• How to resolve error "Run-Time Check Failure #3"?

  I am working on MS Visual Studio. I keep on getting this error: "Run-Time Check Failure #3 - The variable 'test' is being used without being initialized." I don't have any idea how to solve this. • ncurses - expect: sleep executes at wrong time

  I have some ncurses apps that I need to automate to test repeatedly. I am placing the "sleep" command between "send" commands. However, what i see is that all the sleep's are executed in the beginning before the screen loads. expect concatenates the sends (I see that at the screen bottom during sleep) then issues them together. I have tried sending all keys with "send -s" or "send -h". That marginally helps. I've replaced "-f" on line 1 with "-b" - again a tiny difference. Why isn't "sleep" pausing at the right time. Incidentally, my programs have a getc() loop, so i can't use "expect" command. I would like to 'go native' and reproduce this functionality in SSIS. Thanks in advance guys and girls.   I have a script that I want to run via command line. In setting up the command to run, I am trying to do a detection for the MySQL path. When I type "which mysql" in my terminal, I get an answer. When I run PHP -- $path = exec('which mysql'); -- I get nothing. If I do the same command for "which php" I get an answer, but not MySQL. Why would I get a response from terminal and not from PHP CLI on this?

  Glassfish v3 is launched as follows: ./bin/asadmin start-domain <domain-name> This script eventually runs: exec "$JAVA" -jar "$AS_INSTALL_LIB/admin-cli.jar" "$@" admin-cli.jar eventually launches another process, effectively putting itself into the background. I would like to launch glassfish without putting itself in the background for the purpose of monitoring with daemontools (ie: svc). Is this possible? The documentation talks about using inittab here which seems like it would also require a way to launch it without forking or backgrounding so some other process (eg: inittab, evc, etc.) can watch the process id and restart it if it crashes. However, in this inittab example, is it using the same backgrounding cmd line, so I don't know how inittab can possibly respawn the process when it doesn't know what process id to watch. Am I missing something?

• Ruby w/ Postgres & Sinatra - Query won't order right with parameter??

  So I set a variable in my main ruby file that's handling all my post and get requests and then use ERB templates to actually show the pages. I pass the database handler itself into the erb templates, and then run a query in the template to get all (for this example) grants. In my main ruby file: grants_main_order = "id_num" get '/grants' do erb :grants, :locals => {:db=>db, :order=>grants_main_order, :message=>params[:message]} end In the erb template: db = locals[:db] getGrants = db.exec("SELECT * FROM grants ORDER BY $1", [locals[:order]]) This produces some very random ordering, however if I replace the $1 with id_num, it works as it should. Is this a typing issue? How can I fix this? Using string replacement with #{locals[:order]} also gives funky results.

• Controlling Windows Media Player through PHP / batch files

  I'm currently writing a tiny webapp for my HTPC (actually, a PC serving as both a media player and web- / fileserver) that will allow me to remotely control the playing of audio, without having to turn on my TV just to switch songs. I'm using Windows Media Player as my audio player of choice, and I thought I could control it through PHP's COM Class. Unfortunately, I've not been able to find any documentation or examples on controlling WMP through this interface. Can anyone point me in the right direction here? A second (and much less preferable) solution would be to use PHP's exec() call to start batch files that, in turn, control WMP.

  iam using GET command to get the content of a page.When i write the same command on shell prompt it gives correct result but when i use that in PHP file then sometimes its giving correct result but sometimes it gives only half of the content i.e. end-half portion only. Then, following another Stackoverflow post, they recommended installing Bundler. I think the pipe might be full, but I do not know how to clear it. I tried using fsync but that didn't work. Can anyone help me?

• How can I concatenate two mp3 files with different bit rates

  I have FFmpeg installed on my linux web server. When I execute the following code, I have intermittent results. I think I have figured out that the MP3s do not compile when they have different bitrates. exec ('cat '. $pair['source_file'] . ' ' . $pair['translated_word_file'] . '>' . $temp_mp3); I might have found some articles online that reference taking them apart and then bundling them back together at a consistent bitrates. I have confirmed that this won't really work with basic "cat" function and that "sox" can be used IF they have the same sample rate. The issue now becomes "What is the best way to get them to the same sample rate?"

• Execute 'stty raw' command in same terminal?

  I'm trying to put the console into "raw" mode in Java. I understand this will only work on UNIX. I'm using the command stty raw If I type the command into the terminal directly, it does what it's supposed to do. In Java, I try to set the mode like this: Runtime.getRuntime().exec("stty raw"); But the terminal does not go into raw mode. I have a feeling this is because Java is just executing the command in a virtual terminal in the background or something, rather than the active terminal. Is there a way to do this?

What is the recommended way to include a script in a package that should end up on the public CPAN and if there is any different recommendation for packages that would be released on an in-house CPAN server? That will be embedded by the CPAN client during installation and it will be very different when installing on Windows. What is the recommended sh-bang line?   Just a Question Regarding unix and PHP today. What I am doing on my PHP is using the Unix system to untar a tarred file. exec("tar -xzf foo.tar.gz"); Generally everything works fine until I run into this particular foo.tar.gz, which has a file system as follows: Applications/ Library/ Systems/ After running the tar command, it seems that the file permissions get changed to 644 (instead of 755). This causes Permission denied (errno 13) and therefore disabling most of my code. (I'm guessing from lack of privileges) Any way I can stop this tar command completely ruining my permissions? Thanks. Oh and this seems to only happen when I have a foo.tar.gz file that Has this particular file system. Anything else and I'm good.
