• Wacom Bamboo CTH460L issues

  I recently bought a Wacom Bamboo Pen & Touch CTH460L. I installed doctormo's PPA, however, the pen functionality didn't work and the touch was very glitchy (when I touched it, it immediately double clicked and began to drag elements in the screen). I tried to configure it using the wacom-utility package in the Synaptic Package Manager (version 1.21-1) but that didn't work either. Then I followed this post (#621, written by aaaalex), and after some problems trying to restart Ubuntu (graphics related problems), the pen works fine (it could be better, though) but the touch functionality doesn't work anymore. Currently I have installed xserver-xorg-input-wacom (1:0.10.11-0ubuntu7), wacom-dkms (0.8.10.2-1ubuntu1) and wacom-utility. The Wacom Utility only displays an "options" field under "Wacom BambooPT 2FG 4X5" but no other option to configure it. What is the correct way to get this tablet working on Ubuntu 10.04?. By the way, currently I can't start Ubuntu properly when the tablet is connected (in that case, Ubuntu start in low graphics mode). I need to connect it later. UPDATE: I uninstalled xserver -xorg-input-wacom, and wacom-utility because one of them prevented Ubuntu to start normally. I only re-installed wacom-dkms 0.8.10.2-1ubuntu1. The pen is working but no touch functionality. The side buttons don't work either. Thanks in advance.

• How to configure SoapUI with client certificate authentication

  SoapUI is one of the best free tools around to test web services. Some time ago I was trying to send a soap message towards a SSL web service that was set up for client certificate authentication. I pretty soon got stuck at the “javax.net.ssl.SSLException: HelloRequest followed by an unexpected handshake message” error, but after reading several posts on the internet I solved that issue. It’s not really that complicated after all, but since I could not find a decent place on the internet that explains this scenario in a proper way, here’s a list of steps that you need to do to make it work. Note: this following steps are based on a Windows environment   Step one: Export your certificate (the one that you want to use as the client certificate) using the export wizard with the private key and with all certificates in the certification path: Give it a password (anything you want): And export it as a PFX file to a location somewhere on disk: Step two: Install the newest version of SOAP UI (currently it is 3.6.1) Open the file C:\Program Files\eviware\soapUI-3.6.1\bin\ soapUI-3.6.1.vmoptions and add this line at the bottom: -Dsun.security.ssl.allowUnsafeRenegotiation=true This is needed because of a JAVA security feature in their newest frameworks (For further reading about this issue, read this: http://www.soapui.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4089 and this: http://java.sun.com/javase/javaseforbusiness/docs/TLSReadme.html).   Open SOAPUI and go to preferences>SSL Settings and configure your certificate in the keystore (use the same password as in step one): That should be it. Just create a new project and import the WSDL from the client authenticated SSL webservice: And now you should be able to send soap messages with client certificate authentication. • Value of the HTML5 lang attribute

  I'm working on a website which will offer localized content following the language+region approach as described on this W3.org page (e.g. fr-CA for Canadian French content, and fr-FR for "French French" content). As we consider content for each language+region to be unique, it is crucial to us that search engines properly identify and serve the content accordingly. By looking up on the Internet (e.g. this question), it appears that most people recommend the use of an ISO639 language code in the HTML lang attribute to describe the content language. Following this recommendation, we would en up using <html lang="fr"> which wouldn't enable the differentiation between the aforementioned language+region combinations. When reviewing the HTML4 specification, it seems that using language+region as a language code would be perfectly OK, as the en-US example is given as one possible value. However I couldn't find any confirmation of this in the HTML5 specification which doesn't seem to provide any example as to the possible allowed values. From there I tried to get a de facto answer by looking at what the web giants are doing.   I am unable to mount any fat32 or fat16 formatted usb disks under Ubuntu 13.10. • hdmi AC-3 audio broke after upgrading from 11.10 to 12.04.3

