  • Macrium Reflect Recovery Linux Recovery Disc hangs up on booting

    I created an image of my system with macrium reflect freeware program and stored the image on an usb external hard drive. However the macrium reflect linux recovery disc on startup hangs up of the first three lines of instructions and therefore I cannot access the image on the usb external hard drive if I wish to recover my system. I have a Lenovo laptop with the Windows-7 Home Premium operating system. What can be done to ensure that the recovery disc will work?

  • Low framerate on background apps

    My problem is that when a game is running in the foreground, in Full Screen mode, any applications on my second monitor (such as youtube videos, videos, not app specific) drop their frame-rate to about 2-3 FPS. It seems like some sort of power management option that I can't track down. As far as I can tell, it's not due to the GPU not being able to keep up. For instance, my PC can play League of Legends at about 280FPS when the framerate is uncapped.   • How to convert or burn a .DMG image file on Windows?

    Does anyone have software they use frequently and can recommend to burn a mac created .DMG file on a windows operating system? Ideally free, or at least reasonably priced. Or an alternative application convert it to .ISO or something equivalent. I'm looking for reassurance I won't be wasting several (more expensive than normal DVDs) dual layer DVDs to get this done right. As the .DMG file is 7gig.

    I've got a copy of WinXP off of MSDNAA, with a key. I've mounted it to my CD-drive, and now I'm trying to make it in to a VM. The problem is, it seems that the thing is constantly trying to connect to a DHCP server, fails to connect and then decides no operating system was found. The file I got off MSDNAA was an .img file, so I had to mount it to a virtual CD drive. VmWare workstation comes with a Windows XP iso, tried that, also failed.

    This is my first attempt at virtualizing SQL server on VMWare and I want to make sure I am doing things correctly. Should I have SQL server installed on the C: drive / same partition as the OS, Then add a virtual disk for the Data files, say 300GB, and then another virtual disk for the log files say 100GB? Or should I add 2 300GB vdisks, for the data files mirror them in the operating system, and then add a non mirrored vdisk of 100GB for LogFiles??
