• Magento, NGINX, PHP-FPM, APC, MEMCACHED, 16gb Ram CentOS, Spiking PHP-FPM to 100% CPU

  I have been trying to resolve my issue of spiking cpu caused by php-fpm processes. I've reduced the php-fpm config settings to: pm = ondemand pm.max_children = 12 pm.start_servers = 2 pm.min_spare_servers = 2 pm.max_spare_servers = 10 pm.max_requests = 500 php_admin_value[memory_limit] = 128M Problem still exists. I'm running a Joomla main site (which is having no problems) and a Magento store in a sub-directory. My server is a Linux CentOS, running NGINX, APC, Memcached, Full Page Cache and php-fpm. My server has 8 cores and 16gb dedicated ram. My host has shut down my server several times the past week because my php-fpm processes are consuming the entire network. A lot of the individual php-fpm processes are getting over 50% cpu. I've hired several "professionals" and none of them was able to help me, so now broke and stumped, I'm turning to you guys for help. So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. the server is not using much memory: Mem: 16777216k total, 1204040k used, 15573176k free My.conf settings: query_cache_size = 128M innodb_buffer_pool_size = 512M open-files-limit = 8192 table_cache=4096 I just noticed that someone changed my innodb_buffer_pool_size to 512M. Shouldn't this be set to 80% of available ram? So I have 16gb ram so it should be set at 12G; however, I set it at 10G. What do you think? I made that change and restart everything. Php-fpm is still spiking cpu.   I'm successfully authenticating and connecting to a SSTP VPN (on windows 2008) from my windows 7 machine, but for some reason, the connection is disconnected about a 1-2 seconds after it's established. I've done the following: Defined a SSTP VPN on my windows server 2008. Defined the same machine as CA. Issued the needed certificates and published them on the client. I'm currently testing this VPN inside my LAN so all the needed ports are opened. Here are the event log entries when trying to connect: Error Log (Client): The user HOME\User dialed a connection named Home VPN which has terminated. The reason code returned on termination is 829. Error Log (Server-VPN): The user HOME\User connected on port VPN0-0 on 7/27/2012 at 1:57 AM and disconnected on 7/27/2012 at 1:57 AM. The user was active for 0 minutes 0 seconds. 312 bytes were sent and 4528 bytes were received. The reason for disconnecting was user request. What would be the issue? How can I resolve or debug it? UPDATE: I've found an event log (Log=System, Source=RasSstp) message on the windows 7 machine that tries to connect to the VPN: The SSTP-based VPN connection to the remote access server was terminated because of a security check failure. Security settings on the remote access server do not match settings on this computer.   I decided to try this suggestion to install Android x86 on Virtual Box. I'm following those steps and I'm at #4. I used the android-x86-4.0-RC1-amd_brazos.iso (because I have a ThinkPad that this might be compatible with and it seemed as good as any of the other choices...) I'm getting an endless series of errors: .[numbers] VFS: could not find a valid v7 on sda. .[numbers] VFS: could not find a valid v7 on sda. repeating... For storage, I made a VDI image sized at 4.0 GB (dynamically allocated) attached on SATA Port 0. Background and more details: I'm running Kubuntu 12.04. I installed VirtualBox 4.1.12 after adding deb http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian precise contrib to my sources. EDIT: Now I'm wondering if I installed the right package. I verified that I'm running 4.1.12. But I installed it with apt-get install virtualbox instead of the recommended apt-get install virtualbox-4.1. I checked just now and see this: apt-cache search virtualbox virtualbox - x86 virtualization solution - base binaries virtualbox-4.1 - Oracle VM VirtualBox But when I run VirtualBox, I get the Oracle VM VirtualBox Manager version 4.1.12, so I think I'm OK. I did see one minor issue (possibly related to this question) when installing VB, but in my case I don't think it is actually an error at all: * No suitable module for running kernel found [fail] invoke-rc.d: initscript virtualbox, action "restart" failed. I don't want to enable directory listings (as that's not the real error). Installed: Roles / Web Server (IIS) / Appliation Development / (.NET 4.5 Extensibility, Application Initialization, ASP.NET 4.5, ISAP Extensions, ISAPI Filters, WebSocket Protocol) Works locally on my machine in IISExpress on Windows 8 Has configured in web.config: <modules runAllManagedModulesForAllRequests="true" /> is set to precompiled during publish When I change the precompiled option to false, the web application does not fail (in my testing at least, it seems to work consistently). The reason I say it's inconsistent is that I've seen it work, then I've published, and the error returns. I can't find a pattern to the issue (and right now, I haven't been able to get it work again, at all). The 403 is returned from a local or remote web browser. I've had trouble finding a solution that isn't intended for older versions of Windows (like suggestions to reinstall ASP.NET which won't work on Windows 2012). I really don't know what else to try.

