• 2d movement solution

  Hi! I'm making a simple top-down tank game on the ipad where the user controls the movement of the tank with the left "joystick" and the rotation of the turret with the right one. I've spent several hours just trying to get it to work decently but now I turn to the pros :) I have two referencial objects, one for the movement and one for the rotation. The referencial objects always stay max two units away from the tank and I use them to tell the tank in what direction to move. I chose this approach to decouple movement and rotational behaviour from the raw input of the joysticks, I believe this will make it simpler to implement whatever behaviour I want for the tank. My problem is 1; the turret rotates the long way to the target. With this I mean that the target can be -5 degrees away in rotation and still it rotates 355 degrees instead of -5 degrees. I can't figure out why. The other problem is with the movement. It just doesn't feel right to have the tank turn while moving. I'd like to have a solution that would work as well for the AI as for the player. A blackbox function for the movement where the player only specifies in what direction it should move and it moves there under the constraints that are imposed on it. I am using the standard joystick class found in the Unity iPhone package. I'm thinking that I'm making it too difficult for myself with the reference points but I'm imagining that it's a good idea. Please be honest about this point. So I'll be grateful for any help I can get! I'm using Unity3d iPhone. Thanks!

• Getting Rails Application Running Under IronRuby Rack

  Anyone else playing with ironruby? I have successfully got the IronRuby.Rails.Example project running on my local machine under IIS 5.1. I am now attempting to get my own demo rails site running in the same way. My web.config is slightly different from the example project. I am attempting to only use what was distributed with IronRuby 1.0 and what I have installed using gems. I am getting the following error which doesn't give me a lot to go on: D:/demo/config/boot.rb:66:in `exit': exit (SystemExit) After trying many different things, I think it is having a problem finding gems. I have attached my web config and ironrack.log. Does anyone have pointers on what I am doing wrong? • eclipse debugger: attaching source-code of maven managed libraries

  I'd like to use the source code of maven-managed dependencies when debugging our webapp in eclipse. I have managed to attach the sources to the libraries in the "Maven Managed Depedencies" classpath container, i.e. when I open a class file from a depedency (e.g. using Ctrl-Shift-T), I see the source code. However, when I launch the tomcat within eclipse, and execution halts on a breakpoint in that same class, the editor pane only displays the text "source not found", and a button to edit the "source lookup path". I have attempted to manually add the "Maven Managed Dependencies" classpath container, only to be told "Use maven project settings to configure depedency resolution". However, I see no useful setting in that property pane ... How can I attach those sources?

• Opening a local file in Eclipse from the web

  Right now, when I notice a problem on a page on my PHP web site, I have to look at the URL, mentally deduce what file is responsible for displaying that page, then navigate the Eclipse PDT file tree to open that file. This is annoying and uses brain power that could have been applied to solving the issue instead. I would like my PHP web site to display on every page a link that I could click to automatically open the correct file in Eclipse. I can easily compute the complete absolute path for the file I need to open (for example, open C:/xampp/htdocs/controllers/Foo/Bar.php when visiting /foo/bar), and I can make sure that Eclipse is currently open with the correct project loaded, but I'm stuck on how I can have Firefox/Chrome/IE tell Eclipse to open that specific file.

• Building a directory tree from a list of file paths

  I am looking for a time efficient method to parse a list of files into a tree. There can be hundreds of millions of file paths. The brute force solution would be to split each path on occurrence of a directory separator, and traverse the tree adding in directory and file entries by doing string comparisons but this would be exceptionally slow. The input data is usually sorted alphabetically, so the list would be something like: C:\Users\Aaron\AppData\Amarok\Afile C:\Users\Aaron\AppData\Amarok\Afile2 C:\Users\Aaron\AppData\Amarok\Afile3 C:\Users\Aaron\AppData\Blender\alibrary.dll C:\Users\Aaron\AppData\Blender\and_so_on.txt From this ordering my natural reaction is to partition the directory listings into groups... somehow... before doing the slow string comparisons. I'm really not sure. I would appreciate any ideas. Edit: It would be better if this tree were lazy loaded from the top down if possible.

• PHP exec() on windows not working

  Hey, I'm trying to execute a program on windows through PHP, the command is posted below. This doesn't seem to be running through the script at all, even though it works when the command is manually entered into the command prompt. exec('C:\\ffmpeg -i ' . $movedfile .   I've got an online portfolio that I'm putting up: Image Gallery I've got a php script that selects at most 15 images from a database that contains the urls for the images. e.g. foreach ($database-result as $img) { echo '<a href="path/to/image/' . $img . '">'; ? When the page first loads, the scroll bar expands as if it is loading invisible images (indeed I think that's what it is doing). Then the javascript kicks in and the gallery loads. I have two questions: first, the image loader is not displaying at all. I don't mind if it takes a bit, as long as the user knows the images are loading. Any ideas why it's not showing up? But my consoleapp crashs when i call the cgi script. So i did a little debuging and write a text file after some actions i do in my .net program. The result was that my programm crash everytime i'd like to open a access mdb file. It told me that i need the Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC). But i cant belive this message because my .net consoleapp runs without errors if i start it from my own. So can anybody give me some advise how i can call my .net consol ab through a webscript. Nothing else changed. Then run this app from vs2010 built-in web server, it is fine, I can see the login user info from windws(from a AD domain account) display on the top-right of the screen, like DomainName\userName. • Escaping Hyphens with pkg-config through qmake

  I am trying to compile an application using qmake that is using pkg-config to bring in yaml-cpp. Unlike using pkg-config through the terminal qmake which is formatted like: pkg-config --libs --cflags yaml-cpp qmake actually spits out the include paths inside the make command like this: -I/usr/local/include/yaml-cpp This include path breaks subsequent includes which I've set in my qmake file. It's not possible for me to rearrange these includes due the order in which qmake parses its variables. Is it possible using qmake to escape the quote somehow or to make it use the first quoted configuration?

