• Allowing pop-up's and downloads with flex

    - by ShadowVariable
    I'm building an flex app that is basically a wrapper for a few websites. One of them is a google docs website, and I'm trying to get flex to allow downloads or popups or something that will allow me to do it. I've tried a whole bunch of solutions online and none of them have worked out. Here's the code so far:  <s:WindowedApplication xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009" xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark" xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx" width="100%" height="100%" creationComplete="onCreationComplete()"> <s:layout> <s:HorizontalLayout/> </s:layout> <fx:Style source="style.css"/> <fx:Script>  include "CustomHTMLLoader.as"; private function onCreationComplete():void { // ... other stuff ... var custom:object; custom.htmlHost = new MyHTMLHost(); }  </fx:Script> <fx:Declarations>  </fx:Declarations> <s:BorderContainer width="100%" height="100%" backgroundColor="#87BED0" styleName="container"> <s:Panel x="188" y="17" width="826" height="112" borderAlpha="0.15" chromeColor="#0C5A74" color="#FFFFFF" cornerRadius="20" dropShadowVisible="false" enabled="true" title="Customer Service Control Panel"> <s:controlBarContent/> <s:Button id="home" x="13" y="10" height="44" label="Phones" click="myViewStack.selectedChild=Home;" enabled="true" icon="@Embed('assets/iconmonstr-mobile-phone-6-icon-32.png')"/> <s:Button id="liveagent" x="131" y="10" height="44" label="Live Agent" click="myViewStack.selectedChild=live_agent;" icon="@Embed('assets/iconmonstr-speech-bubble-11-icon-32.png')"/> <s:Button id="bigcommerce" x="260" y="10" width="158" height="44" label="Big Commerce" click="myViewStack.selectedChild=bigcommerce_home;" icon="@Embed('assets/iconmonstr-coin-6-icon-48.png')"/> <s:Button id="faq" x="436" y="10" width="88" height="44" label="FAQ" click="myViewStack.selectedChild=freqaskquestions;" fontFamily="Arial" icon="@Embed('assets/iconmonstr-help-4-icon-32.png')"/> <s:Button id="call" x="540" y="10" width="131" height="44" label="Google Docs" click="myViewStack.selectedChild=call_notes;" icon="@Embed('assets/iconmonstr-text-file-4-icon-32.png')"/> <s:Button id="hoot" x="684" y="10" width="122" height="44" label="HootSuite" click="myViewStack.selectedChild=hoot_suite;" icon="@Embed('assets/iconmonstr-facebook-icon-32.png')"/> </s:Panel> <mx:ViewStack id="myViewStack" x="0" y="140" width="100%" height="100%" borderStyle="solid"> <s:NavigatorContent id="Home"> <s:BorderContainer width="100%" height="100%"> <mx:HTML x="0" y="0" width="100%" height="100%" borderVisible="false" horizontalScrollPolicy="off" location="http://mbvphone.mtbakervapor.org/vbx/messages/inbox" /> </s:BorderContainer> </s:NavigatorContent> <s:NavigatorContent id="bigcommerce_home"> <s:BorderContainer width="100%" height="100%"> <mx:HTML x="0" y="0" width="100%" height="100%" borderVisible="false" horizontalScrollPolicy="off" location="http://www.mtbakervapor.com/admin" /> </s:BorderContainer> </s:NavigatorContent> <s:NavigatorContent id="live_agent"> <s:BorderContainer width="100%" height="100%"> <mx:HTML x="0" y="0" width="100%" height="100%" borderVisible="false" horizontalScrollPolicy="off" location="http://mbvphone.mtbakervapor.org/liveagent/agent/#login" /> </s:BorderContainer> </s:NavigatorContent> <s:NavigatorContent id="freqaskquestions"> <s:BorderContainer width="100%" height="100%"> <mx:HTML x="0" y="0" width="100%" height="100%" borderVisible="false" horizontalScrollPolicy="off" location="http://mbvphone.mtbakervapor.org/liveagent/" /> </s:BorderContainer> </s:NavigatorContent> <s:NavigatorContent id="call_notes"> <s:BorderContainer width="100%" height="100%"> <mx:HTML id="html" x="0" y="0" width="100%" height="100%" borderVisible="false" horizontalScrollPolicy="off" location="https://drive.google.com/a/mtbakervapor.com/" htmlHost="{new CustomHost()}" /> </s:BorderContainer> </s:NavigatorContent> <s:NavigatorContent id="hoot_suite"> <s:BorderContainer width="100%" height="100%"> <mx:HTML x="0" y="0" width="100%" height="100%" borderVisible="false" horizontalScrollPolicy="off" location="https://hootsuite.com/login" /> </s:BorderContainer> </s:NavigatorContent> </mx:ViewStack> <s:Image x="0" y="0" width="180" height="140" scaleMode="letterbox" smooth="false" source="assets/mbvlogo_black.png"/> </s:BorderContainer> </s:WindowedApplication> and the custom class code: package { import flash.html.HTMLHost; import flash.html.HTMLWindowCreateOptions; import flash.html.HTMLLoader; public class MyHTMLHost extends HTMLHost { public function MyHTMLHost(defaultBehaviors:Boolean=true) { super(defaultBehaviors); } override public function createWindow(windowCreateOptions:HTMLWindowCreateOptions):HTMLLoader { // all JS calls and HREFs to open a new window should use the existing window return HTMLLoader.createRootWindow(); } } } any help would be appreciated.

