• Debug message "Resource interpreted as other but transferred with MIME type application/javascript"

  OK, I understand what the messages means, but I'm really not sure what's causing it. I'm using Safari and the Web Inspector on Mac OS X, by the way. I've got the following in my document head: <script src="http://local.url/a/js/jquery.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="http://local.url/a/js/jquery.inplace.js" type="text/javascript"></script> jquery.js is handled fine, but the other file causes the warning. It also seems that the javascript in this file never gets executed. The file is being served via mod_deflate, so it is gzip encoded, but so is the other file. Has anybody got any ideas what's causing this, or how to resolve it? Cheers all, Gaz.

• Problem with the nonresponding threads

  Hello there, I have a web application which runs multiple threads on button click each thread making IO call on different ipAddresses ie(login windows account and then making file operations). There is a treshold value of 30 seconds. I assume that while login attempt if the treshold is exceeded, device on ipAddress does not match my conditions thus I dont care it. Thread.Abort() does not fit my situation where it waits for the IO call to finish which might take long time. I tried doing the db operations acording to states of the threads right after the treshold timeout. It worked fine but when I checked out the log file, I noticed that the thread.IsAlive property of the nonresponding threads were still true. After several debuggings on my local pc, I encountered a possible deadlock situation (which i suspect) that my pc crashed badly. In short, do you have any idea about killing (forcefully) nonresponding threads (waiting for the IO opreation) right after the execution of the button_click?   I am using Struts-1. I have developed a struts-based web application. I am using struts tags in my JSP pages supplied in struts-taglib.jar by inserting the following lines in the JSP file: <%@ taglib prefix="html" uri="http://struts.apache.org/tags-html" %> <%@ taglib prefix="logic" uri="http://struts.apache.org/tags-logic" %> <%@ taglib prefix="bean" uri="http://struts.apache.org/tags-bean" %> Now the application is working fine when I run it on my localsystem but when I deploy it on a server, it shows the following exception: org.apache.jasper.JasperException: The absolute uri: http://struts.apache.org/tags-html cannot be resolved in either web.xml or the jar files deployed with this application From the above exception, it seems that the application hasn't found the struts-taglib.jar file. But I have put the struts-taglib.jar in /WEB-INF/lib directory. Then where is the problem?

• Using SAS Macro to pipe a list of filenames from a Windows directory

  I am trying to amend the macro below to accept a macro parameter as the 'location' argument for a dir command. However I cannot get it to resolve correctly due to the nested quotes issue. Using %str(%') does not work, neither do quoting functions for some reason. The macro will work fine when the filepath has no spaces (eg C:\temp\withnospace) as the middle quotes aren't needed. However I need this macro to work for filepaths with spaces (eg 'C:\temp\with space\'). • .net web service: Can't add service reference, only web reference

  I have an existing project that consumes web services. One was added as a service reference, and the other as a web reference. I don't recall why one was added as a web reference, but perhaps it's because I couldn't get it to work! The existing service reference for the one web service works fine, so it's not a .net version issue. I can successfully create a service reference for the second web service, but none of the methods are available. The .wsdl shows the schema, but the Reference.vb shows only the Namespace, and none of the methods. To clarify, these are two different 3rd party web service providers. We'd like to move to the service reference so we have more control over the configuration as we're having various issues with timeouts. Anyone come across this before? Edit Does it matter that there are two services at the address?

• Crystal Reports Server - Database Login Needs to go Away

  The environment I'm working in is a Crystal Reports Server 2008 talking to a MySQL Server 5.1 database using JDBC. The problem is that I get a database logon screen every time I try to access a report from Crystal Reports Server. I've setup a JDBC connection using the MySQL Connector/J driver. When I create a .rpt file I provide the login credentails all is fine. I then publish to InfoView and go to access the report and it prompts me for username and password to the database. I then went to CMC and right-clicked on the report and opened the Database Configuration. I've selected 'Use original database logon information from the report' and 'Use same database logon as when report is run'. However, I still get the logon screen when I try to access the report.

