  • Browser not handling exception from AJAX panel, ASP.NET c#

    - by Grant
    Hi, i am having trouble catching errors in an AJAX panel. Even when i throw an exception in the c# code behind the front end completely ignores it. Here is the code i have setup, can anyone see why? I ideally want to show a js alert window on error. Code Behind: protected void btnX_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { throw new ApplicationException("test"); } protected void ScriptManager_AsyncPostBackError(object sender, AsyncPostBackErrorEventArgs e) { ScriptManager.AsyncPostBackErrorMessage = e.Exception.Message; } Markup: <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManager.getInstance().add_endRequest(EndRequestHandler); function EndRequestHandler(sender, e) { window.alert(e.get_error().name); } </script> <asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager" runat="server" AllowCustomErrorsRedirect="true" OnAsyncPostBackError="ScriptManager_AsyncPostBackError" />

  • JavaScript apparently waits for each AJAX call before sending another in a loop

    - by itako
    Hello. Straight to the point: I have this javascript: for(item=1;item<5;item++) { xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); xmlhttp.open("GET",'zzz.php', true); xmlhttp.send(); } And in PHP file something like this: usleep(5);die('ok'); Now the problem is javascript seems to be waiting for each ajax call to be completed before sending another one. So the first response gets back after approx. 5 seconds, next after 10 seconds and so on. That's a very simplified version of what I do, since the real script involves using cURL in PHP and jQuery as JS lib. But the problem remains the same. Why do responses come back in 5 second intervals?

  • Alternative to iframe using AJAX

    - by JCHASE11
    Hello. I have a music player swf embedded on an html page. Is there any way to have the music continuously play, even when the different html pages are loaded? When a link is clicked, the page is refreshed, also restarting the swf(music). If the site was AJAX driven, this wouldn't be a problem, but all my pages are static. I suppose I could put the entire body in an iframe, but there has to be a better option. Any ideas?

  • Form variable does not refresh with ajax call

    - by ChrisOPeterson
    I'm building a simple email sending form and wanted to make it with ajax. The form submits correctly the first time but if you make any subsequent changes to the text in the form and then submit again then jquery does not pick up on the changes and posts the old data. Whats going on? <script type="text/javascript"> var $j = jQuery.noConflict(); $j(document).ready(function() { var submit_url = "mail_submit.php"; var send_email = $j("#sendemail"); send_email.click(function() { var form = $j("#post"); $j.post(submit_url, form.serialize(), function(data) { alert(data); }); }); });

  • Reporting sanitized user input to the user via AJAX

    - by JimBo
    I am writing some code to give live feedback to the user on the validation of a form using AJAX. I have got it checking length and if the field is empty. Now I want it to sanitize the users input and if the sanatized input differs from the users original input then tell them which characters are not allowed. The code I have written so far works except some characters most notably a '£' symbol result in no response. I think it relates to json_encode and its encoding. Here is the code: $user_input = 'asdfsfs£'; $strip_array = str_split(strip($user_input)); $orig_array = str_split($user_input); $diff_array = array_diff($orig_array,$strip_array); $diff_str = implode(', ',$diff_array); $final = json_encode($diff_str); function strip($input){return htmlentities(strip_tags($input),ENT_QUOTES);} Hope someone can figure out a solution.

  • Fetch and load a whole page with AJAX

    - by nimo
    I realize that it's generally not a good idea to do this but the reason why I want to is because it's a really heavy page and I want to show the user progress of the download and when it's done load the page. I can either do this with some kind of spinner but is it possible for me to show the actual progress? Can I see how much and what data has been downloaded? Let's say I use jQuery for the AJAX-request how do I do this? If you have other suggestions please feel free to suggest.

  • AJAX Autocomplete appears at a random vertical position, not touching the textbox

    - by Tim
    Hi, I am using the AJAX Autocomplete extender for ASP.NET 2. Everything works fine...I am calling a webservice which gets me the values to fill the drop down with after 3 letters are typed into certain es. I have set the maxheight attribute and am using a scrollbar in case there are more entries than would fit that height. However, I notice that in some cases, the drop down appears at a random position on the screen, i.e. rather than connected to the relevant textbox, sometimes it appears with its entries above the textbox, not touching it at all. Sometimes it would have just one entry and it would appear in the middle of the screen vertically above the textbox it is associated to. Is there a reason why this is happening?

  • handle an arrray posted with $.ajax (jquery) to a webservice

    - by burktelefon
    I'm trying to post data to a webservice (asp.net 3.5), like below (two variants, one commented): var array = [3, 2, 5, 1, 7]; var jsonString = JSON.stringify(array); //var jsonString = '{ "firstName": "John", "lastName": "Smith", "age": 25, "address": { "streetAddress": "21 2nd Street", "city": "New York", "state": "NY", "postalCode": "10021" }, "phoneNumber": [ { "type": "home", "number": "212 555-1234" }, { "type": "fax", "number": "646 555-4567" } ] }' $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "WebService2.asmx/AddRoute", data: jsonString, contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "json", processData: "false", error: function(msg) { alert('error' + msg.toString); } }); So I need a matching webmethod to recieve it. Something like this: [WebMethod] public string AddRoute(/* xxx */) { //handle data } Could someone please elaborate on how I can fetch the data, where I've typed "xxx"? I would have thought "int[] array" would do the trick, but it's not working. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

  • Javascript: best solution to wait for all ajax callbacks to be executed

    - by glaz666
    Hi! Imagine we have to sources to be requested by ajax. I want to perform some actions when all callbacks are triggered. How this can be done besides this approach: (function($){ var sources = ['http://source1.com', 'http://source2.com'], guard = 0, someHandler = function() { if (guard != sources.length) { return; } //do some actions }; for (var idx in sources) { $.getJSON(sources[idx], function(){ guard++; someHandler(); }) } })(jQuery) What I don't like here is that in this case I can't handle response failing (eg. I can't set timeout for response to come) and overall approach (I suppose there should be a way to use more power of functional programming here) Any ideas? Regards!

