• Convert my aspx page to png image

  I am generating an aspx page which then I need to convert to png and store it somewhere. A similiar situation with mine was asked before here but got still no response. I tried also the code that the Swapnil Fegade has asked but the code is looping continually making request to loading page and no conversion is actually being done. I found some solutions on the web also but they require WebBrowser control which i understood can be used in windows form but i am building a web project. Can you give me any hint or suggest any article that shows a full example doing this task. Thank you guys in advance.

• .NET & ASP vs PHP

  Earlier today I asked wether it would be a good idea to develop websites using C#. Most of the answers pointed towards .NET and ASP. Currently I develop with PHP. I've dabbled with Python and RoR but I always come back to PHP. This is the first time I've looked at .NET and ASP. A bucket load of Google searches later I'm not really seeing much support for ASP online but then it all seems a bit Biased towards PHP/Apache/MySQL. It looks like there's a fair amount of .NET and ASP folk around here so I figured it's worth a shot asking for their input in attempt to try and address the balance in my own head. It can't all be bad. What advantages are there to .NET and ASP over PHP?

• Need help creating flash animation with clickable buttons at the end.

  Very inexperienced with Flash, but I hope this is simple enough for someone to walk me through. I'm ultimately trying to create a flash page for an html website that has a brief five-second animation during which 3 buttons fade in (buttons then become clickable after the animation is over). The animation part is done. Right now, I am trying to get my movie to stop and hold on the last frame, where I want to add the 3 buttons that the user can click on to take them to one 3 different html pages of my website. All instructions that I've found online have said to create a new layer for actions, insert a keyframe on the last frame of the movie, and add stop(); in the actionscript window. However, when I have the keyframe selected, my actionscript window says "current selection cannot have actions applied to it". Any ideas? I definitely don't have any objects selected, just the keyframe. Or, am I approaching this totally wrong?

• Sharing [config] data across modules,functions

  I have some configuration data in a config file that I read off disk when the app starts. I need to make that configuration data available to other functions/modules in the application. I started down the path of looking into ets/mnesia to store the data on startup to make it shared among all processes, but then my inner voice cautioned me that there must be a more functional, erlang-y way to do this. The only alternate approach I've come up with so far is setting up a module that has an actor loop that reads the data on startup and responds to messages like {Key, From} and responds by From ! {ok,Value}. • Call function in query in Entity framework 3.5

  Hello All: I am trying to run following query in entity framework 3.5 var test = from e in customers where IsValid(e) select e; Here IsValid function takes current customer and validate against some conditions and returns false or true. But when I am trying to run the query it is giving error "LINQ Method cannot be translated into a store expression." Can any body tell me any other approach? One approach I can think of is to write all validation conditions here, but that will make the code difficult to read. Thanks Ashwani

  I am trying to create a table in my MS SQL database for Languages. I want to store an English name of Language and a local name of language in the database. i.e. Language, Language(local) English, English German, Deutsch Italian, Italiano Japanese, ??? ... ... I have 279 languages that I want to import, but when I import it shows '?????' for some like japanese, Russian and arabic etc The database Collation is Latin1_General_CI_AS. I would also like advise on multilingual websites; if i have a database of product descriptions and I want to have translation in multiple languages, should I go for separate databases or Can I have translation in one databse? (I prefer not to duplicate data!). Anything else to make sure users are able to write comments in different languages (char encoding on web?) and can be stored in database.

• Storing search result for paging and sorting

  I've been implementing MS Search Server 2010 and so far its really good. Im doing the search queries via their web service, but due to the inconsistent results, im thinking about caching the result instead. The site is a small intranet (500 employees), so it shouldnt be any problems, but im curious what approach you would take if it was a bigger site. I've googled abit, but havent really come over anything specific. So, a few questions: What other approaches are there? And why are they better? How much does it cost to store a dataview of 400-500 rows? What sizes are feasible? Other points you should take into consideration. Any input is welcome :)

  Presently, we've got several main projects each in their own repository. We will have to version-control up to a dozen additional projects. VisualSVN recommends to create 1 respository for our company and then vc all projects inside that. It's a good practice to create one repository for the entire company or department and store all your projects in this repository. Creating separate repository for each project is not a good idea because in that case you will not be able to perform Subversion operations like copy, diff and merge cross-project. VisualSvn.com Currently we're using post-commit hooks to update the testing server with the latest commit and do other project specific actions (such as emailing certain people for one project but not for others) depending on which project has been committed. As post-commit runs for the whole repository, is this still possible in such a situation? How would I go about decerning which project has changes? filter folder structure?

