• Pear MDB2 class and raiserror exceptions in SQL Server

  Hi, in SQL Server it's possible to raise an error with raiserror(). I want to use a severity, which doesn't interrupt the connection. This error is raised in a stored procedure. In SQL Management Studio all is fine and I get my error code when executing this SP. But when trying to execute this SP via MDB2 in PHP5 this doesn't work. All I get is an empty array. MDB2 object is created via (including needed options): $db =& MDB2::connect($dsn); $db->setFetchMode(MDB2_FETCHMODE_ASSOC); $db->setOption('portability',MDB2_PORTABILITY_ALL ^ MDB2_PORTABILITY_EMPTY_TO_NULL); The following works (I get a PEAR error): $db->query("RAISERROR('test',11,0);"); But when calling a stored procedure which raises this error via $db->query("EXEC sp_raise_error"); there is not output. What's wrong?

I tried removing openjdk-6, but then it wanted to install openjdk-7 instead, with the same result, hanging at openjdk-7-jre-headless instead. I also tried changing servers from my local (Danish) to the main server. No luck. It's also keeping me from upgrading alle the other packages. What to do?

• Doxygen for C++ template class member specialization

  When I write class templates, and need to fully-specialize members of those classes, Doxygen doesn't recognize the specialization - it documents only the generic definition, or (if there are only specializations) the last definition. I need to be able to document the specializations - either within the documentation for MyClass<T>, or on new pages for MyClass<double>, MyClass<char>. How do I do this? Can Doxygen even handle this? Am I possibly doing something wrong in the declarations/code structure that's keeping Doxygen from understanding what I want? I should note two related cases: A) For templated functions, specialization works fine, e.g.: /* functions that are global/in a namespace */ template<class T> void foo(){ printf("Generic foo\n"); } template<> void foo<double>(){ printf("Specialized double foo\n"); } This will document both foo() and foo(). But this means actually declaring an entirely new class - there is no relation between MyClass<T> and MyClass<double> if MyClass<double> itself is declared. So I'd have to redeclare the class and all its members, and repeat all the definitions of class members, specialized for MyClass<double>, all to make it appear as though they're using the same template. • Generating grammatically correct MUD-style attack descriptions

  I am currently working on a text based game, where the outcome of a combat round goes something like this %attacker% inflicts a serious wound (12 points damage) on %defender% Right now, I just swap %attacker% with the name of the attacker, and %defender% for the name of the defender. However, the description works, but don't read correctly. Since the game is just all text, I don't want to resort to generic descriptions (Such as "You use Attack on Goblin for 5 damage", which arguably solve the problem) How do I generate correct descriptions for cases where %attacker% refers to "You", the player? "You inflicts..." is wrong "Bees", or other plural? I need somehow to know I should prefix the name with a "The " If %attacker% is a generic noun, such as "Goblin", it will read weird as opposed to %attacker% being a name. Compare "Goblin inflicts..." vs. "Aldraic Swordbringer inflicts...." How does text-based games usually resolve such issues?

• AVAudioRecorder prepareToRecord works, but record fails

  I just built and tested a basic AVAudioRecorder/AVAudioPlayer sound recorder and player. Eventually I got this working on the device, as well as the simulator. My player/recorder code is in a single UIView subclass. Unfortunately, when I copy the class into my main project, it no longer works (on the device--the simulator is fine). prepareToRecord is working fine, but record isn't. Either the server is overloaded or there was an error in a CGI script. If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster." Why this happened?. Any thing wrong here? Anything needs to see my pages under the folder. Please give me the answer.

• How are generics implemented?

  This is the question from compiler internals perspective. I am interested in generics, not templates (C++), so I marked the question with C#. Not Java, because AFAIK the generics in both languages differ in implementations. When I look at languages w/o generics it is pretty straightforward, you can validate the class definition, add it to hierarchy and that's it. But what to do with generic class, and more importantly how handle references to it? How to make sure that static fields are singular per instantiations (i.e. each time generic parameters are resolved). Let's say I see a call: var x = new Foo<Bar>(); Do I add new Foo_Bar class to hierarchy? • Alternative printer driver for Fuji Xerox DocuPrint P205b?

