Authenticated user cannot log in, "The user does not exist or is not unique."

This is a weird one. I have a WSS3 site, no MOSS, with a custom membership and role provider that authenticates against CRM. All the users have also been added to the site user list so once logged in they have correct display names. On dev and stage everything works fine, but on UAT the users can't get past the login screen. The login screen is working, in that if you type an incorrect password for a user it comes back with the right message, meaning the custom provider is working fine. If you fill the login form in correctly you are immediately redirected straight back to the login screen, with the IIS logs showing that the login screen sent the authenticated user to the site and then was sent back. Setting the site to allow anonymous access shows that the user is not logged in on the site side after authenticating correctly. The ULS logs show: The user does not exist or is not unique. Found 1 trusted forests nzct.local. Found 0 trusted domains Adding logging code to the site I have verified that the membership provider is correctly set, and can find the user when asked. Also, when accessing the site user list, I can find the SP user with the right name. It just refuses to set the current user to be the authenticated user. Weird.

Moq, a translator and an expression

I'm working with an expression within a moq-ed "Get Service" and ran into a rather annoying issue. In order to get this test to run correctly and the get service to return what it should, there's a translator in between that takes what you've asked for, sends it off and gets what you -really- want. Controlling the order of PicoContainer startup

I have been tasked with doing some refactoring work on how we start up applications. Basically we have a bunch of console apps which were depending on the GUI application startup code, causing bogus dependencies which have kick-on effects for which libraries we need to ship, and which dependencies other modules need to declare. So I have written a simple startup framework where I basically just throw a bunch of Runnable objects into a list and then run them in order - and it works. But I was thinking - we already have PicoContainer in our project, so all these things that need to be run on startup could potentially be thrown into a PicoContainer, and if they implement Startable they will start... But in some cases we want to specify the ordering between them. For example, I don't want any other component writing to the log before we write a header into the log indicating that the application is starting up. I know I can introduce ordering by introducing injection dependencies, but this feels like a hack in this case - I would need to add the log header writer as a dependency for every other component which might write to the log, which isn't great at all. Nonetheless it seems like it would be nice to control the order of PicoContainer startup, so is there perhaps some other way? Alternatively I could just keep it simple and stick to my list of Runnable. It does, after all, work.

IComparable not included when serializing in WCF

How to read a string one letter at a time in python

I need to convert a string inputed by a user into morse code. The way our professor wants us to do this is to read from a morseCode.txt file, seperate the letters from the morseCode into two lists, then convert each letter to morse code (inserting a new line when there is a space). I have the beginning. What it does is reads the morseCode.txt file and seperates the letters into a list [A, B, ... Z] and the codes into a list ['– – . . – –\n', '. – . – . –\n'...]. We haven't learned "sets" yet, so I can't use that. How would I then take the string that they inputed, go through letter by letter, and convert it to morse code? I'm a bit caught up. Returned JSON from Twitter and displaying tweets using FlexSlider

After sending a request to the Twitter API using geocode, I'm getting back a json response with a list of tweets. I then that into a php array using json_decode() and use a foreach loop to output what I need. I'm using flex slider to show the tweets in a vertical fashion after wrapping them in a list. So what I want is for it to only show 10 tweets at a time and scroll through them infinitely like an escalator. Compressing xls content with apache deflate module

I am trying to compress an excel spreadsheet being sent from my application using apache deflate module. I have added the following line to the my sites-enabled file: AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE text/html text/plain text/xml text/css text/javascript application/excel But is seems to make the response data bigger??? Using firebug, without the module I downloaded the xls spreadsheet from the application and it downloaded 100Kb of data, the file size once on the filesystem was also 100Kb as expected. Once I enabled the deflate module as described above and repeated the process, the amount of data downloaded was 295Kb?? but the file was still only 100Kb once save on the filesystem. As an experiment I manually gzipped the saved xls file and it compressed to 20Kb. What am I doing wrong here? Algorithm To Select Most Popular Places from Database

We have a website that contains a database of places. For each place our users are able to take one of the follow actions which we record: VIEW - View it's profile RATING - Rate it on a scale of 1-5 stars REVIEW - Review it COMPLETED - Mark that they've been there WISH LIST - Mark that they want to go there FAVORITE - Mark that it's one of their favorites In our database table of places each place contains a count of the number of times each action above was taken as well as the average rating given by users. views ratings avg_rating completed wishlist favorite What we want to be able to do is generate lists of the top places using the above information. Ideally, we would want to be able to generate this list using a relatively simple SQL query without needing to do any legwork to calculate additional fields or stack rank places against one another. That being said, since we only have about 50,000 places we could run a nightly cron job to calculate some fields such as rankings on different categories if it would make a meaningful difference in the overall results of our top places. I'd appreciate if you could make some suggestions on how we should think about bubbling the best places to the top, which criteria we should weight more heavily, and given that information - suggest what the MySQL query would need to look like in order to select the top 10 places. One thing to note is that at this time we are less concerned with the recency of a place being popular - meaning that looking at the aggregate information is fine and that more recent data doesn't need to be weighted more heavily. jquery Append Issue