When I try to retrieve the choice field, I got an PropertyOrFieldNotInitializedException exception... • Cannot change font size in Tk

  Hello, I'm trying, for the first time, to create a GUI in Ruby using Tk. I've copied a code snippet from one of the numerous web tutorials and try to change the font for one of the labels, but nothing seems to affect how the text is presented. Here's the code: require 'tk' root = TkRoot.new('title'=>'MCIS') defaultFont = TkFont.new("weight"=>'bold', "size"=>20) Lbl = TkLabel.new(root) do text "Boooo" borderwidth 5 font defaultFont foreground "red" relief "groove" grid('column'=>3, 'row'=>0) end Tk.mainloop() I see the effects of all the parameters of the label but not the font. I've tried to change the size, the weight, give different family names, leave just one parameter; nothing works - the font stays default as it was. Surprisingly it doesn't report any errors, everything looks fine. Maybe it's versions problem? I run these: Linux Centos 5 Tk 8.4.13 Ruby 1.8.5 ruby-tcltk 1.8.5 Also, don't know if it is important, I ran it via Xming from WinXP machine.

• NSFetchedResultsController Crashes When Navigating from One UITableViewController to Another

  In my core data model I have a Person entity that has a "to many" relationship a Course entity (I also have an inverse "to one" relationship from Course to Person). Now I have a subclassed UITableViewController that uses a NSFetchedResultsController to display Person objects which works fine. I have this set up so that when you click on a Person it publishes another subclassed UITableViewController that uses a NSFetchedController as well to display the Courses associated to the person. PROBLEM: I get this exception whenever I click on the Person and attempt to display the Course UITableViewController ... "Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: 'keypath name not found in entity <NSSQLEntity Course id=2>'" Any ideas on how to resolve or troubleshoot? The code between the two ViewControllers is almost identical except for the NSFetchedResultsController being configured for "Person" entities in one and "Course" entities in another

• Cannot get NLogViewer to receive msgs from local machine

  I cannot get NLogViewer to receive msgs from local machine. My machine is Windows 7. I am able to get a remote machine to send NLog messages to my local box and NLogViewer on my local box shows the message fine. But, if I run an app locally, and config NLog to spit messages to my local box, NLogViewer doesn't get the messages. Here's my config: <targets> <target name="viewer" xsi:type="NLogViewer" address="udp://localhost:4050"/> </targets> <rules> <logger name="*" minlevel="Info" writeTo="viewer" /> <rules> Is it Windows 7 security? • Filter, sort and paginate in Codeigniter

  Ive recently started using CodeIgniter as I was searching for a very lightweight framework and it seemed to come up as a top choice. I am new to the whole MVC thing, enjoying it but am stuck with something which seems very simple. I am coding a CMS and need a way to filter, sort and paginate the results. I am used to doing it with querystrings, so I would have something along the lines of: articles.php?order=title&sort=desc&filter=articletitle&page=5 I have no idea how I would go about doing this in CI so I just turned on the EnableQueryStrings in the config and it works fine, but i am getting the feeling its probably not the most elegant solution. I suppose I could have index.php/articles/index/order/title/sort/desc/filter/articletitle/page/5 but to me this seems very inflexible, what if for example i dont need to sort, how would i make sure i am looking at the correct uri segment? any ideas?

• Embedding icon in .exe with py2exe, visible in Vista?

  Hello, I've been trying to embed an icon (.ico) into my "compyled" .exe with py2exe. Py2Exe does have a way to embed an icon: windows=[{ 'script':'MyScript.py', 'icon_resources':[(1,'MyIcon.ico')] }] And that's what I am using. The icon shows up fine on Windows XP or lower, but doesn't show at all on Vista. I suppose this is because of the new Vista icon format, which can be in PNG format, up to 256x256 pixels. So, how can I get py2exe to embed them into my executable, without breaking the icons on Windows XP? I'm cool with doing it with an external utility rather than py2exe - I've tried this command-line utility to embed it, but it always corrupts my exe and truncates its size for some reason.

