• Where is the appropriate place to define inflector rules in CakePHP 1.3?

  In CakePHP 1.2, custom inflector rules could be defined in a file app/config/inflections.php. This file was removed in CakePHP 1.3. Instead, the documentation prescribes using the Inflector::rules function to load custom inflections. There's adequate documentation of how to define the custom inflections themselves, but the documentation gives no context—where to use Inflector::rules. Should any custom inflections be defined in the bootstrap.php script? At the top of applicable corresponding controllers? Somewhere else? • Separation of static and dynamic content in Java EE applications

  We work with IBM products and we typically use IBM Http Servers (read Apache) as a reverse proxy for our application servers. For performance reasons we serve static content (.gif, .jpg, .css, .html etc.) from our http servers, to ease the burden a bit from the application server. So far, we have to distribute files to http server and configure it manually (writing custom scripts at best.) The problem is the effort needed to keep everything in synch, especially when you need to update the app. Does any Java EE product support this “out of the box”? Is there a way to have application server do this automatically, like in cluster configuration for example, where master node is in charge of distributing the application to other nodes and for keeping everything in synch.

• ignore certain buffers using iswitchb

  Hello, GNU Emacs 23.1 I am using iswitchb. However, when I press c-x b I get a list of buffers. However, I don't want to display one like scratch, Messages, GNU Emacs, etc. Just the buffers I have opened myself. So I am looking for a way to ignore these buffers. This is what I have in my configuration. However, it doesn't ignore the buffers I don't want. • System.Timers.Timer leaking due to "direct delegate roots"

  Apologies for the rather verbose and long-winded post, but this problem's been perplexing me for a few weeks now so I'm posting as much information as I can in order to get this resolved quickly. We have a WPF UserControl which is being loaded by a 3rd party app. The 3rd party app is a presentation application which loads and unloads controls on a schedule defined by an XML file which is downloaded from a server. Our control, when it is loaded into the application makes a web request to a web service and uses the data from the response to display some information. We're using an MVVM architecture for the control. The entry point of the control is a method that is implementing an interface exposed by the main app and this is where the control's configuration is set up. This is also where I set the DataContext of our control to our MainViewModel. The MainViewModel has two other view models as properties and the main UserControl has two child controls. Depending on the data received from the web service, the main UserControl decides which child control to display, e.g. if there is a HTTP error or the data received is not valid, then display child control A, otherwise display child control B. As you'd expect, these two child controls bind two separate view models each of which is a property of MainViewModel. Now child control B (which is displayed when the data is valid) has a RefreshService property/field. RefreshService is an object that is responsible for updating the model in a number of ways and contains 4 System.Timers.Timers; a _modelRefreshTimer a _viewRefreshTimer a _pageSwitchTimer a _retryFeedRetrievalOnErrorTimer (this is only enabled when something goes wrong with retrieving data). I should mention at this point that there are two types of data; the first changes every minute, the second changes every few hours. The controls' configuration decides which type we are using/displaying. If data is of the first type then we update the model quite frequently (every 30 seconds) using the _modelRefreshTimer's events. If the data is of the second type then we update the model after a longer interval. However, the view still needs to be refreshed every 30 seconds as stale data needs to be removed from the view (hence the _viewRefreshTimer). The control also paginates the data so we can see more than we can fit on the display area. This works by breaking the data up into Lists and switching the CurrentPage (which is a List) property of the view model to the right List. This is done by handling the _pageSwitchTimer's Elapsed event. Now the problem My problem is that the control, when removed from the visual tree doesn't dispose of it's timers. This was first noticed when we started getting an unusually high number of requests on the web server end very soon after deploying this control and found that requests were being made at least once a second! We found that the timers were living on and not stopping hours after the control had been removed from view and that the more timers there were the more requests piled up at the web server. My first solution was to implement IDisposable for the RefreshService and do some clean up when the control's UnLoaded event was fired. Within the RefreshServices Dispose method I've set Enabled to false for all the timers, then used the Stop() method on all of them. I've then called Dispose() too and set them to null. None of this worked. After some reading around I found that event handlers may hold references to Timers and prevent them from being disposed and collected. After some more reading and researching I found that the best way around this was to use the Weak Event Pattern. Using this blog and this blog I've managed to work around the shortcomings in the Weak Event pattern. However, none of this solves the problem. Timers are still not being disabled or stopped (let alone disposed) and web requests are continuing to build up. Mem Profiler tells me that "This type has N instances that are directly rooted by a delegate. This can indicate the delegate has not been properly removed" (where N is the number of instances). As far as I can tell though, all listeners of the Elapsed event for the timers are being removed during the cleanup so I can't understand why the timers continue to run. Thanks for reading. • Application loses authentication when performing redirect to a virtual directory

