  • Add function to existing JQuery plugin

    - by kralco626
Is it possible to add a function to a plugin without modifying the actual plugin? Can I do something like this in my site's js file? $.fn.Watermark.Refresh = function() { $.Watermark.HideAll(); $.Watermark.ShowAll(); } or (function($){ $.fn.Watermark.Refresh = function() { $.Watermark.HideAll(); $.Watermark.ShowAll(); }; })(jQuery); neither worked, the first says $ is undefined, the second that jQuery is undefined... ideas? Solution: Either method works, just include the jquery file before the site js file.

  • Looking for a jquery plugin to serialize a form to an object

    - by John
    I'm looking for a jQuery function or plugin that serializes form inputs to an object using the naming convention for deep-serialization supported by param() in jQuery 1.4: <form> <input name="a[b]" value="1"/> <input name="a[c]" value="2"/> <input name="d[]" value="3"/> <input name="d[]" value="4"/> <input name="d[2][e]" value="5"/> </form> $('form').serializeObject(); // { a: { b:1,c:2 }, d: [3,4,{ e:5 }] } Prototype's Form.serialize method can do exactly this. What's the jQuery equivalent? I found this plugin but it doesn't follow this naming convention.

  • "render as JSON" is display JSON as text instead of returning it to AJAX call as expected

    - by typoknig
I'm navigating to the index action of MyController. Some of the on the index page I'm making an AJAX call back to myAction in MyController. I expect myAction action to return some data as JSON to my AJAX call so I can do something with the data client side, but instead of returning the data as JSON like I want, the data is being displayed as text. Example of my Grails controller: class MyController { def index() { render( view: "myView" ) } def myAction { def mapOfStuff = [ "foo": "foo", "bar":] render mapOfStuff as JSON } } Example of my JavaScript: $( function() { function callMyAction() { $.ajax({ dataType: 'json', url: base_url + '/myController/myAction', success: function( data ) { $(function() { if( data.foo ) { alert( data.foo ); } if( data.bar ) { alert( data.bar ); } }); } }); } }); What I expect is that my page will render, then my JavaScript will be called, then two alerts will display. Instead the JSON array is displayed as text in my browser window: {"foo":"foo","bar":"bar"} At this point the last segment of the URL in my address bar is myAction and not index. Now if I manually enter the URL of the index page and press refresh, all works as expected. I have half a dozen AJAX calls I do the exact same way and none of them are having problems. What is the deal here? UPDATE: I have noticed something. When I set a break point in the index action of MyController and another one in the myAction action, the break point in myAction gets hit BEFORE the break point in index, even though I am navigating to the index. This is obviously closer to the root cause of my problem, but why is it happening?

  • What's the ultimate way to install debug Flash Player in Firefox?

    - by Bart van Heukelom
What's the easiest way to get a debug Flash Player (the one you can download from here, though I don't care if it's downloaded automatically) working in Firefox? 64 bit system, default Firefox from repository If possible, I don't want the flash player to be replaced by a newer but non-debug version automatically (updating to a new debug version is ok) Want the most recent version (10.2 at the moment)

  • Youtube videos suddenly all report "Invalid parameters" and won't play

    - by Pointy
Running 11.10, with up-to-date Flash (11.1.102.55, which the Flash site agrees is the up-to-date version). Every Youtube video reports a blank screen with the words, "Invalid parameters": I've tried fiddling with the player "hardware acceleration" setting, and that has no effect. Similarly, I've clicked and un-clicked and re-clicked the "storage" options in the global settings thing, also to no effect. I haven't seen this in any google searches (though there are other problems described involved the "Invalid parameters" message) which makes me think it's a recent phenomenon. edit — hmm, fails in Firefox but works in Chrome ...

  • How do I import service references to Unity3D?

    - by Timothy Williams
I'm attempting access a service reference in Unity. I need two: the SOAP framework and a separate service called ContentVault. The respective service URL's are: SOAP: http://api.microsofttranslator.com/V2/Soap.svc ContentVault: http://ioun.wizards.com/ContentVault.svc Both services import fine in to Visual Studio. I've tried everything I can think of but they won't work with Unity. I just get various errors (changing depending on which solution I'm trying out). I've attempted using svcutil to export the services as external scripts, but all I got was a bunch of using errors. I've tried converting the code to work with .NET 2.0 to no avail, I've even tried making the services in to .DLL's to no success. How could get these services working with Unity?