  • AJAX Problem - No response text in FireFox, but ok in IE

    - by Taiba
    Hi, I am making a simple AJAX call to an external site. It works ok in IE, but in Firefox, not response text is returned. I think it might have something to do with the response being "chunked", but I'm not sure. Any ideas? Thanks. function loadXMLDoc() { var xmlhttp; var urlString = "http://drc.edeliver.com.au/ratecalc.asp?Pickup_Postcode=6025&Destination_Postcode=6055&Country=AU&Weight=100&Service_Type=STANDARD&Length=100&Width=100&Height=100&Quantity=2"; if (window.XMLHttpRequest) {// code for IE7+, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); } else {// code for IE6, IE5 xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=function() { if (xmlhttp.readyState==4) { window.alert(xmlhttp.responseText); } } xmlhttp.open("GET", urlString, true); xmlhttp.send(); }

  • Process AJAX response with long runing tasks

    - by mpz
    I have long time task in controller action. I use delayed job for it. (Also in heroku it is good practice for perfomance - dyno must work for small time in each request) But my client need result of it work and users can wait on that task. It is more clear: no any addition models or records in it, simple view and js... I think about such way: On client run AJAX with very long timeout (5 min for example) Client make request to server as usual On controller in action1 def start_work (with delay work setup) i need NO any response to client After work performs (delay job finished) i need run new action2 with response to client Client recieve response after about 1-5 min It is possible?

  • How access Ajax generated source ?

    - by Rorchackh
    Hello everyone, I created a php file that return dynamically generated text. This text is returned with a div id. When I retrieve that text using Ajax as responseText. I would like to access the properties of that div using javascript, which is impossible since that new text is not added to the DOM. My question is, how can i access that div using either raw javascript or frameworks (am somewhat familiar with jQuery) ? It may be useful to note that the div can be accessed using CSS. Thank you.

  • Prevent Cookies From Being Sent on AJAX Request

    - by user340571
    Hello everyone, I have a web service that I invoke from script but that does not need any information stored in cookies. Anytime I make a request to the service, the cookie is sent along with it. I understand that by default cookies are sent with HTTP request, but is there any way at all to overwrite that behavior and not send the cookie? In a nutshell, I am issuing my request like this: $.ajax({ type: "POST", cache: false, url: url, data: data, contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "json", success: function(response) { successFunc(response); }, error: function(xhr) { errorFunc(xhr); } });

  • Problem with passing folder path string to web service function via jQuery.ajax

    - by the_V
    Hello, I need to perform asp.net web-service function call via jQuery and pass asp.net application path to it. That's the way I'm trying to do it (code is located within asp.net page, e.g. aspx file): var d = "{'str':'<%=System.DateTime.Now.ToString() %>', 'applicationPath':'<%=GetApplicationPath() %>'}"; $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "http://localhost/testwebsite/TestWebService.asmx/Test", data: d, contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "json", error: function (xhr, status, error) { var err = eval("(" + xhr.responseText + ")"); alert(err.Message); }, success: function (msg) { } }); That's what GetApplicationPath method looks like: protected string GetApplicationPath() { return HttpUtility.HtmlEncode(Request.PhysicalApplicationPath); } And here is a header of web-service function which I'm trying to call: public void Test(string str, string applicationPath) Function call works well, but applicationPath parameter doesn't passed correctly. When I debug it I see that backslashes are removed, function gets "C:ProjectsSamplesmytestwebsite" instead of "'C:\Projects\Samples\mytestwebsite\'". How can I overcome this?

  • jquery ajax call: multiple links load data into one div

    - by user1146939
    I have a dynamically generated list of links. Each link will request a different page to load. Depending on the link clicked I want it to fill the div with an ajax .load call. The thing is I want all links to reset and fill the same div. I am having trouble doing this without making a seperate div for each link, which isn't what I'm looking for. This is what I have so far, but only works with one link. <a data-toggle="modal" href="#myModal">Link</a> <div class="modal hide fade" id="myModal"></div> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $('#myModal').load('mypage.php'); }); </script>

  • 2 ajax forms on the same page posting same textbox

    - by rod
    Hi All, Is it possible to post, say like a value in a textbox, to 2 different ajax forms that are on the same page? It doesn't have to be at the same time? What I'm trying to do is this: I have a search page that searches for customers and displays them on a paged grid. Users can specify up to 5 parameters (5 textboxes) to narrow the search. On the same page I have an export option. Well since I want all the customers for the search and not just the paged data I need a way to post back to the server for this option passing the same parameters used in the grid. I'm using a ViewModel which would be nice if I can pass that back to the server rather than the individual search fields that are backed by the view model. Thanks, rodchar

  • Java Wicket - Calling javascript ( JQuery ) before AJAX

    - by user1428051
    I got this thing i'm trying to solve: I got a ListView created using Wicket ( 1.5 ) with a lot of elements and a scroll. When new items are available, the user is asked if he would like to refresh the list via a message backed by an AjaxLink: public void onClick(AjaxRequestTarget ajaxTarget) { /* do something ... */ ajaxTarget.addComponent(_list); } So on click the list gets reloaded and the scroll position is reset to zero. Is there any way i can call JavaScript before the list reloads the save the scroll position? (I know how to get/save the scroll position ( .scrollTop() ) , i just don't know how to call a function right before AJAX ).
