  I believe my question may be best answered by using Access since that's more what it's made for. However, I don't have a license for Access here at work and trying to get one is pulling teeth. So I'm curious if there is any way to compile reports with data in an Excel 2007 sheet. The output can be .doc, .docx, .pdf - or anything else if there's a decent piece of free 3rd party software. This might be easiest solved by just creating another sheet in the same workbook and directly linking to the data I want to display in a report-esque format. But I wanted to see if SU could offer some more creative solutions.

• How to run wireshark on the background without the GUI?

  Hello everybody, I am trying to run Wireshark on Mac OS X, on the background. I did install the command line utilities, and so I am able to start wireshark and capture packet using the command line. The only thing I want now is to run it on the background, without even having the X11 icon on the task bar and see the window of wireshark. I believe it is possible but can't find anything on the doc of Wireshark. Maybe another way would be to find a trick to hide an icon on Mac OS X... If anybody already did that or have an idea... • How do I do advanced searches in Mac OS X?

  I don't get it. I just want to do simple searches that work. When I type part of a filename, I want to see all the files that have that part of the filename. I know how to do this in terminal, but it takes time to open and then to track down the file once it finds it. Is there a way to do this from the Finder? I want to be able to do *.doc and get all my docs, or hello*.txt and find all filenames of that form. Am I missing something obvious? Bonus points if you can tell me how to do boolean searches from the Finder (filename:hello*.txt AND modified:4days) or something. OSX Snow Leopard. Thanks!

• Unable to install Xdebug

  I've registered xdebug in php.ini (as per http://xdebug.org/docs/install) but it's not showing up when i run "php -m" or when i get a test page to run "phpinfo()". I've just installed the latest version of XAMPP. Can anyone provide any suggestions in getting xdebug to show up? I've followed the exact instructions in ":help matchit", but % still doesn't work for me. It seems silly to ask "Why doesn't this work?" so instead I'm asking How can I diagnose the problem?   Hello, I am still having trouble with my mysql server. It seems that since i optimize it, the tables were growing and now sometimes is very slow again. I have no idea of how to optimize more. mySQL server has 48GB of RAM and mysqld is using about 8, most of the tables are innoDB. Site has about 2000 users online. It uses PHP to upload the files and sends back a status message which gets displayed in a status box to the user. Now I have run into a situation where I need the HTML to pass a parameter to the Actionscript, and then to the PHP file using POST.   Hi, I'm trying to parse the HTML presented below with TouchXML but it keeps crashing when I try to extract certain attributes. I'm totally new to the parser world so I apologize for being a complete idiot. I need help to parse this HTML. What I'm trying to accomplish is to parse each attribute and value or what not and copy them to a string. I've been trying to find a good parser to parse HTML and I believe TouchXML is the best I've seen because of Tidy. Speaking of Tidy, How could I run this HTML through Tidy first then parse it? • Problem using easy_install on Windows 7, 64 bit. (cannot find python.exe)

  Hi, I have just now installed Python 2.6 on my Windows 7 (64 bit) Lenovo t61p laptop. I have downloaded Sphinx and nose and apparently installed them correctly using python setup.py install (at least no errors were reported during the installation). Now I am trying to install pymongo using easy_install but I am not having much success. It seems that easy_install isn't working at all. I execute easy_install as administrator: C:\>easy_install Cannot find Python executable C:\Program Files\Python26\python.exe The path C:\Program Files\Python26\python.exe is correct. I have found this bug report on bugs.python.org which seems to be related, although its status is 'Resolved'. Do you have any ideas as to what may be wrong? Any pointers, hints or tips for diagnosing the problem further would be greatly appreciated. • Very Strange behavior in custom dataGrid

  Hi everybody, I asked this question already in a former post, but nobody could answer this question correctly. So I try to post the problem again, to make sure it's not a bug. I have a dataGrid with a custom itemRenderer. Everytime I tab at least two times on the dataGrid, the cell below the one I taped gets selected. This doesn't happen if I uncomment the code in the method saveBackDataGridContent()! The second problem is that if the Line is shorter than the entered text, a horizontalScrollBar will get active, although I set setStyle("horizontalScrollPolicy", "off");... Who can solve that one? • Muti-Schema Privileges for a Table Trigger in an Oracle Database

