  • What is the starting point for Ubuntu app development? [closed]

    I'm thinking of developing software for Ubuntu and other related Linux-based distros (like Linux Mint). But currently am at a loss for where to start. Would learning Python be enough/good? And what are the other things I should know about before starting this kind of developing? And will I be able to publish my apps to a software store like Ubuntu store even if I am from outside USA/UK? If not, what are the options I have to make my apps reach the audience? As a lot of users had asked, I intend to build applications only for Linux (I'm thinking of Gnome) that will be a bit business and enterprise oriented. Currently I am an Oracle certified Java developer in J2SE and J2ME. And I know Python a bit.

  • ffmpeg - How to determine if -movflags faststart is enabled? PHP

    While I am able to encode an mp4 file which I can plan on my local windows machine, I am having trouble encoding files to mp4 which are readable when streaming by safari, etc. After a bit of reading, I believe my issue is that I must move the metadata from the end of the file to the beginning in order for the converted mp4 files to be streamable. To that end, I am trying to find out if the build of ffmpeg that I am currently using is able to use the -movflags faststart option through php - as my current outputted mp4 files are not working when streamed online. This is the way I am now echoing the -help, -formats, -codecs, but I am not seeing anything about -movflags faststart in any of the lists: exec($ffmpegPath." -help", $codecArr); for($ii=0;$ii<count($codecArr);$ii++){ echo $codecArr[$ii].'</br>'; } Is there a similar method of determining if -movflags fastart is available to my ffmpeg build? The following line of code looks in column E of the Source file, and if any of the entries match the values shown in the code it copies that row of data to paste into the Destination file. If Range("E" & j) <> "Manager" And Range("E" & j) <> "Lead" And Range("E" & j) <> "Technical" And Range("E" & j) <> "Analyst" Then Rows(j).Delete The problem I have is that if none of these values are found in the Source file, I receive the following error: Run time error '1004': Delete method of range class failed and in Debug mode it highlights this part of the line as the source of the error, but I've no idea why. Rows(j).Delete I just wondered whether someone may be able to look at this please and let me know where I'm going wrong, or perhaps even suggest a more efficient process of allowing the user to merge the workbooks.   • How to publish an ASP.NET MVC application to a free host

    Hi, I'm using a free web host (0000free) which supports ASP.NET MVC, but it uses Mono. This is the first time I deploy an MVC application, so I'm a little confused as to where I need to deploy it. I have Visual Studio 2010 and I used its Publish Feature (i.e. right click on the project name and click publish) and I tried several things: Publish method: FTP to the root folder. Publish method: FTP to the publich_html folder. Publish method: File System to the root folder. Publish method: File System to the publich_html folder. Publish method: File System to a local directory on my computer and then FTP to root and also tried the public_html folder. I went into the cPanel (control panel) to try and see if ASP.NET has to be added/enabled for my web site, but I didn't see anything there. I can't browse to Index.aspx nor can I redirect to it from index.html (as suggested from other posts on the host forum), right now I have a link from index.html to Index.aspx but it's not working either (see http://www.mydevarmy.com) I've also tried renaming Index.aspx to Default.aspx, but that doesn't work either.   • FFMPEG dropping frames while encoding JPEG sequence at color change

    I'm trying to put together a slide show using imagemagick and FFMPEG. I use imagemagick to expand a single photo into 30fps video (imagemagick also handles things like putting some text captions on the frames along the way). When I go to let ffmpeg digest it into a video it clips along nicely on the color parts of the video, but when it gets to a black and white section it reports "frame= 2030 fps=102 q=32766.0 Lsize= 5203kB time=00:01:07.60 bitrate= 630.5kbits/s dup=0 drop=703" and drops every frame of video until it hits something with color. As you can imagine this results in entire photos being removed from the slideshow.     Hello, We are getting this error "java.sql.SQLException: OALL8 is in an inconsistent state " when executing our web app on weblogic 9. The jdk used is 1.5 and database is Oracle10.2g We have switched out oracle drivers ojdbc14.jar with ojdbc5.jar. We have also added orai18n.jar. We have ensured that this change of jar occurs with the web app library as well as other weblogic server classpaths where ojdbc14.jar existed. Infrequent pre-processing is allowed (see possibilities section) Would be nice not to have to load the file each query (131Kb) Uses under 5 megabytes of disk space File Details One IP address per line 9500+ lines Possible Solutions Create a directory hierarchy (radix tree?) then use is_dir() (sadly, this uses 87 megabytes)

    I have a fairly simple requirement -I have a table with the following (relevant) structure. with cte as( select 1 id,'AA,AB,AC,AD' names union all select 2,'BA,BB' union all select 3,'CA,CB,CC,CD,CE' union all select 4,'DA,DB,DC' ) i would like to create a select statement which will split each "names" column into multiple rows. For example the first row should produce 1,'AA' 1,'AB' 1,'AC' 1,'AD' Can we do it using only SQL. This is failry easy to do in Oracle.

As it stands right now, various things are out of sync, and what may work in testing/QA can easily fail in production because of settings/patch/etc inconsistencies.     Running the official JSplitPane demo http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/components/splitpane.html on my Ubuntu system gives a resize cursor like -- over the divider. The behavior of native split panes gives <-- resize cursors. Does this qualify as a bug that should be reported to Sun (eh, Oracle)? Is there a workaround?
