  • getting all of the image absolute path in a page?

    - by ryanxu
    I am trying to get the src of all of the images in a page. But some pages use absolute paths and some do not. So I am wondering whats the best way to do this? right now I am using this. $imgsrc_regex = '#<\s*img [^\>]*src\s*=\s*(["\'])(.*?)\1#im'; preg_match_all($imgsrc_regex, $html, $matches);

  • jquery .find to get the text in a <li>

    - by Chris
    So I have a series of 2 nested ul's. When you click on the text (which is in an a tag) in the li, my page makes that editable and adds a save button. clicking the save button needs to give me back the new text inside that li and the id of that li. The id is not a problem. I'm trying to use jQuery's .find to select that anchor tag (which is successful) but i can't seem to get the text from it. Here is an example of the first list and it's sublists. <ul class='lists'> <li class='list1'> <a class='a list' id='list1'> List 1 Name</a> <img id='savelist1id' onClick="SaveName(this.parentNode.id)" src='save.jpg'> <ul class='list1subs'> <li class='sub1'> <a class='a sub' id='sub1id'> Sub 1 Name</a> <img id='savesub1id' onClick="SaveName(this.parentNode.id)" src='save.jpg'> </li> <li class='sub3'> <a class='a sub' id='sub2id'> Sub 2 Name</a> <img id='savesub2id' onClick="SaveName(this.parentNode.id)" src='save.jpg'> </li> <li class='sub2'> <a class='a sub' id='sub3id'> Sub 3 Name</a> <img id='savesub3id' onClick="SaveName(this.parentNode.id)" src='save.jpg'> </li> </ul> </li> </ul> Here's the code for identifying which save button you clicked. function SaveName(parentid){ $('li').find('a').each(function(){ if (this.id == parentid){ alert(this.id+' '+this.text) } } }); I am wanting this.text to show me the text inside the anchor tags. Help, please?

  • vertical align img

    - by JK36
    I have a div called "images" which has a width of 277px. Within that div I have 9 images in it, just stored as tags. I've got the images to float left and line up quite nicely within my div, but I would like the images to align vertically, as some are portrait and others are landscape. I know I can do this if I enclose each image in a div, but the plugin I use to launch the gallery won't recognise which image is being fired, so i need to enclose them as just within the tags. This is the code I have, if someone can help me just align the images horizontally and vertically. I don't want the images to be skewed. #images_box a { float:left; padding:9px; width: 70px; height: 70px; text-align: center; vertical-align: middle; display: table-cell; } my data <div id="images"> <a class="fancybox" rel="gallery1" href="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7069/7060779347_fbee5aae15_b.jpg" title="morning after[explored] (mariosworld343)"> <img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7069/7060779347_fbee5aae15_m.jpg" alt="" /> </a> <a class="fancybox" rel="gallery1" href="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7234/7047458501_46a2203733_b.jpg" title="Self confined... • Organizing github repository for java 6 and 7

    - by Edmon
    I am wanting to create a gihub repository that offers benchmarking code that works for concurrent features available only in JDK 1.7 (Fork/Join) as well as for older ones found in JDK 1.6. Offering both options is important for what I need. Does anyone have a recommendation how should I structure the repository. I was planning on having a repo called and under it: jdk17 build src mycode ... jdk16 build src mycode Please suggest any alternatives, possibly use of Maven or other more practical approaches, if any.

    Hi I have these lines in my html head section <script type="text/javascript" src="../behaviour/location.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="../behaviour/ajax.js"></script> When I use either in isolation, the code in the external files executes as expected. However, when I use both, I find that neither works correctly. What do I need to do to fix this?

  • PHP Array Not Working in Function

    - by lemonpole
    Hello all. I'm currently experimenting with arrays in PHP, and I created a fake environment where a team's information will be displayed. $t1 = array ( "basicInfo" => array ( "The Sineps", "December 25, 2010", "lemonpole" ), "overallRecord" => array (0, 0, 0, 0), "overallSeasons" => array ( 1 => array (14, 0, 0), 2 => array (9, 5, 2), 3 => array (12, 4, 0), 4 => array (3, 11, 2) ), "games" => array ( "<img src=\"images/cs.gif\" alt=\"Counter-Strike\" />", "<img src=\"images/cs.gif\" alt=\"Counter-Strike\" />", "<img src=\"images/cs.gif\" alt=\"Counter-Strike\" />", "<img src=\"images/cs.gif\" alt=\"Counter-Strike\" />" ), "seasonHistory" => array ( "Season I", "Season II", "Season III", "Season IV" ), "divisions" => array ( "Open", "Main", "Main", "Invite" ) ); // Displays the seasons the team has been in along // with the record of each season. function seasonHistory() { // Make array variable local-scope. global $t1; // Count the number of seasons. $numrows = count($t1["seasonHistory"]); // Loop through all the variables until // it reaches the last entry made and display // each item seperately. for($v = 0; $v <= $numrows; $v++) { // Echo each season. echo "<tr><td>{$t1["games"][$v]}</td>"; echo "<td>{$t1["seasonHistory"][$v]}</td>"; echo "<td>{$t1["divisions"][$v]}</td></tr>"; } } I have tested several possible problems out and after narrowing them down I have come down to one conclusion and that is my function is not connecting to the array for some reason. I don't know what else to do because I thought making the array global would fix that problem. What works: I can echo $t1["games"][0] on the page I need it to display and it gives me the content. I tried echo $t1["games"][0] INSIDE the function and then calling the function and it doesn't display anything.

