Let's suppose I have the following table in MySQL: City.........Country.....Restaurants Rome......Italy.............3032 Paris.......France........5220 I want to search for the city "Paris" and update the field "Restaurants" (replace 5220 with 5300).     Okay, I want to have an app that takes phone numbers from an online database and displays them in a table view. When the user is not online, I want them to still be able to see the numbers they already got from the database in the table view. If the user manages to go back online, the database updates the view. My question is, is this possible to do and if so, what's the best way to approach it? (bit of a newbie, please help me out)

    Hi, I'm trying to build a website that will allow user to upload video files and show them as a streaming video. I'm a complete newbie in the streaming world so I don't know exactly how to do that, and I definitely don't want to reinvent the wheel. Are there any free platforms that I can use for that? Do I need a streaming server, or is there a special kind of player I can use that does not require dedicated server? Thanks!

  • Doing a count over a filter query efficiently in django

    Hello, Django newbie here, I need to do a count over a certain filter in a django model. If I do it like so: my_model.objects.filter(...).count() I'm guessing it does the SQL query that retrieves all the rows and only afterwards does the count. To my knowledge it's much more efficient to do the count without retrieving those rows like so "SELECT COUNT(*) FROM ...". Is there a way to do so in django?

  • C Question: How to store data inside the executable file

    Hello all, complete newbie here, I need to find a way to store 250 KB of plain text numbers inside my program's executable file. Usually, I would put the data in a separate file and let the program read it while it is running, but that's not an option here. Instead, the program and the data need to be in one executable file. I have absolutely no idea how to do it (except writing 250.000 #defines :-) and I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thank you very much!

I'm trying to get my URLs to look like this: /Corporate/Users/Edit/1 /Corporate/Stores/Edit/17 /Corporate/Contacts/Edit/17 /Store/Contacts/Create /Store/Products/Edit/29 Pretty much like plain-vanilla urls, except with a user type at the front. I'm running into a lot of problems with duplicate controller names, etc. Is there a simple way to do this? I looked briefly at Areas, but this seemed way to complicated.

    I'm a newbie at networking. I understand the concept of multicast, but was wondering if it's reliable on the open/public internet? It seems like sort of an edge case that different backbones or ISPs might intentionally break to reduce router load or generally segment the network for practical high-use applications.   • CursorLoader, get URI for local database

    I'm a newbie android programmer and I recently followed a tutorial which shows how to create a local SQLite database by using SQLiteDatabase.rawQuery to return a Cursor. I would like to modify my app to use CursorLoader which is apparently a better way to access the database. My problem is the CursorLoader constructor expects a URI to be given. Do I just input "file:///[path to db]"? Seems a bit messy.

  • Parse contents of directory to bash command in a script

    I have the directory ~/fooscripts/ and inside there are foo1.txt, foo2.txt, etc etc I have a command that takes the file foo1.txt as input and does some calculation. The output location etc is handled internally in fooprog fooprog -user-data=foo1.txt I would like to automate the whole thing in a bash script so that the script will parse all txt files in ~/fooscripts/ sequentially. I am a newbie in bash. Could anyone give me a hint?
