  • jQuery .Ajax() function selector , store specific data in variable

    - by user279321
    I am new to jQuery and I have the following problem. My project has say 2 pages, 1.JSP and 2.html. Now I want to pick selected data from 2.html and use it on 1.JSP. Now this was achieved very easily using .load but I want the data to be present in a JavaScript variable rather than put it on the page (div tags, etc.), so that I can work upon that data (modify or add to database). I tried using .ajax and was able to write the following code: var value = (function () { var val = nulll; var filename = " 2.html"; $.ajax ({ 'async': false, 'global': false, 'url': filename, 'success' : function(data) { val = data; } }) return val; })() document.write(value) Where do I put the selector format (say div.id5) so that my variable have only relevant data rather than the full file data?

  • jQuery Autocomplete problem - Shift Key behaves same as Return Key

    - by user237005
    See: http://www.airbnb.com/ In the search bar, start typing "san f" (no quotes, all lowercase), then hit Return (or Enter). "San Francisco" is autocompleted. This is good! Now clear the search field and start over. type "San F" and boom - "San Francisco" is autocompleted as soon as you hit Shift. This is not expected. This happens in FF & Safari, but is untested elsewhere. I've looked through the jQuery Autocomplete Source Code and everything looks normal. Has anyone experienced this before?

  • jQuery, PHP, AJAX, "tu" variable beeing posted for no reason, shows in var_dump()

    - by Mattis
    A jQuery AJAX request .post()s data to page.php, which creates $res and var_dump()s it. $res: $res = array(); foreach ($_REQUEST as $key => $value) { if($key){ $res[$key] = $value; } } var_dump($res): array(4) { ["text1"]=> string(6) "mattis" ["text2"]=> string(4) "test" ["tu"]=> string(32) "deb6adbbff4234b5711cc4368c153bc4" ["PHPSESSID"]=> string(32) "cda24363cb9d3226bd37b2577ed0bc0b" } My javascript only sends text1 and text2: $.post("page.php",{ text1:"mattis", text2:"test" } What is the "tu" variable beeing sent? Apparantly it's very similar to the session id, but I've never seen it before. EDIT: It is sent in IE but not in FF.

  • jquery tooltip over dialog

    - by alemjerus
    I have a simple html multiline tooltip implementation: this.tooltip = function(tag) { xOffset = 10; yOffset = 20; $(tag + ".tooltip").hover(function(e){ this.t = this.title; this.title = ""; $("body").append("<p id='tooltip'>"+ this.t +"</p>"); $("#tooltip") .css("top",(e.pageY - xOffset) + "px") .css("left",(e.pageX + yOffset) + "px") .fadeIn("fast"); }, function(){ this.title = this.t; $("#tooltip").remove(); }); $(tag + ".tooltip").mousemove(function(e){ $("#tooltip") .css("top",(e.pageY - xOffset) + "px") .css("left",(e.pageX + yOffset) + "px"); }); }; It works perfectly on a page, but does not display a thing over jquery.ui.dialog. Is there a way to fix that?

  • get the response of a jquery ajax call as an input parameter of another function:

    - by Nauman Bashir
    Hello, Is it possible to make a jquery ajax call, and get the response as an input parameter of another function: here is an example, i have the following function call at a location: updateTips(validationTextObject,objUsers.fetchAvailable()); the objUsers.fetchAvailable() function makes a ajax call to the server. The callback function on successful call would be something like this. It is being used to process the result BHUsers.prototype.recvAvailable= function(response){ // some kind of processing over here return (response["status"] == "OK")? "Available" : "Not Available"; } I want that fuction to return the processed result which can be used as a parameter to the function updateTips The primary goal of this is to be able to do all of this for multiple scenarios, rather than writing multiple functions for the same call. Also i want the calling and the response processing functions to just do what they are doing. I dont want to add html objects into it. Any Clues?

  • jqGrid - how to change title based on colModel sortable property

    - by Greg
    When the mouse hovers over each column I'd like the tooltip to indicate whether that column is sortable. I am able to change the title attribute with something like this: $("#List .ui-th-column").each(function(i) { var isSortable = i % 2; $(this).attr('title', isSortable ? "Not Sortable" : "Click header to sort."); }); I'd like to replace the demo expression 'i % 2' with a check of the colMode's sortable property, but I can't figure out how to get the value of the colModel's sortable property. colModel: [ { name: 'Name', index: 'Name', width: 100, sortable: true }, { name: 'Note', index: 'Note', width: 200, sortable: false } ] I've tried .getGridParam and .getColProp but I don't think the syntax I'm using is correct.

  • jQuery - How to remove a DOM element BEFORE complete page load

    - by webfac
    Now this may seem like a silly question, but I need to know how to remove a DOM element BEFORE it is displayed to the user. In short, I am using a div that has a background image alerting the user to enable javascript before proceeding. If the user has javascript enabled I am using jQuery to remove the DOM element, in this case $(".check-js") which is the div housing the image. Using the conventional methods to unload DOM objects as follows does not work because it waits for the page load to complete, then removes the element, causing the image to flicker on and off each time the page loads: $(function(){ $(".check-js").css( {display:"none"} ) }) I simply want to remove the div if the user has js enabled, and he must never see this div. Any suggestions and I will be grateful, thanks.

