configuration just has too many additional components and features installed by default, and that greatly affects performance when I'm trying to develop. Any help you can give would be great! Thanks!

In Java IDE such as Eclipse, if I do not know the classname in a package, I can just type a dot (.) after a package name, then I will get a list of all the classes in that package in the IDE. How I can configure visual studio to do the similar thing, say, if I click a namespace name in a file (for example, using System), or add a dot after the namespace, all the classes in that namespace will be displayed somewhere in the IDE?

• How to make WPF app work as a child process in Citrix

  I am working on a 3rd party application that allows plugins to be written in .NET 1.1. I have decided I would like to write my plugin in a seperate process that is called from the .NET 1.1 application (achieved using Process.Start). This is fine- I create a new process that is a WPF app. When I launch this through MSTSC everything works as expected, however when I run the app through Citrix, the WPF child app fails to render correctly, and the mouse position starts going crazy- the child process window is basically not usable. Is there a way to avoid this happening? If I create a seperate WPF application and deploy this through Citrix everything works fine. If I create a child Windows forms app in .NET 3.5, that also works fine.

• What benefits can Java developer have moving to a *NIX platform?

  Hi everyone, A friend of mine is a Java developer, who's using *NIX for ages. He claims that *NIX is for real Java geeks, whereas WIN is for dummies (and I'm one of them, according to him) and girls. When I ask him to argue his position, and explain, what's so good for Java developer on *NIX, he starts talking about console, wget, curl and grep. But sorry, wget and curl analogues exist for the WIN platform as well. As for the console - I'm using FAR Commander, and have access to the command line when I need. Moreover, even if I decide moving to *NIX, I will certainly use Netbeans or Eclipse there, so there will be no big difference. Guys, who use Java on *NIX, could you please give me a real killer examples, when *NIX (any util or technique) dramatically increases Java development productivity (in the way the hints are given in "The Pragmatic Programmer"), or, which is also important, gives more fun from the process.   I was just curious what coding standards people followed. I for one use the following: Brackets ALWAYS go on the next line. For instance: int main() { //Blah... } I never use code folding. (Yes my IDE's do support it (Xcode and Eclipse). Put related functions/methods single-spaced, otherwise double space. Here is an example: int foo = 0; printf("%d",foo); those are related while these are not: printf("Hello, World!"); return(0); I don't put else statements on the same line as the closing bracket for the preceding if statement. Most of the time in Java if a program needs multiple try catch statements I will just put the whole thing in one try catch.

• Key Value Observation (ala Cocoa) in GWT ?

  Hi all, There are these 2 frameworks out there in the same "cloud application" space as GWT: Sproutcore and Cappuccino. Cappuccino is Cocoa for the web, Sproutcore is Cocoa-like and one very central idea in both is Key Value Observation where the framework itself provides the glue to change all dependencies of an object when it changes, and you only have to declare those dependencies. If that was too poorly expressed please see this presentation: http://www.infoq.com/presentations/subelsky-sproutcore-intro Since the pattern reduces the amount of code you type it reduces the number of bugs. Maybe it's too much to ask but I would like to have that and all the benefits of Eclipse/compiler that come with GWT. Is there support for this in GWT, or a library already developed? • Using PUT/POST/DELETE with JSONP and jQuery

  I am working on creating a RESTful API that supports cross-domain requests, JSON/JSONP support, and the main HTTP method (PUT/GET/POST/DELETE). Now while will be easy to accessing this API through server side code , it would nice to exposed it to javascript. From what I can tell, when doing a JSONP requests with jQuery, it only supports the GET method. Is there a way to do a JSONP request using POST/PUT/DELETE? Ideally I would like a way to do this from within jQuery (through a plugin if the core does not support this), but I will take a plain javascript solution too. Any links to working code or how to code it would be helpful, thanks.

• Adding custom validator without using Zend_Form's addElementPrefixPath

  The problem is that I don't use Zend_Form, so I can't use the built in capabilities. I usually look for three things when setting a validator: - its path (usually in library/path/validators/MyValidator.php) - its class name (tried Validators_MyValidator) and - in application.ini, the autoloaderNamespaces[] = "Validators" I've tried different settings/namings/layouts to no avail. When using a validator in my Zend_Validate_Input, an exception occurs, saying that it couldn't find my plugin/validator, the classes being searched only in Zend/Validate with the Zend_Validate prefix (I didn't try this prefix, though). Wasn't there a setting in app.ini that added a prefix and a path?
