• Fabfile with support for sqlalchemy-migrate deployments?

  I have database migrations (with sqlalchemy-migrate) working well in my dev environment. However, I'm a little stumped about how to integrate this into my deployment process. I'm using fabric for deployment but having some trouble scripting the migrations part. The path to the to migrations directory in site-packages is dynamic (due to changing egg version number) and I'd rather not hard code my db password into the fabfile. Does anyone have a fabfile that plays nicely with sqlalchemy-migrate?

• Packaging reference documentation with jar file

  We are porting our .NET library to a java equivalent and is now looking at how to distribute this port. Packaging the classes into a jar-file seems like best practice and we would then ship this jar file in a zip along with some license terms. But what about the documentation? In .NET land it seems like best practice to distribute the xml file that can be consumed by tooling (Visual Studio) but we can't seem to find such best practices for java. We have javadoc comments on our public classes and interfaces, so we are just looking for a way to generate and distribute these comments in a way that is developer friendly (we're thinking easily consumed from various IDEs). What are developers expecting and how do you best deliver this? We would really prefer to bundle the documentation along with the jar file and not have to host the documentation on our website EDIT: We would like for our documentation to appear inside the java IDEs so we want to provide the documentation in a way that integrates into the IDEs as gracefully as possible. In .NET land this is as an xml file placed next to the .dll file, but is there a similar concept for jar files that enables the integration into tooling? PS: We are developing in Eclipse and have an ant task doing the building and jar-file packaing in our automated build.

Now My problem is - those new records don't get reflected to other list (created queries and exported to SP sites) that are in different sites Is there any way to work around above problem. • iPhone SDK: Progressive UITableView updates, smoothly animated

  Hi all, There's something I've been trying to do with no success. I have an UITableView whose viewController is both its delegate and dataSource. On it I also have a mutableArray as a property, which basically acts as the tableView dataSource. This mutableArray gets continously updated from an online XML source. What I haven't been able to accomplish successfully is to animate the adding of new rows at the top of the tableView and the deletion of the oldest rows at its bottom (thinking I'll always going to show the same amount of data, say the latest 10 entries). The method I'm actually using is that, after finishing receiving and parsing the XML data I'm removing all the contents of the mutableArray and storing the new entries on it, to later reload the tableView (calling the 'reloadData' method). In between I'm using a CATransition in order to 'fade' the tableView from its previous to its new state. I tried using beginUpdates and endUpdates, with code for selectively removing the old rows from the tableView and adding the new ones to it, as well as to its datasource, however the animation takes place in the whole table instead of the affected rows only. What I want to accomplish is, after an update, to delete as many rows from the 'bottom' of the table as new entries I have retrieved, sliding the tableView down and adding the new rows at the top of it, smoothly animated. • Session expiry times?

  Hi, I've enabled sessions on my app: // appengine-web.xml <sessions-enabled>true</sessions-enabled> they seem to work when I load different pages under my domain. If I close the browser however, looks like the session is terminated. Restarting the browser shows the last session is no longer available. That could be fine, just wondering if this is documented anywhere, so I can rely on this fact? I tried the following just to test if we can tweak it: // in web.xml <session-config> <session-timeout>10</session-timeout> </session-config> also // in my servlet getThreadLocalRequest().getSession().setMaxInactiveInterval(60 * 5); but same behavior, session data is no longer available after browser restart. I looked at the stats for my project and I see data being used for something like "_ah_SESSION" objects. Are those the sessions from above? If so, shouldn't they be cleaned since they're no longer valid? (Hopefully gae takes care of that automatically?) Thanks

• executing a script from maven inside a multi module project

  Hi everyone. I have this multi-module project. In the beginning of each build I would like to run some bat file.   I'm getting an error when I run the Spree sample data. It occurs when Spree tries to load in the product data, specifically the product images.   I'm having a hard time trying to get my stored procedure works with NHibernate. The data returned from the SP does not correspond to any database table. And later on in CheckNamedQueries function, it is not able to find the persistor for SomeClass. I've checked all the obvious things (e.g. make hbm as an embedded resource) and my code isn't too much different from other samples I found on the web, but somehow I just can't get it working. Any idea how I can resolve this issue?

  In the article Using Java DB in Desktop Applications the Address Book demo have a method disconnect which have a try-catch block that catch and ignores the exception. If you add a printStackTrace you can see that the exception always occur. What's wrong here? The JavaDB should not throw this exception, or they should fix something in the example program?

  I have written a large C# app with many methods in many classes. I'm trying to keep a log of what gets called and how often during my development. (I keep a record in a DB) Every method is padded with the following calls: void myMethod() { log(entering,args[]); log(exiting,args[]); } Since I want to do this for all my methods, is there a better way to do this then having to replicate those lines of code in every method?

• Eclipse won't believe I have Maven 2.2.1

  I have a project (built from an AppFuse template) that requires Maven 2.2.1. So I upgraded to this (from 2.1.0) and set my path and my M2_HOME and MAVEN_HOME env variables. Then I ran mvn eclipse:eclipse and imported the project into Eclipse (Galileo). However, in the problems list for the project (and at the top of the pom.xml GUI editor) it says: Unable to build project '/export/people/clegg/data/GanymedeWorkspace/funcserve/pom.xml; it requires Maven version 2.2.1 (Please ignore 'GanymedeWorkspace', I really am using Galileo!) This persists whether I set Eclipse to use its Embedded Maven implementation, or the external 2.2.1 installation, in the Preferences - Maven - Installations dialog. I've tried closing and reopening the project, reindexing the repository, cleaning the project, restarting the IDE, logging out and back in again, everything I can think of! But Eclipse still won't believe I have Maven 2.2.1. I just did a plugin update so I have the latest version of Maven Integration for Eclipse -- 0.9.8.200905041414. Does anyone know how to convince Eclipse I really do have the right version of Maven? It's like it's recorded the previous version somewhere else and won't pay any attention to my changes :-( Many thanks! Andrew.

I've seen a litany of them for SQL Server, a few for MySQL and Oracle, but nothing that supports SQL Anywhere correctly. I tried using DB Solo, but it turned all my non-unique indexes into unique ones, and I didn't see any options to change that.

  I'm calling in a RSS feed to my website using PHP. Currently my code below is calling in the entire contents for pubDate: <pubDate>Thu, 12 Sep 2013 07:23:59 +0000</pubDate> How do I just display the day and month from the above example i.e. 12 Sep? EDIT I should clarify, the above line of code is an example output I currently get but as I'm calling the latest 3 posts from an RSS feed, this date and time will vary. I therefore need the code to be more dynamic (if that's the right term!) • Change the precision of all decimal columns in every table in the database

  Hi all, I have a rather large database that has alot of decimal columns in alot of tables, the customer has now changed their mind and wants all the numbers (decimals) to have a precision of 3 d.p. instead of the original two. Is there any quick way of going through all the tables in a database and changing any decimal column in that table to have 3.d.p instead of 2 d.p? The db is on sql 2005. Any help would be great.

I thought TEXT data type was able to expand and handle this size of data? What am I missing and what can I do?
