  • "Executing SQL directly; no cursor" error when using SCOPE_IDENTITY/IDENT_CURRENT

    There wasn't much on google about this error, so I'm askin here. I'm switching a PHP web application from using MySQL to SQL Server 2008 (using ODBC, not php_mssql). Running queries or anything else isn't a problem, but when I try to do scope_identity (or any similar functions), I get the error "Executing SQL directly; no cursor". I'm doing this immediately after an insert, so it should still be in scope. Running the same insert statement then query for the insert ID works fine in SQL Server Management Studio. Here's my code right now (everything else in the database wrapper class works fine for other queries, so I'll assume it isn't relevant right now): function insert_id(){ return $this->query_first("SELECT SCOPE_IDENTITY() as insert_id"); } query_first being a function that returns the first result from the first field of a query (basically the equivalent of execute_scalar() on .net).   • Error: Expected specifier-qualifier-list before ... in XCode Core Data

    Hi guys, I keep on getting this error "error: expected specifier-qualifier-list for core data code im working with, in the app delegate. Now when i get this error and about 40 other errors relating to managedobjectcontext etc, i thought maybe the library needs to be imported. Now i havent done this before, but i went to Frameworks group and add existing frameworks and it added CoreData.framework. I re-build and it still came up with the error. Do I need to import anything in the headers explicitly or is there some other step i need to do? Thanks

  • Finally, I have my HP 6910p laptop running with 8Gb RAM

    Today, I received two Corsair Value Select 4Gb DDR SO-DIMMs (from overclock.co.uk) for my aging HP 6910p to give it the extra lease of life to keep it going until the end of 2010.  And here is the proof that Windows 7 64-bit happily sees all 8Gb, There are no 4Gb modules are officially supported for the HP 6910p (they didn’t exist when it was first build).  I was taking a bit of a gamble, and relying on the UK distance selling regulations which meant that even if they didn’t work I’d be able to send them back, getting a full refund and only paying for the return postage. I’d read Keith Comb’s blog back in 2008, (http://blogs.technet.com/b/keithcombs/archive/2008/07/05/loading-a-hp-6910p-with-8gb-of-ram.aspx) where he mentioned ‘trying’ out 4Gb samples of SO-DIMMs in a HP 6910p laptop, but there still appears to be no mentions of running this configuration in any other blog. Seeing how the 8Gb of memory is used is made easier with the new Resource Monitor available in Windows 7.  With two copies of Visual Studio 2008, Outlook, Firefox (with 30+ tabs), TweetDeck (an infamous memory hog) and VMWare workstation running a virtual machine allocated with 2Gb of memory, you might have no ‘free’ memory remaining, but the standby memory is an awesome 2.4Gb, and once the VM is up and running the Hard Faults/sec hovers around zero,   It’s the page fault figure which really counts, because reducing that value means that you are preventing the Windows 7 system drive from being used for virtual memory paging operations.  Even after only a few hours of use it’s noticeable that disc access has been reduced and applications feel more responsive and ‘snappy’.  I did consider the option of purchasing an SSD to replace the main drive, rather than go for 8Gb of RAM, but I think I’ve probably made the correct decision. Given my hobby topic of virtualisation, I take the view that you can never have too much memory.   It was also a decision made easier by the price differential between 8Gb of RAM compared to a decent size SSD.  In the 18 months since Keith Comb tested the first 4Gb SO-DIMMS they have plummeted in price, at just under £100 per 4Gb, they are around a fifth of the price when launched. So if you ever wondered if a HP 6910p can handle 8Gb, now you know.

