• How do I create a list of timedeltas in python?

  I've been searching through this website and have seen multiple references to time deltas, but haven't quite found what I'm looking for. Basically, I have a list of messages that are received by a comms server and I want to calcuate the latency time between each message out and in. It looks like this: 161336.934072 - TMsg out: [O] enter order. RefID [123] OrdID [4568] 161336.934159 - TMsg in: [A] accepted. ordID [456] RefNumber [123] Mixed in with these messages are other messages as well, however, I only want to capture the difference between the Out messages and in messages with the same RefID. So far, to sort out from the main log which messages are Tmessages I've been doing this, but it's really inefficient.   I'm writing a code where: I.) The user adds "events" during run-time. (To a flowlayoutpanel) These events are turning some LEDs on/off, after "x" time has elapsed and the LED-turning functions are written in a Led-function.cs class. i.e: 1) Turn left led on After 3500ms 2) Turn right led on After 4000ms II.) When the user hits start a timer starts. // Create timer. System.Timers.Timer _timer; _timer = new System.Timers.Timer(); _timer.Interval = (1); _timer.Elapsed += (sender, e) => { HandleTimerElapsed(LedObject, device, _timer); }; _timer.Start(); III.) The timer's tick event is raised every millisecond and checks if the user definied time has ellapsed. Im measuring the elapsed time with adding +1 to an integer at every tick event. (NumberOfTicks++;) //Timer Handle private void HandleTimerElapsed(Led_Functions LedObject, string device, System.Timers.Timer _timer) { NumberOfTicks++; if (NumberOfTicks >= Start_time[0]) { LedObject.LeftLED_ONnobutton(device); } } IV.) What I noticed was that when the tick was set to 1. (So the tick event is raised every millisecond) Even if I set 3000ms to the evet the LED actually flashed around 6 seconds. When the tick was set to 100. (So every 0,1s) then the flash was more accurate (3,5sec or so). Any Ideas why im having this delay in time? Or do you have any ideas how could I implement it better?   I am in a bit of a rut with a cURL issue. • Selenium selected option in dropdown not displayed correctly

  I have the following issue with Selenium Webdriver. There are two dropdown menus on a page i am testing "brand" and "items". The options of "items" depend on which brand you choose. I am trying to iterate through all possible choices and print brand-item pairs. I use two possible ways to pick an option from each dropdown menu Using Select(): def retryingSelectOption(name,n): result=False attempts=0 while attempts<5: try: element=Select(driver.find_element_by_name(name)) element.select_by_index(n) print element.all_selected_options[0].text result=True break except StaleElementReferenceException: pass attempts+=1 return result And using .click(): def retryingClickOption(name,n): result=False attempts=0 while attempts<5: try: driver.find_element_by_name(name).find_elements_by_tag_name("option")[n].click() result=True break except StaleElementReferenceException: pass attempts+=1 return result My problem is that at ,what seem to me as random moments (sometimes it works sometimes it does not), even though the above functions return True and printing out the selected option shows me the correct answer, the browser still displays the previous option. So basically Selenium tells me i have picked the right option but the browser displays the previous one.No idea what is wrong.

• Is there a need for zero-out DIV's margin and padding?

  I wonder if on any browser div element comes with a preset margin/padding value other than zero. As far as I know, div and span come with zero padding and margin values by standard to make them suitable canvas for style decoration. Even better, is there a definite standard for default styles for all elements that is cross-browser which we can make assumptions upon? For instance FORM comes with top/bottom margins, OL/UL come with padding-left's. I occasionally see a * { margin: 0; padding: 0; } and this just looks like a dirty hack without knowing the reasons or consequences. Anyone has any better approach to this?

  How would one go about detecting what has been selected on a page in a browser? Example: Click, hold, select 3 words and 1 image on a page, release. Sub-question: How to detect what letter someone clicked on? Without using: A span injector breaking everything up OR a WYSIWYG plugin I'm hoping this isn't just a type of browser interaction you can't detect. There could be many uses, but my goal is a simple 'live' page editor, or at least a way to know what someone is clicking on/selecting aside from just the id of an element.

• Freeing a character pointer returns error

  I'm trying to free a character pointer after having used it but it returns a strange error. The error says: "_CrtDbgREport: String too long or IO Error" The debugger itself returns no errors while compiling.   I am new to Drupal and am trying to create a node (let's call it child) that will only really be accessed when clicked on from another node (we'll call it parent). When closing the child window, I want to parent window to refresh. Outside of Drupal, that's easy: <a onclick="window.close(); window.opener.location.reload();" href="#">Click to close this window</a> However, when I type this into the body of a node using Full HTML, it still strips the onclick text from my post. How can I include javascript in the body of a node like this? Is there a special module I need. Thanks!

• How do software events work internally?

  Hello! I am a student of Computer Science and have learned many of the basic concepts of what is going on "under the hood" while a computer program is running. But recently I realized that I do not understand how software events work efficiently. In hardware, this is easy: instead of the processor "busy waiting" to see if something happened, the component sends an interrupt request. But how does this work in, for example, a mouse-over event? My guess is as follows: if the mouse sends a signal ("moved"), the operating system calculates its new position p, then checks what program is being drawn on the screen, tells that program position p, then the program itself checks what object is at p, checks if any event handlers are associated with said object and finally fires them. That sounds terribly inefficient to me, since a tiny mouse movement equates to a lot of cpu context switches (which I learned are relatively expensive). And then there are dozens of background applications that may want to do stuff of their own as well. Where is my intuition failing me? I realize that even "slow" 500MHz processors do 500 million operations per second, but still it seems too much work for such a simple event. Thanks in advance!

• How to work around a site forbidding me to scrape their images with PHP

  I'm scraping a site, searching for JPGs to download. Scraping the site's HTML pages works fine. But when I try getting the JPGs with CURL, copy(), fopen(), etc., I get a 403 forbiden status. I know that's because the site owners don't want their images scraped, so I understand a good answer would be just don't do it, because they don't want you to. Ok, but let's say it's ok and I try to work around this, how could this be achieved? If I get the same URL with a browser, I can open the image perfectly, it's not that my IP is banned or anything, and I'm testing the scraper one file at a time, so it's not blocking me because I make too many requests too often. From my understanding, it could be that either the site is checking for some cookies that confirm that I'm using a browser and browsing their site before I download a JPG. Or that maybe PHP is using some user agent for the requests that the server can detect and filter out. Anyway, have any idea?

The first time I call show() the plot is drawn, wihtout any problem, but not the second time and the following. I close the window showing the chart between the two calls. The problem I am comming accross is that I cannot use the this keyword within the AJAX callbacks due to a change in scope. • Transforming a TXT file in a list, getting wrong

  I have a txt plain file that has a list of numbers. One number per line, like: 978-972-722-649-8 978-972-722-646-7 978-972-722-627-6 978-972-722-625-2 978-972-722-594-1 etc. This list is on a file called file.txt, was created and saved on TextEdit using Western (ISO Latin 1) encoding. Now I am trying to use Applescript to read this file and transform it on a list.   I am using a "shake" function from github - and it has a detection that is browser-based javascript. //feature detect this.hasDeviceMotion = 'ondevicemotion' in window; This though yields true even on Chrome on OS X. It feels strange, since I am not willing to shake my monitor on my desktop. Safari on OS X gives me "false" in return when testing. I have searched but not been able to find out why Chrome decided to take this path. It bugs me. Is there a better way to make this detection? Not all "mobile devices" has shake as well.. or does not let the browser have that capability, as it does not seem to work in windows phones.