• Comparing lists of objects and update

  I have a view, passing a LIST of Originals to this method. Before the post happened, i changed some of the properties. I now receive the updated list as a parameter in my method and would like to update the database with these new values. [HttpPost] public ActionResult NewValue(Page model) { var ListOfOriginals = Session.Query<Original>().ToList(); //GETS the objects i want to update listOfOriginals = Model.Pages // Model.page is the new list containing the updated values RavenSession.SaveChanges(); return RedirectToAction("Index"); } When i debug, i can see that listOfOriginals gets the new values. The problem is that i dont know how to update the RavenDB whith these new values. I tried adding this: Session.Store(listOfOriginals) before the SaveChanges() but that resulted in an error. Maybe there is a much better way of doing this?

  Hey guys, I would like to write a small C++ app and run it on chrome using the native client API. I have a few questions though: 1) I compiled the examples on Ubuntu and ran the code on firefox but can't run it on chrome (using version 5.0.342.7 beta) Do I need to install something? An extension/plugin? 2) I can't find a single online application I could run? Links anyone, I want to see the power of this thing without having to compile the code locally. I was thinking about the book "Thinking in Java (4th Edition)"....Unfortunately, its deals with Java SE 5 and not the latest version. • Hbase schema design -- to make sorting easy?

  I have 1M words in my dictionary. Whenever a user issue a query on my website, I will see if the query contains the words in my dictionary and increment the counter corresponding to them individually. Here is the example, say if a user type in "Obama is a president" and "Obama" and "president" are in my dictionary, then I should increment the counter by 1 for "Obama" and "president". And from time to time, I want to see the top 100 words (most queried words). If I use Hbase to store the counter, what schema should I use? -- I have not come up an efficient one yet. If I use word in my dictionary as row key, and "counter" as column key, then updating counter(increment) is very efficient. But it's very hard to sort and return the top 100. Anyone can give a good advice? Thanks.

• Bitfield With 3 States...?

  I'm trying to create an authorization scheme for my ASP.NET MVC application where an Enum is used to set permissions. For example: [Flags] enum Permissions { ReadAppointments = 1, WriteAppointments = 2 | ReadAppointments, ReadPatients = 4, WritePatients = 8 | ReadPatients, ReadInvoices = 16, WriteInvoices = 32 | ReadInvoices ... } But I don't really like that because it really doesn't make it clear that Write always includes Read. I then realized that a requirement would be that a user might have NO access to, for example, Appointments. Essentially, I'd want a "bitfield" with 3 states: none, readonly, full (read/write). I'd like to still use an enum bitfield since it's easy to store in a DB (as an int). Also it's very easy to see if a permission is set. Does anyone have any idea how this could be easily accomplished using an Enum... or am I going in the completely wrong direction?

  I have my greasemonkey script scanning every page i visit for a specific string. I would like to recordkeep the variations of the string in a sqlite db. I'll have another app process this db everyonce in a while. What i dont know is HOW do i store the data into the sqlite db? i was thinking i can launch an executable automatically if the string was found but i dont know how to do that through javascript. Another alternative i thought was have a socket listen on a certain port and have some js magic but i couldnt think of a silent way to send data like that.

  I have 2 tables, Stores - storeId (int) and year (int(4)) both Primary Keys. fruit - fruitId - Primary Key and storeId. I need to create 1 to many relationship between the Store and Fruit (Foreign Key held within Fruit) how ever I always get shown the error - The Columns in table <table> do not match an existing primary key or unique constraint. The type's are both int and named the same. Any help would be appreciate in advance, many thanks.

• Why state cannot be part of Presenter in MVP?

One of them is persistence of the View’s state. For instance, if the Model, being a domain object, does not know anything about the UI, and the View does not implement any business logic, then where would we store the state of the View’s elements such as selected items? Fowler comes up with a solution in the form of a Presentation Model pattern. I wonder why Presenter can't hold View state? It already holds all View logic. As far as I understand, in MVC and MVP the state is kept in View. In PM and MVVM the state is kept in the Presentation Model. Why can't Presenter follow PM in this particular case and contain the state of the view?   For example, i have a column named EmployeeName. Every time a user changes/fix his name, i need to keep a count. If he changes his name twice, then count is 2. Also, i need to store the time of every change employee makes on EmployeeName e.g. if the name essentially is James and time created is 9:00 AM and then employee changes to John on 11:00 AM, i need to preserve this new time and new value as well as the previous one which is James at 9:00 AM.   If invoices can be voided, should they be used as quotations? I have an Invoices tables that is created from inventory associated with a Job or Order. I could have a Quotes table as a halfway-house between inventory and invoices, but it feels like I would have duplicate data structures and logic just to handle an "Is this a quote?" bit. From a business perspective, quotes are different from invoices: a quote is sent prior to an undertaking and an invoice is sent once it is complete and payment is due, but how to represent this in my repository and model. • mod_xsendfile serving download.php and not the filename

  Hello, The apache mod_xsendfile is a good solution for what I want but its not working properly. In firefox it serves the file but as download.php (name of the file with the code in). In safari and chrome it serves an empty file. • How can I export images from SQL Server to a file on disk?

  I have a User table that has all of their avatars saved in an image field. I'd like to just take that out of the database and store it as a regular file on disk.
