  • Google Mock for iPhone development?

    - by Cliff
I have an interesting situation where I am refactoring a bunch of ObjC iPhone code to create a C++ API. I'm a novice to C++ and looking into C++ mocking frameworks to augment the work I'd done using OCUnit and poor man's mocks. I ran across googlemock and wanted to know if anyone has ever used it for iPhone development? Also, how can I share this (or mockpp) with other devs as it is an installable package and doesn't seem to lend itself to checking into a repository?

  • Looking for a free xsd scheme editor

    - by Klaim
I'm looking for a free alternative to all the XML/XSD editors around here (that are relatively expensive--at least for me). I totally fail to find one. I need it to allow me to edit xsd files to help in writting an xml-based language specification. I need it to be visual to help with the design, making it clear. Other features are less interesting for me. Any suggestion?

  • How does the "Unlimited Detail" graphics technology work?

    - by daddz
So I stumbled upon this "new" graphics engine/technology called Unlimited Detail. This seems to be pretty interesting granted it's real and not a fake. They have some videos explaining the technology but they only scratch the surface. What do you think about it? Is it programmatically possible? Or is it just a scam for investors?

  • Winforms for Mono on Mac, Linux and PC (Redux)

    - by yar
(I asked this question in another way, and got some interesting responses but I'm not too convinced.) Is Mono's GtkSharp truly cross-platform? It seems to be Gnome based... how can that work with PC and Mac? Can someone give me examples of a working Mac/PC/Linux app that is written with a single codebase in Microsoft .Net?

  • Ideas for student parallel programming project

    - by chi42
I'm looking to do a parallel programming project in C (probably using pthreads or maybe OpenMP) for a class. It will done by a group of about four students, and should take about 4 weeks. I was thinking it would be interesting to attack some NP-complete problem with a more complex algorithm like a genetic algo with simulated annealing, but I'm not sure if it would be a big enough project. Anyone knew of any cool problems that could benefit from a parallel approach?

  • vshost.exe file in Release folder?

    - by baal80
Why there is a appname.vshost.exe file generated for the release version of my application? I might add that I'm using an external dll library and some unsafe code. What's even more interesting, my application launched from Release folder does not work correctly (it works OK when launched from Debug folder). It's bit hard to explain - feel free to ask if you need more info.

  • What is Scriptol?

    - by Isaiah
While searching I came across this. It looks interesting but I have absolutely no idea of what it's for. I like it because you can compile to php, a language I don't enjoy a lot that's really useful. This could be a way I can use php without touching it. The language is odd looking, is there anyone out there who has tried it? Thanks

  • Which third party tools/library are available for NoSQL databases?

    - by Horcrux7
I know that NoSQL databases are very new. I am also new in this point. But exist already tools/libraries to make the life easer like for SQL databases? I think on tools for managing, maintaining, viewing or reporting of the data. There can also be libraries for easer working with the database or an abstract database layer to change the database later. I would prefer Java libraries but also other are interesting.

  • Who in the software world do you admire the most?

    - by David McGraw
In an effort to spark some discussion and to find interesting people that I didn't know about, is there anybody around the software industry that you really admire? Perhaps admire is the wrong choice of word, but I'm sure there is somebody out there that has impacted you in a minor way. What did you learn from this individual that defines what you try to achieve today?

  • Is there an OData Server Library for Java or PHP to EXPOSE OData?

    - by Rob
Hi, I am wondering if there is or why there isn't a ADO.NET Data Services Server Library for Java? I need to expose a database from a Java Server but i only see Microsot providing clients for java not server parts. How is that an open standard when you need .NET/Windows to expose it? Thanks for any pointers to that. Same interesting for PHP as well.