  • How Do I Install Latest Java Plugin on Ubuntu 8.04 LTS with Custom Firefox 3.6.3?

    - by Volomike
I have Ubuntu 8.04 LTS and will need to remain on that for awhile as I am a programmer and cannot disturb what I'm doing in the middle of a project. As you know, it doesn't want to install the latest Firefox by default and keeps me in the stone age. So, I had to install my own Firefox. I did so and with relative ease I was able to install the Flash plugin using the normal 'ln -s' technique one usually does with /usr/lib/firefox/plugins. Now I need to do a Gotomypc.com task and it requires Java -- moan -- so I need to figure out how to install Java. I downloaded and installed the latest Java plugin in /usr/java, and I do see underneath that layer of folders a plugins folder with a .so file. So, I went to /usr/lib/firefox/plugins and did this: ln -s /usr/java/jre1.6.0_20/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so Then, I also read on the web that one has to create a ~/.mozilla/plugins folder, cd into it, and then run the same ln -s command again. Another site recommended finding one's ~/.mozilla/firefox and renaming it to ~/.mozilla/firefox.old (after you backed up your bookmarks) and then launching firefox again so that it creates ~/.mozilla/firefox and uses the new Java plugin. Well, all these attempts have completely failed and it is incredibly frustrating. I do about:plugins to see my plugins and all I get are the Flash and the default null plugin. I do not see the Java one. Also, they said on my tools menu with Firefox 3.6.3 I would see a Java Console menu and I don't see that either. I found a pluginreg.dat somewhere deep under ~/.mozilla/firefox, but it does not list the Java plugin inside -- only Flash and the null plugin. Please help me install Java. I need to help a client out and need to connect to his PC remotely with gotomypc, which requires Java inside firefox.

  • Flash isn't working in Chrome on 64 bit Ubuntu 10.10 fresh install

    - by IanBalisy
I just installed Ubuntu 10.10 64 bit last night on my laptop and installed Google Chrome ver. 8.0.552.237. So far flash works on Firefox and Chromium, but not at all on Chrome. I did the sevenmachines install for flashplugin64 and that worked for firefox and chromium. Anyone know how to make it work on Chrome? I really would prefer to use Chrome over Chromium, but if it's not an easy fix I can switch. I'm not too Ubuntu literate, but I can figure things out if necessary. (In short, long explanations are not necessary).

  • BBC flash videos don't play in Firefox (Youtube videos do, and all is fine in Chrome)

    - by Cocoro Cara
Ubuntu 10.10, 32 bit. Firefox 3.6.14 Why don't BBC videos play in Firefox if Youtube has no problem? Moreover videos play fine in Chrome. Another strange thing: there seem to be two flashplugins in about:plugins File: libflashplayer.so Version: Shockwave Flash 10.1 r102 File: libflashplayer.so Version: Shockwave Flash 10.2 r152 But there is only one flashplugin in the plugins directory: /usr/lib/firefox/plugins/flashplugin-alternative.so - /etc/alternatives/firefox-flashplugin $ update-alternatives --list firefox-flashplugin /usr/lib/flashplugin-installer/libflashplayer.so Any ideas?

  • Play or Lift: which one is more explicit?

