  • Naming conventions for private members of .NET types

    Normally when I have a private field inside a class or a struct, I use camelCasing, so it would be obvious that it's indeed private when you see the name of it, but in some of my colleagues' C# code, I see that they use m_ mostly or sometimes _, like there is some sort of convention. Aren't .NET naming conventions prevent you from using underscores for member names? And when you mention the MS naming conventions or what not, they tell you it's the best way, but don't explain the reasoning behind it.

    Does anyone have any recommendations for plotting scientific data in .net (c# winforms). Some of my requirements are: real time plotting, 3D (waterfall), multiple axis, ability to accept BindingList as a data source and recognize any changes to the data. I also need a high level of user interactivity such as the ability to graphically select 1 or more series, draw regions. highlight part of a series, etc. So far I've looked at Nevron, Synchfusion, Infragistics, TeeChart and a few others.

  • SQL Command Result to Dictionary C# .NET 2.0

    I have a simple SQL query (using SqlCommand, SqlTransaction) in .NET 2.0 that returns a table of integer-string pairs (ID, Name). I want to get this data into a dictionary like Dictionary. I can get the result into a DataTable, but even iterating over it, I'm not sure how to do the typing and all that stuff. I feel like this must be a common problem but I haven't found any good solutions. Thanks in advance.

  • .net Listview control will only display largeIcon.

    I'm using the RC of visual Studio 2010. Writing a .net 3.5 application. When I launch the app, the listview control only shows in LargeIcon view. This is not the view I want. I've set the View property in the designer with no success. I've even tried to explicitly set the view during runtime lvAvailableItems.View = View.Tile; Has anyone else had this issue, and if so what was your workaround.

    I've thrown together some code to tinker with the new .Net 4.0/VS 2010 pieces, but I can't seem to find a build of my logging framework of choice (log4net) for 4.0, and I'm getting reference errors with the 2.0 version. Is there a 4.0 version available somewhere? I'm not asking for new features, just a version that's already been rebuilt against the new assemblies. Anyone know where I can find a build of 1.2.10 built for the 4.0 framework?

  • VB.NET: how to require CheckedListBox to have at least one item selected in WinForms

    With the CheckListBox in VB.NET in VS2005, how would you make it compulsory that at least one item is selected? Can you select one of the items at design time to make it the default? EDIT: How can I make it so the last item the user tries to uncheck is the one that stays checked? So it's like the user tries to uncheck the only checked item but can't because it checks back straightaway.

    I am converting a large project in VB.NET that is using Option Strict Off into Option Strict On Naturally I am running into the same compilation error over and over. Strict On does not allow implicit conversion from Object to String/Integer/Double Is it possible to to access the compilation errors with a macro and automatically append .ToString() to the erroneous implicit conversion.     Hi I have two assemblies, A and B, where A depends on B. I'm trying to obfuscate both of them together, i.e. in a way it doesn't break the app with the babel obfuscator. Is there a way to do that? Apparently this obfuscator doesn't handle multiple assemblies. If that's an issue, which other .NET obfuscator- that handles multiple assemblies- would you recommend?
