  hi, I wanted to make an application that will take either the path of the dll or Webservice and list me all the functions present in that dll. I accomplished the listing of the function using this but I am not able to list the functions of the Webservices. Using Assembly.GetMembers() it's listing the Function Name with the Parameters Type and I am not able to get the Parameters Name. How shall i get that? While debugging I found that m_parameters is a nonpublic member and i'm not able to get the Parameter name. Is that possible??? And one more question is how shall i list the functions available in the web service without including the web reference or service reference in the windows application using C#.

  We have a production environment configured with Puppet, and want to be able to set up a similar environment on our development machines: a mix of Red Hats, Ubuntus and OSX. As might be expected, OSX is the odd man out here, and sadly, I'm having a lot of trouble with getting this to work.   I am setting up a standard LEMP stack. My current setup is giving me the following error: 502 Bad Gateway This is what is currently installed on my server: Here's the configurations I've created/updated so far, can some one take a look at the following and see where the error might be? • Java Regex for matching hexadecimal numbers in a file

  So I'm reading in a file (like java program < trace.dat) which looks something like this: 58 68 58 68 40 c 40 48 FA If I'm lucky but more often it has several whitespace characters before and after each line. These are hexadecimal addresses that I'm parsing and I basically need to make sure that I can get the line using a scanner, buffered reader... whatever and make sure I can then convert the hexadecimal to an integer. • In WPF using a ListView is there an elegant way to auto resize items?

  I recently wrote, my first, WPF application that has a list of items that are polled from a web-serivce. The items are displayed/data-bound in a ListView via a GridView. A background thread periodically polls the web-serivce and updates the list. If, say, I had three items initially bound to the ListView that simply display a description and the three descriptions where something like: - ProjectA - ProjectB - ProjectC Later a new item is added with a description of 'AReallyReallyLongProjectName', I would end up with a list like: - ProjectA - ProjectB - ProjectC - AReallyR The GridViewColumn would not update it's width and would subsequently cut off any new items that extended the original width. I added this bit of code which forces the column to resize, but it just seems a little hacky. (Just seems weird to set a width just to set it back to nothing to force the resize) if(gridView != null) { foreach(var column in gridView.Columns) { if (double.IsNaN(column.Width) column.Width = column.ActualWidth; column.Width = double.NaN; } } Is there a better, more elegant solution, to accomplish this same thing?

• Looking for best practise for writing a serial device communication app in C#

  I am pretty new to serial comms, but would like advise on how to best achieve a robust application which speak to and listens to a serial device. I have managed to make use of System.IO.serialport, and successfully connected to, sent data to and recieved from my device. The way things work is this. My application connects to the Com Port and opens the port.... I then connect my device to the com port, and it detects a connectio to the PC, so sends a bit of text. it's really just copyright info, as well as the version of the firmware. I don't do anything with that, except display it in my 'activity' window. The device then waits. I can then query information, but sending a command such as 'QUERY PARAMETER1'. It then replies with something like: 'QUERY PARAMETER1\r\n\r\n76767\r\n\r\n' I then process that. I can then update it by sending 'SET PARAMETER1 12345', and it will reply with 'QUERY PARAMETER1\r\n\r\n12345\r\n\r\n'. All pretty basic. So, what I have done is created a Communication Class. this call is called in it's own thread, and sends data back to the main form... and also allows me to send messages to it. Sending data is easy. Recieving is a bit more tricky. I have employed the use of the datarecieved event, and when ever data comes in, I echo that to my screen. My problem is this: When I send a command, I feel I am being very dodgy in my handling. What I am doing is, lets say I am sending 'QUERY PARAMETER1'. I send the command to the device, I then put 'PARAMETER1' into a global variable, and I do a Thread.Sleep(100). On the data recieved, I then have a bit of logic that checks the incoming data, and sees if the string CONTAINS the value in the gloabl variable. As the reply may be 'QUERY PARAMETER1\r\n\r\n76767\r\n\r\n', it sees that it contains my parameter, parses the string, and returns the value I am looking for, but placing it into another global variable. My sending method was sleeping for 100ms. It then wakes, and checks the returned global variable. If it has data... then I'm happy, and I process the data. Problem is... if the sleep is too short.. it will fail. And I feel it's flakey.. putting stuff into variables.. then waiting... The other option is to use ReadLine instead, but that's very blocking. So I remove the datarecieved method, and instead... just send the data... then call ReadLine(). That may give me better results. There's no time, except when we connect initially, that data comes from the device, without me requesting it. So, maybe readline will be simpler and safer? Is this known as 'Blocking' reads? Also, can I set a timeout? Hopefully someone can guide me.

New contacts are added by pressing an appropriate button and they appear as an entry in the list on the form. I try now to add an edit button that will edit existing entries.   When I query Google Reader for the list of subscriptions for a user, it seems to be returned in a fixed order, no matter what the order is as shown at google.com/reader. (see http://www.google.com/reader/api/0/subscription/list for the list I'm talking about) Each subscription returns a 'sortid', which Google Reader uses when the user rearranges subscriptions, by sending back a concatenation of all sortids in the new order after rearranging is finished. However, that sortid never changes. So my question is this: How do I actually get the order the subscriptions are supposed to be in? I've been using http://code.google.com/p/pyrfeed/wiki/GoogleReaderAPI as a reference, but it is lacking in this department, and I haven't found anything anywhere else either.