  • scrollable banner using buttons and mouse scroller

    - by Psinyee

  • Add a fadein fade out in jQuery, on multiple conditional statements

    - by Matthew Harwood
    Task: On click of li navigation filter show and hide content with a transitional fadein fade out. Problem I'm just guessing and checking on where to place this fadein//fadeout transition. Furthermore, I feel like my code is too inefficiency because I'm using 4 conditional statements. Would stack lead me in creating a solution to improve the overall logic of this script so I can just make a pretty transition :c? LIVE CODE jQuery Script $(document).ready(function () { //attach a single click listener on li elements $('li.navCenter').on('click', function () { // get the id of the clicked li var id = $(this).attr('id'); // match current id with string check then apply filter if (id == 'printInteract') { //reset all the boxes for muliple clicks $(".box").find('.video, .print, .web').closest('.box').show(); $(".box").find('.web, .video').closest('.box').hide(); $(".box").find('.print').show(); } if (id == 'webInteract') { $(".box").find('.video, .print, .web').closest('.box').show(); $(".box").find('.print, .video').closest('.box').hide(); $(".box").find('.web').show(); } if (id == 'videoInteract') { $(".box").find('.video, .print, .web').closest('.box').show(); $(".box").find('.print, .web').closest('.box').hide() $(".box").find('.video').show(); } if (id == 'allInteract') { $(".box").find('.video, .print, .web').closest('.box').show(); } }); HTML Selected <nav> <ul class="navSpaces"> <li id="allInteract" class="navCenter"> <a id="activeAll" class="navBg" href="#"><div class="relativeCenter"><img src="asset/img/logo30px.png" /><h3>all</h3></div></a> </li> <li id="printInteract" class="navCenter"> <a id="activePrint" class="navBg" href="#"><div class="relativeCenter"><img src="asset/img/print.gif" /><h3>print</h3></div></a> </li> <li id="videoInteract" class="navCenter"> <a id="activeVideo" class="navBg" href="#"><div class="relativeCenter"><img src="asset/img/video.gif" /><h3>video</h3></div></a> </li> <li id="webInteract" class="navCenter"> <a id="activeWeb" class="navBg" href="#"><div class="relativeCenter"><img src="asset/img/web.gif" /><h3>web</h3></div></a> </li> </ul> ps.   • body onload cache not clearing

    - by Mad Cow
    I'm using an image swapping function generated by Dreamweaver to allow an image to change when moused over. The images are small. I have a problem because the images are getting stored in cache and without clearing it out I cant get the new images to show. It works on some browsers, but unfortunately not on all... I've read about putting "a random query" into the javascript to force the page to reload, but I dont know where to put it (the code was generated for me by dreamweaver). A subset of my code is : <script type="text/javascript"> function MM_preloadImages() { //v3.0 var d=document; if(d.images){ if(!d.MM_p) d.MM_p=new Array(); var i,j=d.MM_p.length,a=MM_preloadImages.arguments; for(i=0; i<a.length; i++) if (a[i].indexOf("#")!=0){ d.MM_p[j]=new Image; d.MM_p[j++].src=a[i];}} } function MM_swapImgRestore() { //v3.0 var i,x,a=document.MM_sr; for(i=0;a&&i<a.length&&(x=a[i])&&x.oSrc;i++) x.src=x.oSrc; } function MM_findObj(n, d) { //v4.01 var p,i,x; if(!d) d=document; if((p=n.indexOf("?"))>0&&parent.frames.length) { d=parent.frames[n.substring(p+1)].document; n=n.substring(0,p);} if(!(x=d[n])&&d.all) x=d.all[n]; for (i=0;!x&&i<d.forms.length;i++) x=d.forms[i][n]; for(i=0;!x&&d.layers&&i<d.layers.length;i++) x=MM_findObj(n,d.layers[i].document); if(!x && d.getElementById) x=d.getElementById(n); return x; } function MM_swapImage() { //v3.0 var i,j=0,x,a=MM_swapImage.arguments; document.MM_sr=new Array; for(i=0;i<(a.length-2);i+=3) if ((x=MM_findObj(a[i]))!=null){document.MM_sr[j++]=x; if(!x.oSrc) x.oSrc=x.src; x.src=a[i+2];} } </script> </head> <body onload="MM_preloadImages('../images/navigation/social-about-us-over.jpg','../images/navigation/social-about-us.jpg','../images/navigation/social-activities-over.jpg','../images/navigation/social-ourservices-over.jpg','../images/navigation/social-howwework-over.jpg','../images/navigation/social-fundraising-over.jpg','../images/navigation/social-howtohelp-over.jpg','../images/navigation/social-contactus-over.jpg')"> My website is http://www.clockhouse.org.uk/ I'm sure there is a better way i could have written this, but if anyone can help me fix this code I'd be very grateful Many thanks