  • How do you leave comments/like a specific page of a Facebook Canvas app?

    - by Sebastian
I'm building a tabbed Facebook Canvas app that requires individual images to be "Like"d and commented on. Since each image is loaded up as its own page, in this style: http://apps.facebook.com/appname/image/333/ (which translates to: www.mydomain.com/image/333/) I was hoping I could just get a UID for each "image" page and then comment/like based off that. If that's possible, how exactly do I get the id for dynamically generated pages? Or any page for that matter? Thanks in advance.

  • event vs thread programming on server side.

    - by AlxPeter
We are planning to start a fairly complex web-portal which is expected to attract good local traffic and I've been told by my boss to consider/analyse node.js for the serve side. I think scalability and multi-core support can be handled with an Nginx or Cherokee up in the front. 1) Is this node.js ready for some serious/big business? 2) Does this 'event/asynchronous' paradigm on server side has the potential to support the heavy traffic and data operation ? considering the fact that 'everything' is being processed in a single thread and all the live connections would be lost if it got crashed (though its easy to restart). 3) What are the advantages of event based programming compared to thread based style ? or vice-versa. (I know of higher cost associated with thread switching but hardware can be squeezed with event model.) Following are interesting but contradicting (to some extent) papers:- 1) http://www.usenix.org/events/hotos03/tech/full_papers/vonbehren/vonbehren_html 2) http://pdos.csail.mit.edu/~rtm/papers/dabek:event.pdf

  • What books help one to learn to read code?

    - by Daniel
Lion's Commentary on Unix Sixth Edition with Source Code is a wonderful book to learn how to read code. Reading code is important -- how does one learn how to write excellent code without having read excellent code? But, sadly, while great writers, of fiction and non-fiction, all spend a great deal of time reading stuff, we, programmers, seem to avoid it like the plague. Worse still, programming books usually go the same way. They might show a pattern or a style, but they often avoid showing good, complex code, and helping one go through it. There are exceptions, of course. I hope. So, with that in mind, what books are to be found which help one learn how to read code?

  • Li with float in IE6/7. It disappears?

    - by Ricardo H.Bin
Hi guys. Try test this code in IE 6/7:

Title

huisashaiuhs iuhuiahsiuhsaiu

Where is the circle of LI? I already do ALL types of workaround, in UL and LI. Nothing, NOTHING works. Do you have any idea? (BTW already tried hasLayout,padding-left,margin-left,display:inline, etc etc etc)

  • Is there a simple script to convert C++ enum to string?

    - by Edu Felipe
Suppose we have some named enums: enum MyEnum { FOO, BAR = 0x50 }; What I googled for is a script (any language) that scans all the headers in my project and generates a header with one function per enum. char* enum_to_string(MyEnum t); And a implementation with something like this: char* enum_to_string(MyEnum t){ switch(t){ case FOO: return "FOO"; case BAR: return "BAR"; default: return "INVALID ENUM"; } } The gotcha is really with typedefed enums, and unnamed C style enums. Does anybody know something for this? EDIT: The solution should not modify my source, except for the generated functions. The enums are in an API, so using the solutions proposed until now is just not an option.

  • Interpolation on Cubism graphs

    - by Abe Stanway
Cubism was designed, by mbostock's own words, for maximum information density - which means it generally wants to display one datapoint per pixel. While this is useful in many cases, it doesn't help when your data itself is not that dense. In these cases, you get ugly, staccato-style graphs like so: Is there a way to interpolate my data/graph within Cubism to show a nice, smoothed graph? EDIT: After adding keepLastValue to the metric, I get this: Here is the same data as shown in Graphite: I would like to smooth the Cubism view to look more like Graphite (with the added awesomeness of the horizon overplotting)

  • Second CSS class not working in IE8.

    - by ProfK
I have the following div being rendered to the client, but on IE, the checked-yes class is ignored. If I view the target element in the 'Developer Tools', that class is completely missing from the Style panel. The shift-item-present class is attached server side, and the checked-yes class client side, depending on the present attribute of the parent row, also shown below.

Parent row:
The page works perfectly in FF

  • In your opinion what web technology would be best suited for building dropdown menus?

