• visual studio 2010 database project, is there a visual way?

  started a visual studio 2010 database project. however i am only able to write sql in a text mode, there is no functionality in making the table for example in a visual view as exists when you add a new database to app_data folder and the work on it there. is this the only way and there is no visual way of doing this in the visual studio 2010 database project? or am i missing some obvious way of getting to it? thank you also if there is a tutorial anywhere (video maybe!?) please link it. i only found importing a database from an existing script video using a wizard. would like new database from scratch without wizard.

• Embedding wav files in AS3 Flash/Flex project?

  The Flash IDE is capable of embedding many types of uncompressed sound files, including wav, and offers optional compression when publishing. However, the [Embed] tag, only seems to allow embedding of mp3 files. Is it truly impossible to embed an uncompressed wav file, or am I missing some magic, undocumented mimeType? I was hoping for something like: [Embed source="../../audio/wibble.wav" mimeType="audio/wav"] ...but I get no transcoder registered for mimeType 'audio/wav' It's possible to embed wav or other format as an octet-stream and parse at runtime, but that's pretty heavy handed I think. I'm surprised that even though the Flash IDE can embed uncompressed sound data, [Embed] cannot, given that the swf spec can contain uncompressed sound data. Any takers?

  Good evening, I'm trying to splitting the parts of a german address string into its parts via Java. Does anyone know a regex or a library to do this? To split it like the following: Name der Straße 25a 88489 Teststadt to Name der Straße|25a|88489|Teststadt or Teststr. 3 88489 Beispielort (Großer Kreis) to Teststr.|3|88489|Beispielort (Großer Kreis) It would be perfect if the system / regex would still work if parts like the zip code or the city are missing. Is there any regex or library out there with which I could archive this? EDIT: Rule for german addresses: Street: Characters, numbers and spaces House no: Number and any characters (or space) until a series of numbers (zip) (at least in these examples) Zip: 5 digits Place or City: The rest maybe also with spaces, commas or braces

  I really need some help with my query. I am trying to merge two tables together, but I only want the data were Cast_Date and Sched_Cast_Date are the same. I try to run the query but I get the error missing keyword in the line 21 column 13. I am sure that this is not the only potential error that I have. Could someone help me to get this query up and running? • Can't pass a single parameter to lambda function in MVVM Light Toolkit's RelayCommand

  I don't know if there's a difference between Josh Smith's and Laurent Bugnion's implementations of RelayCommand or not, but everywhere I've looked, it sounds like the Execute portion of RelayCommand can take 0 or 1 parameters. I've only been able to get it to work with 0. When I try something like: public class Test { public RelayCommand MyCommand { get; set; } public Test() { MyCommand = new RelayCommand((param) => SomeFunc(param)); } private void SomeFunc( object param) { } } I get the error: Delegate 'System.Action' does not take '1' arguments. Just to make sure I am not insane, I went to the definition of RelayCommand to make sure I didn't have some rogue implementation in my solution somewhere, but sure enough, it was just Action, and not Action<. What on earth am I missing here?

  Hello, I'm trying to achieve a motion blur effect in my OpenGL application. I read somewhere this solution, using the accumulation buffer: glAccum(GL_MULT, 0.90); glAccum(GL_ACCUM, 0.10); glAccum(GL_RETURN, 1.0); glFlush(); at the end of the render loop. But nothing happens... What am I missing ? Additions after genpfault answer: Indeed I did not asked for an accumulation buffer when I initialized my context.   Recently I've began experimenting with ASP.NET MVC and the Entity Framework. Since my hostingprovider only provides me with MySQL I've been trying to set that up. Locally everything works fine, but after I publish it I get the following error: [ProviderIncompatibleException: The store provider factory type 'MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlClientFactory' does not implement the IServiceProvider interface. Use a store provider that implements this interface.] Since I'm rather inexperienced with the configuring this and google is lacking a good answer I thought I'd try here. My best guess is something missing in the web.config file, but can't really make out what it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