  • IE is doing strange things with JQuery

    - by Syncopated
    So ... The thing is, the code works in FireFox, no problems. But when I open the same page, it gives me the following error: "Undefined is null or not an object." But when I copy the code to a localhost page, it works fine. Also when I clear my cache in IE it works, but only once, if I refresh after that one load, it gives me the same error. Here is the code: <script type="text/javascript" src="datepicker/js/jquery-1.4.2.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> var count3 = 0; var count5 = 0; var count2 = 0; var count4 = 0; $(document).ready(function(){ $('#switch3').click(function(){ $('#switchDiv3').slideToggle(350); if(count3 == 0){ count3 = 1; document.getElementById('switchImage3').src = "images/ArrowDown.png"; return; } else { count3 = 0; document.getElementById('switchImage3').src = "images/ArrowRight.png"; return; } }); ... (this is the code for each item that is generated) </script> And the code that determines the div that should hide: <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" align="center"> <tr> <td width="20" align="center" valign="top" style="padding-right: 3px"> <a style="cursor: pointer;" id="switch3"><img width="20" height="20" src="images/ArrowRight.png" id="switchImage3" style="border-style: solid; border-width: 1px; border-color: black;"/></a> </td> <td> <div id="switchDiv3"> <div align="left"> (Contents of the div here) </div> </div> </td> </tr> </table> Any help is appreciated!   • Introduction to the ASP.NET Web API

