• GIT: Checkout to a "Really" Specific Folder

  I want to export, checkout, or whatever you call it from the index, HEAD, or any other commit, to a specific folder, how is that possible? Similar questions have already been asked: GIT: Checkout to a specific folder How to do a "git export" (like "svn export") But the problem with the proposed solution is that they preserve the relative path. So for example, if I use the mentioned method to check out the file nbapp/editblog.php to the folder temp, the file would be checked out in temp/nbapp/editblog.php! Is there anyway to checkout to 'temp' directly? Also, another important thing is to be able to check the HEAD or any other commit. The checkout-index (which allows using the --prefix option to checkout to a specific folder, while normal checkout doesn't allow) checks out only the index. • Generating C++ BackTraces in OS/X (10.5.7)

  I've been utilizing backtrace and backtrace_symbols to generate programmatic stack traces for the purposes of logging/diagnosis. It seems to roughly work, however, I'm getting a little bit of mangling and there are no accompanying file/line numbers associated with each function invocation (as I'd expect within a gdb bt call or something). • Implementing an interface using an asynchronous WCF service?

  Hello, I am trying to figure out if it is possible to implement a .NET interface, where the interface method has to return something and you are implementing that particular interface method with an asynchronous WCF service? Hopefully you should already see the issue I am encountering. Here is the interface: public interface IDataService { IDataServiceResponse SendDataRequest(); } IDataServiceResponse is supposed to represent a simple container that holds the result of my asynchronous WCF callback. • Win32 select/poll/eof/ANYTHING!?!?!

  Using the standard Win32 file I/O API's (CreateFile/ReadFile/etc), I'm trying to wait for a file to become readable, or for an exception to occur on the file. If Windows had any decent POSIX support, I could just do: select(file_count, files_waiting_for_read, NULL, files_waiting_for_excpt, NULL, NULL); And select will return when there's anything interesting on some of the files. Windows doesn't support select or poll. Fine. I figured I could take the file and do something like: while(eof(file_descriptor)) { Sleep(100); } The above loop would exit when more data is available to be read. But nope, Windows doesn't have an equivalent of eof() either! I could possibly call ReadFile() on the file, and determine if it's at the eof that way. But, then I'd have to handle the reading at that point in time -- I'm hoping to simply be able to figure out that a file is readable, without actually reading it. What are my options?

• Using PHP variables inside SQL statements?

  For some reason I can't pass a var inside a mysql statement. I have a function that can be used for multiple tables. So instead of repeating the code I want to change the table that is selected from like so, function show_all_records($table_name) { mysql_query("SELECT * FROM $table_name"); etc, etc... } And to call the function I use show_all_records("some_table") or show_all_records("some_other_table") depending on which table I want to select from at the moment. But it's not working, is this because variables can't be passed through mysql statements?

• Arraylist is null; I cannot access books in the arraylist

I am writing a bookstore program for APCS and when i add the book, it is supposed to add to the arraylist in the inventory class.   My MacBook Pro runs slower the longer it's on. I am getting kernel warnings. Some, but not all, resets correlate with AC power connects and disconnects. I don't think the warnings do. (How do I tell?) What are these errors? What causes them? Can this damage the drive or corrupt data? I'm able to login and add Leads, Opportunities, Accounts and Contacts. But I'm unable to add a relation ship between my Account and Opportunity.   I have a set of three values, call them x, y, and z. If value A happens to match only one in the set x, y, and z, then that means we have a proper match and we stop searching for a match, even if it is at y. It can match any one in that set. These values x, y, and z are non-constant so I cannot use a switch-case statement. How do I do this with an if-elseif-else statements without having to use GOTO. I am using C++ (no boost or any of that other fancy stuff). Now, I am trying to do this in code and it is racking my brain this morning (not enough coffee?)

  In a custom UIViewController, if I have a member UINavigationController that I initialize with self as the root view, like this: navController = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:self]; then presenting a modal dialog does not hide the tab bar at the bottom of the screen. The result is that if the user switches to a different tab while a modal dialog is displayed, when they pop back to the tab that was displaying a modal dialog then subsequent calls to presentModalViewController do not display a modal dialog at all, even if I call dismissModalViewControllerAnimated as a result of the tab switch. If I initialize the UINavigationController with out setting self as the root controller, navigationController = [[UINavigationController alloc] init]; then the tab bar is hidden as expected. I've changed things in my program so that this isn't really an issue for me anymore, but I'm not sure that I understand why this is happening. Is it considered bad practice to have a navigation controller with self as the root, if the nav controller is going to be displaying modal dialogs?

For example: x = y + z If x is an integer object. A copy of y + z should be returned, then a new object is created, then assignment operator of x will take this object as parameter. • wxWidgets errors occur after upgrading gDEBugger

  all. Today I upgraded my gDEBugger (though I don't think it involves gDEBugger) to the latest version but problem occurs. When I tried to open gDEBugger, an alert window named "wxWidgets Debug Alert" pop-up, reporting that "....\src\common\xpmdecod.cpp(822):assert "i==colors_cnt" failed in wxXPMDecoder::ReadData(). Call stack: [00]wxConsole....balabala....", like follows. All these words seem just like warnings and didn't affect the following work, however I am wondering why this problem occurs?   Hi all My Delphi app has created a squence called frame_001.png to frame_100.png. I need that to be compiled into a movie clip. I think perhaps the easiest is to call ffmpeg from the command line, according to their documentation: For creating a video from many images: ffmpeg -f image2 -i foo-%03d.jpeg -r 12 -s WxH foo.avi The syntax foo-%03d.jpeg specifies to use a decimal number composed of three digits padded with zeroes to express the sequence number. It is the same syntax supported by the C printf function, but only formats accepting a normal integer are suitable.   Hello, I have a valid link that goes to a picture located on my web server. It is a simple jpg image, I can copy and paste this link into my web browser and it loads fine. The issue comes in when I try to call a few php functions on the image... such as getimagesize or fopen... they both return 404 errors even though the image is there. Does anyone know that could be causing this? Thank you for your time.

For example: $("#id").load("urlToLoad", function() { bindDatepicker($("input.date")); }); Loads the form elements into a div just fine, but will not attach the DatePicker. Why is this?   I'm localizing an iPhone app for the first time. I've put all my strings into a Localizable.strings file, accessing them via NSLocalizedString from within my code. Works fine. Next, I have a file called info.html that contains the flesh of a UIWebView that I use as an About box. I've put it in the language folders (en.lproj and de.lproj), and added them to my Resources in Xcode. Now, in Simulator, both the Strings, and the html file display in the appropriate language. However, on the device, the Strings appear localized while the html file remains untranslated. This is a strange inconsistency between Simulator and Device! Anybody know of a workaround? (...other than defying the localization system, and using NSLocalizedString to call de_info.html, en_info.html etc. by hand.)

• Constraining window position to desktop working area

  I want to allow a user to drag my Win32 window around only inside the working area of the desktop. In other words, they shouldn't be able to have any part of the window extend outside the monitor(s) nor should the window overlap the taskbar. I'd like to do it in a way that does cause any stuttering. Handling WM_MOVE messages and calling MoveWindow() to reposition the window if it goes off works, but I don't like the flickering effect that's caused by MoveWindow(). I also tried handling WM_MOVING which prevents the need to call MoveWindow() by altering the destination rectangle before the move actually happens. This resolves the flickering problem, but another issue I run into is that the cursor some times gets aways from the window when a drag occurs allowing the user to drag the window around while the cursor is not even inside the window. How do I constrain my window without running into these issues?