    hello, i get this error when i retrieve an XML that only has 1 node (no repeating nodes) and i try to store in an ArrayCollection. -When I have MORE than 1 "name" nodes...i do NOT get an error. TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert "XXXXXX" to mx.collections.ArrayCollection. this error occurs as the line of code: myList= e.result.list.name; Why can't ArrayCollection work with a single node? I'm using this ArrayCollection as a dataprovider for a Component -is there an alternative I can use that will take BOTH single and repeating nodes as well as work as a dataprovider?     Hi all. I've written in PHP a script that takes a long time to execute [Image processing for thousands of pictures]. It's a meter of hours - maybe 5. After 15 minutes of processing, I get the error: ERROR The requested URL could not be retrieved The following error was encountered while trying to retrieve the URL: The URL which I clicked Read Timeout The system returned: [No Error] A Timeout occurred while waiting to read data from the network. The network or server may be down or congested. Please retry your request. Your cache administrator is webmaster. What I need is to enable that script to run for much longer. Now, here are all the technical info: I'm writing in PHP and using the Zend Framework. I'm using Firefox. The long script that is processed is done after clicking a link. Obviously, since the script is not over I see the web page on which the link was and the web browser writes "waiting for ...". After 15 minutes the error occurs. I tried to make changes to Firefox threw about:config but without any success. I don't know, but the changes might be needed somewhere else. So, any ideas? Thanks ahead.

  • Getting XML parse error in coldfusion. Can the packet returned be validated?

    Getting an error on occasion on a specific CF page. Offending code listed below. Very odd because when I rebooted CF it went away. Can the XML be checked via XMLValidate to prevent this from happening? Is this some sort of CF bug since the error disappeared after reboot of CF? I have a feeling that the error will resurface at some point. An error occured while Parsing an XML document.   • what is this internet explorer (javascript?) syntax error -2146827286?

    Hi everyone, So, I've been trying to troubleshoot this bug where some big percentage of windows users who are on my ajax (jquery) web app are not able to play. I haven't been able to reproduce it on my end with a windows 7 IE8 running in a parallels vm. The main problem seems to be in the javascript somewhere because what users are complaining about is an ajax button isn't working. They click it and nothing happens, so either the event isn't firing, or my ajax call is failing, and possibly the return from the ajax could be failing. After trying some ideas, a friend suggested I check out damnit! https://damnit.jupiterit.com/ which will catch exceptions in javascript and email them to you. This is a pretty awesome tool! So, now i have a little more data, but, am stuck. Basically it seems like the majority of the exceptions seem to be complaining about a syntax error. I will paste the samples below. message: Syntax error number: -2146827286 description: Syntax error Browser: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.4506.2152; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; InfoPath.2; .NET CLR 1.0.3705; OfficeLiveConnector.1.3; OfficeLivePatch.0.0) What's interesting is that the syntax error is consistently occurring in browsers reporting MSIE 8.0 but with windows vista, xp, and below, so older OS with the latest IE. Does anyone know of this error? Could this possibly be some weird slow computer/slow internet connection thing where may be my javascript files aren't fully loaded before I call the functions. I am using the jquery $(document).ready() to wait before I setup anything.

    This error occurred on our TFS2008 build server which we had upgraded to cater for VS2010 projects (by installing VS2010 on the build server - see this article). Error MSB4019: The imported project "C:\Program Files\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v10.0\WebApplications\Microsoft.WebApplication.targets" was not found. Confirm that the path in the <Import> declaration is correct, and that the file exists on disk. However - although we had installed VS2010 on the build server - we had not installed the web development components (Visual Web Developer) - this is what caused the error. To fix - simply add the web development components: Go into Control Panel - Add or Remove Programs Select Microsoft Visual Studio 2010, and click on Change/Remove In the VS Maintenance Mode screens, select Add or Remove Features In the Setup - Options page make sure 'Visual Web Developer' is checked. Click on Update.   You shouldn't need to restart your build service. HTH Tim

  • How to figure out what error my Java Eclipse project has?

    I've created a Java project from existing source with an Ant build script in Eclipse. I cannot run my project because Eclipse tells me that there is at least one error in it. Now, I know that the project runs fine on the command line, so I suspect an Eclipse configuration error. As far as I can tell, the only feedback that I have from Eclipse is a little red X on my project in the Package Explorer window and dialog window when I try to run the project says there are errors in the project This is all wonderful, but what is the error? Is there a "show me the next error" button somewhere? In the past, on other Eclipse projects, I've notice other little red X's on folders containing source files with errors, the little red X's appear on the source files as well. I scanned (manually) through all of the source files and I haven't found any other red X's (again, where is the "next error" button?). If I select the "Proceed" button I am greeted with a java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError for my main class, which makes me suspect a classpath issue. I've checked the classpath, and I'm fairly certain that it's correct. Is there a way to see the exact jvm command line that Eclipse is invoking? I realize that it might be invoking the JVM programmatically, and not on a "real" command line. In any case, is there a way, other than the run configuration dialog, to see what is actually happening when I hit the "Proceed" button?