In my xml i go 2 no. of "listgroup" and jquery print propelry. but within the earch "listgroup", first group contain 6 points and second group contain 6 point. these 2 section has to print separately to 'ul' element. Hi! I'm using a nested set in a MySQL table to describe a hierarchy of categories, and an additional table describing products. Category table; id name left right Products table; id categoryId name How can I retrieve the full path, containing all parent categories, of a product? I.e.: RootCategory > SubCategory 1 > SubCategory 2 > ... > SubCategory n > Product Say for example that I want to list all products from SubCategory1 and it's sub categories, and with each given Product I want the full tree path to that product - is this possible? How to do a javascript redirection to a ClickOnce deployment URL?

I have a ClickOnce application used to view some documents on a website. When connected, the user sees a list of documents as links to http://server/myapp.application?document=docname. It worked fine until I had to integrate the website authentication/security system into my application. The website uses a ticketing system to grant access to its users. A ticket is generated by a web application and needs to be added to the deployment URL querystring, then I have to check at application startup that the ticket given in querystring was right by making another request to the web application. So the deployment URL becomes something like: h ttp://server/myapp.application?document=docname&ticket=ticketnumber. The problem is the ticket is valid only 10 seconds, so I have to get it only after the user has clicked a link. My first try was to have some javascript do the request to get the ticket, generate the proper deployment URL and then redirect the user to this URL with "window.location = deploymentUrl;". It works fine in Firefox, but IE does not prompt the user for installation. I guess it is a ClickOnce security constraints, but I am able to do the redirection when doing it on localhost, so I hope there is a workaround. I have also added the server on the "trusted sites" list in IE options. Is it possible to have that working in IE? What are my other options to do that?

Including strings, arrays, linked lists I suspect that the solution must use generics as the algorithm is working on a list of instances of T (there T is ... something). Version of C# isn't of interest, I guess the solution will be nicer if features from C# version 2.0 is used.

Visual Studio: How to attach a debugger dynamically to a specific process

I am building an internal dev tool to manage different processes commonly used in our development environment. The tool show the list the monitored processes, indicate their running state and allow to start or stop each process. I'd like to add the functionality of attaching a debugger to a monitored process from my tool instead of going in 'Debug-Attach to process' in visual studio and finding the process. My goal is to have something like Debugger.Launch() that would show a list of the available visual studio. I can't use Debugger.Launch() because it lauches the debugger on the process that make the call. I would need something like Debugger.Launch(processId). Does anyone know how to acheive this functionality? A solution could be to implement a command in each monitored process to call Debugger.Launch() when the command is received from the monitoring tool, but I would prefer something that does not require to modify the code of the monitored processes. Side question: When using Debugger.Launch(), instances of Visual Studio that already have a debugger attached are not listed. Visual Studio is not limited to one attached debugger, you can attach on multiple process when using 'Debug - Attach to process'. Anyone know how to bypass this limitation when using Debugger.Launch() or an alternative?

ASP.NET MVC - Binding a Child Entity to the Model

This one seems painfully obvious to me, but for some reason I can't get it working the way I want it to. Perhaps it isn't possible the way I am doing it, but that seems unlikely. This question may be somewhat related: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1274855/asp-net-mvc-model-binding-related-entities-on-same-page. I have an EditorTemplate to edit an entity with multiple related entity references. When the editor is rendered the user is given a drop down list to select related entities from, with the drop down list returning an ID as its value. <%=Html.DropDownListFor(m => m.Entity.ID)%> When the request is sent the form value is named as expected: "Entity.ID", however my strongly typed Model defined as an action parameter doesn't have Entity.ID populated with the value passed in the request. public ActionResult AddEntity(EntityWithChildEntities entityWithChildEntities) { } I tried fiddling around with the Bind() attribute and specified Bind(Include = "Entity.ID") on the entityWithChildEntities, but that doesn't seem to work. I also tried Bind(Include = "Entity"), but that resulted in the ModelBinder attempting to bind a full "Entity" definition (not surprisingly). Is there any way to get the default model binder to fill the child entity ID or will I need to add action parameters for each child entity's ID and then manually copy the values into the model definition?

Link click does nothing after ajax switching?

An odd case I'm trying to figure out here. I'm trying to design a mailbox system, and making some of the options ajax-y. Here's the scenario: We have a page with 2 tabs, inbox and compose. Inbox is a essentially a list of links of the form mailbox.php?msg=xxx. Clicking on the inbox or compose tabs does an ajax switch. So, let's say we're on an message page: mailbox.php?msg=123 I click on "compose" - it ajax switches to a compose form. I change my mind, click on "inbox" - it goes back to a list of messages. Note, the url has not changed at this point (all has been done through ajax). I click on the same message as before. It should go back into that message. However, nothing happens! The url it should go to (mailbox.php?msg=123) IS the url showing in the address bar, but, due to the earlier ajax activity, it's showing the inbox. Thoughts on how to resolve this? And, out of curiosity, an explanation? Normally, clicking on a link that takes you to a page you're already on will reload the page. Thanks!

how can I speed up insertion of many rows to a table via ADO.NET?