  I'm trying to write a table trigger which queries another table that is outside the schema where the trigger will reside. Is this possible? It seems like I have no problem querying tables in my schema but I get: Error: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist when trying trying to query tables outside my schema. EDIT My apologies for not providing as much information as possible the first time around. I was under the impression this question was more simple. I'm trying create a trigger on a table that changes some fields on a newly inserted row based on the existence of some data that may or may not be in a table that is in another schema. The user account that I'm using to create the trigger does have the permissions to run the queries independently. In fact, I've had my trigger print the query I'm trying to run and was able to run it on it's own successfully. I should also note that I'm building the query dynamically by using the EXECUTE IMMEDIATE statement. The account I'm using (ME) is given privileges to the involved tables via the schema users themselves. For example (USER_TAB_PRIVS): GRANTOR GRANTEE TABLE_SCHEMA TABLE_NAME PRIVILEGE GRANTABLE HIERARCHY MAIN_SCHEMA ME MAIN_SCHEMA EVENTS DELETE NO NO MAIN_SCHEMA ME MAIN_SCHEMA EVENTS INSERT NO NO MAIN_SCHEMA ME MAIN_SCHEMA EVENTS SELECT NO NO MAIN_SCHEMA ME MAIN_SCHEMA EVENTS UPDATE NO NO OTHER_SCHEMA_X ME OTHER_SCHEMA_X TARGET_TBL SELECT NO NO And I have the following system privileges (USER_SYS_PRIVS): USERNAME PRIVILEGE ADMIN_OPTION ME ALTER ANY TRIGGER NO ME CREATE ANY TRIGGER NO ME UNLIMITED TABLESPACE NO And this is what I found in the Oracle documentation: To create a trigger in another user's schema, or to reference a table in another schema from a trigger in your schema, you must have the CREATE ANY TRIGGER system privilege. With this privilege, the trigger can be created in any schema and can be associated with any user's table. In addition, the user creating the trigger must also have EXECUTE privilege on the referenced procedures, functions, or packages. Here: Oracle Doc So it looks to me like this should work, but I'm not sure about the "EXECUTE privilege" it's referring to in the doc.

  I am using Ubuntu 10.10 (Linux pc07 2.6.35-27-generic #48-Ubuntu SMP Tue Feb 22 20:25:46 UTC 2011 x86_64 GNU/Linux) and the default python package (Python 2.6.6). I would like to install python-psyco to improve the performance of one of my scripts, but only python-psyco-doc is available for 64 bit. I tried a virtual machine, but the the performance boost is much less on the virtual machine than on a "real" installed 32-bit Ubuntu. • Html Agility Pack for Reading “Real World” HTML

  In an ideal world, all data you need from the web would be available via well-designed services. In the real world you sometimes have to scrape the data off a web page. Ugly, dirty – but if you really want that data, you have no choice. Just don’t write (yet another) HTML parser. I stumbled across the Html Agility Pack (HAP) a long time ago, but just now had the need for a robust way to read HTML. A quote from the website: This is an agile HTML parser that builds a read/write DOM and supports plain XPATH or XSLT (you actually don't HAVE to understand XPATH nor XSLT to use it, don't worry...). It is a .NET code library that allows you to parse "out of the web" HTML files. The parser is very tolerant with "real world" malformed HTML. The object model is very similar to what proposes System.Xml, but for HTML documents (or streams). Using the HAP was a simple matter of getting the Nuget package, taking a look at the example and dusting off some of my XPath knowledge from years ago. The documentation on the Codeplex site is non-existing, but if you’ve queried a DOM or used XPath or XSLT before you shouldn’t have problems finding your way around using Intellisense (ReSharper tip: Press Ctrl+Shift+F1 on class members for reading the full doc comments).

  I'm trying to get my java program to talk to a MySQL DB. So i did some reading and downloaded MySQL Connector/J. I've extracted it into my home directory ~. When I manually launch the script it asks for sudo password so I thought it was because of modprobe and insmod commands and I've added those commands to sudo visudo. Nothing. What am I doing wrong?

• BIP Debugging to a file

  If you use the standalone server or with OBIEE and use OC4J as the web server. Have you ever taken a looksee at the console window (doc/xterm) that you use to start it. Ever turned on debugging to see masses of info flow by that window and want to capture it all? I have been debugging today and watched all that info fly by and on Windoze gets lost before you can see it! The BIP developers use the System.out.println() and System.err.println()methods in the BIP applications to generate debugging formation. Normally the output from these method calls go to the console where the OC4J process is started. However you can specify command line options when starting OC4J to direct the stdout and stderr output directly to files. The ?out and ?err parameters tell OC4J which file to direct the output to. All you need do is modify the oc4j.cmd file used to start BIP. I didnt get fancy and just plugged in the following to the file under the start section. I just modified the line: set CMDARGS=-config "%SERVER_XML%" -userThreads to set CMDARGS=-config "%SERVER_XML%" -out D:\BI\OracleBI\oc4j_bi\j2ee\home\log\oc4j.out -err D:\BI\OracleBI\oc4j_bi\j2ee\home\log\oc4j.err -userThreads Bounced the server and I now have a ballooning pair of debug files that I can pour over to my hearts content. The .out file appears to contain BIP only log info and the .err file, OBIEE messages. If you are using another web server to host BIP, just check out the user docs to find out how to get the log files to write. Note to self, remember to turn off the debug when Im done!

I can see any number of ways you might stumble onto an alert that you need. For example, if you are visiting My Oracle Support in search of answers under the Knowledge tab and happen to notice, and click on, the Alert tab the under the Knowledge Article region, you might see an alert listed for one of the products you use. There are other ways… like subscribing to one of the Oracle Blogs and finding the alert in your RSS feed because the blogger decided to write up that topic for the latest post. I’m sure your colleagues sometimes pass on critical alerts for your products, I hope, giving you the information before you needed it. Well, no matter how you learn about an alert, the important point is that you get the correct information in a timely way. Right? I must admit, the ‘magic’ required to find out via these methods makes me nervous. Rather than leave it to chance, I think you need a more reliable way to stay informed and receive alerts for your products when Oracle publishes them.
