  • Sorting and displaying a custom QVariant type.

    Hello, I have a custom type I'd like to use with QVariant but I don't know how to get the QVariant to display in a table or have it sort in a QSortFilterProxyModel. I register the type with Q_DECLARE_METATYPE and wrote streaming operators registered via qRegisterMetaTypeStreamOperators but for whatever reason when I use the type with a table model, it doesn't display anything and it doesn't sort. I should specify that this custom type can not be modified. It has a copy and default constructor, but I can not go in and modify the source code to get it to work with QVariant. Is there a way of non-intrusively getting the behaviour I'd like?

    Is it possible to store a type name as a C++ variable? For example, like this: type my_type = int; // or string, or Foo, or any other type void* data = ...; my_type* a = (my_type*) data; I know that 99.9% of the time there's a better way to do what you want without resorting to casting void pointers, but I'm curious if C++ allows this sort of thing.

Consider the following code: public class Test<TKey> { TKey Key { get; set; } } public class Wrapper<TValue, TKey> where TValue : Test<TKey> { public TValue Value { get; set; } } Now, when using this code, I could do something like this: Wrapper<Test<int>, int> wrapper = new Wrapper<Test<int>, int>(); The int type parameter has to be provided twice. Is it possible to modify the Wrapper definition, to require TValue to be a generic type, and use this 'nested' generic type parameter insted of the TKey type parameter?

    I am from a Java background and I am looking from the equivalent in c# for the following. public interface Reader { <T> T read(Class<? extends T> type); } Such that I can do the following, constraining the parameter and inferring the return type. I have the function with following signature: void box_sort(int**, int, int) and variable of following type: int boxes[MAX_BOXES][MAX_DIMENSIONALITY+1] When I am calling the function box_sort(boxes, a, b) GCC gives me two warnings: 103.c:79: warning: passing argument 1 of ‘box_sort’ from incompatible pointer type (string where i am calling the function) 103.c:42: note: expected ‘int **’ but argument is of type ‘int (*)[11] (string where the function is defined) The question is why? Whether int x[][] and int** x (and actually int* x[]) are not the same types in C?

In fact, when ViewData["KeyForMyObject"] contains a string, int, or bool, myAction is able to retrieve the value. But, when it comes to objects, such as List, and dictionary, nothing happens. When I debug to check the local values, I see null for Type myObject in the MyMethod.     Hi, I'm trying to create a script that would determine if cookies are enabled and do some work if not. This is the code I use: var cookieEnabled = (window.navigator.cookieEnabled) ? true : false; if (typeof navigator.cookieEnabled == "undefined" && !cookieEnabled) { document.cookie = "testcookie" cookieEnabled = (document.cookie.indexOf("testcookie") != -1) ? true : false } if (cookieEnabled == false) { // do some work } The problem is that in IE8 it causes nothing to happen when I set cookies to be blocked in browser options. So, navigator.cookieEnabled is always true. This stuff works perfectly in Chrome and FireFox. Am I doing anything wrong?

    I am trying to remove the last <li> element from a <ul> element only if it exceeds a particular length. For this, I am doing something like this: var selector = "#ulelement" if($(selector).children().length > threshold) { $(selector + " >:last").remove(); } I don't like the fact that I have to use the selector twice. Is there a shorter way to do this? Something like a "remove-if-length-greater-than-threshold" idea. I was thinking that maybe there is a way to do this using the live() function but I have no idea how.

    Here's an interesting one for you folks... I have a HABTM (has_and_belongs_to_many) relationship between "Dogs" and "Trips". My goal is to find two result sets: 1) Dogs that have been on at least 1 of the last 3 trips and call that @dogs_current 2) Dogs that have NOT been on any of the last 3 trips and call that @dogs_old I found that I can find what the last 3 trips are by doing this in the Trip model: named_scope :last3, :order => 'date DESC', :limit => 3 But not sure how to use that list get 1 and 2. This hack works, but it seems ugly. There must be a better way! :) @dogs_current = [] @dogs_old = [] @dogs.each do |dog| if (Trip.last3 - dog.trips).size < 3 then @dogs_current << dog else @dogs_old << dog end end Any ideas?     I'd like to have a submit button that submits a different value than is displayed on the button. With <input type="submit"> you can't seem to do this. With <button type="submit"> however, these can be two different values. The question is, will it work in all browsers? Trying this test code here: <form method="get" action=""> <input type="text" name="txt"/> <button type="submit" name="btn" value="val">text</button> </form> In FF 3.6 it updates my address bar with both values appropriately (and responds to me pressing enter in the text box). In IE 8, it also accepts pressing enter, displays the text value in the address bar, but it show the button's value as a GET param at all... does that mean it's not submitting it?

Running this query returns an error: SELECT * FROM variants v ON v.id = ovv0.variant_id INNER JOIN option_values_variants ovv1 ON v.id = ovv1.variant_id INNER JOIN option_values_variants ovv2 ON v.id = ovv2.variant_id INNER JOIN option_values_variants ovv3 ON v.id = ovv3.variant_id INNER JOIN option_values_variants ovv4 ON v.id = ovv4.variant_id WHERE v.deleted_at = NULL AND v.product_id = 1060500595 However, if I set my datetime values to 0, and set my query to v.deleted_at = 0, the correct variant is returned to me. How do I check for uninitialized/NULL datetimes?

  • Best Approach for Checking and Inserting Records

    In one of our existing C programs which purpose is: Open connection to DB for record in all_record: if record contain certain data: if record is NOT in table A: // see #1 insert record information into table A and B // see #2 Close connection to DB select field from table where field=XXX 2 inserts This is typically done every X months to sync everything up or so I'm told. I've also been told that this process takes roughly a couple of days. There is (currently) at most 2.5million records (though not necessarily all 2.5m will be inserted). One of the table contains 10 fields and the other 5 fields. There isn't much to be done about iterating through the records since that part can't be changed at the moment. What I would like to do is speed up the part where I query MySQL. I'm not sure if I have left out any important details -- please let me know! I'm also no SQL expert so feel free to point out the obvious. I thought about: Putting all the inserts into a transaction (at the moment I'm not sure how important it is for the transaction to be all-or-none or if this affects performance) Using Insert X Where Not Exists Y LOAD DATA INFILE (but that would require I create a (possibly) large temp file) I read that (hopefully someone can confirm) I should drop indexes so they aren't re-calculated. mysql Ver 14.7 Distrib 4.1.22, for sun-solaris2.10 (sparc) using readline 4.3