I have a table that has 5 columns: AcctId (int), Address1 (varchar), Address2 (varchar), Person1 (varchar), Person2 (varchar) . I'm generating random data to insert into this table via a C# console application. I've tried doing this random data insert via SQL-Server and decided it was not a good solution -- SQL is not good at random on an each-row basis. Generating the random data -- 975k rows of it -- takes a minimal amount of time. It's in a List of custom objects. I need to take this random data and update many rows in the database with the new random data. I tried updating the rows one at a time, very slow because of the repeated searching of the List object in code. So I think the best approach is to put all the randomized data into a table in the database, then update all the other tables that use this data. I.e. UPDATE t SET t.Address1=d.Address1 FROM Table1 t INNER JOIN RandomizedData d ON d.AcctId = t.Acct_ID. The database is very un-normalized so this Acct data is sprinkled all over the place. I've got no control of the normalization. So, having decided to insert all of the randomized data into a single table, I set out to create insert scripts: USE TheDatabase Insert tmp_RandomizedData SELECT 1,'4392 EIGHTH AVE','','JENNIFER CARTER','BARBARA CARTER' UNION ALL SELECT 2,'2168 MAIN ST','HNGR F','DANIEL HERNANDEZ','SUSAN MARTIN' // etc another 98 times... // FYI, this is not real data! I'm building this INSERT script in batches of 100. It's taking on average 175 ms to run each insert. Does this seem like a long time? It's going to take about 35 mins to run the whole insert. The table doesn't have a primary key or any indexes. I was planning on adding those after all the data in inserted (thinking that that would be faster). Is there a better way to do this?

Address is embedded in another class Person. When i save an instance of Person, hibernate create 3 tables: PERSON, MUNICIPALITY and MUNICIPALITY_ADDRESSLIST. MUNICIPALITY_ADDRESSLIST contains 2 fields: MUNICIPALITY_ID (FK) and STREET. I don't want this table, i only want the ID of table MUNICIPALITY into table PERSON(that embeds Address), what should i do? I tried to add @JoinTable in Municipality entity like this: @CollectionOfElements @JoinTable(name="person") private List<Address> addressList; It partially worked, but i cant choose the column name of table PERSON that contains ID of the table MUNICIPALITY, it is, by hibernate choose, simply "MUNICIPALITY_ID"... I have a WCF service I use to submit bugs for my project. Snippet of the data class: Private _exception As Exception <DataMember()> _ Public Property Exception As Exception Get Return _exception End Get Set(ByVal value As Exception) _exception = value End Set End Property I have a Silverlight app that uses the WCF service to send any bugs home if and when they occur. This is the error I'm testing with: Dim i As Integer = 5 i = i / 0 The problem is SL is banging on with this message: System.ServiceModel.CommunicationException was unhandled by user code Message=There was an error while trying to serialize parameter :bug. The InnerException message was 'Type 'System.OverflowException' with data contract name 'OverflowException:http://schemas.datacontract.org/2004/07/System' is not expected. Add any types not known statically to the list of known types - for example, by using the KnownTypeAttribute attribute or by adding them to the list of known types passed to DataContractSerializer.'. Please see InnerException for more details. Is there some trick to get a generic .NET Exception (any InnerException) to serialize properly? I'm not doing anything funky with the exception - it's just a plain 'ol exception Thanks for any help.

I've posted this before, but I worded it poorly. I'm trying again with a more well thought out structure. Re-writing this a bit to make it more clear. I have the following code and I am trying to figure out the shorter linq expression to do it 'inline'. Please examine the "Run()" method near the bottom. I am attempting to understand how to join two dictionaries together based on a matching identifier in one of the objects - so that I can use the query in this sort of syntax. var selected = from a in items.List() // etc. etc. select a; This is my class structure. The Run() method is what I am trying to simplify. Get information form WebPage.

I want to set up an app which can get the information from a particular web page. Then i display the value which got from that page to the iPhone user. Detail:In the webpage on server ,there is the schedule for bus time. If the user input origin and terminus then show the user the time information(list on webpage) in a label. That's all. What i have finished is : Open the iphone app, input two value(origin and terminus) to UITextField. Send the URL to server. Get the page, and show in UIWebView. What my problem next is how should i get the information form that page into another two labels to give the user about the bus time. I have store data in my Array receiveData: self.receivedData = data; I am not clear the data i received is XML or what? And how should i pick-up the value i want. (should i save the value to property list and the read the value?) Thank you so much!
