  • How do I get Java to parse and format a date/time with the same time zone? I keep getting the local timezone

    My application keeps all Java Date's in UTC. Parsing them is easy, but when I print them out, the display shows the computer's local time zone, and I want to show it as UTC. Example code: String sample = "271210 200157 UTC"; SimpleDateFormat dfmt = new SimpleDateFormat("ddMMyy HHmmss Z"); Date result = dfmt.parse(sample); System.out.printf("%tc\n", result); the result is Mon Dec 27 15:01:57 EST 2010 What I want is Mon Dec 27 20:01:57 UTC 2010 Clearly I have to set some Locale and TimeZone values, but I don't see where to put them.   • Using exponential smoothing with NaN values

    I have a sample of some kind that can create somewhat noisy output. The sample is the result of some image processing from a camera, which indicates the heading of a blob of a certain color. It is an angle from around -45° to +45°, or a NaN, which means that the blob is not actually in view. In order to combat the noisy data, I felt that exponential smoothing would do the trick. However, I'm not sure how to handle the NaN values. On the one hand, involving them in the math would result in a NaN average, which would then prevent any meaningful results. On the other hand, ignoring NaN values completely would mean that a "no-detection" scenario would never be reported. And just to complicate things, the data is also noisy in that it can get false NaN value, which ideally would be smoothed somehow to prevent random noise. Any ideas about how I could implement such an exponential smoother?

    How can I make my JTable show specific stuff for each column? Can I use an Object for more than one column?   • Invalid ADTS sampling_frequency_index and channel_configuration why?

    Hello all, I hope someone can direct me on the right path before I put a lot of time and effort on this. I'm currently trying to parse an AAC+ frame to get information such as number of channels and sample frequency. So it seems that we can simply get this information from the ADTS header but most of the time this information is inaccurate. So the question is: -Why is this data inaccurate? What is the meaning of the ADTS header channel and sample freq? Should I rely on it? -Should I parse further down the frame to get this information? FYI, the AAC+ raw data is coming from streaming servers... Thanks for the help! -Moto

    I have a project I am working on that requires the following : create a normalized sample rdbms (5 tables) using Java I entered 1 million rows of data to each table run two OLTP and two OLAP queries on the normalized tables. Denormalized tables. run the same OLTP and OLAP queries on them and compare time. What does OLAP query mean? I've searched the internet and all that I can find is that I have to make a cube, and apply queries on it. How can I write an OLAP query on a RDBMS? I have a sample : tables normalized(orders,product,customer,branch,sales) sales : order_id,product_id,quantity product : product_id,name,description,price,sales_tax customer : customer_id,f_name,l_name,tel_no,addr,nic,city branch : branch_id,name,tel_no,addr,city orders : order_id,customer_id,order_date,branch_id I want to write an OLAP query on the above tables.     Hi there I'm trying to implement a link list which stores the city name (though you will see this commented out as I need to resolve the issue of not being able to use string and needing to use a primitive data type instead during the declaration), longitude, latitude and of course a pointer to the next node in the chain.     Hey, I'm trying to grab my project and generate an Archetype from it via : archetype:create-from-project The thing is, that my project has src/main/java package structure com.sample.app, but the archetype must have it as I want (org.example.game) ... Ideally as user want when generating the project from archetype, but that is impossible I suppose. It would have to grab groupId and artifactId and generate archetype-resources/src/main/java based on this input. Anyway, that's why there is this argument I suppose : packageName mvn archetype:create-from-project -DpackageName=org.example.game But it doesn't work and there is still archetype-resources/src/main/java/org/sample/game ..

    Hi there I am not sure if the title has the correct terms, I have a developer and am very new to cubes. I have a cube which has data associated to materials that are broken down into chemical compounds. For example a rock material has 10% of this chemical and 10% of that chemical, etc. Samples are taken daily and sample is a dimension with date, etc. So, the measure needs to average by the sample dimension but needs to sum across the chemical compound dimension (To add up to 100% for example). Is this at all possible?

    I have FFmpeg installed on my linux web server. When I execute the following code, I have intermittent results. I think I have figured out that the MP3s do not compile when they have different bitrates. exec ('cat '. $pair['source_file'] . ' ' . $pair['translated_word_file'] . '>' . $temp_mp3); I might have found some articles online that reference taking them apart and then bundling them back together at a consistent bitrates. I have confirmed that this won't really work with basic "cat" function and that "sox" can be used IF they have the same sample rate. The issue now becomes "What is the best way to get them to the same sample rate?"

When i press on a button, it takes an URL from an array and re-loads the same webview. Now I need to do the flip book animation on it. Same webview should be reloaded. That is the webview should rotate around its own axis 180/360 degree while the loading of next url is going on. Is this possible?

    Hi, I posted this question on Three20 google group but did not get any response. So I thought I try this forum. I am using TTPhotoViewController to display photos. I am following sample code given in Three20 sample project: TTCatalog/PhotoTest1Controller.m. In my case some of the images are less than (320,480). The problem which I am facing is that when my image is 200*300 then TTPhotoViewController re-sizes it to full screen on load which distorts the image. I was wondering if there is a way to tell TTPhotoViewController to display image in its actual size and not to resize it. The only thing which I have changed is viewDidLoad function in PhotoTest1Controller.m.   • C# - .WAV Playback Randomly High Pitch

    For some reason, when a WAV file is played back using the snippet below, it randomly plays back screwy, like a high pitch noise. It doesn't happen all the time, just randomly. It seems to happen more often when it is played back more frequently. The WAV properties are below along with the code snippet I am using. WAV Properties: Bit Rate - 750kbps Audio Sample Size - 16 bit Channels - 1 (mono) Audio Sample Rate - 44kHz Audio Format - PCM Snippet: System.Media.SoundPlayer myPlayer = new System.Media.SoundPlayer(Captcha.Properties.Resources.sound1); myPlayer.Play(); Is this because of the way I am playing the file or the file itself?
