  Hello, I've got a Problem with ArrayList. I need it to store a result. Because I want to start with element n I tryed to give the ArrayList a capacity with ensureCapacity(n+1) to use set(n,x) but I get an IndexOutOfBoundsException. I tryed to store n add(x) before the use of set and this works. So I'd like to know why it doesn't work on my way and how to solve this because put n times a add(x) isn't a good style ;-) Best regards, Sebastian

• How to improve the use of Delphi Frames

  I've used frames in Delphi for years, and they are one of the most powerful features of the VCL, but standard use of them seems to have some risk such as: It's easy to accidentally move or edit the frame sub-components on a frame's host form without realising that you are 'tweaking' with the frame - I know this does not affect the original frame code, but it's generally not what you would want. When working with the frame you are still exposed to its sub-components for visual editing, even when that frame is years old and should not be touched. So I got to thinking.... Is there a way of 'grouping' components such that their positions are 'locked'? This would be useful for finished forms as well as frames. Often other developers return code to me where only the form bounds have changed and even they did not intend any change. Is there any way of turning a frame and its components into a single Delphi component? If so, the frame internals would be completely hidden and its useability would increase further. I'm interested in any thoughts... Brian.

• JSF 2.0: Validate equality of 2 InputSecret Fields (confirm password) without writing Code?

  I'm developing a pure JavaEE6 application with JSF 2.0 and Glassfish. My JSF implementation is Primefaces (beside Mojarra provided by Glassfish). I want to verify if the values of 2 password fields in a JSF form are equal. With Seam, there is the neat component <s:validateEquality for="pw1"/>. I want do to the same without Seam, just using JSF (or maybe a component of a JSF library). Until now i only saw examples which validate the form with a custom validator. But i would like to compare the fields without writing Java code or Javascript code. Is that possible? • Any way to simulate MouseOver in WPF

  I'm working on a link control in WPF which fits the text with icon links case in the Windows UX Guide. What I want is to have some text within a hyperlink that appears to the right of some image. In my case I started off by using a TextBlock that contained a Hyperlink which then contained my image and some text. <TextBlock> <Hyperlink> <Rectangle Height="16" Width="16" Fill="{StaticResource MyIconBrush}" Stretch="UniformToFill" VerticalAlignment="Center" HorizontalAlignment="Left" /> <Run>My link text</Run> </Hyperlink> </TextBlock> The problem with this however was that the image being taller than my text produced an effect where the text was aligned to the bottom. Unfortunately I haven't found any way to control the vertical alignment within the TextBlock or within the Hyperlink so I've resorted to attempting an alternative layout where the Hyperlink and the Rectangle that represent my vector icon are separated in order to get them to align properly like shown below. <TextBlock> <Hyperlink> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <Rectangle Height="16" Width="16" Fill="{StaticResource MyIconBrush}" Stretch="UniformToFill" VerticalAlignment="Center" HorizontalAlignment="Left" /> <TextBlock VerticalAlignment="Center"><Hyperlink>My link text<Hyperlink></TextBlock> </StackPanel> </Hyperlink> </TextBlock> The problem with this however is that now that my Icon and my Hyperlink are separated I don't get my MouseOver appearance of my link when I the mouse is over my icon and vise-versa. So this got me to thinking, how do I simulate MouseOver for a given control such with a checkbox where you get the MouseOver effect on the box when you actually mouse over it's associated text. I know in the HTML world the label element has a for attribute that can be used to specify which control it is labeling which will basically do what I'm looking for. Also I can imagine that in other scenarios it may be nice to have a label that when you mouse over shows a corresponding text box as if the mouse is over it and possibly when clicked focus is given to the corresponding text box as well. For now though I'm interested mainly in how to to get a label or label like element in WPF to act as a proxy for a given control in terms of it's MouseOver state. Also I would like to do this purely in XAML if possible.

• How to combine a relative top with an absolute bottom in CSS?

  I need to define a div which must stay with the top at the normal position, which differs from the top of the surrounding element: position:relative top:0 and which grows in the height up to the size of the surrounding element: position:absolute bottom:0 I have no idea how to combine the both. Whenever I use a relative box I loose the absolute bottom and whenever I use an absolute box I loose the relative top. Can anybody help me how to do this in CSS? • Java HashSet<Integer> to int array

  I've got a HashSet with a bunch of (you guessed it) integers in it. I want to turn it into an array, but calling hashset.toArray(); returns an array of Object type. This is fine, but is there a better way to cast it to an array of int, other than iterating through every element manually? A method I want to pass it to void doSomething(int[] arr) Won't accept the Object[] array, even if I try casting it like doSomething((int[]) hashSet.toArray());

  I'm trying to call DisplayFor and DisplayForModel to iterate an IEnumerable< with various element types from within a view. I have Templates defined for each element/Model type. What I would like to do is check the ViewData.ModelMetadata.ContainerType from within the Template so that Template can determine if it was called as part of a collection. Perhaps by creating a ModelMetadataProviders? I looked into that breifly but it appears the ContainerType value is determined before and then passed to the Provider. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

• using ResultSet.Previous method not working in Java using .mdb file OBDC

• Grails - Simple hasMany Problem - How does 'save' work?

  My problem is this: I want to create a grails domain instance, defining the 'Many' instances of another domain that it has. I have the actual source in a Google Code Project but the following should illustrate the problem. class Person { String name static hasMany[skills:Skill] static constraints = { id (visible:false) skills (nullable:false, blank:false) } } class Skill { String name String description static constraints = { id (visible:false) name (nullable:false, blank:false) description (nullable:false, blank:false) } } If you use this model and def scaffold for the two Controllers then you end up with a form like this that doesn't work; My own attempt to get this to work enumerates the Skills as checkboxes and looks like this; But when I save the Volunteer the skills are null! When the volunteer is saved the 'Skills' are ignored and not commited to the database despite the in memory version created clearly does have the items. Is it not possible to pass the Skills at construction time? There must be a way round this? I need a single form to allow a person to register but I want to normalise the data so that I can add more skills at a later time. • How do you determine subtype of an entity using Inheritance with Entity Framework 4?

  I am just starting to use the Entity Framework 4 for the first time ever. So far I am liking it but I am a bit confused on how to correctly do inheritance. I am doing a model-first approach, and I have my Person entity with two subtype entities, Employee and Client. EF is correctly using the table per type approach, however I can't seem to figure out how to determine what type of a Person a specific object is. For example, if I do something like var people = from p in entities.Person select p; return people.ToList<Person>(); In my list that I form from this, all I care about is the Id field so i don't want to actually query all the subtype tables (this is a webpage list with links, so all I need is the name and the Id, all in the Persons table). However, I want to form different lists using this one query, one for each type of person (so one list for Clients and another for Employees). The issue is if I have a Person entity, I can't see any way to determine if that entity is a Client or an Employee without querying the Client or Employee tables directly. How can I easily determine the subtype of an entity without performing a bunch of additional database queries?
