• How do I localize the jQuery DatePicker?

  I really need a localized dropdown calendar. An English calendar doesn't exactly communicate excellence on a Norwegian website ;-) I have experimented with the jQuery DatePicker, their website says it can be localized, however that doesn't seem to work. I am using ASPNET.MVC, and I really want to stick to one javascript library. In this case jQuery. The ajax toolkit calendar would be acceptable, if only it too would display Norwegian names. Update: Awesome! I see I am missing the language files, a not so minor detail :-)

  I have a timer "tmr_sendCesta" which must be called each x seconds between 1 and 3 seconds. The problem is the timer "tmr_sendCesta" is called only one time, and the random seconds is never updated. I need to call the function "createCesta" each x seconds randomly. • "Mem Usage" higher than "VM Size" in WinXP Task Manager

  In my Windows XP Task Manager, some processes display a higher value in the Mem Usage column than the VMSize. My Firefox instance, for example shows 111544 K as mem usage and 100576 K as VMSize. According to the help file of Task Manager Mem Usage is the working set of the process and VMSize is the committed memory in the Virtual address space. My question is, if the number of committed pages for a process is A and the number of pages in physical memory for the same process is B, shouldn't it always be B = A? Isn't the number of pages in physical memory per process a subset of the committed pages? Or is this something to do with sharing of memory among processes? Please explain. (Perhaps my definition of 'Working Set' is off the mark). Thanks.

• Safari extension - Too many injected scripts responding to message

  Hi, I am trying to code a safari extension similar to Bubble Translate for Chrome. when you click a button on the toolbar, it automatically translates the text currently selected to the language of your choice using the Google language API. I use the following injected script to get the highlighted text and display the result (as an alert for the time being): http://pastebin.com/bYVuQAmp I use the following global script to call the injected script if neccessary: hxxp://pastebin.com/VHaAKM5a The problem I have is the following: The script does not just get injected into the main page but also into ads and similar stuff that is embedded into the page. Due to that, the selected text gets translated multiple times because all the embedded scripts in one page respond to the message.   For a given SQL stored proc or function, I'm trying to obtain its input and output parameters, where applicable, in a Winforms app I'm creating to browse objects and display their parameters and other attributes. So far I've discovered the SQL system function object_definition, which takes a given sysobjects.id and returns the text of that object; also discovered via search this post which describes extracting the parameters in the context of a app using the ADO.NET method DeriveParameters in conjunction with some caching for better performance; and for good measure found some helpful system stored procs from this earlier post on Hidden Features of SQL Server. I'm leaning towards implementing the DeriveParameters method in my C# app, since parsing the output of object_definition seems messy, and I haven't found a hidden feature in that post so far that would do the trick. Is DeriveParameters applicable to both functions and stored procs for purposes of retreiving their parameters, and if so, could someone please provide an example?

I need to execute a C program, display its output in real time and finally parse its last line, which should be straightforward as the last line printed is always the same. process = subprocess.Popen(args, shell = True, stdout = subprocess.PIPE, stderr = subprocess.PIPE) # None indicates that the process hasn't terminated yet. while process.poll() is None: # Always save the last non-emtpy line that was output by the child # process, as it will write an empty line when closing its stdout. out = process.stdout.readline() if out: last_non_empty_line = out if verbose: sys.stdout.write(out) sys.stdout.flush() # Parse 'out' here... Once in a while, however, the last line is not printed. The default value for Popens's bufsize is 0, so it is supposed to be unbuffered.   We are looking to implement a rich-text box in an ASP.NET application and our requirements are specific to using the "Track Changes" features of Microsoft Word. The closest thing we found in the RadEditor by Telerik. This is a nice control that has a "Track Changes" button and will give you the ability to track the changes from the text in the box to now. It does not let you track your changes from the two previous versions. We have used CVSWeb in the past and the display was not great but it did have the ability (in a web page) to diff two different versions of text (source code in this case). Does anyone have any experience or know of any web-based diff tools that work nicely with a rich-text editor in the web?

• Cleanup for control inside a FlowDocument

  I have a custom control that I use inside a FlowDocument. The control uses a System.Drawing.ImageAnimator to display transparent, animated GIF images. Why is this such a pain in the butt in WPF anyway? :P In my original implementation, this was causing memory leaks when a paragraph containing the control was being deleted from the document, because the ImageAnimator kept a reference to the control for event handling. I've now implemented a WeakEventManager pattern which seems to indeed fix the leak itself, but I would like to stop "OnFrameChanged" events from being fired if a particular animated GIF is not currently in the document, instead of relying on the garbage collector to eventually collect the control objects and my event manager to notice that there no longer are valid listeners to the event. Basically, I would like to take a more active role in this and have the control react to being removed from the FlowDocument. Is there some way to do this? I've been unable to find it. OnVisualParentChanged doesn't get fired, because the direct parent (a Paragraph) is unchanged.