    - by Andrea
I am going to investigate web development with Scala, and the choice is between learning Lift or Play: probably I will not have enough time to try both, at least at first. Now, many comparisons between the two are available on the internet, but I would like to know how do they compare with respect to being explicit and involving less magic. Let me explain what I mean by example. I have used, to various degrees, CakePHP, symfony2, Django and Grails. I feel a very clear distinction between Django and symfony2, which are very explicit about what you are doing, and Grails and CakePHP, which try to do their best to guess what you are trying to achieve and often feel "magical". Let me give some examples comparing Django and Grails. In Django, views are functions that take a request as input and return a response. You can instantiate explicitly an instance of HttpResponse and populate its body with a string, or you can use shortcut functions to leverage the template system. In any case the return value from your view always has the same type. In contrast, the render method from Grails is highly polymorphic. You can throw a context at it and it will try to render a template which is found by convention using that context. Or you can pass it a pair of a template path and a context and that will work too. Or a string. Or XML. Grails tries hard to make sense of whatever you return from your controller. In the Django ORM, each model class has a static attribute representing the manager for that class. That manager exposes a fluent interface to build querysets. In Grails, you can have a similar functionality by composing detached criteria. Still, the most common way to query objects seems to be the use of runtime-generated methods like FindUserByEmailNotNull or FindPostByDateGreaterThan. I will not go further, but my point is that in Django-like frameworks you have control over the whole flow of the request/response process, while in Grails-like ones I feel I only have to feel the blanks and the framework will manage the rest of the flow for me. This is not to criticize Grails or CakePHP; which type you prefer is mainly a matter of preference. In fact, I happen to like some aspects of Grails, but I feel more comfortable with a framework which does less for me. Back to the point of the question: which one among Play and Lift is more explicit about what you do and which one tries to simplify more what you have to do with a layer of "magic"?

  • Is there a stackexchange like extension for magento? [closed]

    - by John K
I'm looking into adding a knowledge base solution to our existing magento installation where people can ask questions regarding our products in a similar way to the stackexchange format. I could not find anything myself, so I was wondering if anyone had experience with implementing something similar, perhaps trough multiple extensions tied together to achieve this. Any help would be appreciated.

  • iSCSI targets don't appear after rescan

    - by asmr
Hi everybody, I have an Equallogic 4000PS SAN box to which I have connected 2 x ESX 4.0.0 hosts sharing the LUNs. I have an older ESX 3.5 host which I want to setup to share the same LUNs. I have setup a vmkernel port with 2 NICs attached to 2 the iSCSI switch. When I perform an iSCSI software adapter rescan, it takes a long time and it doesn't find the targets. • WordPress > Activating plugin makes site go blank in one theme, not in another. Generated source ide

    - by Scott B
Strangest thing. When I activate this specific plugin, the public side of the site goes blank (nothing but a white screen with blank view source). However, when I test the site with the wordpress default theme, the plugin does not conflict and the site works fine. The interesting thing is that I've compared the generated source (using FF's webmaster tools) with and without plugin activated and in each case they are identical. This led me to believe that perhaps the plugin was altering htaccess, however, that file is the same whether or not the plugin is active or not. How can I find out what is causing the problem with this plugin? The plugin is called "Crawl Rate Tracker".

  • MySQL error: Can't find symbol '_mysql_plugin_interface_version_' in library

    - by Josh Smith
The boring, necessary details: I'm on Snow Leopard running MySQL locally. I'm trying to install the Sphinx engine for MySQL like so: mysql> install plugin sphinx soname 'sphinx.so'; ERROR 1127 (HY000): Can't find symbol '_mysql_plugin_interface_version_' in library I've Googled everywhere and can't seem to find an actual solution to this problem. For example this issue on the Sphinx forums seems unresolved. Someone else also raised this issue with similar results. The first post linked to an O'Reilly article which says: There is a common problem that might occur at this point: ERROR 1127 (HY000): Can't find symbol '_mysql_plugin_interface_version_' in library If you see a message like this, it is likely that you forgot to include the -DMYSQL_DYNAMIC_PLUGIN option when compiling the plugin. Adding this option to the g++ compile line is required to create a dynamically loadable plug-in. But the article ends on that point; I have no idea what this means or how to resolve the issue.

  • Why not open a PDF file in the browser but first save it to the harddisk?

    - by Lernkurve
Question Is it correct that saving a PDF to the harddisk first, and then opening it from there with some PDF reader (not the browser) is safer than opening it directly with the browser plugin? My current understanding I know that the PDF browser plugin might have a security leak and a manipulated PDF file might exploit it and get access to the user's computer. I recently heard that saving the PDF file frist and opening it then was safer. I don't understand why that should be safer. Can anyone explain? My logic would suggest that a manipulated file started from the harddisk can just as well exploit a security leak, say for instance, of Adobe Acrobat Reader.