  I am currently in China and I would like to still visit some blocked websites (facebook, youtube). I have VPS in the USA and I have installed tinyproxy on it. I log in on my VPS with SSH port-forwarding and I have configured my browser appropriately. Everything works more or less: I can surf to those websites but everything is inusually slow and sometimes data transfer stops abruptly. • Request Entity Too Large error while uploading files of more than 128KB over SSL

  We have a web portal setup on Java spring framework. It running on tomcat app server. Portal is served through apache web server connected to tomcat through JK connector. Entire portal is HTTPS enabled using 443 port of apache. Apache version is : Apache/2.4.2 (Unix). it is the latest stable version of apache web server. Whenever we try to upload files more than 128 KB into the portal, We are facing 413 error: Request Entity Too Large The requested resource /teamleadchoachingtracking/doFileUpload does not allow request data with POST requests, or the amount of data provided in the request exceeds the capacity limit. In the apache error log we get the following errors: AH02018: request body exceeds maximum size (131072) for SSL buffer AH02257: could not buffer message body to allow SSL renegotiation to proceed We did search over google and there were suggestions to put SSLRenegBufferSize as some high value like 10MB. Based on these suggestions, we had put the following entry in virtualhost section of httpd config file: SSLRenegBufferSize 10486000 But still the error persists. Also we have specified SSLVerifyClient none, but still renegotiation is happening. This is a very inconsistent and frustrating error. Any help will be highly appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

  I have a new teamcity build agent machine, which when started up tries to connect to the build server and fails. It never shows up in the connected, disconnected or unauthorised agents tabs of the build server web interface. The logs on the build agent show that it fails to connect with a 504 gateway timeout. Other VMS with similar configuration can connect fine and do not report this error. What can possibly be preventing this connection?

• TortoiseSVN hangs in Windows Server 2012 Azure VM

  Following @shanselman's article on remoting into an Azure VM for development, I spun up my own VS 2013 VM, and that image runs on WS 2012. Once I was able to remote in, I started installing all my dev tools, including Tortoise SVN 1.8.3 64bit. Things went south once I started attempting to check out code from my personal svn server. It would hang and freeze often, although sometimes it would work - I was able to partially check out projects, but I would get frequent connection time out errors. My personal svn server (VisualSVN 2.7.2) runs at home on a windows 7 machine, and I have a dyndns url pointing to it. I have also configured my router to passthrough all 443 traffic to the appropriate port on the server. I self-signed a cert and made sure it was imported into the VM cert store under trusted root authorities. I have no problems connecting to my svn server from 4-5 other computers & locations. From the Azure VM, in both IE and Chrome, I can access the repository web browser with no issues. There are no outbound firewall restrictions. I have installed other SVN add-ons for Visual Studio (AnkhSVN, VisualSVN) and attempted to connect with my svn server, with largely the same results - random and persistent connection issues (hangs/timeouts). I spun up a completely fresh WS 2008 Azure VM, and installed TortoiseSVN, and had the same results. So I'm at a loss as to what the problem is and how to fix it. Web searches on tortoisesvn and windows server issues doesn't yield any current or relevant information. At this point, i'm guessing that maybe some setting or configuration that MS Azure VM images is the culprit - although I should probably attempt to spin up my own local WS VM to rule out that it's a window server issue. Any thoughts? I hope I'm just missing something really obvious!