  • jQuery Validation - Highlight Radio Labels Only

    - by Michael
    I'm trying to use jQuery validation to highlight the labels for my radio buttons only, and not the labels for my other inputs. I have a label for my radio button set called 'type'. I can't seem to get it to work! $(document).ready(function(){ $("#healthForm").validate({ highlight: function(element, errorClass) { $(element).addClass(errorClass) $(element.form).find("label[for='type']") .addClass("radioerror"); }, unhighlight: function(element, errorClass) { $(element).removeClass(errorClass) $(element.form).find("label[for='type']") .removeClass("radioerror"); }, errorPlacement: function(error, element) { } }); });

  • Aborting jQuery().load()

    - by Daniel I-S
    The .load() function of the jQuery library allows you to selectively load elements from another page (subject to certain rules). I would like to know whether it is possible to abort the load process. In our application, a user can browse a list of items. They may choose to click a button which loads and displays additional information about an item from another document (which can take some time). If they choose a different item in the list whilst a .load() is still happening, I would like the loading to be aborted. Is this possible? Is it even worth it? Any ideas? Dan

  • JQuery Ajax help

    - by mtwallet
    Hi. I am creating a portfolio page for m personal site. I have a slider with a bunch of anchors that relate to projects I have worked on, each one contains a client logo that when clicked should load a html page into a div on the same page. I would like to use JQuery to achieve this my question is which method would I use load() or ajax(). This is not something I have done before so I'm a little confused what the difference is. Also if it makes any difference to my question I will be making the site content managed with MODX very soon. Many thanks in advance.

  • Problem on IE6-8 with jQuery

    - by Alain Fontaine
    Hello guys, I'm stuck here with this IE6 issue.. always a pain. So I'm using jQuery's "live" feature to add a product each time. Then once each dropdown's value is changed, an input field assigned to it changes its value too so when I hit submit, it sends all the info. Everything works perfectly fine except in IE6, IE7, and IE8. I have no idea why... I've gone through the code and everything... so please guys. Help! :) These are all the files: Index.php http://pastie.org/967139 Submit.php http://pastie.org/967140 JS http://pastie.org/967141 Please guys, I'm really stuck here. I would appreciate some help. • JQuery Datatable Question: Centering column data after data insertion

    - by Chris
    I have a data table that is initially empty and is populated after a particular Javascript call. After the data is inserted into the table, I'd like to center all of the data in one of the columns. I tried specifying this at the initialization step in this way: dTable = $('#dt').datatable({ 'aoColumns': [ null, null, { "sClass" : "center" }] }); The data in the third column was not centered after the insertions were complete. I tried modifying aoColumns after the insertions and redrawing the table as well: dTable.fnSettings().aoColumns[2].sClass = "center"; dTable.fnDraw(); This did not work either. So my question is simply how should I go about telling the data table to center the data in the third column? Thanks in advance for your suggestions. Chris

  • Jquery Live Validation

    - by sico87
    Hello Everyone, After having a search around I could not find exactly what I want, I am looking to validate a form client side using the Jquery library and some form of validation plugin. I was hoping that some one could advise me on whether there are any validation plugins out there that do not use generic error messages, as my form is laid out with no room for these errors, and I also I want the validator to to for correct content as well. Basically I want to be able to check the field on each key press and blur and if the fields validates for it to gain a green border, and if it does not validate for it to gain a red border, any one know of a plugin that can do this? Thanks sico87

  • Need a jQuery Lightbox plugin that supports $.live() and grouping

    - by Throlkim
    I'm bringing in all of my images via Ajax, and I'm looking for a quick fix for the front-end of this project. I've tried a couple of jQuery lightbox plugins, but I can't seem to get them to perform in a live function (correct me if I'm wrong in thinking I need to do this). Currently attempting to use Balupton's Lightbox Plugin (can't link because of my being a new user), and after trying all of the examples to no avail, I've attempted it with this (also not working): $('a.lightbox-gallery').live('click', function(){ $(this).lightbox(); }); Any help is much appreciated!

    Hi there, I have got a hierarchichal tags (with parent child relationship) in my page and it will account to 500 - 4500 (can even grow). When i bound the draggable and droppable for all i saw very bad performance in IE7 and IE6. The custom helper wont move smoothly and was very very slow. Based on some other post i have made the droppable been bound/unbound on mouseover and mouseout events (dynamically). Its better now. But still i dont see the custom helper move very smoothly there is a gap between the mouse cursor and the helper when they move and gets very bad when i access the site from remote. Please help me to address this performance issue. Am totally stuck here.. :(

  • jQuery hover function

    - by Daniel Hertz
    So I have a hover function that is supposed to move an arrow under the corrent the link that someone hovers over. The problem is, the arrow never returns to the current link when the person stops hovering over the link. However, if I set the left properly with a constant value it works. Anyone have any ideas? var currentId = '#' + $('body').attr('id') + '_link'; var xCordCurrent = $(currentId).offset().left - ($('#arrow').width() / 2); var xCordHover = $(event.target).offset().left + ($(event.target).width() / 2) - ($('#arrow').width() / 2); $('#arrow').animate( { left: xCordHover }, { duration: 'slow', easing: 'easeOutBack' }) }, function(event) { $('#arrow').animate( { left: xCordCurrent }, { duration: 'slow', easing: 'easeOutBack' }) });

  • $().mouseMove <-- Empty selector in jQuery 1.4

    - by Matrym
    The following bit of code breaks in the upgrade to jquery 1.4: $().mousemove( function (e) { defaults.mouseX = e.pageX; defaults.mouseY = e.pageY; }); }; What appeared to be a reasonable fix was adding "html" as the selector, ex: $("html"). The fix works fine - except now when the user mouses off the page, it doesn't register the mouse position beyond the boundaries. When attempting to use the mouse position for a drag, for example, the amount of movement beyond the screen is really important. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks in advance.
