in software sources i see a lot of links that don't link to lanchpad.net http://deb.playonlinux.com/ oreiric main http://dl.google.com/linuxearth/deb/ stable main http://linux.dropbox.com/ubuntu precise main i was wondering: can i add a regular download link in my sources.list. here is what i mean to do. this is the download link for notepad++(an example) http://download.tuxfamily.org/notepadplus/6.1.3/npp.6.1.3.Installer.exe i wonder can i add this(or an other) link to download the latest version of notepad++(or any software for that matter) and every time there is a new version of notepad++ i can install the latest via update-manager. this is exactly when adding vlc(A example) in the sources.list. And when the software. has been downloaded to run a command like wine npp.6.1.3.Installer.exe /S /Silent for silent installation.

Gnome extensions stay in the list after being removed

I've got a little issue with gnome shell extensions. After installing some of them, I understood I didn't like them and decided to remove them. The extensions themselves (their folders in /home/username/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions) were deleted successfully. However, the deleted extensions were not removed from the list of installed extensions at extensions.gnome.org. They also were not removed from the list in gnome-tweak-tool. So now in my list I have a bunch of extensions that I have already deleted. The funny thing is that I can't reinstall them too, since both the gnome-tweak-tool and the website think they are still there. This isn't a big deal of course, but I find it to be a little annoying. Reinstalling gnome-tweak-tool didn't help. Is there a way to somehow update the status of installed extensions?

List of bounding boxes?

When I create a bounding box for each object in my chunk, would it be better to store them in a list? List<BoundingBox> cubeBoundingBox Or can I just use a single variable? BoundingBox cubeBoundingBox The bounding boxes will be used for all types of things so they will be moving around. In any case, I'd be adding it to a method that gets called 2500+ times for each chunk, so either I have a giant list of them or 2500+ individual boxes. Is there any advantage to using one or the other?

I have a list of events which is always sorted chronologically. The start time is always followed by the end time. Alternating links and slide down content on a list of sub sections

I have a page for a doctor's practice. In the summary page for the practice there is a list of subsections such as Women's, Men's, Children, Sport, etc. Some of these sub sections are very large, others can be a paragraph or more with a short unordered list. In terms of content volume, the large subsections warrant their own separate page, the smaller one's not so much. I created a little plugin which enables me to use the list of subsections in 2 ways. When clicking on the title of a larger section, you'll be sent through to it's own page. For the smaller sections, a slide down box will open with the information. Is this a good way to handle my information architecture? Should I be giving the smaller sub sections their own page for SEO purposes?

Algorithm for querying linearly through a non-linear list of questions

For a multiplayers trivia game, I need to supply my users with a new quizz in a desired subject (Science, Maths, Litt. and such) at the start of every game. I've generated about 5K quizzes for each subject and filled my database with them. And so on... (Much more detailed/complex but I'll keep the exemple simple) As you can see, due to technical constraints (MongoDB), my IDs are not linear but I can use them as an increasing suite. There is nothing, so I roll back to the beginning of my quizz list (with a random skipper to avoid having the first question always show up). P1 and P2's last played will then be 42 and they will start fresh from the beginning of the list. However, if P1 (42) plays against P3 (1042), the resulting ID will be 1056...which P1 already played two games ago. Basically, players who just "rolled back" to the beginning of the list will be brought back to the end of the list by players who still haven't rolled back. The rollback WILL happen in the end, but it'll take time and there'll be a "bottleneck" at the beginning and at the end. Thus my question: What would be the best algorith to avoid this bottleneck and ensure players don't get stuck endlessly on the same quizzes? Also bear in mind that I've got some technical constraints: I can't get a random question in a subject (ie: no "QuizzDB.findOne({subject: 'Maths'}).skip(random());"). It's cool to skip on one to twenty records, but the MongoDB documentation warns against skipping too many documents. I would like to avoid building an array of every quizz played by each player and find the next non-played in the database with a $nin. Thanks for your help

Android Home Screen Widget (icon, label - style)

I'm trying to create an icon/widget (1 cell x 1 cell) that can be placed on the home screen of android. The widget will look and act exactly like the other standard shortcuts in android. It will have an icon and under that a label, it will be selectable with the trackball (highlight able) it will be highlighted when it is selected/clicked. How do I go about creating this home screen widget? Do I have to create the widget myself using code/xml or is there some standard xml, style, theme, code that I can use to ensure that the widget will have the same style/theme as the other home screen widgets? CentOS 5.4 NFS v4 client file permissions differ from original files & NFS Share file contents

Having a strange problem with NFS share and file permissions on the 1 out of the 2 NFS clients, web1 has file permissions issues but web2 is fine. web1 and web2 are load balanced web servers. So questions are: how do I ensure NFS share file contents retain the same permissions for user/group as the original files on web1 server like they do on web2 server ? how do I reverse what I did on web1, i tried unmount command and said command not found ? Information: I'm using 3 dedicated server setup. All 3 servers CentOS 5.4 64bit based. servers are as follows: web1 - nfs client with file permissions issues web2 - nfs client file permissions are OKAY db1 - nfs share at /nfsroot web2 nfs client was setup by my web host, while web1 was setup by me. I did the following commands on web1 and it worked with updating db1 nfsroot share at /nfsroot/site_css with latest files on web1 but the file permissions don't stick even if i use tar with -p command to perserve file permissions ? cd /home/username/public_html/forums/script/ tar -zcp site_css/ > site_css.tar.gz mount -t nfs4 nfsshareipaddress:/site_css /home/username/public_html/forums/scripts/site_css/ -o rw,soft cd /home/username/public_html/forums/script/ tar -zxf site_css.tar.gz But checking on web1 file permissions no longer username user/group but owned by nobody ? but web2 file permissions correct ? This is only a problem for web1 while web2 is correct ? Looks like numeric ids aren't the same ? How do I style buttons in a LinearLayout like a ListView