    - by Stephen.Walther
    I am a huge fan of Ajax. If you want to create a great experience for the users of your website – regardless of whether you are building an ASP.NET MVC or an ASP.NET Web Forms site — then you need to use Ajax. Otherwise, you are just being cruel to your customers. We use Ajax extensively in several of the ASP.NET applications that my company, Superexpert.com, builds. We expose data from the server as JSON and use jQuery to retrieve and update that data from the browser. One challenge, when building an ASP.NET website, is deciding on which technology to use to expose JSON data from the server. For example, how do you expose a list of products from the server as JSON so you can retrieve the list of products with jQuery? You have a number of options (too many options) including ASMX Web services, WCF Web Services, ASHX Generic Handlers, WCF Data Services, and MVC controller actions. Fortunately, the world has just been simplified. With the release of ASP.NET 4 Beta, Microsoft has introduced a new technology for exposing JSON from the server named the ASP.NET Web API. You can use the ASP.NET Web API with both ASP.NET MVC and ASP.NET Web Forms applications. The goal of this blog post is to provide you with a brief overview of the features of the new ASP.NET Web API. You learn how to use the ASP.NET Web API to retrieve, insert, update, and delete database records with jQuery. We also discuss how you can perform form validation when using the Web API and use OData when using the Web API. Creating an ASP.NET Web API Controller The ASP.NET Web API exposes JSON data through a new type of controller called an API controller. You can add an API controller to an existing ASP.NET MVC 4 project through the standard Add Controller dialog box. Right-click your Controllers folder and select Add, Controller. In the dialog box, name your controller MovieController and select the Empty API controller template: A brand new API controller looks like this: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Net.Http; using System.Web.Http; namespace MyWebAPIApp.Controllers { public class MovieController : ApiController { } } An API controller, unlike a standard MVC controller, derives from the base ApiController class instead of the base Controller class. Using jQuery to Retrieve, Insert, Update, and Delete Data Let’s create an Ajaxified Movie Database application. We’ll retrieve, insert, update, and delete movies using jQuery with the MovieController which we just created. Our Movie model class looks like this: namespace MyWebAPIApp.Models { public class Movie { public int Id { get; set; } public string Title { get; set; } public string Director { get; set; } } } Our application will consist of a single HTML page named Movies.html. We’ll place all of our jQuery code in the Movies.html page. Getting a Single Record with the ASP.NET Web API To support retrieving a single movie from the server, we need to add a Get method to our API controller: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Net; using System.Net.Http; using System.Web.Http; using MyWebAPIApp.Models; namespace MyWebAPIApp.Controllers { public class MovieController : ApiController { public Movie GetMovie(int id) { // Return movie by id if (id == 1) { return new Movie { Id = 1, Title = "Star Wars", Director = "Lucas" }; } // Otherwise, movie was not found throw new HttpResponseException(HttpStatusCode.NotFound); } } } In the code above, the GetMovie() method accepts the Id of a movie. If the Id has the value 1 then the method returns the movie Star Wars. Otherwise, the method throws an exception and returns 404 Not Found HTTP status code. After building your project, you can invoke the MovieController.GetMovie() method by entering the following URL in your web browser address bar: http://localhost:[port]/api/movie/1 (You’ll need to enter the correct randomly generated port). In the URL api/movie/1, the first “api” segment indicates that this is a Web API route. The “movie” segment indicates that the MovieController should be invoked. You do not specify the name of the action. Instead, the HTTP method used to make the request – GET, POST, PUT, DELETE — is used to identify the action to invoke. The ASP.NET Web API uses different routing conventions than normal ASP.NET MVC controllers. When you make an HTTP GET request then any API controller method with a name that starts with “GET” is invoked. So, we could have called our API controller action GetPopcorn() instead of GetMovie() and it would still be invoked by the URL api/movie/1. The default route for the Web API is defined in the Global.asax file and it looks like this: routes.MapHttpRoute( name: "DefaultApi", routeTemplate: "api/{controller}/{id}", defaults: new { id = RouteParameter.Optional } ); We can invoke our GetMovie() controller action with the jQuery code in the following HTML page: <!DOCTYPE html> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <title>Get Movie</title> </head> <body> <div> Title: <span id="title"></span> </div> <div> Director: <span id="director"></span> </div> <script type="text/javascript" src="Scripts/jquery-1.6.2.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> getMovie(1, function (movie) { $("#title").html(movie.Title); $("#director").html(movie.Director); }); function getMovie(id, callback) { $.ajax({ url: "/api/Movie", data: { id: id }, type: "GET", contentType: "application/json;charset=utf-8", statusCode: { 200: function (movie) { callback(movie); }, 404: function () { alert("Not Found!"); } } }); } </script> </body> </html> In the code above, the jQuery $.ajax() method is used to invoke the GetMovie() method. Notice that the Ajax call handles two HTTP response codes. When the GetMove() method successfully returns a movie, the method returns a 200 status code. In that case, the details of the movie are displayed in the HTML page. Otherwise, if the movie is not found, the GetMovie() method returns a 404 status code. In that case, the page simply displays an alert box indicating that the movie was not found (hopefully, you would implement something more graceful in an actual application). You can use your browser’s Developer Tools to see what is going on in the background when you open the HTML page (hit F12 in the most recent version of most browsers). For example, you can use the Network tab in Google Chrome to see the Ajax request which invokes the GetMovie() method: Getting a Set of Records with the ASP.NET Web API Let’s modify our Movie API controller so that it returns a collection of movies. The following Movie controller has a new ListMovies() method which returns a (hard-coded) collection of movies: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Net; using System.Net.Http; using System.Web.Http; using MyWebAPIApp.Models; namespace MyWebAPIApp.Controllers { public class MovieController : ApiController { public IEnumerable<Movie> ListMovies() { return new List<Movie> { new Movie {Id=1, Title="Star Wars", Director="Lucas"}, new Movie {Id=1, Title="King Kong", Director="Jackson"}, new Movie {Id=1, Title="Memento", Director="Nolan"} }; } } } Because we named our action ListMovies(), the default Web API route will never match it. Therefore, we need to add the following custom route to our Global.asax file (at the top of the RegisterRoutes() method): routes.MapHttpRoute( name: "ActionApi", routeTemplate: "api/{controller}/{action}/{id}", defaults: new { id = RouteParameter.Optional } ); This route enables us to invoke the ListMovies() method with the URL /api/movie/listmovies. Now that we have exposed our collection of movies from the server, we can retrieve and display the list of movies using jQuery in our HTML page: <!DOCTYPE html> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <title>List Movies</title> </head> <body> <div id="movies"></div> <script type="text/javascript" src="Scripts/jquery-1.6.2.