    - by LondonGuy
What I need is a slide menu that is activated by one click. The menu then appears and doesn't disappear until user clicks any where else on the current page. I don't require any effects but need something reliable that I can style with ease, put a thumbnail of a photo inside change dimensions, add mouse over effects etc. I've done a several searches on google and quite a lot of options are coming up and I'm not too sure which would be best for me. I've seen some people suggestion html + css3 and others suggest jquery. Does any of these options have a benefit over the other? I would appreciate your opinions and maybe some links thanks.

  • Can I join 2+ styles together into a superstyle?

  • How to properly set path to media files in Django

    - by sasquatch90
Hello. I've got a new project, and currently I'm trying to set it correctly. But somehow I can't make my media files work. Here's my current setting : MEDIA_ROOT = os.path.normpath( '/home/budzyk/rails/fandrive/site_media/' ) templates setting work on the other hand : TEMPLATE_DIRS = ( "/home/budzyk/rails/fandrive/templates", ) Catalog with media files is ../fandrive/site-media/ so why it's not working ? • Documentation for Qt documentation comments? Qt + Doxygen?

    - by Jake Petroules
Where can I find documentation for Qt documentation comments? I'm referring to how Qt uses a specific style for documentation comments, like so: /*! \class MyClassName \brief The MyClassName class is used as an example on Stack Overflow. This class serves a few functions, the most important being: \list \i So people can understand my question. \i So people can have a few laughs at the comedy in my example. \endlist */ ...you get the picture. So where can I find information about all the switches, like \class, \list, \brief, etc. Also, what tool(s) do I use to generate documentation files from these comments in my source files? Does Doxygen support this syntax?

  • Cygwin GCC + WinXP cmd.exe does nothing

    - by Stephen Friederichs
My basic problem is that if I run GCC from the windows command line (cmd.exe in Windows XP) and it does nothing: no .o files are created, no error messages, nothing. It will only throw an error message if I use DOS-style paths, but nothing else. When I run from the Cygwin shell then it will throws error messages as appropriate for the errors in the source and produces the .o files as it needs. Using 'make' from the DOS command line doesn't work either. Has anyone encountered this behavior before?

  • Background image fixed with vertical scroll bar in IE

    - by Rich
I have a gradient background image in my web application, it goes from dark at the top to light at the bottom. In Firefox, this image is handled properly, where upon scrolling vertically downwards on the page, the dark top section disappears. However, when I started testing in IE (I'm using IE8) the background image stays fixed behind the screen as you vertically scroll, meaning the dark top section of the background image is always rendered at the top of the IE view. I've set the background tag to have scroll defined, which from all I can tell should solve the problem, but IE is not happy. background: #470077 url( images/abcd.jpg ) repeat-x scroll; I made sure to be clearing the data in IE in case it was caching the old style before I added scroll. Textual representation of issue (x = darkest, o = dark, _ = light, - = lightest) Firefox: top of page xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx oooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooo ___________________________ ___________________________ scrolled down a bit oooooooooooooooooooooooo ___________________________ ___________________________ -------------------------------------- -------------------------------------- -------------------------------------- IE: top of page xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx oooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooo ___________________________ ___________________________ scrolled down a bit xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx oooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooo ___________________________ ___________________________

  • jQuery fadeTo not working in IE8

    - by Lynda
I have a div fading in using fadeTo. It works great in Firefox and IE9. It does not work in IE8. Here is my code: JS: var $j = jQuery.noConflict(); window.onload = function(){ $j('#fadein').fadeTo(6000, 1, function() { }); }; HTML

How do I get this to work in IE8? I do not mind changing from fadeTo to fadeIn or some other method of fading in a div as long as it works in IE8.

  • ExpandoObject (dynamics) my greatest friend or my new greatest foe?

    - by WeNeedAnswers
Yes I know that it shouldn't be abused and that C# is primariy used as a static language. But seriously folks if you could just dirty up some code, in the python style, or create some dynamic do hicky, would you? My mind is working overtime on this having spent a while loving the dynamics of python, is c# going over to the dark side through the back door? Is the argument for static typing a dead one with this obvious addition? Is the argument for less Unit testing a bit silly when we are all grown ups? Or has the addition of dynamics ruined a strongly static typed and well designed language?

  • StackOverflow WordPress Plugin: Sidebar Widget [closed]

    - by Fernando
I used the idea from "StackOverflow badge to show in your blog" from here to develop a small WordPress plugin to show your SO reputation and badges on your WordPress weblog sidebar. It's awfully lacking some graphic design, style, color, etc. I also thought of adding the user avatar, and images for the different badges. But it's working so far, and it's pretty late and I have to get some sleep. But I'll add the stuff I mentioned tomorrow. That was quite an interesting PHP challenge. Hope someone finds it as usefull as me (already showing it off on my blog :P ). If you're interested: Download it here

What am I doing wrong?