  I have the following setup: http://www.example.com/dir1/ and http://www.example.com/dir2/ Each virtual directory is configured on IIS6.0 as an application with own AppPool. When redirecting authenticated user from dir1 to dir2 using response.redirect I lose authentication information for the user and the user is being redirected to the login page. This issue was not coming up with each app (dir1 and dir2) were configured under subdomain, ex: http://dir1.example.com and http://dir2.example.com. I have resolved the issue by adding a machine key to the machine.config file. Can someone explain to me why it's not working on a http://www.example.com/dir1 configuration?

If I use JSP Documents (or JSP 2.0) and If I put a TAG without a BODY it is automaticly closed I dont want that. so If I have <div id=....> </div> it is automaticly converted to <div id=.../> How I can stop this ? I am using tomcat is there any configuration about that ? P.S. the reason to want to stop it is because it simple "fuckes" the JQuery stuffs that the designer company are using.

• At what point should I change the way Struts acquires the session token?

  It seems I have to find a different way to transmit the session token from a Flex client to a Struts backend without using cookies. If I were to put the session token in the payload of a request, at what point would I have to customize Struts' behaviour so that I can reuse as much of the existing session handling as possible? In particular, I don't want to reimplement whatever security measures (such as tying a token to an IP) and configuration parameters (such as session expiration interval). There's a CreateSession interceptor, rather early in the default stack, should I swap that with a subclassed version?

• How to force programs out of swap file when a resources-intensive batch finishes?

  We use employees' desktops for CPU-intensive simulation during the night. Desktops run Windows - usually Windows XP. Employees don't log off, they just lock the desktops, switch off their monitors and go. Every employee has a configuration file which he can edit to specify when he is most likely out of office. When that time comes a background program grabs data for simulation from the server, spawns worker processes, watches them, gets results and sends them to the server. When the time specified by the employee elapses simulation stops so that normal desktop usage is not interfered. The problem is that simuation consumes a lot of memory, so when the worker processes run they force other programs into the swap file. So when the employee comes all the programs he left are luggish and slow until he opens them one by one so that they are unswapped. Is there a way the program can force other programs out of swap file when it stops simulation so that they again run smoothly?

• When and why will an OS initialise memory to 0xCD, 0xDD, etc. on malloc/free/new/delete?

  I know that the OS will sometimes initialise memory with certain patterns such as 0xCD and 0xDD. What I want to know is when and why this happens. When Is this specific to the compiler used? Do malloc/new and free/delete work in the same way with regard to this? Is it platform specific? Will it occur on other operating systems, such as Linux or VxWorks? Why My understanding is this only occurs in Win32 debug configuration, and it is used to detect memory overruns and to help the compiler catch exceptions. Can you give any practical examples as to how this initialisation is useful? I remember reading something (maybe in Code Complete 2) that it is good to initialise memory to a known pattern when allocating it, and certain patterns will trigger interrupts in Win32 which will result in exceptions showing in the debugger. How portable is this?

  I have two NIB's ParentViewController.xib ChildViewController.xib ParentViewController.xib contains a UIView and a UIViewController. ChildViewController.xib contains a UIButton I want ChildViewController.xib to load in the ParentViewController.xib's UIView I have done the following: Created @property for UIView in ParentViewController Connected File's Owner to UIView in ParentViewController Set UIViewController in ParentViewController's NIB Name property to ChildViewController in Interface Builder Set ChildViewController view property to UIView in ParentViewController I was hoping this would load ChildViewController into my UIView in ParentViewController but no luck. I did get the following warning, which could be the culprit: 'View Controller (Child View)' has both its 'NIB Name' property set and its 'view' outlet connected. This configuration is not supported. I also have added additional code in ParentViewController's viewDidLoad(): - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; ChildViewController *childViewController = [[ChildViewController alloc]initWithNibName:@"ChildViewController" bundle:nil]; childViewController.view = self.myView; } Any thoughts on why ChildViewController does not load in the UIView of ParentViewController?