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> listMovies(function (movies) { var strMovies=""; $.each(movies, function (index, movie) { strMovies += "<div>" + movie.Title + "</div>"; }); $("#movies").html(strMovies); }); function listMovies(callback) { $.ajax({ url: "/api/Movie/ListMovies", data: {}, type: "GET", contentType: "application/json;charset=utf-8", }).then(function(movies){ callback(movies); }); } </script> </body> </html>     Inserting a Record with the ASP.NET Web API Now let’s modify our Movie API controller so it supports creating new records: public HttpResponseMessage<Movie> PostMovie(Movie movieToCreate) { // Add movieToCreate to the database and update primary key movieToCreate.Id = 23; // Build a response that contains the location of the new movie var response = new HttpResponseMessage<Movie>(movieToCreate, HttpStatusCode.Created); var relativePath = "/api/movie/" + movieToCreate.Id; response.Headers.Location = new Uri(Request.RequestUri, relativePath); return response; } The PostMovie() method in the code above accepts a movieToCreate parameter. We don’t actually store the new movie anywhere. In real life, you will want to call a service method to store the new movie in a database. When you create a new resource, such as a new movie, you should return the location of the new resource. In the code above, the URL where the new movie can be retrieved is assigned to the Location header returned in the PostMovie() response. Because the name of our method starts with “Post”, we don’t need to create a custom route. The PostMovie() method can be invoked with the URL /Movie/PostMovie – just as long as the method is invoked within the context of a HTTP POST request. The following HTML page invokes the PostMovie() method. <!DOCTYPE html> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <title>Create Movie</title> </head> <body> <script type="text/javascript" src="Scripts/jquery-1.6.2.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> var movieToCreate = { title: "The Hobbit", director: "Jackson" }; createMovie(movieToCreate, function (newMovie) { alert("New movie created with an Id of " + newMovie.Id); }); function createMovie(movieToCreate, callback) { $.ajax({ url: "/api/Movie", data: JSON.stringify( movieToCreate ), type: "POST", contentType: "application/json;charset=utf-8", statusCode: { 201: function (newMovie) { callback(newMovie); } } }); } </script> </body> </html> This page creates a new movie (the Hobbit) by calling the createMovie() method. The page simply displays the Id of the new movie: The HTTP Post operation is performed with the following call to the jQuery $.ajax() method: $.ajax({ url: "/api/Movie", data: JSON.stringify( movieToCreate ), type: "POST", contentType: "application/json;charset=utf-8", statusCode: { 201: function (newMovie) { callback(newMovie); } } }); Notice that the type of Ajax request is a POST request. This is required to match the PostMovie() method. Notice, furthermore, that the new movie is converted into JSON using JSON.stringify(). The JSON.stringify() method takes a JavaScript object and converts it into a JSON string. Finally, notice that success is represented with a 201 status code. The HttpStatusCode.Created value returned from the PostMovie() method returns a 201 status code. Updating a Record with the ASP.NET Web API Here’s how we can modify the Movie API controller to support updating an existing record. In this case, we need to create a PUT method to handle an HTTP PUT request: public void PutMovie(Movie movieToUpdate) { if (movieToUpdate.Id == 1) { // Update the movie in the database return; } // If you can't find the movie to update throw new HttpResponseException(HttpStatusCode.NotFound); } Unlike our PostMovie() method, the PutMovie() method does not return a result. The action either updates the database or, if the movie cannot be found, returns an HTTP Status code of 404. The following HTML page illustrates how you can invoke the PutMovie() method: <!DOCTYPE html> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <title>Put Movie</title> </head> <body> <script type="text/javascript" src="Scripts/jquery-1.6.2.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> var movieToUpdate = { id: 1, title: "The Hobbit", director: "Jackson" }; updateMovie(movieToUpdate, function () { alert("Movie updated!"); }); function updateMovie(movieToUpdate, callback) { $.ajax({ url: "/api/Movie", data: JSON.stringify(movieToUpdate), type: "PUT", contentType: "application/json;charset=utf-8", statusCode: { 200: function () { callback(); }, 404: function () { alert("Movie not found!"); } } }); } </script> </body> </html> Deleting a Record with the ASP.NET Web API Here’s the code for deleting a movie: public HttpResponseMessage DeleteMovie(int id) { // Delete the movie from the database // Return status code return new HttpResponseMessage(HttpStatusCode.NoContent); } This method simply deletes the movie (well, not really, but pretend that it does) and returns a No Content status code (204). The following page illustrates how you can invoke the DeleteMovie() action: <!DOCTYPE html> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <title>Delete Movie</title> </head> <body> <script type="text/javascript" src="Scripts/jquery-1.6.2.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> deleteMovie(1, function () { alert("Movie deleted!"); }); function deleteMovie(id, callback) { $.ajax({ url: "/api/Movie", data: JSON.stringify({id:id}), type: "DELETE", contentType: "application/json;charset=utf-8", statusCode: { 204: function () { callback(); } } }); } </script> </body> </html> Performing Validation How do you perform form validation when using the ASP.NET Web API? Because validation in ASP.NET MVC is driven by the Default Model Binder, and because the Web API uses the Default Model Binder, you get validation for free. Let’s modify our Movie class so it includes some of the standard validation attributes: using System.ComponentModel.DataAnnotations; namespace MyWebAPIApp.Models { public class Movie { public int Id { get; set; } [Required(ErrorMessage="Title is required!")] [StringLength(5, ErrorMessage="Title cannot be more than 5 characters!")] public string Title { get; set; } [Required(ErrorMessage="Director is required!")] public string Director { get; set; } } } In the code above, the Required validation attribute is used to make both the Title and Director properties required. The StringLength attribute is used to require the length of the movie title to