• How can I determine if jquery tab is shown because of user click or from tab rotation

  I've been using the jQuery UI tabs for a bit now and an interesting request has come up. The current tab setup is using the rotation feature. I need to find a way to determine if the tab is shown because of the result of the rotation itself, or because a user physically clicked the tab. I've wired up all of the standard events, show and select and they fire regardless of the source of the tab change. Does anyone have any ideas? Basically I'd like to do something additional if the user clicked the tab, but not if the tab changes by itself via the rotation. If I wire up the click even to the tabs themselves it doesn't seem to get fired at all, I'm assuming because the tabs widget is using that event itself.

  Hi. I have an issue with System.Threading.Timer. I am scheduling some actions using a time in a windows service. The timer starts executing the callback after a specified dueTime period. The windows service starts up after reboot automatically. However, I have observed a strange thing after a system reboot- the callback method starts executing itself 3 or 4 minutes before the specified period. What might be the reason for such behavior? Here is the sample code: TimeSpan timeToWait = this.StartTime - DateTime.Now; Int64 msToSleep = (Int64)Math.Round(timeToWait.TotalMilliseconds); _timer = new Timer(callback_method, null, msToSleep, MinutesScheduledInterval * 60000); where _timer is a member variable, StartTime - the time when the timer should first fire.

  Hello, I am trying to fire off a javascript method using the OnBegin AjaxOption in an Ajax method. However, when debugging with firebug the callback in unable to find the Javascript method and I do not know why. My code is simple, first I use a basic Ajax method like this: <%= Ajax.ActionLink("Testing", "Testing", new AjaxOptions { OnBegin = "RunThisThing" }) % Then under it I decalre this script. <script type="text/javascript"> function RunThisThing { alert("WORK") } </script> Yet when I try running the page and clicking on the link, Firebug tells me "RunThisThing is not defined". Any idea what I might be doing wrong?

  I have a need to run a piece of code every 120 seconds. I am looking for an easy way to do this in VBA. I know that it would be possible to get the timer value from the Auto_Open event to prevent having to use a magic number, but I can't quite get how to fire off a timer to get something to run every 120 seconds. I don't really want to use an infinite loop with a sleep if I can avoid it. • Can you use PHP libcurl to pull files from server A to server B?

  Hi, cURL and libcurl let you do things you normally do with a browser, right? Like, as if you have a jini sit inside a server and fire up a browser and do stuff. Ok then. I need a script to sit on server B, and click on download links on a server A and download files (from server A to server B). I am new to curl, and not sure if all I need is to issue a simple get or something else. I know that Content-disposition header forces the browser to save the document. Does it have the same effect on libcurl too? If it does, I'll make my serving script on server A send that header, and then serve the file. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

• Where does Visual Studio stores the default browser to use in debug?

  Hi all, I'm using Firefox as my default browser but when working in Visual Studio, I'd like to fire up IE when I go in debug. We all know that in MVC application, there's no way to choose the default browser unless you add a web form file, right click it, select browse with and then force a browser to be the default one. Great. My simple question is: where does VS stores the browser I just tell him to use (registry? project file? some xml config file?) I'm asking because VS loose this preference several times a month. I'm fed up with making the brower trick again and again. Thanks in advance, Fabian

  Hello again. I am wondering if anyone has used the userInteractionEnabled method on a UILabel to allow the label to act like a button (or just to fire off a method). Update (4/30/09 @1:07pm) Clarification: I have a standard InfoButton and next to it I want to place a label with the text "settings" and I would like the label to function like the button (which flips over to a settings screen. So, basically I need to tie the already defined showSettinsView to the "infoLabel" label; a user clicks on the infoButton or infoLabel and the method fires off. The infoButton is already working and is using an IBAction to trigger the method. I would like to know how to wire up the label to implement the same method. That is all. Cheers!

It's incredibly useful for helping people with a small code sample without creating a project, compiling everything cleanly, sending them the code snippet and deleting the project. I'm not asking about the best code snippets or a snippet editor or where to store snippets! For C#, I use Snippet Compiler. For Java, I use Eclipse Scrapbook. For LINQ, I use LINQPad.   Hi My ASP.Net app is periodically getting the error 'Cannot find the object dbo."XXXX" because it does not exist or you do not have permissions' when it tries to execute a specific stored procedure that writes to the database. I have seen a few forum posts about this issue but the strange thing is that the method works fine almost all of the time, just every now and then I see it in my error logs. Can anyone tell me why this might works Ok most of the time but occassionally fire the error? Application is C# using Enterprise Library 4.1 Data Access. Database is SQL Server 2005 Cheers

• C# Desktop Application "Encounters an error and has to exit" on first run of the day

  Hello, It seems I tend to attract strange issues. This time, I have written a C# application, and handled most of the exceptions I can find. The problem is, when I run the installed/bundled version on any PC for the first time in a day (after the PC has been shut down and started after a while) it comes across some error and has to shutdown the application (even though the try-catch block surrounding the Main() does not fire). The application does not throw the same error on subsequent runs. I added an #if(!DEBUG) ... #else ... #endif surrounding the Main() code. Can anyone help me? Thanks!