• Ruby CMS/blog: Mephisto vs. Radiant

  I'm looking for a blogging tool with some light CMS features in Ruby on Rails. I mainly want something simple, but configurable. I have no need for page snippets, etc. Just your basic main blog, very good (and easy) theme support, some nice sidebar stuff, a few static pages and MetaWeblog API support. I'm thinking of either using Mephisto or Radiant CMS (everything else seems half-baked or extremely lightweight at best): http://mephistoblog.com/ http://www.radiantcms.org/ Documentation for Mephisto seems very lacking and their site is a mess. I've also read some bad things about it's stability. Radiant seems more stable in comparison and has heaps of useful plug-ins. However, it isn't designed for blogging out of the box. That has to be added as almost an after thought. Creating a custom theme also seems more cumbersome with Radiant due to the sub-page/snippet feature. Which should I choose?

• Is Lucern.net good choice for website search of 1M item product database? (giving up on SQL Server

  We currently have in production SQL Server 2005 and we use it's full text search for a eCommerce site search of a million product database. I've optimized it as much as possible (I think) and we're still seeing search times of five seconds. (We don't need site scrawl or PDF (etc.) document indexing features... JUST "Google" speed for site search.) I was going to buy dtSearch but now I realize I can just use Lucerne.net and save the $2,500 for two server license. I read on a post that Lucerne.Net is not good for website searches. Has anyone else used Lucerne.Net from ASP.Net? Does it take a lot of memory? Any problems? Any comments?

• Winforms application hangs when switching to another app

This started when I put the threading code. Could I have some rogue threads out there? what is the best way to zero in a threading problem? The issue can't be recreated on my machine...I know I must be missing something on how to dispose of a backgroundworker properly. Any thoughts are appreciated, Thanks, Jose

• Why does MSBuild fail from the command line where VS2008 succeeds?

  I have an ASP.NET solution that builds just fine from within VS2008. However , it fails when i do this : MSBUILD.exe c:\path-to-sln It fails with a CS0006 error ("Metadata file 'dll_name' could not be found"). It also fails when I try with a .csproj of a project within the solution. What is VS2008 doing that MSBuild is missing ? It is my understanding that VS knows about inter assembly dependencies that MSBuild cant. Is there any way I can inform MSBuild of these? (I need MSBuild to work from the command line because I am calling it from an MSBuild-Task from within CruiseControl.Net.) • Avoid painting over nested controls

  I am writing a toolbar-style control and use the ThemeServices unit to paint the background required by the toolbar. Like so: ThemeServices.DrawElement(Canvas.Handle, ThemeServices.GetElementDetails(trRebarRoot), ARect); I then drop child controls onto the toolbar and voila - instant toolbar. Except that every now and again I notice that the nested (child) controls don't repaint as well. So my control paints its background and the child controls disappear until you move the mouse over them. Some of the edit controls show their client area (no border) and some of them are just gone altogether. This happens mostly when I place a window from another application over the toolbar and move it away. I keep thinking this has to be very easy to cure, that perhaps I'm somehow preventing the paint message from reaching the child controls, or missing an override but I have been unable to figure it out.

• NHibernate's automatic (dirty checking) update behaviour - turning it off

  I've just discovered that if I get an object from an NHibernate session and change a property on object, NHibernate will automatically update the object on commit without me calling Session.Update(myObj)! I can see how this could be helpful, but as default behaviour it seems crazy! How can I stop this happening? Is this default NHib behaviour or something coming from Fluent NHibs AutoPersistenceModel? If there's no way to stop this, what do I do? Unless I'm missing the point this behaviour seems to create a right mess, violating my UoW. Im using NHibernate 2.0.1.4 and a Fluent NHib build from 18/3/2009 Edit, is this guy right with his answer? Edit: I've also read that overriding an Event Listener could be a solution to this. However, IDirtyCheckEventListener.OnDirtyCheck isn't called in this situation. Does anyone know which listener I need to override? Thanks Andrew

