  Hi, Im using the Microsoft.Office.Interop.MSProject.Resource assembly which has a "UniqueID" property, it has a get but not set. How can I actually set a value? • How to inject a "runtime" dependency like a logged in user which is not available at application boot time?

  I'm just not getting this: I use Gin in my java GWT app to do DI. The login screen is integrated into the full application window. After the user has logged in I want to inject the user object into other classes like GUI Presenters which I create, so I have some sort of runtime dependency I believe. How do i do that? One solution I can think of is sth like: class Presenter { @Inject Presenter(LoggedInUserFactory userFactory) { User user = userFactory.getLoggedInUser(); } } class LoggedInUserFactoryImpl { public static User user; User getLoggedInUser() { return user; } } So, when the user is successfully logged in and I have the object i set the static property in LoggedInUserFactory, but this will only work if the Presenter is created after the user has logged in which is not the case. Or should I use a global static registry? I just don't like the idea of having static dependencies in my classes. Any input is greatly appreciated.

  I'm making a universal iPad/iPhone app which can use the iPad's VGA out connector to mirror the content of the app on an external screen. How do I check for this at runtime?

  Please, help me to explain the following behavior: dynamic d = 1; ISet<dynamic> s = new HashSet<dynamic>(); s.Contains(d); The code compiles with no errors/warnings, but at the last line I get the following exception: Unhandled Exception: Microsoft.CSharp.RuntimeBinder.RuntimeBinderException: 'System.Collections.Generic.ISet<object>' does not contain a definition for 'Contains' at CallSite.Target(Closure , CallSite , ISet`1 , Object ) at System.Dynamic.UpdateDelegates.UpdateAndExecuteVoid2[T0,T1](CallSite site, T0 arg0, T1 arg1) at FormulaToSimulation.Program.Main(String[] args) in As far as I can tell, this is related to dynamic overload resolution, but the strange things are (1) If the type of s is HashSet<dynamic>, no exception occurs. (2) If I use a non-generic interface with a method accepting a dynamic argument, no exception occurs. Thus, it looks like this problem is related particularly with generic interfaces, but I could not find out what exactly causes the problem. Is it a bug in the compiler/typesystem, or legitimate behavior?

I want to display parts of the error object in an except block (similar to the err object in VBScript, which has Err.Number and Err.Description). For example, I want to show the values of my variables, then show the exact error. • Django json serialization problem

  I am having difficulty serializing a django object. The problem is that there are foreign keys. I want the serialization to have data from the referenced object, not just the index. For example, I would like the sponsor data field to say "sponsor.last_name, sponsor.first_name" rather than "13".   If I make an empty test class: public class Foo { } And I try to compile code with this statement: Foo foo = "test"; Then I get this error as expected: Cannot implicitly convert type 'string' to 'ConsoleApplication1.Foo' However, if I change the declaration of Foo from class to interface, the error changes to this (emphasis mine): Cannot implicitly convert type 'string' to 'ConsoleApplication1.Foo'. An explicit conversion exists (are you missing a cast?) What is this "explicit conversion" which is supposed to exist?

  I know how to override an object's getattr() to handle calls to undefined object functions. However, I would like to achieve the same behavior for the builtin getattr() function. • XmlSerializer.Deserialize method appends timezone to a time and datetime field

  Have a small script in Microsoft.NET 2.0 that deserializes a XML back to a typed object, connects dyanimcally to a web service using ServiceDescription and binds the deserialized typed object to the WebMethod inbound. The XML prior to serialization looks like below <completion_time>12:19:38</completion_time> on the wire when communicating to the web service looks like below <completion_time>12:19:38.0000000-04:00</completion_time> with the timezone appended to the end. This is causing the time to be read differently when communicating to a web service at a different timezone. is there anyway to let XmlSerializer skip the timezone? Or any other known workarounds?

  In the nautilus-python bindings, there is a file "nautilus.defs". It contains stanzas like (define-interface MenuProvider (in-module "Nautilus") (c-name "NautilusMenuProvider") (gtype-id "NAUTILUS_TYPE_MENU_PROVIDER") ) or (define-method get_mime_type (of-object "NautilusFileInfo") (c-name "nautilus_file_info_get_mime_type") (return-type "char*") ) Now I can see what most of these do (eg. that last one means that I can call the method "get_mime_type" on a "FileInfo" object). But I'd like to know: what is this file, exactly (ie. what do I search the web for to find out more info)? Is it a common thing to find in Python/C bindings? What is the format, and where is it documented? What program actually processes it? (So far, I've managed to glean that it gets transformed into a C source file, and it looks a bit like lisp to me.)

Can anybody give me a query that would return the right order of creation of those items based on their dependencies ? I read here that there are tools that can do the job, but I am looking for something scriptable. Also, they often give the dependencies of one object and I would like a database-wide solution. • Passing Auth to API calls with Web Service References

  I am new to web services. The last time I dealt with SOAP was when I created a bunch of wrapper classes that sent requests and received responses back per some response objects/classes I had created. So I had an object to send certain API requests and likewise a set of objects to hold the response back as an object so I could utilize that 3rd party API. Then someone came to me and said why not just use the wsdl and a web service. Ok, so today I went and created a "Service Reference". I see that this is what's called a "Proxy Class". You just instantiate an instance of this and then walla you have access to all the methods from the wsdl. But this leaves me with auth questions. Back when I created my own classes manually, I had a class which exposed properties that I would set then access for things like signature, username, password that got sent along with the Http request that were required by whatever 3rd party API I was using to make API calls. But then with using a Service Reference, how then would I pass this information just like I had done in my custom classes? For instance I'm going to be working with the PayPal API. It requires you to send a signature and a few other pieces of information like username and password. // Determins if API call needs to use a session based URI string requestURI = UseAuthURI == true ? _requestURIAuthBased + aSessionID : _requestURI; byte[] data = XmlUtil.DocumentToBytes(doc); // Create the atual Request instance HttpWebRequest request = CreateWebRequest(requestURI, data.Length); So how do I pass username, password, signature, etc. when using web service references for each method call? Is it as simple as specifying it as a param to the method or do you use the .Credentials and .URL methods of your proxy class object? It seems to me Credentials means windows credentials but I could be wrong. Is it limited to that or can you use that to specify those required header values that PayPal expects with each method call/API request?

• Trappings MySQL Warnings on Calls Wrapped in Classes -- Python

  I can't get Python's try/else blocks to catch MySQL warnings when the execution statements are wrapped in classes. I have a class that has as a MySQL connection object as an attribute, a MySQL cursor object as another, and a method that run queries through that cursor object. The cursor is itself wrapped in a class. These seem to run queries properly, but the MySQL warnings they generate are not caught as exceptions in a try/else block. Why don't the try/else blocks catch the warnings? How would I revise the classes or method calls to catch the warnings? Also, I've looked through the prominent sources and can't find a discussion that helps me understand this. I'd appreciate any reference that explains this. Please see code below.