  I'm trying to figure out how to map against a simple read-only property and have that property fire when I save to the database. A contrived example should make this more clear. First, a simple table: meta = MetaData() foo_table = Table('foo', meta, Column('id', String(3), primary_key=True), Column('description', String(64), nullable=False), Column('calculated_value', Integer, nullable=False), ) What I want to do is set up a class with a read-only property that will insert into the calculated_value column for me when I call session.commit()... import datetime def Foo(object): def __init__(self, id, description): self.id = id self.description = description @property def calculated_value(self): self._calculated_value = datetime.datetime.now().second + 10 return self._calculated_value According to the sqlalchemy docs, I think I am supposed to map this like so: mapper(Foo, foo_table, properties = { 'calculated_value' : synonym('_calculated_value', map_column=True) }) The problem with this is that _calculated_value is None until you access the calculated_value property. It appears that SQLAlchemy is not calling the property on insertion into the database, so I'm getting a None value instead. What is the correct way to map this so that the result of the "calculated_value" property is inserted into the foo table's "calculated_value" column?

• Visual Studio 2008. MFC event wizard broken

  OK, so it's almost a programming question - The VS2008 dialog event wizard has stopped working. Double-clicking on a button in an MFC dialog project does not fire the wizard as usual and a right-click to get to the 'Add Event Handler...' shows a dialog with no message types. Further to this the MFC message mapping and virtual class listing that generally appears in the properties window (Alt + Enter) is now empty. Has anyone elese seen this and if so, how'd they fix it?   Hi all, I am new to Entity Framework and please pardon my ignorance. We have a simple application written using SQL Server and ADO.Net. Now we have got a new requirement that, whenever a particular rows get updated by our application, some business logic has to happen. I have been looking into Triggers in SQL server and it looks like we can do it using triggers. I am also looking at Entity Framework's OnPropertyChange capability. Is it possible to do it with "OnPropertyChange"? I mean, Can I create a model and implement "OnPropertyChange" method? And when our application modifies the rows using ADO.Net, then will it fire "OnPropertyChange" event so that my custome code in "OnPropertyChange" excutes? • cant start glassfish within netbeans

  when i click on Run it displays and error message: Starting GlassFish v3 Domain GlassFish v3 Domain start failed. /Volumes/Private/noname/Sites/projects/java/MyFirstServlet/nbproject/build-impl.xml:602: Deployment error: GlassFish v3 Domain start failed. See the server log for details. BUILD FAILED (total time: 2 minutes 0 seconds) but then i fire up Terminal in mac and use asadmin start-domain and it starts. and in netbeans i then Run the project and it fires up Safari and displays the content. but why cant glassfish start in netbeans? any idea?

• What's the reason both Image and Bitmap classes don't implement a custom equality/hashcode logic?

  From MSDN documentation, it seems as both GetHashCode() and Equals() haven't been overriden in Bitmap. Neither have them been overriden in Image. So both classes are using the Object's version of them just compares references. I wasn't too convinced so I decided to fire up Reflector to check it out. It seems MSDN is correct in that matter. So, is there any special reason why MS guys wouldn't implement "comparison logic", at least for the Bitmap class? I find it is kinda acceptable for Image, as it is an abstract class, but not so much for the Bitmap class. I can see in a lot of situations calculating the hash code can be an expensive operation, but it'd be alright if it used some kind of lazy evaluation (storing the computed hash code integer in a variable a variable, so it wouldn't have to calculate it later again). When wanting to compare 2 bitmaps, will I have to resort to having to run all over the picture comparing each one of its pixels? Thanks

• Javascript image change causes embeded UserControls to flicker

  I have a n html page being displayed in IE. It has some buttons made up of images with mouseover/mouseout events on them in JavaScript, and a bunch of embedded .Net UserControls. When the mouseover/mouseout events fire, I change the images src to something else (simple rollover effect). The problem is that the UserControls often (but not always) flicker when this happens. To be clear, the images don't flicker, and the rest of the page doesn't flicker, just the embedded controls. This page is local, not coming from a server or anything. So, any ideas? More information : I've noticed that highlighting text does it too...

  I'm familiar with the following: "If the operation raises an exception that your code does not handle, the BackgroundWorker catches the exception and passes it into the RunWorkerCompleted event handler, where it is exposed as the Error property of System.ComponentModel.RunWorkerCompletedEventArgs. If you are running under the Visual Studio debugger, the debugger will break at the point in the DoWork event handler where the unhandled exception was raised." However, I've encountered a weird glitch. In my component, there's an instance of BackgroundWorker. Even though it's not running in the debugger, the exception remains unhandled by the worker. Even simplified code produces an unhandled exception (and RunWorkerCompleted doesn't fire): Throw New ArgumentException("Test") The main thing is the code of RunWorkerComplete: RaiseEvent UpdateComplete(Me, New AsyncCompletedEventArgs(e.Error, e.Cancelled, e.Result)) I need the component to expose the worker exception through a public event. If I remove the RaiseEvent call, the exception becomes handled by the worker, and accessible through e.Error. Apparently, raising an event causes the worker to miss the exception. How can that be?

  I am developing a bookmarklet that requires a specific version of jQuery be loaded on the page. When I have to dynamically insert a jQuery script tag to meet the requirments of the bookmarklet I want to wait for the onload or onreadystatechange event on the script tag before executing any function that requires jQuery. For some reason the onload and/or onreadystatechange events do not fire.   Hello All, I am using Ubuntu + cakephp 1.3. I am trying the database migration with the help of cakeDC migration plugin. I configured the plugin as per the instructions.   I have a datagridview with a datasource of type binding list. I understand that when the datagridview changed this will update the items in the binding list. I also know that if the objects in the bindinglist implement Inotifypropertychanged then if the obects are changed outside the grid then the objects will notify the bindlist which will then notify the datagrid My question is: If the datagrid view changing an object, I want the bindinglist or changed object to fire an event that allows me to pass the object to a WCF service that will persist the object on the data access layer side e.g. Service.Save(ChangedObject) How would I go about doing this?