• Routing static IP traffic on a Comcast Business Class IP Gateway (SMCD3G-CCR)

  We are in the process of replacing our firewall, which is currently the only thing connected to our Comcast Business Class modem. Comcast gives us 5 static IP addresses. Currently, all traffic to all 5 static IPs goes directly to the existing firewall. Eventually, obviously all traffic will goto the new firewall, once the old firewall is removed from the network. But in the meantime, as we will have two firewalls plugged into the same Comcast modem, I need to route certain traffic to the new firewall instead of the old one. The firewall switchover is going to be slow and gradual as I am testing it, so I can't simply unplug the existing firewall and plug in the new one. So my question is, how do I tell the modem to route all traffic that goes to a specific IP to goto the new firewall instead of the old one? I've logged into the web interface for the modem, but the available options aren't very clear. There is a 1-to-1 NAT option (which I can't seem to get the interface for it to work properly) but I also see a "Static Routing" section. I always understood Static Routing to refer to routing data within the LAN though, so I'm not sure if that's what I'm looking for or not. Keep in mind, I'm not looking to do simple port forwarding. I'm wanting 100% of traffic to certain public static IPs to go to the specified connected firewall (I'll deal with service policies there). The modem is an SMC SMCD3G-CCR and is labeled as a Comcast Business Class Business IP Gateway. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

  I purchased a Swann Home Security DVR system and was hoping for some help on how to duplicate the streaming video on my server. In order to get their web view (streaming video in the browser) to work, I had to install the following plugins: HiDvrPlugin.dmg for mac. Hidvrocx.cab for Windows. I was originally thinking it was a sign of some form of DRM? Maybe. Maybe not. HTML wise, the following code is in the source of the safari version of the web view: <embed pluginspage="SurveilClient.dmg" width="10px" height="10px" type="application/x-scplugin" id="MacDiv" style="height: 592px; width: 720px; left: 278px; top: 61px; "> It seems to be the main display area. Using wireshark, I am able to see that the video stream is on port 9000. However, I have no idea what type of stream it is. I've tried opening it in VLC with no such luck. http://dvr_ip:9000 tcp://dvr_ip:9000 My hope was to do the following to redistribute the feed vlc dvr_ip:9000 --sout h264-version-on-localhost:3000 TLDR; Trying to re-distribute a stream from a security camera (can't tell the format) using vlc (re-distribute via h.264 / HTML5). Not sure how to accomplish this. Is it possible that the software has some type of DRM that only the plugins can decode?

• Cisco ASA and SixXS IPv6 tunnel endpoint?

  I recently installed a Cisco ASA 5505 firewall on the edge of our LAN. The setup is simple: Internet <-- ASA <-- LAN I would like provide the hosts in the LAN with IPv6 connectivity by setting up a 6in4 tunnel to SixXS. It would be nice to have the ASA as tunnel endpoint so it can firewall both IPv4 and IPv6 traffic. Unfortunately the ASA apparently can't create a tunnel itself, and can't port-forward protocol 41 traffic, so I believe I would have to do one of the following instead: Set up a host with it's own IP outside the firewall, and have that function as tunnel-endpoint. The ASA can then firewall and route the v6 subnet to the LAN. Set up a host inside the firewall that functions as endpoint, separated via vlan or whatever, and loop the traffic back into the ASA where it can be firewalled and routed. This seems contrived, but would allow me to use a VM instead of a physical machine as endpoint. Any other way? What would you suggest is the optimal way to set this up? P.S. I do have a spare public IP address available if needed, and can spin up another VM in our VMware infrastructure.

  I have an external SMTP provider: auth.smtp.1and1.co.uk I am trying to send SQL Server Reporting Services emails via this on an Windows 2012 Azure VM. It is configured sufficiently correctly for emails to be generated, but I've not configured something or mis-configured something as the emails then stay in the queue. • How to set up the CNAME in DNS zone record to work with Unbounce

  I'm trying to run split testing on some landing pages I "designed" with Unbounce, but it requires that I set the CNAME record for my domain/sub-domain and I'm having trouble figuring out what is the right way to do it. My host is arvixe (www.arvixe.com) and their customer support has failed to help me for the past 5 days (I spoke to them multiple times). I followed the directions for setting the CNAME record and I was able to set the CNAME record, but I'm consistently unable to verify that the CNAME record is set up correctly. I followed the instructions on Unbounce to verify the CNAME record for my sub-domain (beta.devboost.com) and here are the results: No records found reverse lookup smtp diag port scan blacklist Reported by ns1.SNARE.arvixe.com on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 5:49:57 PM (GMT-6) Here is my DNS zone record from the control panel of my host (last record, CNAME unbouncepages.com): Is there something wrong with my DNS Zone Record? • Need for explanation: NetBIOS over TCP/IP on VMware network adapter disturbs access to network share