be no more than 5 characters. Now let’s modify our PostMovie() action to validate a movie before adding the movie to the database: public HttpResponseMessage PostMovie(Movie movieToCreate) { // Validate movie if (!ModelState.IsValid) { var errors = new JsonArray(); foreach (var prop in ModelState.Values) { if (prop.Errors.Any()) { errors.Add(prop.Errors.First().ErrorMessage); } } return new HttpResponseMessage<JsonValue>(errors, HttpStatusCode.BadRequest); } // Add movieToCreate to the database and update primary key movieToCreate.Id = 23; // Build a response that contains the location of the new movie var response = new HttpResponseMessage<Movie>(movieToCreate, HttpStatusCode.Created); var relativePath = "/api/movie/" + movieToCreate.Id; response.Headers.Location = new Uri(Request.RequestUri, relativePath); return response; } If ModelState.IsValid has the value false then the errors in model state are copied to a new JSON array. Each property – such as the Title and Director property — can have multiple errors. In the code above, only the first error message is copied over. The JSON array is returned with a Bad Request status code (400 status code). The following HTML page illustrates how you can invoke our modified PostMovie() action and display any error messages: <!DOCTYPE html> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <title>Create Movie</title> </head> <body> <script type="text/javascript" src="Scripts/jquery-1.6.2.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> var movieToCreate = { title: "The Hobbit", director: "" }; createMovie(movieToCreate, function (newMovie) { alert("New movie created with an Id of " + newMovie.Id); }, function (errors) { var strErrors = ""; $.each(errors, function(index, err) { strErrors += "*" + err + "\n"; }); alert(strErrors); } ); function createMovie(movieToCreate, success, fail) { $.ajax({ url: "/api/Movie", data: JSON.stringify(movieToCreate), type: "POST", contentType: "application/json;charset=utf-8", statusCode: { 201: function (newMovie) { success(newMovie); }, 400: function (xhr) { var errors = JSON.parse(xhr.responseText); fail(errors); } } }); } </script> </body> </html> The createMovie() function performs an Ajax request and handles either a 201 or a 400 status code from the response. If a 201 status code is returned then there were no validation errors and the new movie was created. If, on the other hand, a 400 status code is returned then there was a validation error. The validation errors are retrieved from the XmlHttpRequest responseText property. The error messages are displayed in an alert: (Please don’t use JavaScript alert dialogs to display validation errors, I just did it this way out of pure laziness) This validation code in our PostMovie() method is pretty generic. There is nothing specific about this code to the PostMovie() method. In the following video, Jon Galloway demonstrates how to create a global Validation filter which can be used with any API controller action: http://www.asp.net/web-api/overview/web-api-routing-and-actions/video-custom-validation His validation filter looks like this: using System.Json; using System.Linq; using System.Net; using System.Net.Http; using System.Web.Http.Controllers; using System.Web.Http.Filters; namespace MyWebAPIApp.Filters { public class ValidationActionFilter:ActionFilterAttribute { public override void OnActionExecuting(HttpActionContext actionContext) { var modelState = actionContext.ModelState; if (!modelState.IsValid) { dynamic errors = new JsonObject(); foreach (var key in modelState.Keys) { var state = modelState[key]; if (state.Errors.Any()) { errors[key] = state.Errors.First().ErrorMessage; } } actionContext.Response = new HttpResponseMessage<JsonValue>(errors, HttpStatusCode.BadRequest); } } } } And you can register the validation filter in the Application_Start() method in the Global.asax file like this: GlobalConfiguration.Configuration.Filters.Add(new ValidationActionFilter()); After you register the Validation filter, validation error messages are returned from any API controller action method automatically when validation fails. You don’t need to add any special logic to any of your API controller actions to take advantage of the filter. Querying using OData The OData protocol is an open protocol created by Microsoft which enables you to perform queries over the web. The official website for OData is located here: http://odata.org For example, here are some of the query options which you can use with OData: · $orderby – Enables you to retrieve results in a certain order. · $top – Enables you to retrieve a certain number of results. · $skip – Enables you to skip over a certain number of results (use with $top for paging). · $filter – Enables you to filter the results returned. The ASP.NET Web API supports a subset of the OData protocol. You can use all of the query options listed above when interacting with an API controller. The only requirement is that the API controller action returns its data as IQueryable. For example, the following Movie controller has an action named GetMovies() which returns an IQueryable of movies: public IQueryable<Movie> GetMovies() { return new List<Movie> { new Movie {Id=1, Title="Star Wars", Director="Lucas"}, new Movie {Id=2, Title="King Kong", Director="Jackson"}, new Movie {Id=3, Title="Willow", Director="Lucas"}, new Movie {Id=4, Title="Shrek", Director="Smith"}, new Movie {Id=5, Title="Memento", Director="Nolan"} }.AsQueryable(); } If you enter the following URL in your browser: /api/movie?$top=2&$orderby=Title Then you will limit the movies returned to the top 2 in order of the movie Title. You will get the following results: By using the $top option in combination with the $skip option, you can enable client-side paging. For example, you can use $top and $skip to page through thousands of products, 10 products at a time. The $filter query option is very powerful. You can use this option to filter the results from a query. Here are some examples: Return every movie directed by Lucas: /api/movie?$filter=Director eq ‘Lucas’ Return every movie which has a title which starts with ‘S’: /api/movie?$filter=startswith(Title,’S') Return every movie which has an Id greater than 2: /api/movie?$filter=Id gt 2 The complete documentation for the $filter option is located here: http://www.odata.org/developers/protocols/uri-conventions#FilterSystemQueryOption Summary The goal of this blog entry was to provide you with an overview of the new ASP.NET Web API introduced with the Beta release of ASP.NET 4. In this post, I discussed how you can retrieve, insert, update, and delete data by using jQuery with the Web API. I also discussed how you can use the standard validation attributes with the Web API. You learned how to return validation error messages to the client and display the error messages using jQuery. Finally, we briefly discussed how the ASP.NET Web API supports the OData protocol. For example, you learned how to filter records returned from an API controller action by using the $filter query option. I’m excited about the new Web API. This is a feature which I expect to use with almost every ASP.NET application which I build in the future.

