    There are a few related questions, but I can't find an answer that works. Assuming I have the following models: public class EditorViewModel { public Account Account {get;set;} public string SomeSimpleStuff {get;set;} } public class Account { public string AccountName {get;set;} public int MorePrimitivesFollow {get;set;} } and a view that extends ViewPage<EditorViewModel> which does the following: <%= Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.Account.AccountName)%> <%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.Account.AccountName)%> <%= Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.SomeSimpleStuff )%> <%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.SomeSimpleStuff )%> and my controller looks like: [HttpPost] public virtual ActionResult Edit(EditorViewModel account) { /*...*/ } How can I get the DefaultModelBinder to properly bind my EditorViewModel? Without doing anything special, I get an empty instance of my EditorViewModel with everything null or default. The closest I've come is by calling UpdateModel manually: [HttpPost] public virtual ActionResult Edit(EditorViewModel account) { account.Account = new Account(); UpdateModel(account.Account, "Account"); // this kills me: UpdateModel(account); This successfully updates my Account property model, but when I call UpdateModel on account (to get the rest of the public properties of my EditorViewModel) I get the completely unhelpful "The model of type ... could not be updated." There is no inner exception, so I can't figure out what's going wrong. What should I do with this?

  • Linux memory fragmentation

    Hi all, Is there a way to detect memory fragmentation on linux ? This is because on some long running servers I have noticed performance degradation and only after I restart process I see better performance. I noticed it more when using linux huge page support -- are huge pages in linux more prone to fragmentation ? I have looked at /proc/buddyinfo in particular. I want to know whether there are any better ways(not just CLI commands per se, any program or theoretical background would do) to look at it.

    I have a custom model binder that uses data from session, tempdata, and form collection (hypothetically, of course!). When testing my model binder, need to create a ModelBindingContext with a ValueProvider. Trouble is, I can't see how I can have one ValueProvider that serves multiple value provider types. In the model, I've created the onError method, and I can access error details with $this-getDataSource()-error; However I can't redirect or set a flash message because that can only take place in the controller, so what should I be doing here to communicate the error to the user?

  • Movement and Collision with AABB

    I'm having a little difficulty figuring out the following scenarios. http://i.stack.imgur.com/8lM6i.png In scenario A, the moving entity has fallen to (and slightly into the floor). The current position represents the projected position that will occur if I apply the acceleration & velocity as usual without worrying about collision. The Next position, represents the corrected projection position after collision check. The resulting end position is the falling entity now rests ON the floor--that is, in a consistent state of collision by sharing it's bottom X axis with the floor's top X axis. My current update loop looks like the following: // figure out forces & accelerations and project an objects next position // check collision occurrence from current position -> projected position // if a collision occurs, adjust projection position Which seems to be working for the scenario of my object falling to the floor. However, the situation becomes sticky when trying to figure out scenario's B & C. In scenario B, I'm attempt to move along the floor on the X axis (player is pressing right direction button) additionally, gravity is pulling the object into the floor. The problem is, when the object attempts to move the collision detection code is going to recognize that the object is already colliding with the floor to begin with, and auto correct any movement back to where it was before. In scenario C, I'm attempting to jump off the floor. Again, because the object is already in a constant collision with the floor, when the collision routine checks to make sure moving from current position to projected position doesn't result in a collision, it will fail because at the beginning of the motion, the object is already colliding. How do you allow movement along the edge of an object? How do you allow movement away from an object you are already colliding with. Extra Info My collision routine is based on AABB sweeping test from an old gamasutra article, http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/3383/simple_intersection_tests_for_games.php?page=3 My bounding box implementation is based on top left/bottom right instead of midpoint/extents, so my min/max functions are adjusted.   • VMWare - persistent "Host memory status" alarm in vSphere

    I have a particular VMWare ESX 4.1 host that has a very persistent "Host memory status" alarm. This is running on an HP ProLiant DL360 G7 server. The HP ILO and System Management agents don't know any errors. If I clear the alarm in the vSphere client, it returns within a day. I've tried reseating DIMMs, however, the error does not indicate a problem with a specific module. There's another host in the cluster with an identical configuration. It's not exhibiting any issues. Any thoughts? This is touched on briefly on other forums (and here) with no clear resolution.

