    Recently i've been doing string comparing jobs on CUDA, and i wonder how can a global function return a value when it finds the exact string that i'm looking for. I mean, i need the global function which contains a great amout of threads to find a certain string among a big big string-pool simultaneously, and i hope that once the exact string is caught, the global funtion can stop all the threads and return back to the main funtion, and tells me "he did it"! B.T.W., I'm using CUDA C .How could i possibly achieve that, waiting for help.

  • IIS7.5 Domain Account Application Pool Identity for SQL Server Authentication

    In Windows Server 2003/IIS6 land we typically create an app pool that runs as the identity of an AD account created with minimal privileges simply for that purpose. This same domain user would also be granted access to SQL Server so that any ASP.NET application in that app pool would be able to connect to SQL Server with Integrated Security=SSPI. We are making a brave move to the world of Windows Server 2008 R2/IIS7.5 and are looking to replicate this model, but I am struggling with how to make the application pool in IIS7.5 run as the identity of an AD account? I know this sounds simple and hopefully it is, but my attempts so far have been fruitless. Should the application pool identity be a 'Custom account' for a domain account? Does the domain account need to be added to any groups?

I followed this HOWTO from MSDN, and the setup seems to be working fine: add a record to one table on server A, query on server B shows the new record. So far, so good. EDIT OK, so after some more research and setting up with different databases etc, I found out that the calculated 'Id' column of the Templates table is the culprit. I don't know why, but the replication doesn't seem to allow calculated columns (which are also primary key). It works now too, without the 'Id' column, and using the NodeId and LocalId as a combined PK. So now the question is, why isn't it allowed to have a calculated column as PK for replication with conflict detection?

  • MOSS 2007 SP2 - Error while provisioning SSP.

    This is a brand new installation I am trying to provision the first SSP for MOSS and I keep getting the following error: (Provisioning failed: A transport-level error has occurred when receiving results from the server. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - The semaphore timeout period has expired.)) The error also keeps appearing in the Application Event Log as event ID 7888. Google searches tell me its a connection between the Sharepoint server and the SQL server however, this is a production SQL Server which has several databases on it that do not experience any problems. These databases also include the Central Admin and Web Application databases for Sharepoint which are all working fine. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    I don't have access to the Active Directory settings, nor do I have access to change anything on the linked server. From everything I've read, it seems like this means I cannot use Kerberos - which is a big problem, because I don't know how to use a linked server without it. Is there any way to connect to a linked server without Kerberos? Exact problem description When I connect to the linked server while sitting in front of my server, it works fine; but when I try to connect to the linked server from any other computer (delegating through my server), it gives the error: Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 18456) It seems that this is the "double-hop problem," and the usual solution is to enable Kerberos, which requires access to AD and the linked server. I get the same error when I set security to "Be made using the login's current security context," and I can't use "Be made using this security context" because that appears to use SQL-authentication (which is not enabled on the linked server) instead of NTLM

  • How do I change the number of days a copied transaction log is kept in a log shipping configuration?

    I think this is a pretty simple and perhaps stupid question. I've established log shipping between two SQL Server 2008 servers using the GUI (i.e. the SQL Server Management Studio). It's been running fine -- but now I want to change the number of days the copied files are retained on the secondary server. Is it simply a matter of going back to the GUI and change it there. Is it smart enough just to make that simple change or is the GUI only used to create the initial log shipping configuration?

    Hello, I have two machines: A: Win 2008 server B: Windows 7 They are on the same workgroup, and I enabled network discovery. So on the server, I have SQL Server installed with a SQL Server account (mixed mode is enabled). I'm trying to connect to this server from the win 7 machine in the workgroup, but no go. Do I have to reference the server by something else than machine name? How do I successfully establish that relation? I am a n00b to this type of thing... Thanks.

    I'm getting some conflicting advice on how to best configure our SQL storage with our current SAN. I would like to do some of my own performance testing with a few different configurations. I looked at using SQLIOSim but it doesn't seem to simulate TempDB. Can anyone recommend a way to test data, log and TempDB performance? What about using a SQL profiler trace file from our production system? How would I use This to run against my test server? Thanks, Matt

  • Moving MODx Files to Other MODx Website

    I have one website with modx installed to www.website.com/modx/ --- Keep in mind there are other Websites In Progress on this storage server. My issue is that I'm moving all this: templates, template variables, chunks, snippets, etc to another server that already has modx installed in it. My first instinct is to go to phpMyAdmin and export the sql file and import them to the new website's server. However, an error occurred when I attempted to do this. It had found many duplicates in fields that were associated a PK (due to it being the same website just a redesign). I don't have to go and dump the table of the oldsite and then upload the new sql file do i? Please advise.

  • How can I get Transaction Logs to auto-truncate after Backup

    Setup: Sql Server 2008 R2, databases set up with Full recovery mode. I have set up a maintenance plan that backs up the transaction logs for a number of databases on the server. It is set to create backup files in sub-directories for each database, verify backup integrity is turned on, and backup compression is used. The job is set to run once every 2 hours during business hours (8am-6pm). I have tested the job and it runs fine, creates the log backup files as it should. However, from what I have read, once the transaction log is backed up, it should be ok to truncate the transaction log. I do not see any option for doing this in the Sql Server Maintenance Plan designer. How can I set this up?

    I have setup mirroring on my MSSQL server it is an automatic fail over. Lets say the SQL server goes down. I had already installed MS SQL Database Express Edition 2008 during 2005 setup. But when I removed 2008 one and tried to install 2005 afterwards it still failed with same error. The error happens when I am trying to install Dragon Age Toolset or Visual 2008 Pro edition. I do not known which else informations may be valuable as I never before encountered problems with installing MS database

  • How to recreate missing Team Foundation Server database?

    I've been trying out TFS 2010 Beta 2 on my local machine, or at least, had installed ready to do so. I had some issues with my MSSQL2008 server so I completely uninstalled and re-installed it and that sorted it. However, I'm now in limbo with TFS. I have the software installed, but it has none of the SQL databases installed that go with it. I had no data and am not precious about how to go about it. I figure completely uninstalling and re-installing might be an idea and will most likely fix it (repair didn't work). Is there a quicker way?