  • Introduction to the ASP.NET Web API

The following HTML page illustrates how you can invoke our modified PostMovie() action and display any error messages: <!DOCTYPE html> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <title>Create Movie</title> </head> <body> <script type="text/javascript" src="Scripts/jquery-1.6.2.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> var movieToCreate = { title: "The Hobbit", director: "" }; createMovie(movieToCreate, function (newMovie) { alert("New movie created with an Id of " + newMovie.Id); }, function (errors) { var strErrors = ""; $.each(errors, function(index, err) { strErrors += "*" + err + "n"; }); alert(strErrors); } ); function createMovie(movieToCreate, success, fail) { $.ajax({ url: "/api/Movie", data: JSON.stringify(movieToCreate), type: "POST", contentType: "application/json;charset=utf-8", statusCode: { 201: function (newMovie) { success(newMovie); }, 400: function (xhr) { var errors = JSON.parse(xhr.responseText); fail(errors); } } }); } </script> </body> </html> The createMovie() function performs an Ajax request and handles either a 201 or a 400 status code from the response.

  • Cisco VPN Client dropping connection

    - by IT Team
    Using Windows XP and Cisco VPN client version 5.0.4.xxx to connect to a remote customer site. We are able to establish the connection and start an RDP session, but within 1-2 minutes the connection drops and the VPN connection disconnects. The PC making the connection is on a DMZ which is NATed to a public IP address. If we move the PC directly onto the internet without being on the DMZ the connection works and we don't encounter any disconnects. We use a PIX 515E running 7.2.4 and don't have any problems with similar setups connecting to other customer sites from the DMZ. The VPN setup on the client side is pretty basic, using IPSec over TCP port 10000. Not sure what device they are using on the peer, but my guess would be an ASA. Any idea as to what the problem would be? Below is the logs from the VPN client when the problem occurs. The real IP address has been changed to: RemotePeerIP. 4 14:39:30.593 09/23/09 Sev=Info/4 CM/0x63100024 Attempt connection with server "RemotePeerIP" 5 14:39:30.593 09/23/09 Sev=Info/6 CM/0x6310002F Allocated local TCP port 1942 for TCP connection. 6 14:39:30.796 09/23/09 Sev=Info/4 IPSEC/0x63700008 IPSec driver successfully started 7 14:39:30.796 09/23/09 Sev=Info/4 IPSEC/0x63700014 Deleted all keys 8 14:39:30.796 09/23/09 Sev=Info/6 IPSEC/0x6370002C Sent 256 packets, 0 were fragmented. 9 14:39:30.796 09/23/09 Sev=Info/6 IPSEC/0x63700020 TCP SYN sent to RemotePeerIP, src port 1942, dst port 10000 10 14:39:30.796 09/23/09 Sev=Info/6 IPSEC/0x6370001C TCP SYN-ACK received from RemotePeerIP, src port 10000, dst port 1942 11 14:39:30.796 09/23/09 Sev=Info/6 IPSEC/0x63700021 TCP ACK sent to RemotePeerIP, src port 1942, dst port 10000 12 14:39:30.796 09/23/09 Sev=Warning/3 IPSEC/0xA370001C Bad cTCP trailer, Rsvd 26984, Magic# 63697672h, trailer len 101, MajorVer 13, MinorVer 10 13 14:39:30.796 09/23/09 Sev=Info/4 CM/0x63100029 TCP connection established on port 10000 with server "RemotePeerIP" 14 14:39:31.296 09/23/09 Sev=Info/4 CM/0x63100024 Attempt connection with server "RemotePeerIP" 15 14:39:31.296 09/23/09 Sev=Info/6 IKE/0x6300003B Attempting to establish a connection with RemotePeerIP. 16 14:39:31.296 09/23/09 Sev=Info/4 IKE/0x63000013 SENDING ISAKMP OAK AG (SA, KE, NON, ID, VID(Xauth), VID(dpd), VID(Frag), VID(Unity)) to RemotePeerIP 17 14:39:36.296 09/23/09 Sev=Info/4 IKE/0x63000021 Retransmitting last packet! 18 14:39:36.296 09/23/09 Sev=Info/4 IKE/0x63000013 SENDING ISAKMP OAK AG (Retransmission) to RemotePeerIP 19 14:39:41.296 09/23/09 Sev=Info/4 IKE/0x63000021 Retransmitting last packet! 20 14:39:41.296 09/23/09 Sev=Info/4 IKE/0x63000013 SENDING ISAKMP OAK AG (Retransmission) to RemotePeerIP 21 14:39:46.296 09/23/09 Sev=Info/4 IKE/0x63000021 Retransmitting last packet! 22 14:39:46.296 09/23/09 Sev=Info/4 IKE/0x63000013 SENDING ISAKMP OAK AG (Retransmission) to RemotePeerIP 23 14:39:51.328 09/23/09 Sev=Info/4 IKE/0x63000017 Marking IKE SA for deletion (I_Cookie=AEFC3FFF0405BBD6 R_Cookie=0000000000000000) reason = DEL_REASON_PEER_NOT_RESPONDING 24 14:39:51.828 09/23/09 Sev=Info/4 IKE/0x6300004B Discarding IKE SA negotiation (I_Cookie=AEFC3FFF0405BBD6 R_Cookie=0000000000000000) reason = DEL_REASON_PEER_NOT_RESPONDING 25 14:39:51.828 09/23/09 Sev=Info/4 CM/0x63100014 Unable to establish Phase 1 SA with server "RemotePeerIP" because of "DEL_REASON_PEER_NOT_RESPONDING" 26 14:39:51.828 09/23/09 Sev=Info/5 CM/0x63100025 Initializing CVPNDrv 27 14:39:51.828 09/23/09 Sev=Info/4 CM/0x6310002D Resetting TCP connection on port 10000 28 14:39:51.828 09/23/09 Sev=Info/6 CM/0x63100030 Removed local TCP port 1942 for TCP connection. 29 14:39:51.828 09/23/09 Sev=Info/6 CM/0x63100046 Set tunnel established flag in registry to 0. 30 14:39:51.828 09/23/09 Sev=Info/4 IKE/0x63000001 IKE received signal to terminate VPN connection 31 14:39:52.328 09/23/09 Sev=Info/6 IPSEC/0x63700023 TCP RST sent to RemotePeerIP, src port 1942, dst port 10000 32 14:39:52.328 09/23/09 Sev=Info/4 IPSEC/0x63700014 Deleted all keys 33 14:39:52.328 09/23/09 Sev=Info/4 IPSEC/0x63700014 Deleted all keys 34 14:39:52.328 09/23/09 Sev=Info/4 IPSEC/0x63700014 Deleted all keys 35 14:39:52.328 09/23/09 Sev=Info/4 IPSEC/0x6370000A IPSec driver successfully stopped Thank you for any help you can provide.