  I just updated my MythBuntu 11.10 to 12.04.3. Now, when I try to play 5.1 content (ripped DVD), my TV (and receiver) plays a "chattering" sound. I check my receiver and the digital dolby light isn't on--it's in PCM mode. So, either the audio is getting sent as AC-3, but the TV and receiver think it's PCM or the AC-3 audio got converted to multichannel PCM and they can't handle it. My setup: hdmi cable from htpc to TV. TV has an s/pdif output to my receiver. I know TV sends AC-3 audio out correctly because I see digital dolby light come on when I view a digital TV channel and PCM come on when I view an old analog channel. I can connect s/pdif from my htpc to my receiver and the digital dolby light comes on and it can decode the audio just fine. It's just not sending it right over hdmi. Now for some hints to the issue: I noticed in MythTV audio setup when I select alsa:hdmi.... the description only lists 2 channel PCM audio capability. speaker-test -Dhdmi:PCH -c6 errors about a bad channel count (only -c2 works). Finally, I tried vlc and it does the same chattering sound. These all make me think this isn't a MythTV issue, it's something lower than that. I think the best way to troubleshoot this is to start at the drivers and check each layer, one at a time all the way to alsa. I just don't know what the layers are and how to do it. So, I need to find some audio troubleshooting guide to assist me. Or, if one doesn't exist, I'd appreciate some steps. Thanks much, Jim

  In one of the project, I need to display workflow related tasks in the item display page where the workflow is currently running on. To achieve this, I’d like to add the tasks list view web part and using the connected web part to achieve this.(ID=workflowitemid) However, to make it work I need to unhide the workflowitemid field in the task list, as it is hidden field and also cantogglehidden field is set to false. I need to use reflection to change the cantogglehidden field to true as it only has getter in the API and then I am able to unhide the field. You can download the script here. However, it is not ideal (make your environment not supported by Microsoft) to display tasks this way. Another way to display the related task is to use SharePoint designer solution with List view web part and data source. Here are the steps. 1. Create a new list display form as below 2. Edit the custom display form in advanced mode. 3. Find the PlaceHolderMain contentplace hoder and insert the DataView by choosing the associated workflow tasks list as below 4. Go to the List View Tools >> OPTIONS 5. Create a Parameter called workflowitemId Parameter which retrieve the value from the ID querystring as below 6. Create a filter based on UIVersion = workflowitemId as below ,we are going to change the UIVersion to WorkflowItemId property later as WorkflowItemId is a hidden field and cannot be selected from the wizard. 7. Replace UIVersion with WorkflowItemId in the caml for the XsltListViewWebPart. From: TO 8. Go to the new custom display page at http://yourserver/Lists/aa/CustomDisplayPage.aspx?ID=414, you will see the associated tasks are showing in the page. • Improving SpriteBatch performance for tiles

  I realize this is a variation on what has got to be a common question, but after reading several (good answers) I'm no closer to a solution here. So here's my situation: I'm making a 2D game which has (among some other things) a tiled world, and so, drawing this world implies drawing a jillion tiles each frame (depending on resolution: it's roughly a 64x32 tile with some transparency). Now I want the user to be able to maximize the game (or fullscreen mode, actually, as its a bit more efficient) and instead of scaling textures (bleagh) this will just allow lots and lots of tiles to be shown at once. Which is great! But it turns out this makes upward of 2000 tiles on the screen each time, and this is framerate-limiting (I've commented out enough other parts of the game to make sure this is the bottleneck). It gets worse if I use multiple source rectangles on the same texture (I use a tilesheet; I believe changing textures entirely makes things worse), or if you tint the tiles, or whatever. So, the general question is this: What are some general methods for improving the drawing of thousands of repetitive sprites? Answers pertaining to XNA's SpriteBatch would be helpful but I'm equally happy with general theory. Also, any tricks pertaining to this situation in particular (drawing a tiled world efficiently) are also welcome. • Grub options are not visible on booting on Samsung ATIV Book 9 Lite running Ubuntu 14.04

  I've managed to install Ubuntu 14.04 on my new Samsung ATIV Book 9 Lite ultrabook. After updating some configuratiosn in the UEFI installation was very easy. The only questions and issue I believe I'm still experience is when booting. I believe when the laptop would be displaying the grub boot options I see the following. There is a black screen with a purple border of 10px around the screen. I'd like to know how I can update my system so that I see the grub boot manager.   I am new to this whole website design and API bit. My husband has bought a license for the program InkSoft. Their site does not offer very much customization, so we decided to buy a Wordpress.org site that is hosted through godaddy. With all of that said, I am trying to figure out a way to take the products that are on InkSoft's website, which get their information from the suppliers' warehouses (for things like inventory), and put them on the Wordpress site. There is an area on InkSoft where I can access "Store API...API feeds." I guess I am just confused on where to put this type of stuff in the WordPress site or how to put it in there? If I go to the "Products" area on this Store API, I am given a URL that deals with the product stuff and I am also given a HUGE list of stuff that contains stuff such as: < ProductCategoryList < vw_product_categories product_category_id="1000076" name="Most Popular" path="Most Popular" thumburl_front="REPLACE_DOMAIN_WITH/images/publishers/2433/ProductCategories/Most_Popular/80.gif" / Can everyone give me directions on what and how to use all this stuff? • Strange Misleading Error[XML -2018/ AC-10006] when doing the R12 Cloning

