  • What are the packages/libraries I should install before compiling Python from source?

    Once in a while I need to install a new Ubuntu (I used it both for desktop and servers) and I always forget a couple of libraries I should have installed before compiling, meaning I have to recompile, and it's getting annoying. So now I want to make a complete list of all library packages to install before compiling Python (and preferably how optional they are). Off the top of my head I can remember these: build-essential (obviously) libz-dev (also pretty common and essential) libreadline-dev (or the Python prompt is crap) But I know there are many more. Please tell me and I'll update.

    I know you can add custom Document Properties in Excel 2007. see: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/excel/HA100475241033.aspx#5 But I thought there was a way to pull a value from a cell as a custom metadata property without code. Maybe I'm searching for it with the wrong terminology. Maybe it has to be done as a Named Range. I know this can be done. Anyone know how?

  • Help writing server script to ban IP's from a list

    I have a VPS that I use as an openvpn and web server. For some reason, my apache log files are filled with thousands of these hack attempts: "POST /xmlrpc.php HTTP/1.0" 404 395 These attack attempts fill up 90% of my logs. I think it's a WordPress vulnerability they're looking for. Obviously they are not successful (I don't even have Wordpress on my server), but it's annoying and probably resource consuming as well. I am trying to write a bash script that will do the following: Search the apache logs and grab the offending IP's (even if they try it once), Sort them into a list with each unique IP on a seperate line, And then block them using the IP table rules. I am a bash newb, and so far my script does everything except Step 3. I can manually block the IP's, but that's tedious and besides, this is Linux and it's perfectly capable of doing it for me. I also want the script to be customizable so that I (or anyone else who wants to use it) can change the variables to suit whatever situation I/they may deal with in the future.     With backlinkwatch.com I can get a list of pages that link to a particular website. Unfortunately, it lists tons of obscure blogs and small forums, it has hard to find what link is really important. Is there a similar service, where links would be displayed sorted by "importance"? For instance, a link New York Times would be shown at the top of the list, while links in small blogs would not appear before a few pages. "Importance" can be subjective, so I suggest using the PageRank, but other metrics could be fine too.

    As I understand it, a unique_ptr signifies exclusive ownership. A singly linked list seems to fit this, with each node owning the next, like (pseduocode alert) class node{ public: unique_ptr<node> next; int value; }; but I don't understand how to perform operations like traversing the list, where I'm used to doing here=here->next; How do you implement data structures using unique_ptr's? Are they the right tool for the job?

    Is there a equivalent of this command; yum list kernel-headers --showduplicates on Ubuntu with apt-get, apt-cache etc. The above command lists various versions of the kernel-headers rpm available on F20/RHEL or installations.     I want to databind to a collection property, such as Count. in general, when I data bind I specify data member for the object property in the collection, not for the actual properties collection itself exposes. for example, I have a list of custom objects. I show them in datagridview. but I also want to show their total count using a separate label. is there a way to do this through databinding? I imagine that somehow I need to force PropertyManager to be used, instead of CurrentyManager? I get the following exception. Notice that DataSource is collection and has TotalValue property. System.ArgumentException: Cannot bind to the property or column TotalValue on the DataSource.     Hi there I got a question about the behavior of lookup fields when importing data. I wonder how the lookup fields behave when the list they point to is being replaced/imported. To explain the issue, I will provide a quick example below: As example, assume we have these two sharepoint lists: Product Types ------------- + Type Name + Code Nr + etc Products -------- + Product Name + Product Type (Lookup field to list "Product Types") + etc In my scenario, the Products List contains production data on the production Sharepoint platform. It is filled with data by the business users. However the Product Types list contains rather static data and is maintained by the developer. Now after a development cycle, the developer wants to deploy his new webparts and his new data (product types list). The developer performs the following procedure: On the dev machine: Export "product type" list using stsadm On the production machine: Delete all items in the "product type" list On the production machine: Import the "product type" list using stsadm This means we basically replace the "product type" list on the production server while keeping the "product" list as it is. Now the question: Is this safe? Will the lookup references break under certain circumstances? Any downside of this import/export procedure? What happens if someone accesses a "product" during the import? Will the (now invalid) reference clear its own content (become a null value). What happens if the schema of the "product type" list changes (new column)? Will this cause any troubles? Thanks for all feedback and suggestions!

    I've got a grails 1.1 web app running great in development but when I try and run it in production with an sqlserver database it crashes in a weird way.     Hey guys, Perhaps I'm missing something real simple here, but I've been struggling to change the RTF property of my RichTextBox in order to apply some color coding to my text. Probably the most straight-forward example of the problem I'm having is setting the Rtf property to include a color table in its header. The default RTF string returned by the Rtf property: {\rtf1\ansi\ansicpg1252\deff0\deflang1033{\fonttbl{\f0\fnil\fcharset0 Microsoft Sans Serif;}}\viewkind4\uc1\pard\f0\fs17\par} And the new RTF string I'd like to set with my color table: {\rtf1\ansi\ansicpg1252\deff0\deflang1033{\fonttbl{\f0\fnil\fcharset0 Microsoft Sans Serif;}{\colortbl;\red128\green0\blue0;\red0\green128\blue0;\red0\green0\blue255;}}\viewkind4\uc1\pard\f0\fs17\par} And I set this using: RichTextBox richTextBox = new RichTextBox(); richTextBox.Rtf = rtfStr; // My new RTF string, as seen above. However, via debugger, it can be observed the that Rtf property stubbornly refuses to change; no exceptions are thrown, it just refuses to change. Same issue happens when I string.Replace() words to include RTF color tags around them. I've also tried turning off any ReadOnly properties on the text box. Any suggestions would be most helpful, thanks! Dave