    Hi I have a used the maven assembly plugin to create multiple jar from one jar now the problem is that I have to publish these jar to the local repo, just like other maven jars publish by them self when they are built maven clean install how will I be able to do this here is my pom file <project> <parent> <groupId>parent.common.bundles</groupId> <version>1.0</version> <artifactId>child-bundle</artifactId> </parent> <modelVersion>4.0.0</modelVersion> <groupId>common.dataobject</groupId> <artifactId>common-dataobject</artifactId> <packaging>jar</packaging> <name>common-dataobject</name> <version>1.0</version> <dependencies> </dependencies> <build> <plugins> <plugin> <groupId>org.jibx</groupId> <artifactId>maven-jibx-plugin</artifactId> <version>1.2.1</version> <configuration> <directory>src/main/resources/jibx_mapping</directory> <includes> <includes>binding.xml</includes> </includes> <verbose>false</verbose> </configuration> <executions> <execution> <goals> <goal>bind</goal> </goals> </execution> </executions> </plugin> <plugin> <artifactId>maven-assembly-plugin</artifactId> <executions> <execution> <id>make-business-assembly</id> <phase>package</phase> <goals> <goal>single</goal> </goals> <configuration> <appendAssemblyId>false</appendAssemblyId> <finalName>flight-dto</finalName> <descriptors> <descriptor>src/main/assembly/car-assembly.xml</descriptor> </descriptors> <attach>true</attach> </configuration> </execution> <execution> <id>make-gui-assembly</id> <phase>package</phase> <goals> <goal>single</goal> </goals> <configuration> <appendAssemblyId>false</appendAssemblyId> <finalName>app_gui</finalName> <descriptors> <descriptor>src/main/assembly/bike-assembly.xml</descriptor> </descriptors> <attach>true</attach> </configuration> </execution> </executions> </plugin> </plugins> </build> </project> Here is my assembly file <assembly> <id>app_business</id> <formats> <format>jar</format> </formats> <baseDirectory>target</baseDirectory> <includeBaseDirectory>false</includeBaseDirectory> <fileSets> <fileSet> <directory>${project.build.outputDirectory}</directory> <outputDirectory></outputDirectory> <includes> <include>com/dataobjects/**</include> </includes> </fileSet> </fileSets> </assembly>

  • maven scm plugin deleting output folder in every execution

    - by Udo Fholl
    Hi all, I need to download from 2 different svn locations to the same output directory. So i configured 2 different executions. But every time it executes a checkout deletes the output directory so it also deletes the already downloaded projects. Here is a sample of my pom.xml: <profiles> <profile> <id>checkout</id> <activation> <property> <name>checkout</name> <value>true</value> </property> </activation> <build> <plugins> <plugin> <groupId>org.apache.maven.plugins</groupId> <artifactId>maven-scm-plugin</artifactId> <version>1.3</version> <configuration> <username>${svn.username}</username> <password>${svn.pass}</password> <checkoutDirectory>${path}</checkoutDirectory> <skipCheckoutIfExists /> </configuration> <executions> <execution> <id>checkout_a</id> <configuration> <connectionUrl>scm:svn:https://host_n/folder</connectionUrl> <checkoutDirectory>${path}</checkoutDirectory> </configuration> <phase>process-resources</phase> <goals> <goal>checkout</goal> </goals> </execution> <execution> <id>checkout_b</id> <configuration> <connectionUrl>scm:svn:https://host_l/anotherfolder</connectionUrl> <checkoutDirectory>${path}</checkoutDirectory> </configuration> <phase>process-resources</phase> <goals> <goal>checkout</goal> </goals> </execution> </executions> </plugin> </plugins> </build> </profile> Is there any way to prevent the executions to delete the folder ${path} ? Thank you. PS: I cant format the pom.xml fragment correctly, sorry!

  • How to access Hibernate session from src folder?

