  • JRuby-friendly method for parallel-testing Rails app

    I am looking for a system to parallelise a large suite of tests in a Ruby on Rails app (using rspec, cucumber) that works using JRuby. Cucumber is actually not too bad, but the full rSpec suite currently takes nearly 20 minutes to run. The systems I can find (hydra, parallel-test) look like they use forking, which isn't the ideal solution for the JRuby environment.

I am having trouble narrowing the arguments or accessing them to test. I initially tried the following with little success if (argv[1] == L"-s") I also tried using the narrow function of wostringstream on each character but this crashed the application. I am trying to fix them as an exercise to become familiar with the code. However, the all the deprecation warnings are a PITA as they interfere with the display of the test results.   • Swing: does DefaultBoundedRangeModel coalesce multiple events?

    I have a JProgressBar displaying a BoundedRangeModel which is extremely fine grained and I was concerned that updating it too often would slow down my computer. So I wrote a quick test program (see below) which has a 10Hz timer but each timer tick makes 10,000 calls to microtick() which in turn increments the BoundedRangeModel. Yet it seems to play nicely with a JProgressBar; my CPU is not working hard to run the program. How does JProgressBar or DefaultBoundedRangeModel do this?
