  • Get content in iframe to use as much space as it needs

    I'm trying to write a simple JavaScript based modal dialog. The JavaScript function takes the content, puts it in a new iframe and adds the iframe to the page. Works great so far, the only problem is that the content of the dialog (e.g. a table) gets wrapped, although plenty of space is available on the page. I'd like the content of the dialog, a table in my case, to use as much space as it needs, without wrapping any lines. I tried lots of combinations of setting width/style.width on the iframe and the table. Nothing did the trick.   • Cannot open a .tif with color using .Net Image or Bitmap classes

    I am attempting to open .tif files that have color in them (300 dpi, PixelFormat.Format24bppRgb) using the .Net Image and Bitmap classes. I always get an "invalid parameter" error when the tiffs have color (works fine for black and white tiffs). If anyone has source code on how to open a .tif with color in it I'd deeply appreciate it.   • Masking/Hiding URL for ASP.net web application

    Hi, I am working in an ASP.NET mvc application. With regards to URL's I could see the Controller and action names in the address bar when user navigates between pages. Is there a way to hide them, such that the address bar always displays http://mywebsite.com without any action names or controller names suffixing them, or is there any other standard practices? Or is it ok to leave the URL as such which can contain action and controller suffixes?

  • In 2011 is it truly necessary to still degrade js?

    Serious question. I tried most of the famous websites (including facebook) and I can say that tons of functionality doesn't degrade at all with js disabled. I've been always told that js should degrade gracefully, but does this still applies in these day and age? ie6 support is being dropped by several sites, and most of the web2.0 relies heavily on js (especially ajax, I even found some sites that doesn't let you login without js enabled). What are your thought about it?

  • Why doesn't Java allow for the creaton of generic arrays?

    There are plenty of questions on stackoverflow from people who have attempted to create an array of generics like so: ArrayList<Foo>[] poo = new ArrayList<Foo>[5]; And the answer of course is that the Java specification doesn't allow you to declare an array of generics. My question however is why ? What is the technical reason underlying this restriction in the java language or java vm? It's a technical curiosity I've always wondered about.

  • Form graphics not set when form loads

    My form has a group box which contains two overlapping rectangles. The form's other controls are two sets of four numeric up down controls to set the rectangles' colors. (nudF1,2,3 and 4 set the rectangle that's in front, and nudB1,2,3 and 4 set the rectangle that's behind.) Everything works fine, except that the rectangles do not display the colors set in the numeric up downs when the form first loads. The numeric up down controls' ChangeValue events all call the ShowColors() method. The form's Load event calls the csColorsForm_Load() method. At top of my page I have a link bar and whenver I am at contact.aspx I can't navigate to the other pages as if that I need to fill in the necessary data so that it satisfies the validator.     As the title says, I need to make these plugins work together well. The mini buffer explorer just automatically opens after I open the second file(press Enter in project plugin window), then Mini Buffer Explorer opens as the third window on the top of my screen. But after I switch back to project plugin window and press Enter to open the third file, a fourth window opened! It seems project plugin can't overwrite the second file's window.     Imagine a have a table with a column named status: status ------ A A A B C C D D D How can I count how many rows have A, how many rows have B etc? this kind of output: A |B |C |D |E ------------------ 3 |1 |2 |3 |0 As for E = O , this will always be A,B,C,D and E Output should be one row (thus 1 query). When doing a distinct count (most returning answer on my searches, it does return how many different elements there are, 4 in this case...)

    I use solr+django-haystack I set settings.HAYSTACK_INCLUDE_SPELLING = True and rebuild index I'm trying to get any suggestion using: SearchQuerySet().auto_query('tryng ani word her').spelling_suggestion() But I always get None What should I do to get at least one working suggestion ? may be I need add some configuration into solr config or have some specific data indexed ?

  • Arrow in nav menus in CSS/JS (e.g. playframework.org)

    The navigation menu at the top of the www.playframework.org site features a small arrow pointing upward for the currently selected section (Home, Learn, Download,...). I tried to get behind the implementation they used, but I can't wrap my head around it - the resource does not show up in Chrome's Resources window, and an inspection of the elements did not show any signs of a background image, nor a JS interceptor (although I might have missed that). What in hellhound's name is going on there? :)

  • Create jquery dropdown like RDP Menu Bar

Basically, I want a block of html to stay hidden at the top of the page with a ~3px edge sticking out (something to mouseover), and when you mouse over it, the hidden section slides down. Basically I want it to work like the RDP full screen menu bar works. Any thoughts on what the best way of doing this is?