• Drupal. Use AJAX to update view's content

  Hi, I've created a view in Drupal that retrieves a list of nodes. The display of this view is a page and it works perfectly well. It does even allow me to filter its content by argument. See the current's view configuration (click to enlarge): I want to use AJAX to use the filter (by parameter) functionality without reloading the page. I've enabled the "Use AJAX" option but I am not sure on how to continue. Any ideas on how to do that? By the way, I'm building my own theme (in case that changes anything). • Converting LDAP from Tomcat to GlassFish

  Hi, I have a simple web-app that is developed in Netbeans(6.8) and works fine in Tomcat(6) using LDAP(Active Directory). I need to convert this to an EE (JSF2), so I am moving from Tomcat to GlassFish(v3). I have changed the web files to xhtml and configured the xml files. However, I cannot get the GlassFish LDAP configuration to authenticate. I am attaching my old web.xml and server.xml (from Tomcat) snippets and the portions of the new web.xml, sun-web.xml, and the GlassFish configuration. If anyone can help me figure out where I am missing the piece that will allow a user to be authenticated, I would appreciate it. (btw, I am not using roles, just authenticating against the LDAP db is good enought.) As it is right now, my app will prompt me to enter a user when I try to access a file in the 'protected' area and the GlassFish server throws an exception when it fails to authenticate. Because it works under Tomcat, I know I have the right information, I just don't know how to format it to get GlassFish to pass it along. Thanks. • UINavigationController Push Crash in Distribution but not Release

  I have a UINavigationController that I will be pushing a new view onto from selection of a UITableView row. I have tested this feature in "Release" configuration and it works perfectly, however when I build for "Distribution" it crashes when trying to push the new view onto the stack. - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { /* irrelevant code */ DetailsViewController *detailController = [[DetailsViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"DetailsViewController" bundle:nil]; detailController.name = tmpName; detailController.time = tmpTime; [self.navigationController pushViewController:detailController animated:YES]; return nil; } An exception is thrown on the line where the controller is pushed onto the stack. I have verified that the detailController is not nil. Again, this only happens in my "Distribution" build of the code. Any ideas?

• Magento Search returns All Products

  I have set up a website (www.autobodypartsnow.com) and the search function has gone haywire. Whenever you search for anything, it returns every product in the system making it useless. I have fiddled around with it with no prevail. I have done the Like and FullText thing in the Configuration - nothing. I have reset the Search and FS cache. I have actually gone in the product attributes and disabled all the attributes from being searchable (just to see) and Rebuilt the Search Cache, cleared the FS cache and it still does the same thing - which tells me that something it pretty wrong. Any Ideas? Thanks in Advance!

  I've created a web service using Visual Studio ( 2005 - I know I'm old school ) and it all compiles fine but when it opens I get warned thus: This web service does not conform to WS-I Basic Profile v1.1. And furthermore: This web service is using http://tempuri.org/ as its default namespace. Which would be fine except my service begins thus: [WebService(Namespace = "http://totally-not-default-uri.com/servicename")] Searching the entire solution folder for "tempuri" returns nothing. I can't find it mentioned in any configuration page acessible from Visual Studio. And yet it's right there in the wsdl:definitions list for the xmlns:tns attribute on the web service descriptor page when I view it through the browser and as targetNamespace in the same tag. I'm viewing it using Visual Studio's "debug" mode with the built in server from that. Seems like something has got cached somewhere but I can't work out what and where- I've tried stopping and restarting the server, cleaning and rebuilding the service and going through the associated text config files with a text editor but no dice. Any idea what is going on?

• jms message not moving of the queue in websphere

  I have a message driven bean that throws exception under certain conditions. When it throws an exception the message is not processed and put back on the queue. From what I understand with MQ and WAS (Websphere Application Server) the message should be marked as bad after x number of tries and removed from the queue. This is not happening and the message remains on the queue marked as bad. What part of the configuration in MQ and/or WAS have I missed to set correct? (The issue with the MDB throwing exceptions is NOT the point here) Thanks.

• First Fluent NHibernate Project

  I'm trying to follow the "Your first project" tutorial at http://wiki.fluentnhibernate.org/Getting_started and have hit a roadblock. When I try to run the console application, I'm getting this error: An invalid or incomplete configuration was used while creating a SessionFactory. Check PotentialReasons collection, and InnerException for more detail. I have created a SQLite database "firstProject.db" and referenced the full path to the file in the call to: return Fluently.Configure() .Database(SQLiteConfiguration.Standard .UsingFile(DbFile)) .Mappings(m => m.FluentMappings.AddFromAssemblyOf<Program>()) .ExposeConfiguration(BuildSchema) .BuildSessionFactory(); so I don't know what I'm doing wrong. What/where is this "PotentialReasons" collection? Thank you for the help. Andy
