• Why can't I resize some virtual thick disks in VMWhare vSphere Client

  Let me start off by mentioning I am really really new to this whole VMWare ESX/vSphere thing, so apologies if this is a FAQ or asked a million times before using better wording. Also, please correct me if I'm using the wrong terms all over the place. We just got this brand new VMWare EXS server, and we started importing virtual machines from around the office. Some of them were originally based on VMWare, others are converted from MS Virtual Server. One of these machines needs a bigger disk, but in the vSphere Client the disk size spinedit is disabled. Disk type is thick. However, for other machines, with the same disk type, the spinedit is enabled and I can happily resize their disks. So here is the question: why can't I resize this disk in particular? All machines are freshly converted, so I assume there are no snapshots yet, which I read would stop a resize from happening (again, correct me if I'm wrong).

  I have this very simple C++ class: class Tree { public: Node *head; }; BOOST_PYTHON_MODULE(myModule) { class_<Tree>("Tree") .def_readwrite("head",&Tree::head) ; } I want to access the head variable from Python, but the message I see is: No to_python (by-value) converter found for C++ type: Node* From what I understand, this happens because Python is freaking out because it has no concept of pointers. How can I access the head variable from Python? I understand I should use encapsulation, but I'm currently stuck with needing a non-encapsulation solution.

• What is the most simple implementation of IDynamicMetaObjectProvider?

  Hi, I have this scenario... 1.- I'm providing a "Dynamic Table" for wich users can define Fields. Each Dynamic Table will have as many rows/records as needed, but the Field definitions are centralized. 2.- My Dynamic Row/Record class was inherited from the .NET DLR DynamicObject class, and the underlying storage was a List appropriately associated to the defining fields. Everything works fine! BUT... 3.- Because I need to Serialize the content, and DynamicObject is not Serializable, I was forced to generate and carry a Dynamic Object when dynamic member access is required. But this is ugly and redundant. So, I need to implement IDynamicMetaObjectProvider myself to achieve dynamic access and serialization together. After googling/binging unsuccessfully I ask for your help... Can anybody please give a good example (or related link) for doing that?

• Hosted Mac OS X/iPhone development

  I want to try my hand at developing for the iPhone but I don't have an Intel-based Mac available to me; likewise, my budget doesn't include provisions for getting one anytime soon. I've tried messing around with winchain and that hasn't gone too well. I'm not interested in jail-breaking my phone and installing other tools for developing. I've read posts on using older macs with the development tool-kit but haven't tried it yet. In the end I just want to know I can compile without doing a ton of extra work or finding work-arounds. I don't mind only having access to a CLI compiler. Does anyone know of a hosting service that provides a shell access account on Intel-based Mac OS X machines?

• PHP Filter, how to filter input array

  I am using PHP filter to perfom basic sanitization and validation of form data. The principle problem I am having is that I mark my form up so that all the data is in one array for the POST input. e.g. form fields, page[name], page[slug], page[body], page[status], etc. Using the following: filter_input(INPUT_POST, 'page[name]', FILTER_SANITIZE_STRING); OR filter_input(INPUT_POST, "page['name']", FILTER_SANITIZE_STRING); I am unable to access the variable. Can someone please tell me the correct name to use to access array data using filter_input()

  If I have a production server with the Mail Store Foo in both the storage group companyName and the Recovery Storage Group, is it okay to Mount Foo in the RSG while it is mounted in companyName so I can extract some mailboxs from the recovery storage group? Basically I am wonder if it is okay to mount it in both Production and the Recovery Storage Groups while the mail server is in production and the particular mail store is in production. • How do I unescape HTML entities in a string in Python 3.1?