  How likely is a revision conflict when using an update handler? Should I concern myself with conflict-handling code when writing a robust update function? As described in Document Update Handlers, CouchDB 0.10 and later allows on-demand server-side document modification. Update handlers can process non-JSON formats; but the other major features are these: An HTTP front-end to arbitrarily complex document modification code Similar code needn't be written for all possible clients—a DRY architecture Execution is faster and less likely to hit a revision conflict I am unclear about the third point. Executing locally, the update handler will run much faster and with lower latency. But in situations with high contention, that does not guarantee a successful update.   So the function nl2br is handy. Except in my web app, I want to do the opposite, interpret line breaks as new lines, since they will be echoed into a pre-filled form. str_replace can take <br /> and replace it with whatever I want, but if I put in \n, it echoes literally a backslash and an n. It only works if I put a literal line break in the middle of my script, and break the indentation (so there are no trailing space). See: <?=str_replace('<br />',' ',$foo)?> Am I missing escape characters? I think I tried every combination...

  I have a form being AJAX'd in by jQuery on a page with multiple forms. I'm performing the following function, which is a wrapper for the $.ajax function: function do_json_get(uri){ var ret = ''; var url = AJAX_URL + uri; $.ajax({ type: 'GET', url: url, async: false, success: function(data) { ret = data.html; }, dataType: 'json' }); return ret; } When I go to the AJAX server directly (which is rendering the form in PHP), I get the raw JSON response - so I know the server is outputting to the browser, and the AJAX server is doing other things like setting the proper cookies, so I know that the connection is good (I get a 200 response code). Yet the data object is coming back null. What else could I be missing?

• Sharepoint Foundation 2010 development single machine installation problems

  I'm having problems installing development machine for Sharepoint (Foundation) 2010. This is what I did so far on the same machine: Installed a clean Windows 7 x64 with 4GB of RAM without being part of any domain. Just a simple standalone machine. Enabled IIS related features as described here except IIS6 related ones (two of them) Installed SQL Server 2008 R2 Development Edition (DB Engine and Writer being enabled but not SQL Agent) Installed Visual Studio 2010 Premium Started installing Sharepoint Foundation 2010 with first extracting files, changing config to enable Windows 7 installation and then installed it as Server Farm (then Complete) to avoid installing SQL Express. Created a separate SPF_CONFIG local user with Logon on as a service right. Opened SPF Management Shell and run New-SPConfigurationDatabase so I am able to use a non-domain username (SPF_CONFIG that I created in the previous step) But all I get is this: The outcome after this error is: Database Sharepoint2010Config is created User SPF_CONFIG is added to SQL Server and attached to this newly created database as dbowner and checking SQL server security logins this user has following rights: dbcreator securityadmin public

• postgres - ERROR: syntax error at or near "COST"

  EDIT Taking COST 100 out made the command go through, however, I'm still unable to run my query because it yields this error: ERROR: function group_concat(character) does not exist HINT: No function matches the given name and argument types. You may need to add explicit type casts. The query I'm running is this: select tpid, group_concat(z) as z, group_concat(cast(r as char(2))) as r, group_concat(to_char(datecreated,'DD-Mon-YYYY HH12:MI am')) as datecreated, group_concat(to_char(datemodified,'DD-Mon-YYYY HH12:MI am')) as datemodified from tpids group by tpid order by tpid, zip This function seems to work fine locally, but moving it online yields this error... Is there something I'm missing? • simpledateformat parsing date with 'Z' literal

  I am trying to parse a date that looks like this: 2010-04-05T17:16:00Z This is a valid date per http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc3339.txt. The 'Z' literal "imply that UTC is the preferred reference point for the specified time." If I try to parse it using SimpleDateFormat and this pattern: yyyy-MM-dd'T'HH:mm:ss It will be parsed as a Mon Apr 05 17:16:00 EDT 2010 SimpleDateFormat is unable to parse the string with these patterns: yyyy-MM-dd'T'HH:mm:ssz yyyy-MM-dd'T'HH:mm:ssZ I can explicitly set the TimeZone to use on the SimpleDateFormat to get the expected output, but I don't think that should be necessary. Is there something I am missing? Is there an alternative date parser?
