  • Which PHP framework is closest to Ruby on Rails? CakePHP? CodeIgniter?

    I'm going to be switching back and forth between Ruby on Rails projects and some as-of-yet undecided PHP MVC framework projects. Which of the PHP MVC frameworks out there (CakePHP, CodeIgniter?, others?) is most similar to Ruby on Rails in that the most conventions, locations, workflows, etc are preserved? I'm looking for the similarity in the way things are done such as directory structures, conventions, etc, not a pros vs cons in speed, extra features, etc.

  • Is there a Javascript cron implementation somewhere that I'm missing?

    I'm aware of timing issues in Javascript, how its not exact/off by milliseconds etc, but I need something to at least attempt to do browser-based scheduling. In terms of features, I'm thinking something along the lines of scheduling patterns described here: http://www.sauronsoftware.it/projects/cron4j/manual.php#p02 Anything out there? I've done google searches and haven't found any implementation worth nothing.

    A classes Type metadata can be obtained in several ways. Two of them are: var typeInfo = Type.GetType("MyClass") and var typeInfo = typeof(MyClass) The advantage of the second way is that typos will be caught by the compiler, and the IDE can understand what I'm talking about (allowing features like refactoring to work without silently breaking the code) Does there exist an equivalent way of strongly referencing members/properties/methods for metadata and reflection? Can I replace: var propertyInfo = typeof(MyClass).GetProperty("MyProperty") with something like: var propertyInfo = property(MyClass.MyProperty)

  • Get info from multiple files, match it and then display to end user, what is fastest?

    Hi, I need to build a website where we display data that is refreshed every 5minutes in a text file with a | separator. I currently use Java to do this. What I do now: I grab the textfile for every request through the website and process it and then display the data to the end user, this works fine, since Java can go through like 5000 lines of data fast, and when I filter it it is still extremely fast. However now the management wants the following: They added 3 textfiles with the | separator to it, and now want me to also read those files and match the information on certain fields, and if there is a match also display that information to the end user. I think soon enough, although Java is fast, I will run into trouble when 10 people want that information and I have to run through 4 total files matching the information. What can I do to make this process super fast? My Creative solutions so far: -Leave it this way, since Java is fast and end users can wait (probably less then 1second) -Have a background process that dumps new data into a MySQL database every 5minutes, since databases are extremely good at getting the same data from multiple tables. So, there's no boost::unorded_map, no make_shared() factory function to create boost::shared_ptr and other features available in newer releases of boost. Is there're a newer version of boost compatible with the version of gcc? If yes, how the upgrade is performed?

  • Display web page from another site in asp page.

    hi all, Our customer has a requirement to extend the functionality of their existing large government project. It is an ASP.NET 3.5 (recently upgraded from 2.0) project. The existing solution is quite a behemoth that is almost unmaintainable so they have decided that they want to provide the new functionality by hosting it on another website that is shown within the existing website. As to how this is best to be done I'm not quite sure right now and if there is any security issues preventing it or that need to be considered. Essentially the user would log on to the existing web site as normal and when cliicking on a certain link the page would load as normal with some kind of frame or control that has within it the contents of the page from the other site. IE. They do not want to simply redirect to the other site they want to show it embedded within the current one such that the existing menus etc are still available. I believe if information needed to be passed to the embedded page it would be done using query strings as I'm not sure if there is even another way to accomplish this. Can anyone give me some pointers on where to start at looking to implement this or any potential pitfalls I should be aware of. Thanks

  • PHP Netbeans 6.8 subversion integration (Windows 7)

    I am using Netbeans 6.8 for PHP (under Windows 7) and the subversion integration doesn't work. I am able to checkout a module but I don't see the subversion features in the menus or the outine in the editor left margin that shows the changes in the files. I am using it under Ubuntu with no problems. Did any of you experimented the same problem? If yes, were you able to make it work? Thanks!

    If I use M-x shell and run the interactive Python interpreter, Emacs on Windows does not return any IO. When I discovered M-x python-shell, I regained hope. However, instead of running the interactive Python shell, I want to run a specific Python script that features an interactive CLI. (See Python's cmd module for details). Is there a way of launching a Python script in Emacs that is interactive? (stdout, stdin, stderr)

  • How to set up an Eclipse P2 server using Google Sites?

    I'm trying to use Google Sites to host an Eclipse P2 site. However, Install New Software fails to the site because the features and plugins directories are not found. It seems that Google Sites only simulates subdirectories on FileCabinet pages. Is there an alternative Google Sites approach? Or is there a way to set up a P2 site without subdirectories or so that Install New Software will reference a zip file? Any alternative recommendations?

    I'm a bit confused as to what a viewmodel's role is beyond databinding. I have a menu built in silverlight. The menu has x number of menu items which is determined at runtime. One of the features I would like to add to this is that each menuitem has a different text colour when hovered over. Is it the role of the view to have a colour selector method or should the view handle this in it's code behind?

    Hey stackoverflow :) I wanna use webbrowser control in c++(im using dev cpp). Ages ago when i was using VB6 i just added webbrowser control (C:\Windows\System32\shdocvw.dll) to my form and it worked but im lost in C++... should i load it dynamically with LoadLibrary and then somehow put it on my dialog window or how? I also wanna use all features like navigate to page, edit html elements, submit a form, read page source, ... Someome got some snippet? Cheers

    I was studying the legacy API's in the Java's Collection Framework and I learnt that classes such as Vector and HashTable have been superseded by ArrayList and HashMap. However still they are NOT deprecated, and deemed as legacy when essentially, deprecation is applied to software features that are superseded and should be avoided, so, I am not sure when is a API deemed legacy and when it is deprecated.
