  • Using FFMPEG to reliably convert videos to mp4 for iphone/ipod and flash players

    I need to convert videos for use in both a flash player and the iphone/ipod touch. I'm using the following batch script with ffmpeg: @echo off ffmpeg.exe -i %1 -s qvga -acodec libfaac -ar 22050 -ab 128k -vcodec libx264 -threads 0 -f ipod %2 This always outputs an mp4 file, and I can always play it on my PC. The videos also seem to play fine on my iphone 3GS. But with some input files it won't work for older iphone versions (3G and iPod touch).   • AVAudioRecorder Memory Leak

    I'm hoping someone out there can back me up on this... I've been working on an application that allows the end user to record a small audio file for later playback and am in the process of testing for memory leaks. I continue to very consistently run into a memory leak when the AVAudioRecorder's "stop" method attempts to close the audio file to which it's been recording. This really seems to be a leak in the framework itself, but if I'm being a bonehead you can tell me. To illustrate, I've worked up a stripped down test app that does nothing but start/stop a recording w/ the press of a button.   • Slow synch of files form iPad to webserver?

    I'm building a recording iPad application that will take some moderately large recordings on the iPad (5-10 minutes of full audio roughly 5-10Megabytes in size.) How can I synch such large files to my web server for use? I want the synching to occur asynchronously in the background. Is there an existing library/utility to synch files in the Megabyte range from an iPhone/iPad to a server in small chunks?

    I have two routers, both wireless, that i wish to connect together. As it stands Router A is connected via a micro filter into the phone line which i access the web wirelessly. What I want to achieve is to connect Router B to A so I can hardwire My TV and Sky (cable) Box into B and simultaneously browse the web wirelessly via router A. Is this possible? If so I'd appreciate the help on this one to save me running 50ft cable under the carpet!!! PS I'm using Mac OS.

    Hi there, I've played a little bit with OpenAL, and I must say that it's pretty fast, even on the iPhone. However, I still got one problem. My app is recording the user voice, and repeats what he said using OpenAL. I've modified the AL_PITCH value, but it's currently also changing the speed, which I don't want to !     I have recently assembled a dual monitor setup. I often watch live.twit.tv in my browser and I would like to run it maximized while I do other stuff on second screen, but when I click on a desktop the full screen mode rolls back to normal view. The same case is for different Flash players and I believe Silverlight players suffer from the same problem. Is there any way to bypass this behavior?

    I'm mostly a Linux geek, but while I will be trying to make my first Arch Linux installation in a virtual machine to learn and make my installation script for the true install, I need a simple OS and Windows 7 was better than Windows XP Media Center cause Media Center is outdated on XP. I tested it has a beta but my Hauppauge wintv-pvr usb2 remote wasn't working but the tv-tuner worked well and I haven't tested Windows XP Mode and my printer Epson Stylus Photo R300. Do someone know this hardware and if the XP Mode is easily supported?

  • Streaming Netflix through Wifi kills all other devices

    I have a "Belkin N150" Router. My current setup is wired connection to my personal tv and xbox with wireless going to the Wii and Bedroom laptop. Anytime I try streaming Netflix Instant Queue on the Wii, every other device has problems. The Wii works fine but everything else's connection is destroyed. Streaming through the Xbox doesn't create any issues for other devices. What kind of issue is occurring and how can I fix it?

Suppose there are 2-4 splitters between the cable line coming into a building before the connection to a cable modem, does this negatively effect the latency, throughput, etc of a cable internet connection by any measurable amount?   • AVAudioPlayer won't play audio file after AVAudioRecorder

    I create a .caf audio file using AVAudioRecorder and if I try and play it back using AVAudioPlay I get no sound on the iPhone (if played in simulator works fine). If I close my application and reopen the file plays fine. Also I am not able to adjust the phone volume after recording unless I close and reopen my application. Any ideas?
