• Can't create VM with virt-install on Debian wheezy

  Cant find any answers anywhere so here goes. I am trying to CREATE a new virtual machine using the virt-install command from a console on a Debian wheezy install. I keep getting the following output: Starting install... ERROR internal error process exited while connecting to monitor: char device redirected to /dev/pts/1 inet_listen_opts: bind(ipv4,127.0.0.1,5951): Cannot assign requested address inet_listen_opts: FAILED I assumed that the port (5951 in this case) was being used judging by the error message and other sites I visited for an answer, but the same error occurs whatever number I use for the port. I cant see that port being listened upon in netstat either. Anyone have any ideas what may be wrong?

• Could not continue scan with NOLOCK due to data movement during installation

  Hi, I am running Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition R2 x64 and I installed SQL Server 2008 Developer Edition. All of the preliminary checks run fine (Apart from a warning about Windows Firewall and opening ports which is unrelated to this and shouldn't be an issue - I can open those ports). Half way through the actual installation, I get a popup with this error: Could not continue scan with NOLOCK due to data movement. The installation still runs to completion when I press ok. However, at the end, it states that the following services "failed": database engine services sql server replication full-text search reporting services How do I know if this actually means that anything from my installation (which is on a clean Windows Server setup - nothing else on there, no previous SQL Servers, no upgrades, etc) is missing? I know from my programming experience that locks are for concurrency control and the Microsoft help on this issue points to changing my query's lock/transactions in a certain way to fix the issue. But I am not touching any queries? Also, now that I have installed the app, when I login, I keep getting this message: TITLE: Connect to Server Cannot connect to MSSQLSERVER. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 67) For help, click: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?ProdName=Microsoft+SQL+Server&EvtSrc=MSSQLServer&EvtID=67&LinkId=20476 BUTTONS: OK I went into the Configuration Manager and enabled named pipes and restarted the service (this is something I have done before as this message is common and not serious). I have disabled Windows Firewall temporarily. I have checked the instance name against the error logs. Please advise on both of these errors. I think these two errors are related. Thanks

  Greeting, I have Windows Server 2008 Server Core. I want to configure this server to host php websites using IIS 7. I installed and configured IIS7 to run php using the steps in this website: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/philpenn/archive/2009/07/19/deploying-iis-7-5-fastcgi-php-on-server-core.aspx Now I’m facing a problem that when I request my php website I would get this error. Server Error 500 - Internal server error. There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed. I check the even log and I found these details too: Activation context generation failed for "C:\php\php-cgi.exe". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC90.CRT,processorArchitecture="x86",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="9.0.21022.8" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis. I search about this error and I found a solution for it but which is to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86). I installed but still I’m getting same error. Please help me to solve this problem and let me know if you want to know more info about my issue.

• Why don't SCOM R2 web console performance views load?

  When I select any performance view via my SCOM R2 web console, I get the following error: Unexpected error There was an error displaying the page you requested. ... and some suggestions about restarting my browser, which doesn't resolve the issue. • Why can’t two programs access my webcam simultaneously?

  I first launch cheese and my webcam turns on. However I find it curious as video4linux states: In general, V4L2 devices can be opened more than once. When this is supported by the driver, users can for example start a "panel" application to change controls like brightness or audio volume, while another application captures video and audio. My webcam is seen in lspci as 058f:a014 Alcor Micro Corp. Asus Integrated Webcam, but I don’t even know what the underlying driver is, so I can’t check whether my problem is driver-related or not. Any input would be more than welcome!

  Search Crawling is error out on my MOSS 2007 installation. I get the following error for all the web apps I have following error in Crawl logs. http://mysites.devserver URL could not be resolved. The host may be unavailable, or the proxy settings are not configured correctly on the index server. The Application Event log also has the following corresponding error The start address http://mysites.devserver cannot be crawled. Context: Application 'SSPMain', Catalog 'Portal_Content' Details: The URL of the item could not be resolved. The repository might be unavailable, or the crawler proxy settings are not configured. To configure the crawler proxy settings, use the Proxy and Timeout page in search administration. (0x80041221) I'm using Windows 2008 server. I tried accessing the site using the above mentioned url and its available. I did the registry setting for loop back issue found here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896861 still not luck. Any Ideas?

• Jabber Breaks in Empathy

  Using empathy in Ubuntu 10.04 (64 bit), everything worked great after initial setup. But after disconnecting and reconnecting, any Jabber connection (GTalk and Facebook Chat) gives a 'network error'. Tried disabling accounts and only connecting to GTalk, same error. Tried removing all accounts, adding GTalk, same error. Upgraded to the dev version of Empathy, connected once, then after going 'offline' and reconnecting, same error. If it just didn't work, I'd wait for some kind of fix. But it did work, but only once per install. How does that happen? Anyone with this problem that solved it?