  What I am trying to achieve is to extract all links with a href attribute that starts with http://, https:// or /. These links lie within a table (tbody tr td etc) with a certain class. I thought I could specify just the the a element without the whole path to it but it does not seem to work. • Rotating a full 360 degrees in WPF 3D

  Hi, I have a ModelVisual3D of a cube and I want to animate it to rotate around its axis for 360 degrees. I make a RoationTransform3D which I tell to rotate 360 but it doesn't rotate at all, also if you say 270 degrees it rotates only 90 degrees but in the opposite direction. I guess he computer calculates the "shortest path" of the rotation. The best solution I have come up with is to make one animation turn 180 and after it finishes call another 180 to complete the full rotation. Is there a way to do it in one animation? • iPhone Icon file in bundle blank when building for App store distribution

  I have been spinning my wheels for a couple hours on why when I build my app with my distribution cert with the device as the target the Icon.png file in the bundle is empty. If I build with my developer cert or against the simulator the Icon.png in the bundle matches the one in my project file. I have verified my Icon.png is 57X57, has no alpha channel, had extra finder attributes removed. I even took one of the Icon.png files from my first application that is in the store today, and it didn't work either. In my XAML file, I have a ListBox declared like this : <ListBox x:Name="lstDeck" Height="280" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=Deck}" > <ListBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <ListBoxItem Content="{Binding}" /> </DataTemplate> </ListBox.ItemTemplate> </ListBox> In my view model, Deck is an ObservableCollection, so that binding directly displays the content of my collection. But when I have several value that hold the same value (for example "10" six times), the selection in the ListBox has a weird behaviour : it select 2-3 elements instead of the only the one on which I clicked. Moreover, when I click to another listBoxItem, it doesn't unfocus the previous selected one. Then it is impossible to see which item is actually selected, and impossible to get the SelectedIndex value. Has someone an idea?

  My Project has 2 java files (A.java and B.java in same package). A.java uses methods in B.java. And, an external jar has been added in the project build path. In order to create a web service (bottom up) from the class, I created a new Dynamic Web Project in Eclipse with axis2 as the runtime platform, and imported A.java and B.java source files. Next, since all my methods that need to be exposed are contained in A.java, I right click on it and created web service using the standard settings. When I deploy the web service on my apache, I get "Fault Service" and a few ClassNotFound Exceptions for some of the classes in my external jar file (I have already imported it as an external jar). Does the external jar needs to be imported in another way?

• Why do users have to enter a 7-digit twitter PIN to grant my application access?

  I am implementing some ruby on rails code tweet stuff for my users. I am creating the proper oauth link...something like http://twitter.com/oauth/authorize?oauth_token=y2RkuftYAEkbEuIF7zKMuzWN30O2XxM8U9j0egtzKv But after my test account grants access to twitter, it pulls up a page saying "You've successfully granted access to . Simply return to and enter the following PIN to complete the process. 1234567" I have no idea where the user should enter this PIN and why they have to do that. I don't think this should be a necessary step. Twitter should be redirecting the user to the callback URL I provided in the application settings. Does anyone know why this is happening? UPDATE I found this article that states I need to send my users to this URL (note "authenticate" instead of "authorize"): http://twitter.com/oauth/authenticate?oauth_token=y2RkuftYAEkbEuIF7zKMuzWN30O2XxM8U9j0egtzKv I made the change but Twitter redirects the user to the authorize path after he clicks "Allow" which then gives him the 7 digit PIN again!

• Poorly performing regex

  I've a really poorly performing piece of regex, currently it makes Firefox, Chrome and IE hang for a period of time. Here's the reg-ex: ^([a-zA-Z0-9]+[/]?)+[a-zA-Z0-9]+$ It's kind of a url matcher, but should only match the requested path (not starting with or ending with a slash). Valid examples: Segment Segment/Segment segment/segment/Segment (etc) Invalid examples: /Segment Segment/ Segment/Segment/ Using the regex above over all three browsers and using two or more slashes causes the browsers to hang. It's obviously a poorly formed reg-ex, but can anyone help build a better one? Thanks,

  I'm having a problem with FlashBuilder in what is clearly a compiler bug, but I can't track it down. When my project is compiled inside FlashBuilder, I'm getting the following compiler errors: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: [mx.binding]::IBindingClient Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: [mx.binding]::IWatcherSetup2 Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: [mx.core]::IStateClient2 These errors are reported without a path or location. My project is a flex4 project, moderately complex. It has 6 swc projects, which are referenced within a swf project. (The swf project is the one that's reporting the error). The ANT build script compiles the project fine. The problem exists on more than 1 PC. How do I start tracking down what's causing the problem?

I have make custom Accessdenied page where I am showing message to user he has not permission to access this page Now the issue is, If systemAdmin try to hit Admin folder page, he will be redirected to AccessDenied.apsx page. (please Note: both user are authenticated, 1 user have permission to some folder and other user have permission to other folder.