  I have looked all around and only found solutions for python 2.6 and earlier, NOTHING on how to do this in python 3.X. (I only have access to Win7 box.) I HAVE to be able to do this in 3.1 and preferably without external libraries. Currently, I have httplib2 installed and access to command-prompt curl (that's how I'm getting the source code for pages). Unfortunately, curl does not decode html entities, as far as I know, I couldn't find a command to decode it in the documentation. YES, I've tried to get Beautiful Soup to work, MANY TIMES without success in 3.X. If you could provide EXPLICIT instructions on how to get it to work in python 3 in MS Windows environment, I would be very grateful. So, to be clear, I need to turn strings like this: Suzy &amp; John into a string like this: "Suzy & John".

• Using GIT Smart HTTP via IIS

  I recently read Scott Chacon's post "Smart HTTP Transport", and I was hoping that it might have become possible via IIS (windows 7) since that post was written. I haven't been able to find anything showing how it can be done, and Apache is not an option in my IIS 7 based environment. So, I'm at a loss (git daemon was foiled for me by a combination of AVG anti-virus and AD). I want to provide LDAP authenticated read/write access for selected users. So this question seems not to be relevant. Do you know of a way to provide access to GIT via IIS?

  Hi, I'm using MS TMG 2010 Standard as my single firewall to publish my Exchange Server and IIS website to the internet, however it is just one VM in the DMZ network with just one network card (vNIC), what sort of redundancy method that is suitable for making this firewall VM redundant / automatically failover in my DR site ? Because it is very important in the event of disaster recovery all important email through various mobile device will still need to operate and it is impossible if this TMG 2010 VM is offline. is it by using: 1. Multicast NLB 2. Any other clustering 3. VMware HA / FT (one VM in production, the other VM in DR site with different subnet ?) Any suggestion and idea willl be appreciated. Thanks

• Calling a native callback from managed .NET code (when loading the managed code using COM)

  Hi, I am really confused by the multitude of misinformation about native / managed interop. I have a C++ exe which is NOT built using CLR stuff (it is not Managed C++ or C++/CLI and never will be). I would like to access some code I have in a C# assembly. I can access the C# assembly using COM. However, when my C# code detects an event I would like it to call back into my C++ code. The C++ function pointer to call back into will be provided at runtime. Note that the C++ function pointer is a function found in the exe's execution environment. I don't want the managed code to try and load up some DLL to call a function (there is no DLL). How do I pass this C++ function pointer to my C# code through .NET and have my C# code successfully call it? Thanks!

• Exchange 2007 ignoring Send Connectors (again)

  Wow, I'm at a loss here -- I posted this exact same question a while back and it's doing the exact same thing: my Send Connector I've created for "Microsoft Domains" (hotmail.com cost 1) is being ignored again and routed through the "Default" Send Connector (* cost 10). Last time, I had the same cost for both Send Connectors, but I've tried setting the Default connector to 5, 10, 100, etc. and regardless, all mail gets routed through that connector (which smarthosts through Postini). Besides calling an air strike on Redmond, what else can I do? MS is blocking Postini again, need to get this working permanently.

  I am working on a custom web part for Project Web Access, for Project Server 2007. We are so far using PSI web services only to read and write data from and to Project Server 2007 databases. But there is a signinficant performance issue when you retrieve time phased data through Statusing web service, it is basically an expensive call for querying time phased data for each tasks. I want to access Time phased data entered by user for each tasks by directly hitting the Project Server Database. [ I do not want the solution suggested at this link : http://blogs.msdn.com/project_programmability/archive/2007/05/24/getting-at-the-task-time-phased-data.aspx as it reads data from reporting database which gets entry only after the project is published. ] I want to get time phased data as soon as user enters it. I went through the w3c specification, books and tutorials on the same, but still I am a bit unclear about certain concepts: Assume that I access Website A. Some JavaScript runs in my browser that sets a key value pair, say ('username','deepak'). Then I access Website B which also adds a key,value pair in the localstorage as ('username','mahalingam'). How will they both be differentiated? Will Website B override the value set by website A in my localstorage? How can we ensure that a website would not erase all of my localstorage?