    I'm using MS Visual Studio 2008, OpenCV, C++ and SVM for a OCR-related project. At least I can run the code until yesterday, when I open the project to continue working, VS reported this error: error C2664: 'bool CvSVM::train(const CvMat *,const CvMat *,const CvMat *,const CvMat *,CvSVMParams)' : cannot convert parameter 1 from 'cv::Mat' to 'const CvMat *' It didn't happen before and I haven't changed any code relating to it (I only changed the parameters for the kernel). The code got error is: Mat curTrainData, curTrainLabel; CvSVM svm; . . . svm.train(curTrainData, curTrainLabel, Mat(), Mat(), params); If I hover on the code, I still got this tip: image. Which means my syntax isn't wrong. So why do VS bother to report such an error?

  • Can I get any logging and error output from Flash?

    To further provide better information for my other question about browsers and Pulse audio, I wanted to see if I could get some kind of helpful log information. I've looked at logs from both Pulseaudio and Firefox, but don't see anything like an error in either of them. The problem I'm experiencing may be coming from Flash. Is there a way I can trap specifically any log output from Flash? Update: I've downloaded the Linux Flash Player 10.3 Plugin content debugger, and I've installed libflashplayer.so in ~/.mozilla/firefox/plugins/, and copied the user/* files to /user. I've also set up mm.cfg to say: ErrorReportingEnable=1 TraceOutputFileEnable=1 MaxWarnings=50 TraceOutputFileName=/home/dave/.macromedia/Flash_Player/Logs/flashlog.txt And I rebooted just to be sure everything was starting fresh. However, after playing a Flash video from Youtube, flashlog.txt is not being generated. How can I be sure that logging is in fact enabled, so I can tell whether I'm simply not getting errors or I haven't set up logging correctly?

    This is an "is this okay, or can it be done better" question. Topic: Storing typed objects in memory. Background information: I'm building a compiler for the x86-32 platform for my language. My goal includes typed objects. Idea: Every primitive is a semi-class (it can be used as if it was a normal class, but it's stored more compact). Every class is represented by primitives and some meta-data (containing class-properties, inheritance stuff, etc.). The meta-data is complex: it doesn't use fields but instead context-switches. For primitives, the meta-data is very small, compared to a "real" class, which is alot bigger. This enables another idea that "primitives are objects", in my language, which I found nessecairy. Example: If I have an array of 32 booleans, then the pure content of this array is exactly 4 byte (32 bits of booleans). The meta-data will contain flags that the type is an array of booleans, which contains 32 entries. The meta-data is very compacted, on bit-level: using a sort of "packing" mechanism, which is read by a FSM at runtime, when doing inspection of the type (like when passing the object to methods for checking, etc.) For instance (read from left to right, top to bottom, remember vertical possition when going to the right, and check nearest column header for meaning of switch): Primitive? Array? Type-Meta 1 Byte? || Size (1 byte) 1 1 [...] 1 [...] done 0 2 Bytes? || Size (2 bytes) 1 [...] done || Size (4 bytes) 0 [...] done Integer? 1 Byte? 2 Bytes? 0 1 0 1 done 1 done 0 done Boolean?     During a remote SharePoint training session this morning, Live Meeting presented one of our instructors with the following gem:  "An attendee email address is malformed".  This was particularly troubling since a wizard took care of adding all the entries, and they looked correct (even after being sifted through my character analysis tool).As it turns out, the addresses were indeed correct.  As sometimes happens, though, at the line breaks, it looked like there was no space between the semicolon and the following email address.  Since I'm a member in good standing of the "I wonder what this button does" school of thought, I added an extra space after each of these cramped little semicolons -- and the invitation executed flawlessly.Coincidence?  Maybe... but you can bet I'm going to keep trying dumb stuff like that when the error message doesn't make sense.  Think of it as the tech support equivalent of "Ask a silly question..."