• Internet Explorer SPAN style issue when Input button is removed

  Internet Explorer does not remove the extra padding from my button when the input button is missing. The input button will sometimes be missing, because on a dynamic page the button will sometimes be hidden. See my example using Internet Explorer when viewing my demo link: http://media.apus.edu/it/evan-testing/form.htm I tested this in Firefox, Safari, Chrome, etc. and all browsers have my style completely removed if the form button is missing. edit It was asked what internet explorer version does this happen in and it occurs in ie7. It works just fine in IE8. Any hacks for this for IE7 then?

• Convert byte array from Oracle RAW to System.Guid?

  My app interacts with both Oracle and SQL Server databases using a custom data access layer written in ADO.NET using DataReaders. Right now I'm having a problem with the conversion between GUIDs (which we use for primary keys) and the Oracle RAW datatype. Inserts into oracle are fine (I just use the ToByteArray() method on System.Guid). The problem is converting back to System.Guid when I load records from the database. Currently, I'm using the byte array I get from ADO.NET to pass into the constructor for System.Guid. This appears to be working, but the Guids that appear in the database do not correspond to the Guids I'm generating in this manner. I can't change the database schema or the query (since it's reused for SQL Server). I need code to convert the byte array from Oracle into the correct Guid.

• PyQt error: No such signal QObject::dataChanged

  PyQt application works fine, but when I close it Python shows this message: "Object::connect: No such signal QObject::dataChanged(QModelIndex,QModelIndex)" What is the cause of this? There isn't dataChanged signal in the program. • Force WPF to Commit Changes on Focused Element

  I'm working with VS2010, WPF and EF. I've placed controls on my window by dragging an entity out of the Data Sources toolwindow. I used the "details" setting so my entity is represented by several labels and textboxes. I've also added a button with the following code: _context.SaveChanges(); When I'm editing data, the changes in whichever textbox has focus are not committed back to the DB. Everything else commits just fine. If I shift focus to another element prior to hitting the save button, it commits as well. I've experienced the same thing with the DataGrid. I know I'm missing something simple, but I can figure it out. Any ideas on what I'm missing? Thanks!

  I have a PHP class that helps me generate URLs for custom charts using Google Chart service. These URLs work fine when I load them in my browser, but I'm trying to pull them using CURL so I can access the charts on secure https websites. Whenever I try and pull a chart via CURL, I get an Error 400 Bad Request. Any idea on how to get around this? • How to calculate short & long distance via Haversine?

  Hi, I am looking for a way to calculate the distance between 2 points on the globe. We've been told to use Haversine, which works fine to calculate the shortest distance between the 2 points. Now, I'd like to calculate the "long distance" between to points. So suppose you have 2 cities, A in the west and B in the east. I want to know the distance from B to A if I would travel eastwards around the globe and then reach A coming from the west. I've tried changing a couple of things in the haversine function, but doesn't seem to work. Anyone know how I can simply do this using small adjustments to the haversine function? • Filesize with SWFUpload and Amazon S3

  Hello all, I'm currently using SWFUpload to upload files to my S3 bucket. And it's working great. I'm using the script from a website here: http://www.anedix.com/news/article/50 Again, the upload to my S3 works fine, however, I've been running into an issue when attempting to upload larger files. It seems that I cannot upload anything over 50MB. I have tried this from both my webhost and locally, using my local testing environment. My question is this: When uploading with SWFUpload, it should be going straight to Amazon S3, correct? If so, then PHP settings such as MAX_UPLOAD_SIZE should not affect it? (Even though in my local environment, I've set it to 1024MB.) Essentially, what the script does is, shows that it's uploading the file (it takes the appropriate amount of time), redirects to the success page, and does not throw any errors. Any ideas on why this would be happening, or how I can troubleshoot this? Thanks!