    - by firnnauriel
    I would like to know how to access the Service and Domains properly in this sample class placed in src/java folder public class NewsIngestion implements Runnable { private String str; private int num; private Logger log = Logger.getLogger("grails.app"); private static boolean isRunning; private Thread t; private WorkerJobService jobService; private NewsService newsService; public NewsIngestion(String s, int n) { jobService = new WorkerJobService(); newsService = new NewsService(); str = s; num = n; isRunning = false; t = new Thread (this, "NewsIngestion"); } public void run () { while(isRunning){ try{ if(jobService.isJobEnabled("ConsumeFeedsJob") && jobService.lockJob("ConsumeFeedsJob")){ log.info("${this.class.name}: ConsumeFeedsJob started"); try{ // get all sources List sources = (List) InvokerHelper.invokeMethod(RSSFeed.class, "list", null); for(int i = 0; i < sources.size(); i++) { RSSFeed s = (RSSFeed) sources.get(i); // check if it's time to read the source int diff = DateTimeUtil.getSecondsDateDiff(s.getLastChecked(), new Date()); if(s.getLastChecked() == null || diff >= s.getCheckInterval()){ List keyword_list = (List) InvokerHelper.invokeMethod(Keyword.class, "list", null); for(int j = 0; j < keyword_list.size(); j++) { String keyword = (String) keyword_list.get(j); try{ newsService.ingestNewsFromSources(keyword, s); }catch(Exception e){ log.error("${this.class.name}: ${e}"); } log.debug("Completed reading feeds for ${keyword}."); log.info("${this.class.name}: Reading feeds for '${keyword}' (${s.feedName}) took ${Float.toString(st2.getDuration())} second(s)."); } s.setLastChecked(new Date()); InvokerHelper.invokeMethod(RSSFeed.class, "save", null); } log.info("${this.class.name}: Reading feeds for '${s.feedName}' for all keywords took ${Float.toString(st.getDuration())} second(s)."); } }catch(Exception e){ log.error("${this.class.name}: Exception: ${e}"); } log.info("${this.class.name}: ConsumeFeedsJob ended."); // unlock job jobService.unlockJob("ConsumeFeedsJob"); } log.info("alfred: success"); } catch (Exception e){ log.info("alfred exception: " + e.getMessage()); } try { Thread.sleep(5000); } catch (InterruptedException e) { log.info(e.getMessage()); } } } public void start() { if(t == null){ t = new Thread (this, "NewsIngestion"); } if(!isRunning){ isRunning = true; t.start(); } } public void stop() { isRunning = false; } public boolean isRunning() { return isRunning; } } I'm encountering this error message: No Hibernate Session bound to thread, and configuration does not allow creation of non-transactional one here Thanks.

  • Maven best practice for generating multiple jars with different/filtered classes ?

    - by jaguard
I developed a Java utility library (similarly to Apache Commons) that I use in various projects. Additionally to fat clients I also use it for mobile clients (PDA with J9 Foundation profile). In time the library that started as a single project spread over multiple packages. As a result I end up with a lot of functionality but not really needed in all the projects. Since this library is also used inside some mobile/PDA projects I need a way to collect just the used classes and generate the actual specialized jars Currently in the projects that area using this library, I have Ant jar tasks that generate (from the utility project) the specialized jar files (ex: my-util-1.0-pda.jar, my-util-1.0-rcp.jar) using include/exclude jar task features. This is mostly needed due to the generated jar size constraints for the mobile projects. Migrating now to Maven I just wonder if there are any best practices to arrive to something similar so I consider the following scenarios: [1] - additionally to the main jar artifact (my-lib-1.0.jar) also generating inside my-lib project the separate/specialized artifacts using classifiers (ex: my-lib-1.0-pda.jar) using Maven Jar Plugin or Maven Assembly Plugin filtering/includes ... I'm not very comfortable with this approach since it pollute the library with library consumers demands (filters) [2] - Create additional Maven projects for all the specialized clients/projects, that will "wrap" the "my-lib" and generate the filtered jar artifacts (ex: my-lib-wrapper-pda-1.0 ...etc). As a result, these wrapper projects will include the filtering (to generate the filtered artifact) and will depend just on the "my-lib" project and the client projects will depend on my-lib-wrapper-xxx-1.0 instead of my-lib-1.0. This approach my look problematic since even that will let "my-lib" project intact (with no additional classifiers & artifacts), basically will double the number of projects since for every client project I'll have one just to collect the needed classes from the "my-util" library ("my-pda-app" project will need a "my-lib-wrapper-for-my-pda-app" project/dependency) [3] - Into the every client project that use the library (ex: my-pda-app) add some specialized Maven plugins to trim - out (when generating the final artifact/package) the un-needed classes (ex: maven-assembly-plugin, maven-jar-plugin, proguard-maven-plugin) What is the best practice for solving this kind of problems in the "Maven way" ?!