  Some time ago nearly all workstations in our team (Windows XP SP2) exhibited intermittend but frequent delays when accessing shares on the network. Typically the first access to a share which hadn't been accessed for some time resulted in a nearly frozen workstation for up to 30 seconds. Then everything started working fine again. Using TCPView from Sysinternals I saw that during this delays there was a connection to the netbios-ssn port on the file server which was in state SYN_SENT. First try: Disable NetBIOS over TCP/IP for the intranet network adapter. Problem solved, but I didn't like to manipulate our centrally managed network configuration for the intranet. Second try: Disable NetBIOS over TCP/IP only for the VMWare network adapter (VMNet1 used for host only communications). Problem solved again! My questions: Why does NetBIOS over TCP/IP on one network adapter disturb NetBIOS over TCP/IP on another network adapter? Is this problem specific to VMWare network adapters? Has anybody else seen this phenomen? Additional information: VMWare Workstation version 6.0.3 At the time I started seriously analysing the problem it was no more possible to find out what had been changed to our systems at the time the problems started.

• Can't join OS X Mavericks to AD Domain

I've joined (bound) Ubuntu Linux clients to the same domain with net ads join in the past with no problems (using the same administrative user). I don't have access to any server logs. This is what I think is going on: The OS X client sends a kerberos request. The KDC says, "You need to pre-authenticate. Try again" The OS X client tries to pre-authenticate (all this so far is over UDP) Something gets lost on our network and the KDC says, "Oops something went wrong" The OS X client switches to TCP and tries again. Over TCP, the KDC says, "You're using an encryption type I don't support" Note that in its padata records, the OS X client is always using "aes256-cts-hmac-sha1-96" as its encryption type. However, in its KDC_REQ_BODY record it lists the aes256-cts-hmac-sha1-96, aes128-cts-hmac-sha1-96, des3-cbc-sha1, and rc4-hmac encryption types. When the KDC comes back with KDC_ERR_ETYPE_NOSUPP, it uses rc4-hmac as its encryption type in its padata record. I know next to nothing about Kerberos, but it seems to me that the OS X client should go ahead and try the rc4-hmac encryption type. However, it does nothing after this. If I do the same search for the Linux and Windows PCs I added previously, I can find them.

  I am trying to install a SSL certificate on IIS 7. I have download a free trial certificate. After that, this is the steps what I do: Click the Start menu and select Administrative Tools. Start Internet Services Manager and click the Server Name. In the center section, double click on the Server Certificates button in the Security section. From the Actions menu click Complete Certificate Request. Enter the location for the certificate file. Enter a Friendly name. Click OK. Under Sites select the site to be secured with the SSL certificate. From the Actions menu, click Bindings.This will open the Site Bindings window. In the Site Bindings window, click Add. This opens the Add Site Binding window. Select https from the Type menu. Set the port to 443. Select the SSL Certificate you just installed from the SSL Certificate menu. Click OK. This is the step where I get the message: One or more intermediate certificates in the certificate chain are missing. To resolve this issue, make sure that all of intermediate certificates are installed. For more information, see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/954755 After this, when I access the web site on its first page, I get this message: There is a problem with this website's security certificate. What am I doing wrong?

• Invalid format for New Relic licence when installing on Elastic Beanstalk

  We've created an app that is running on an Elastic Beanstalk instance, 64 bit PHP version 5.4 (so not legacy). I've used the New Relic installation instructions to install New Relic, and viewing phpinfo shows that New Relic is installed. However, I'm not getting any data in New Relic and that is because it is saying that the licence is ***invalid format*** under newrelic.licence I'm getting the licence from my New Relic account, and it is a 40 character hexadecimal string. Here is the current newrelic.config file in the .ebextensions folder I'm using, with most of the licence key commented out. packages: yum: newrelic-php5: [] rpm: newrelic: http://yum.newrelic.com/pub/newrelic/el5/x86_64/newrelic-repo-5-3.noarch.rpm commands: configure_new_relic: command: newrelic-install install env: NR_INSTALL_SILENT: true NR_INSTALL_KEY: ec9a4... Skitch of relevant phpinfo Can anyone shed some light on what's going on here? I've tried two different New Relic licence keys with the same error, I've also surrounded it with a single quote mark and tried uppercase only. And at this point I'm out of ideas on what to try. We're not AWS gurus so it could very easily be something simple like not opening a port to allow the licence to be validated?