  Is there a driver for a similar printer that also happens to work for the Fuji Xerox P205 b? I have tried the generic PCL 5 driver and the generic PostScript driver but they do not work. Any other suggestions? I'm on 10.10 (Maverick). Update The Fuji Xerox website has a Linux driver download as an .iso image. When you open the image you will see 3 drivers. One for HP UX for the PA-RISC and another for Solaris SPARC and one for RedHat x86, x86-64, etc. I picked the RedHat for my computer. It invokes RPM so install that first. The installation script crashes.

• GRUB2 panic: "No such partition"

  I managed to install 10.04 on a system that already has 8.04 (separate partitions, of course). It also installed GRUB2 onto the MBR. After discovering that there is no menu.lst anymore, I edited /etc/grub.d/40_custom to point to where my other OS partitions are: menuentry "Ubuntu 8.04" { set root=(hd0,0) linux /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.24-28-generic initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.24-28-generic } menuentry "Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit" { set root=(hd0,2) chainloader (hd0,2)+1 } GRUB2 displays the menu with those entries but when I select any of them, it refuses to load them, saying "No such partition". I know the partitions are there, as 10.04's "Disk Utility" sees them without any problem. How do I get GRUB2 to recognize them?

  Is there a way to have some sort of rich text in a file, and load the file into an NSAttributedString?   Hi, I would like to know what lines of C code to add to a program so that it tells me the total time that the program takes to run. I guess there should be counter initialization near the beginning of main and one after the main function ends. Is the right header clock.h? Thanks a lot... Update I have a Win Xp machine.   I'm trying to call a Page Method using a jQuery 'attached' event function, in which I like to use the closure to keep the event target local, as below, but page method calls declare several 'error' functions, and I would like to use one function for all of them. If, in the below code, I was handling an error and not success, how could I use my single, anonymous handler for all 3 error functions? $(":button").click(function () { var button = this; PageMethods.DoIt( function (a, b, c) { alert(button); }); }); This example passes an anonymous function for the success callback. There is only one of these. If I was passing an error callback, how could I use 'function (e, c, t)' for all 3 error callbacks?

  Hi guys, I'm working with the jQuery Validation plugin and I wrote the following code which adds a class to the element's parent if not valid (as well as inserting the actual error message at a particular location within the parent): errorPlacement: function(error, element) { element.parent().addClass('error'); error.insertBefore(element.parent().children("br")); } This works, however, if a field's content is corrected and becomes valid, the class obviously doesn't get removed from its parent (actually, neither does the error element, instead it just gets a display: none; CSS property). How can I check if an element becomes valid and remove its parent class if so ? Any help would be much appreciated, thank you !

• Why won't USB 3.0 external hard drive run at USB 3.0 speeds?

  I recently purchased a PCI Express x1 USB 3.0 controller card (containing the NEC USB 3.0 controller) with the intent of using a USB 3.0 external hard drive with my Linux box. I installed the card in an empty PCIe slot on my motherboard, connected the card to a power cable, strung a USB 3.0 cable between one of the new ports and my external HDD, and connected the HDD to a wall socket for power. Booting the system, the drive works 100% as intended, with the one exception of throughput: rather than using SuperSpeed 4.8 Gbps connectivity, it seems to be falling back to High Speed 480 Mbps USB 2.0-style throughput. Disk Utility shows it as a 480 Mbps device, and running a couple Disk Utility and dd benchmarks confirms that the drive fails to exceed ~40 MB/s (the approximate limit of USB 2.0), despite it being an SSD capable of far more than that. Consequently, I installed the 2.6.37-generic mainline Ubuntu kernel to determine if the problem would go away. It didn't, so I tried 2.6.38-rc3-generic, and even the 2.6.38 nightly from 2010.02.01, to no avail. In short, I'm trying to determine why, with USB 3.0 support in the kernel, my USB 3.0 drive fails to run at full SuperSpeed throughput. See the comments under this question for additional details.