I have a vertically orientated LinearLayout with some Buttons in it: <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:orientation="vertical"> <Button android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:id="@+id/bt1" android:text="Button 1"></Button> <Button android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:id="@+id/bt2" android:text="Button 2"></Button> <Button android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:id="@+id/bt3" android:text="Button 3"></Button> <Button android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:id="@+id/bt4" android:text="Button 4"></Button> </LinearLayout> and I want this "List" of buttons to inherit the current style for ListView items. This is my current status of the stylesheet. The CKButton style gets applied over the Activity Theme. <style name="CKButton" parent="android:style/Widget.Button"> <item name="android:textSize">21sp</item> <item name="android:layout_margin">0dip</item>  <item name="android:textColor">@color/button_text_normal</item> <item name="android:padding">10dip</item> <item name="android:gravity">left|center_horizontal</item> </style> As you see I tried to draw the button background myself, but depending on the system default theme the background-color changes and therefore defining a static color is not an option. Is there a way to inherit the default ListView Row background within that buttons?

403 error after adding javascript to masterpage for sharepoint.

I am attempting to add highslide-with-html.js from http://highslide.com/ to my masterpage. I am receiving a 403 forbidden error when I use the provided masterpage. I have placed it in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS\1033. Test javascript files such as pirate.js which consists solely of alert("Arr!"); have loaded from the same directory. I have provided the code for the masterpage. WPF ToolTip Style with dynamic LayoutTransform

I have an app that scales it's UI and I want to scale the ToolTips with it. I have tried doing this: <Style TargetType="{x:Type ToolTip}"> <Setter Property="LayoutTransform" Value="{DynamicResource scaleTransf}"/> ... </Style> ...where scaleTransf is a resource that I change via code: Application.Current.Resources["scaleTransf"] = new ScaleTransform(...); Most of the ToolTips do get scaled in size but some of them that are created by C# code don't get scaled. I've checked and it seems that I don't set their Style or LayoutTransform by code, so I don't really understand what is going wrong... Moreover, I have the impression that the above XAML code worked fine a few days ago. :( Is there sth I can do to make it work all the time without setting the LayoutTransform in code-behind? EDIT : The ToolTips that don't change scale are the ones that have become visible before. Defining InputBindings within a Style

I'm creating a WPF app using the MVVM design pattern, and I'm trying to extend the TabItem control so that it closes the tab when the user clicks the middle mouse button. I'm trying to achieve this using InputBindings, and it works very well until I try to define it within a style. I've learned that you cannot add InputBindings to a style unless you attach it using a DependencyProperty. So I followed this similar post here... and it works... almost. I can close one tab using the middle mouse button, but it won't work on any of the other tabs (all of the tabs are added at runtime and inherit the same style). So I need some help. Why would this only be working the first time, and not after? Obviously I could create a custom control that inherits from a TabItem and make it work, but I'd like to figure this out as I can see this being expanded in my projects. I'm no expert on DependencyProperties, so please help me out. Thanks! CentOS 5.4 NFS v4 client file permissions differ from original files & NFS Share file contents

Having a strange problem with NFS share and file permissions on the 1 out of the 2 NFS clients, web1 has file permissions issues but web2 is fine. web1 and web2 are load balanced web servers. So questions are: how do I ensure NFS share file contents retain the same permissions for user/group as the original files on web1 server like they do on web2 server ? how do I reverse what I did on web1, i tried unmount command and said command not found ? Information: I'm using 3 dedicated server setup. All 3 servers CentOS 5.4 64bit based. servers are as follows: web1 - nfs client with file permissions issues web2 - nfs client file permissions are OKAY db1 - nfs share at /nfsroot web2 nfs client was setup by my web host, while web1 was setup by me. I did the following commands on web1 and it worked with updating db1 nfsroot share at /nfsroot/site_css with latest files on web1 but the file permissions don't stick even if i use tar with -p command to perserve file permissions ? cd /home/username/public_html/forums/script/ tar -zcp site_css/ > site_css.tar.gz mount -t nfs4 nfsshareipaddress:/site_css /home/username/public_html/forums/scripts/site_css/ -o rw,soft cd /home/username/public_html/forums/script/ tar -zxf site_css.tar.gz But checking on web1 file permissions no longer username user/group but owned by nobody ? but web2 file permissions correct ? This is only a problem for web1 while web2 is correct ? Looks like numeric ids aren't the same ? issue with wpf datagrid cell style when scrolling

Hi I created a new DataGridCell style for my wpf datagrid (Red Border brush). When I scroll down vertically the selected cells disappear which is ok. When I scroll up I see the selected cells but few of them missing their style and it appear in wrong cells. It look like the data grid remember the selected cells but "forget" their style. Any idea? haim