• Errors when attempting to update source files, Server 2012R2 (errors 80073701 and 14081)

  I have a Windows Server 2012R2 machine that I installed with Server Core, and then decided that I wanted to switch to GUI. I'll make the long story short: I ran windows updates, and now the source files are older/out of sync with the operating system, and I need to update the source files. Here are a couple of articles that outline how this is supposed to work: http://blog.coretech.dk/kaj/why-i-cant-convert-my-windows-server-2012-r2-core-to-gui/ http://blogs.technet.com/b/joscon/archive/2012/11/14/how-to-update-local-source-media-to-add-roles-and-features.aspx I have followed these instructions, but the updates are not successfully updating the source. I get errors like: "An error occurred - Package_for_KB29671203 Error: 0x80073701, Error: 14081, The referenced assembly could not be found." or "add-windowspackage failed. error code = 0x80073701, add-windowspackage: the referenced assembly could not be found" I've extensively searched for help on those error codes related to Server 2012 and windows updates, but my google-fu is failing me. I am using windows update packages found in c:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download How can I get these updates to bring my source files up to current? Thanks!

• mysql.proc has gone corrupt. How can I fix it?

  I have a server running Debian 5.0, and MySQL. Suddendly, MySQL stopped working, and after many attempts to fix it, I decided to reinstall it. I installed MySQL 5.1.63, and when started it goes to safe mode. I made some typing, and when I executed mysql_upgrade as root, it complained: ... Running 'mysql_fix_privilege_tables'... ERROR 1548 (HY000) at line 1111: Cannot load from mysql.proc. The table is probably corrupted ERROR 1064 (42000) at line 1112: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'sqlstate 'HY000' set message_text='Unexpected content found in the performance_s' at line 1 ERROR 1548 (HY000) at line 1125: Cannot load from mysql.proc. The table is probably corrupted FATAL ERROR: Upgrade failed I checked the mysql.proc table, and it's comment column was slightly different from my backup. -- My backup says: `comment` char(64) CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_bin NOT NULL DEFAULT '', -- But it were: `comment` text CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_bin NOT NULL, So, I restored my mysql database backup, and now they all match, but mysql_upgrade still trigger the same errors. I also tried do check and repair the mysql.proc table, but got no success.

  I am trying to connect to my MSSQL server 2008 web instance and im failing horribly... i get the error 26 and before you jump on me i have done these Check the spelling of the SQL Server instance name that is specified in the connection string. Use the SQL Server Surface Area Configuration tool to enable SQL Server to accept remote connections over the TCP or named pipes protocols. For more information about the SQL Server Surface Area Configuration Tool, see Surface Area Configuration for Services and Connections. Make sure that you have configured the firewall on the server instance of SQL Server to open ports for SQL Server and the SQL Server Browser port (UDP 1434). Make sure that the SQL Server Browser service is started on the server. in addition to theese i have disabled the firewall completely and tried other ports nothing works the same credentials work on the server but not on the client. this is the exact error message A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. My first guess was that there's a Hardware problem of some sort and I asked my Hoster (it's a rented root server) to do a full hardwarecheck - they did, but couldn't find any problem. I don't know what and how they checked but their support team is usually quite good. I ran memtester and cpuburn myself and couldn't find any error either. Unfortunately I have no reliable way to reproduce these segfaults, they seem to be more or less random. On a hunch I disabled the firewall of the system and ran one of the programs that segfaulted regularily (imapsync) and it seemed to take longer to segfault than before, so the problem might be related to the network stack. Or could just be a random thing. • socket problem with MySQL

  This is a recent problem... MySQL was working and a couple of days ago I must have done something. I deleted MySQL and tried reinstalling using the .dmg file. The mysql.sock file never gets created and I get the following error messages: Hristo$ mysql Enter password: ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) I also tried stopping Apache and installing but Apache gave me an error... I don't know if this is good or bad: Hristo$ sudo apachectl stop launchctl: Error unloading: org.apache.httpd I tried the MacPorts installation as well but the socket file still didn't get created. I don't really know what to do and I don't want to reinstall Snow Leopard and start from scratch :/ I also tried installing the 32-bit version and same deal. No luck. Finally... I tried doing the source installation but when I get to the configuration step, I get the following error: -bash: ./configure: No such file or directory The file is "mysql-5.1.47-osx10.6-x86_64.tar.gz" so I think it is the proper file for source installation and yes I have a 64 bit system. • Solr error; JNDI not configured for solr; Anybody know what this means?

  I am installing solr on my VPS (Ubuntu 9.10) via PuTTY. First, I thought about installing Solr with Tomcat, but then after installing tomcat, I changed my mind and went for the Jetty which comes with Solr. Now that I have setup everything on my Server, and try to start the "start.jar" file, I get some errors...   OS X has build in support for going to certain Folders (Home, Utilities, Desktop, etc.) via a Shortcut. I wanted to emulate this behavior for the the Downloads Folder. • Page reload needed several times before loading normally

  Sorry my question is so vague I just have no idea where to start in solving it and am quite a novice with servers. Recently my site (an https connection, running on an Amazon EC2 ubuntu apache2.2) has this issue where I need to load the page several times (3-4) before it will load normally without issue. It will then load normally as long as I keep loading pages regularly (every couple seconds). It will stall again if I don't load pages for a few minutes. It has nothing to do with my application because I don't have this problem with the exact same app codebase on my Apache installation on my laptop. The only thing to my knowledge that I changed is that I installed mod_pagespeed https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/mod. However, I have since turned it off by setting my pagespeed.conf to mod_pagespeed off. Unfortunately, that didn't solve the problem. I'm wondering general advice on how to troubleshoot this problem. For instance are there linux commands to check page loading peformance?