  During the recent Multi Node to Single Node R12 Clone, Encountered an strange error. When doing the database portion of the clone. Below command 'adclonectx.pl' creates the Context file perl adclonectx.pl contextfile=$ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/SOURCE_CONTEXT_FILE.xml template=$ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/template/adxdbctx.tmp pairsfile=$ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/clone/pairsfile.txt initialnode   When running the same command, It dumped the below error,   file:/tmp/tmpCtxClone.xml<Line 1, Column 1>: XML-20108: (Fatal Error) Start of root element expected. AC-10006: Exception - org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: file:/tmp/tmpCtxClone.xml<Line 1, Column 1>: XML-20108: (Fatal Error) Start of root element expected. thrown while creating OAVars object for file: /tmp/tmpCtxClone.xml The new database context file has been created :   /opt/oracle/product/11.1.0_IOFT/appsutil/IOFT_frws35ta.xml   At first site, I suspected that the issue is with format of the source xml file. Hence compared with the working XML file. Result is clean. Below portion of the error struck me Thrown while creating OAVars object for file: /tmp//dummy.xml   Cause : The /tmp is 100% full.   Fix: Either remove the old files in /tmp  directory  OR  export TEMP=/new/location where there is plenty of free space.

• Unable to Install VirtualBox Due to Missing Kernel Module

  I am trying to install VirtualBox on my Ubuntu. I first tried to sudo apt-get install virtualbox-ose in a terminal, but after the configuration step, it fails with an error: No suitable module for running kernel found When proceeding with starting virtualbox, I get this error: WARNING: The character device /dev/vboxdrv does not exist. Please install the virtualbox-ose-dkms package and the appropriate headers, most likely linux-headers-generic. You will not be able to start VMs until this problem is fixed. So I tried the package from http://www.virtualbox.org/, but starting VirtualBox fails with: WARNING: The vboxdrv kernel module is not loaded. Either there is no module available for the current kernel (2.6.38-8-generic-pae) or it failed to load. Please recompile the kernel module and install it by sudo /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup You will not be able to start VMs until this problem is fixed. So I ran sudo /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup, but it fails too: * Stopping VirtualBox kernel modules [ OK ] * Uninstalling old VirtualBox DKMS kernel modules [ OK ] * Trying to register the VirtualBox kernel modules using DKMS Error! Your kernel headers for kernel 2.6.38-8-generic-pae cannot be found at /lib/modules/2.6.38-8-generic-pae/build or /lib/modules/2.6.38-8-generic-pae/source. * Failed, trying without DKMS * Recompiling VirtualBox kernel modules * Look at /var/log/vbox-install.log to find out what went wrong The contents of /var/log/vbox-install.log. Focus on sharing code between Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8. Syncing everything through SkyDrive Xbox Music free streaming and Xbox Smart Glass. He did all the demos himself, showing off great “Windows 8 generation” devices already available (including an 82-inch Windows 8 “slate” by Perceptive Pixel). • Asus Eee PC 1000HE wireless woes

  Ever since I have upgraded my Asus Eee PC 1000HE from Lucid 10.04 to Precise 12.04 I have been having issues with my wireless connections. At first I had wireless dropouts: I would be able to start using wireless, but then after a few minutes the wireless would stop working even though I was still connected to the network. Lately things turned worse: while I connect to my wireless network, it just never works. I tried all sorts of solutions on offer here and in other forums but none worked. At best I got the wireless to work up until I rebooted, at which point I would get the same symptoms again: the wireless network is there, but it's not really working. By now I tried so many different "solutions" I don't know where to start describing them; I have also reinstalled 12.04 several times, enough to make me lose faith in Ubuntu. Help here looks like my last resort. For the record, my Asus Eee PC 1000HE is equipped with an Atheros wireless card.