Let's presume i have this code: $url = 'http://www.google.com' $fields = array('q'=>'search term'); //maybe some other arguments. but let's keep it simple. $curl = new Curl(); $page = $curl->post($url,$fields); $page will have some images wich curl doesn't load them by default. I need to know how i can save a specific image without using curl. Once I use $page = $curl-post(..) I need to know how I can have that image saved without using another $curl-post(_image_location_) to get that file. The reason why need this is to save a captcha image from a form. I need to access the form and get that specific image that's being loaded. If i try to access the URL of the image, it will be a different captcha image.

• problem connecting to datasource defined in freetds.conf

  I can connect successfully to my database using tsql when I bypass the freetds.conf file, like so: % TDSVER=8.0 tsql -H 10.100.102.202 -p 1086 -U sa After I enter my password, I am presented with a 1> prompt, and it is ready for my commands. However, if I try to connect using the definition in my freetds.conf file, like this: % tsql -S Millie -U sa after entering my password, it seems to be trying to generate a prompt, but it just keeps counting. I will see 1, followed by 2, etc, without ever displaying a > character. Here is what I have for my freetds.conf: [global] # TDS protocol version tds version = 8.0 text size = 64512 [Millie] host = 10.100.102.202 port = 1086 What could be causing this anomaly? • IMAP email migration from Apptix to Office 365

  I am having issues setting up a migration from Apptix to Office 365 of 41 users in my company. I've found a couple guides on the Microsoft website about how to do it (Thank you Google) but I keep coming up with problems. I am trying to set up a mailbox migration through IMAP to get all of my users' emails over to Office 365 before we make the transition over from Apptix. One of the forums suggested using IMAP, since a CSV file can be uploaded to Office 365 and it will check for incoming mail for each user every 24 hours. My problem is that when I do this, I just get errors. • ASP.NET Web Service Throws 401 (unauthorized) Error

  Hi Experts, I have this .NET application to be run in an intranet environment. It is configured so that it requires Windows Authentication before you can access the website (Anonymous access is disabled). This website calls a web service (enable anonymous access) and the web service calls the DB. We do have a token-based authentication between the web application and the web service to secure the communication between them. The issue I'm facing is that when I deploy this to production, I'm having an intermittent issue whereby the communication between the web application and the web service failed. The 401 issue was thrown. This is actually working fine in our QA environment. Is this an issue with Active Directory? Or could it be an isssue with FQDN as mentioned here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;896861? The weirdest thing is that this is happening intermittently when tested in both on the server itself and a remote workstation in my client's environment. But, this is working perfectly in my environment. OS: Windows Server SP1 IIS 6 .NET 3.5 Framework Any idea about the 401 (Unauthorized) issue?? Thx for the help... This is from the log... • ifilter not working with MOSS 2007, cant crawl .pdf

  Installed ifilter and followed the guides: http://msmvps.com/blogs/sundar_narasiman/archive/2008/02/06/configuring-moss-2007-to-search-pdf-documents-install-and-configure-pdf-ifilters.aspx and the accompanying link to the MS hotfix.. I have initiated multiple crawls that don't show any .pdf documents, let alone the contents of the .pdfs (I did constantly upload test documents with real content). In the 'file types' menu of the shared servies, it didn't show the pdf icon as I think it was meant to, it also lists 'pdf' as filetype 'AcroExch.Document', is this correct? Any ideas anyone?

  Hello I had recieve the error #< #5.1.3 SMTP; 553 sorry, your domain does not exists.> #SMTP# What does this means? It is a message from server with sendmail, send to domain3 (which uses ms exchange). Full error mail from exchange (sorry, not exact message, but translated from ru to en) Diagnostic info for administrators: Forming server: domain1_with_sendmail user@domain3 #< #5.1.3 SMTP; 553 sorry, your domain does not exists.> #SMTP# Does Exchange change text description from remote smtp error? There is "MX" record for domain3 and no "A" records for domain3, only one for "www.domain3" Update" all domains are public and have fully-qualified names, all dns's are accessible." Update2: domain1 has only "A" record, but not the MX one. Can it be a problem?