  • Need to find jni.h in cmake on Mac

    I am trying to make VTK compile on a Mac Air machine. I am using CMake 2.8-9, using Xcode4 as the generator. If I press the Configure button with VTK_WRAP_JAVA not checked, it will go with no errors. However I definitely need to use the wrap java since my main program is in Java and I need to get to VTK which is c++. As soon as I check the wrap Java, I get Could NOT find JNI. It apparently is looking for jni.h which in Linux there is no problem finding, but in the Mac it apparently can't find it. I did a locate jni.h and got new-host-2:~ geraldkolodny$ locate jni.h /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/MacOSX.platform/Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.7.sdk/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/A/Headers/jni.h /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/MacOSX.platform/Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.8.sdk/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/A/Headers/jni.h /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.7.0_07.jdk/Contents/Home/include/jni.h I tried to manually put into JAVA_INCLUDE_PATH2 either entry 2 or 3 (without the jni.h at the end), but it still can't find jni.h.     Pardon if this is more stackoverflow vs. serverfault. It seems to be on the border. We have an application that caches a large amount of product data for an e-commerce application using ASP.NET caching. This is a dictionary object with 65K elements, and our calculations put the object's size at ~10GB. Problem: The amount of memory the object consumes seems to be far in excess of our 10GB calculation. BIGGEST CONCERN: We can't seem to use over 60% of the 32GB in the server. What we've tried so far: In machine.config/system.web (sf doesn't allow the tags, pardon the formatting): processModel autoConfig="true" memoryLimit="80" In web.config/system.web/caching/cache (sf doesn't allow the tags, pardon the formatting): privateBytesLimit = "20000000000" (and 0, the default of course) percentagePhysicalMemoryUsedLimit = "90" Environment: Windows 2008R2 x64 32GB RAM IIS7 Nothing seems to allow us to exceed the 60% value.   • Should I consolidate multiple identical VMs into BSD jails?

    We run a number of Openfire XMPP/Jabber servers. Due to the way Openfire works, we cannot easily run multiple Openfire instances on one server, so I have 5 identical VMware ESXi VMs, each with CentOS, MySQl, Java, and Openfire. They're the exact same, except for their IP addresses, the actual Openfire MySQL database and it's config file. I am wondering if this is the optimal configuration, or if it would be better to move these VMs to a single FreeBSD machine and put each one inside a FreeBSD jail. Specifically, I am wondering if the benefit of VMWare's Transparent Page Sharing (TPS) would outweight the cost of running 5 identical OSes. Would I end up using less memory with one large FreeBSD machine and java running in bsd jails?

  • Adding SSE support in Java EE 8

    SSE (Server-Sent Event) is a standard mechanism used to push, over HTTP, server notifications to clients.  SSE is often compared to WebSocket as they are both supported in HTML 5 and they both provide the server a way to push information to their clients but they are different too! See here for some of the pros and cons of using one or the other. For REST application, SSE can be quite complementary as it offers an effective solution for a one-way publish-subscribe model, i.e. a REST client can 'subscribe' and get SSE based notifications from a REST endpoint. As a matter of fact, Jersey (JAX-RS Reference Implementation) already support SSE since quite some time (see the Jersey documentation for more details). There might also be some cases where one might want to use SSE directly from the Servlet API. Sending SSE notifications using the Servlet API is relatively straight forward. To give you an idea, check here for 2 SSE examples based on the Servlet 3.1 API.  We are thinking about adding SSE support in Java EE 8 but the question is where as there are several options, in the platform, where SSE could potentially be supported: the Servlet API the WebSocket API JAX-RS or even having a dedicated SSE API, and thus a dedicated JSR too! Santiago Pericas-Geertsen (JAX-RS Co-Spec Lead) conducted an initial investigation around that question. You can find the arguments for the different options and Santiago's findings here. So at this stage JAX-RS seems to be a good choice to support SSE in Java EE. This will obviously be discussed in the respective JCP Expert Groups but what is your opinion on this question?

Ive searched online, and I've seen a few examples, but I can't seem to get it working right. i've tried the example on here but I can't seem to get everything working. I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing wrong. I've also looked at examples using the JMonkeyEngine to help point me in the right direction, but still having issues with input. I can get everything else working like i need. On code execution, all the code is hit, and i've put several system.out.println's to get ouput of what is happening (the code above has been cleaned for presentation), and i even see the elements getting bound to the controller, yet it doesn't pick up controller events. None of the objects from niftyGui appear to be recognizing any input.     I have windows XP professional installed on my desktop. It shows up the following errors - Physical memory dumping blue screen. : This aint a new problem, i have been facing this problem ever since i bought this systme. initially the maintainence guy said it was a faulty hard drive and i have got it replaced 3 times already in the past 1 yr. The system gets utterly slow after a usage of around 2-3 months and then these errors crop up and i have to reinstall my windows to keep away these errors. But this time,its been only a week and the blue screen has come up 3 times. What can be the actual cause of the error?? Mine is an assembled machine, its a core 2duo with gigabyte motherboard and a 1 gb ram, 160 gb seagate hdd. please help me its a seriously annoying problem. Edit : A new error recent popprd up, what should i do now??