  I am using the ASP.NET3.5 gridview control in a new project. My problem is that the gridview presents data in basic tabular format, whereas I want a grid with row header / grouping behaviors. An example of this would be Outlook web interface, which can group emails by date, as well as allowing you to select individual emails to display. My problem: I can't see how this could be easily done with Gridview? I did find a product called Telerik that has a seemingly fancy Gridview, but I am hesitant to spend money on a single components that now also locks me into a third-party framework...

  I am trying to understand how to use SyndicationItem to display feed which is RSS 2.0 or Atom compliant. What property of SyndicationItem gives me the entire description of the post. It appears that there is a Summary property but per MSDN, it gives only the Summary. Also I have noticed that in my RSS feed reader, some RSS feeds show only a few lines of description and I have to click and go to the website for the full post. But in some feeds, I can see the full post within the Feed Reader. Can someone explain how all this comes together? PS: My web page lets user enter a RSS feed address and I need to validate if the feed exists. If it does, I need to grab the last x items and show the feed's title and full description

  Hi, currently I have a site sits on one IIS7 server. When we deploy a new version of the site, we bring the site down and display an offline page. What I really want is have two same exact copies of the site sits in one IIS 7 server and load balance users among both servers. when we deploy a new version of the site, we will bring site1 down (users in site1 automatically routes to site2 on next postback), when site1 deployment is complete, bring site2 down (users in site2 being routes to site1 on next postback). is this even possible?

I created alt attributes for them and am trying to have cycle display them for each image, but It only shows the first one. I am unsure how to get the code I have into the cycle "loop" for the gallery? • What HTML is permitted within Flash text fields.

  Hi, Could someone clarify for me what input Flash accepts for its text fields? I am tasked with managing a content management system, this then generates XML which power's flash sites. I have nothing to do with Flash. I work with PHP. Currently we use a rather temperamental Flash Text Editor which is prone to all sorts of troubles. I tried to plug-in tinyMce but it broke the Flash templates. I then recently spoke to someone who said that flash should take any HTML. Now I am confused as this would point to a dodgy template. Can someone clarify. Do Flash text fields handle all HTML or just a limited subset of HTML. If it is the latter, what happens if it comes across a tag it doesn't recognise?   Is it possible to configure the FlexPaper reader to un-encrypt password-protected pdfs or swfs? Here is the use-case: User uploads a pdf My server would then convert the pdf to swf via pdf2swf Then somehow encrypt the swf with a password (not sure best way to do this) Then the FlexPaper would be able to un-encrypt the swf and display it What I am trying to avoid is the caching of readable swf in the browser's cache. Any ideas on the best way to achieve this? I know, even with this it will not be a fully secure solution, but certainly helps. Note: I am running this on Linux and OS X and using Rails. Thanks! • Ajax call from Bookmarklet

  I am trying to create a bookmarklet that, upon clicking, would request some information from the user (a url and a couple other fields in this case) and then send that data to a php page on my server and then display the result. I would like to do an Ajax call for this so that I don't actually redirect to the new page, just get the data but I assume I would run into the "Same Origin Policy" limitation of Ajax.... is there any known way of basically doing the same thing? Also, what would be the best way to pass the parameters? I already have a mechanism in place to recieve the parameters as a post message from a form...is there any way I could just reuse this?

  I've been looking into Silverlight charting controls to display a large number of samples, (~10,000 data points in five separate series - ~50k points all up). I have found the existing options produced by Dundas, Visifire, Microsoft etc to be extremely poor performers when displaying more than a few hundred data points. I believe the performance issues with existing chart controls is caused by the heavy use of vector graphics. Ergo one solution would be a client-side chart control that uses the WritableBitmap class to generate a raster chart. Before I fall too far down the wheel re-invention rabbit hole - has anyone found a third party or OSS control that will manage large numbers of data points on a sparkline?

  I'm new to WPF but I need to implement following functionality: I have a window that contains one Grid (might be changed to stack panel or something else). In that Grid I have 2 columns, each of them contains another Grid. Lets call them gridFirst and gridSecond. There is also GridSplitter in first column allowing to resize the columns. I want to provide a button that will allow to separate gridFirst from this window and display it "as it is" in another window. How do I do that? It would be nice if the new window had a same menu as the original window without me having to copy-paste (that not a good coding practise) all its code to the new window. Thanks for answers