• Run both Authorize Filter and Action Filter on unauthenticated ASP.NET MVC request

  I have decorated my base controller with a couple of action filters. They work fine. One of those filters sets up the request - does things like set the culture based on the domain, etc. I also have a handful of actions that require authorization using the Authorize attribute. My problem is that when an user attempts to request a page they are not authorized to access, the authorization filter kicks in and redirects them to a page telling them that they cannot vie the page. The issue is that the action filters never run so the culture and other request data is never set. This effectively causes language to be wrong in the view and other data to be missing. I know that authorization filters run first but my question is this: How can I design this such that I can ensure that certain methods are always run before the view is returned, regardless of the authorization. Hope that makes sense.

• Monitoring disk performance with MRTG

  I use MRTG to monitor vital stats on my servers like disk space, CPU load, memory usage, temperatures etc. It all works fine and well for parameters that don't change rapidly. By running small VB script I can also get any Performance Counter. However these scripts are called by MRTG every 5 minutes while performance counters like physical disk idle time return a snapshot value from previous few seconds so a lot or data is missed. Surely I could write a service that would poll all required counters in background and store average values somewhere on disk where MRTG would pick them up. However before I do so I would like to find out if there is some ready solution that would allow me to get average value of some counter for the last 5 minutes as opposed to immediate snapshot.

• Facebook Application Tab URL

  I have a facebook application that can be added to fan pages as a tab. The application requires that users are authenticated in order to use it. This can be accomplished by using requirelogin=1 in a link which is visible only to users who have NOT added the application. This part works fine. However, after the user has given my application permission from the dhtml pop up that requirelogin opens, I want the tab to reload. In order to do that, I need the full URL to be included in the link as follows: <a href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/PAGE_NAME/PAGE_ID?v=app_APP_ID" requirelogin=1>Authorize</a> I cannot figure out how to get the full url or, at least, the PAGE_NAME to build this url dynamically. Seems like the app should be able to know where it is without any special permissions.

• YUI Menu rendering below "fold" on first open

  I have a YUI menu on the bottom navigation of the screen which creates a large white space beneath it where the action list would be rendered if visible... On the first click the menu will render in that white space which requires the user to scroll to see it... on the second click however it will draw upward (ideally) so that the user does not have to scroll to see the menu... the second click also kills that block of white space... i found adding a style of display:none to the div kills the white space... but then YUI doesn't set the display to block, which from what I understood it should... so I wrote another method that would do that manually... but the same behavior happens, the menu first renders below the fold requiring the user to scroll.... 2nd time its works fine... some reason the top/left positions are not being calculated properly on the first click and i cannot seem to figure out why

• python pdb not breaking in files properly?

  Hi Folks, I wish I could provide a simple sample case that occurs using standard library code, but unfortunately it only happens when using one of our in-house libraries that in turn is built on top of sql alchemy. Basically, the problem is that this break command: (Pdb) print sqlalchemy.engine.base.__file__ /prod/eggs/SQLAlchemy-0.5.5-py2.5.egg/sqlalchemy/engine/base.py (Pdb) break /prod/eggs/SQLAlchemy-0.5.5-py2.5.egg/sqlalchemy/engine/base.py:946 Is just being totally ignored, it seems, by pdb. As in, even though I am positive the code is being hit (both because I can see log messages, and because I've used sys.settrace to check which lines in which files are being hit), pdb is just not breaking there. I suspect that somehow the use of an egg is confusing pdb as to what files are being used (I can't reproduce the error if I use a non-egg'ed library, like pickle; there everything works fine). It's a shot in the dark, but has anyone come across this before? Thanks, /YGA

• Novell Netware 6 and C#

  Hi, I don't know if anyone has any expertise with Novell Netware or not, but I situation where one of my clients is getting a weird error trying to move a file to a netware share. The situation is pretty complicated but I'll try and outline it as best I can. 1) The application is running as a service 2) The file to be moved is a local file in an accessible location (to the service) 3) The file is being moved with FileInfo.MoveTo(). 4) The MoveTo is throwing an IOException and the message is "a device attached to the system is not functioning". I'm at a loss as to explain what might be happening. On a side note, it seems that running a small test program interactively using the same method (FileInfo.MoveTo) to the same location works fine so it seems to be associated with the service itself.