If there are problems, cd to the src directory and run make there cd src && make first gcc -c -I. -Iproto -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -DFEAT_GUI_GTK -I/usr/include/gtk-2.0 -I/usr/lib/gtk-2.0/include -I/usr/include/atk-1.0 -I/usr/include/pango-1.0 -I/usr/openwin/include -I/usr/sfw/include -I/usr/sfw/include/freetype2 -I/usr/include/glib-2.0 -I/usr/lib/glib-2.0/include -g -O2 -I/usr/openwin/include -o objects/buffer.o buffer.c In file included from buffer.c:28: vim.h:41: error: syntax error before ':' token In file included from os_unix.h:29, from vim.h:245, from buffer.c:28: /usr/include/sys/stat.h:251: error: syntax error before "blksize_t" /usr/include/sys/stat.h:255: error: syntax error before '}' token /usr/include/sys/stat.h:309: error: syntax error before "blksize_t" /usr/include/sys/stat.h:310: error: conflicting types for 'st_blocks' /usr/include/sys/stat.h:252: error: previous declaration of 'st_blocks' was here /usr/include/sys/stat.h:313: error: syntax error before '}' token In file included from /opt/local/bin/../lib/gcc/sparc-sun-solaris2.6/3.4.6/include/sys/signal.h:132, from /usr/include/signal.h:26, from os_unix.h:163, from vim.h:245, from buffer.c:28: /usr/include/sys/siginfo.h:259: error: syntax error before "ctid_t" /usr/include/sys/siginfo.h:292: error: syntax error before '}' token /usr/include/sys/siginfo.h:294: error: syntax error before '}' token /usr/include/sys/siginfo.h:390: error: syntax error before "ctid_t" /usr/include/sys/siginfo.h:398: error: conflicting types for '__fault' /usr/include/sys/siginfo.h:267: error: previous declaration of '__fault' was here /usr/include/sys/siginfo.h:404: error: conflicting types for '__file' /usr/include/sys/siginfo.h:273: error: previous declaration of '__file' was here /usr/include/sys/siginfo.h:420: error: conflicting types for '__prof' /usr/include/sys/siginfo.h:287: error: previous declaration of '__prof' was here /usr/include/sys/siginfo.h:424: error: conflicting types for '__rctl' /usr/include/sys/siginfo.h:291: error: previous declaration of '__rctl' was here /usr/include/sys/siginfo.h:426: error: syntax error before '}' token /usr/include/sys/siginfo.h:428: error: syntax error before '}' token /usr/include/sys/siginfo.h:432: error: syntax error before "k_siginfo_t" /usr/include/sys/siginfo.h:437: error: syntax error before '}' token In file included from /usr/include/signal.h:26, from os_unix.h:163, from vim.h:245, from buffer.c:28: /opt/local/bin/../lib/gcc/sparc-sun-solaris2.6/3.4.6/include/sys/signal.h:173: error: syntax error before "siginfo_t" In file included from os_unix.h:163, from vim.h:245, from buffer.c:28: /usr/include/signal.h:111: error: syntax error before "siginfo_t" /usr/include/signal.h:113: error: syntax error before "siginfo_t" buffer.c: In function `buflist_new': buffer.c:1502: error: storage size of 'st' isn't known buffer.c: In function `buflist_findname': buffer.c:1989: error: storage size of 'st' isn't known buffer.c: In function `setfname': buffer.c:2578: error: storage size of 'st' isn't known buffer.c: In function `otherfile_buf': buffer.c:2836: error: storage size of 'st' isn't known buffer.c: In function `buf_setino': buffer.c:2874: error: storage size of 'st' isn't known buffer.c: In function `buf_same_ino': buffer.c:2894: error: dereferencing pointer to incomplete type buffer.c:2895: error: dereferencing pointer to incomplete type *** Error code 1 make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `objects/buffer.o' Current working directory /home/xluntor/vim72/src *** Error code 1 make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `first' How do I fix the make errors? Or is there another way to install vim as non-root? Thanks in advance