• Can jQuery UI's Sortable handle complex selectors for the items option?

  I have list items in an unordered list that when double clicked, can be edited in place via a wysiwyg editor. $('ul.mtm_section').sortable({ disabled: true, distance: 10, items: '> li:not(:has(form))' }); My goal is to prevent the list item from being sorted while it is being edited - aka once a form element has been swapped in place of the contents. Unfortunately my selector for items is not working. Is sortable able to handle complex selectors like these? If not, are there other clever means to disable some items from being sortable, perhaps a callback function? I would prefer to rely on this sortable option, as the wysiwyg plugin is deeply nested with jEditable and as far as I know does not open up any events for me to hook into. • Maintaining sort order of database table rows

  Say I have at database table containing information about a news article in each row. The table has an integer "sort" column to dictate the order in which the articles are to be presented on a web site. How do I best implement and maintain this sort order. The problem I want to avoid is having the the articles numbered 1,2,3,4,..,100 and when article number 50 suddenly becomes interesting it gets its sort number set to 1 and then all articles between them must have their sort number increased by one. Sure, setting initial sort numbers to 100,200,300,400 etc. leaves some space for moving around but at some point it will break. Is there a correct way to do this, maybe a completely different approach? Added-1: All article titles are shown in a list linking to the contents, so yes all sorted items are show at once. Added-2: An item is not necessarily moved to the top of the list; any item can be placed anywhere in the ordered list.

  I have a web page which display a list of items in a HTML table. Above the list is a form which allows the user to add a new item to the list via AJAX (using Ajax.BeginForm). When the data is posted to the controller via AJAX I add the new item to the database backend and generate a new table row via a Partial View which then gets appended to the exisiting table. When the form to add new items however contains errors, I want to render the form back to the web browser and display that. So here is the question: Is it possible to specify the UpdateTargetId from within the controller? At the moment whatever View I return from the controller gets inserted in the same target, but I would like to update a different target (ie. different UpdateTargetId) based on whatever view was returned from the controller. Any help would be appreciated...

  I've mapped my domain users to a remote share, and I'm trying to get rid of the security warning that appears whenever a file is run from the remote share. I've tried adding the FQDN to the intranet list with no prevail and I'm starting to go crazy. I've also turned off IE Enhanced Security Configuration for both Admins and Users. The group policies are being applied, and I can see the FQDN in the intranet list in internet options. Relevant group policy: Relevant security warning:

• Where do objects merge/join data in a 3-tier model?

  Its probarbly a simple 3-tier problem. I just want to make sure we use the best practice for this and I am not that familiary with the structures yet. We have the 3 tiers: GUI: ASP.NET for Presentation-layer (first platform) BAL: Business-layer will be handling the logic on a webserver in C#, so we both can use it for webforms/MVC + webservices DAL: LINQ to SQL in the Data-layer, returning BusinessObjects not LINQ. DB: The SQL will be Microsoft SQL-server/Express (havent decided yet). Lets think of setup where we have a database of [Persons]. They can all have multiple [Address]es and we have a complete list of all [PostalCode] and corresponding citynames etc. The deal is that we have joined a lot of details from other tables. {Relations}/[tables] [Person]:1 --- N:{PersonAddress}:M --- 1:[Address] [Address]:N --- 1:[PostalCode] Now we want to build the DAL for Person. How should the PersonBO look and when does the joins occure? Is it a business-layer problem to fetch all citynames and possible addressses pr. Person? or should the DAL complete all this before returning the PersonBO to the BAL ? Class PersonBO { public int ID {get;set;} public string Name {get;set;} public List<AddressBO> {get;set;} // Question #1 } // Q1: do we retrieve the objects before returning the PersonBO and should it be an Array instead? or is this totally wrong for n-tier/3-tier?? Class AddressBO { public int ID {get;set;} public string StreetName {get;set;} public int PostalCode {get;set;} // Question #2 } // Q2: do we make the lookup or just leave the PostalCode for later lookup? • Prolog: using the sort/2 predicate

  So I'm trying to get rid of the wrapper clause by using the sort library predicate directly inside split. What split does is just generating a list of numbers from a list that looks like this: [1:2,3:2,4:6] ---split-- [1,2,3,2,4,6]. But the generated list contains duplicates, and I don't want that, so I'm using the wrapper to combine split and sort, which then generates the desired result: [1,2,3,4,6]. I'd really like to get rid of the wrapper and just use sort within split, however I keep getting "ERROR: sort/2: Arguments are not sufficiently instantiated." Any ideas? Thanks :) split([],[]). split([H1:H2|T],[H1,H2|NT]) :- split(T,NT). wrapper(L,Processed) :- split(L,L2), sort(L2,Processed).

• linq "let" translation

  I understand that when the C# compiler sees a linq query comprehension, it basically does a straight translation to the corresponding Linq Extension methods and lambdas. i.e. from x in list select x.property gets translated to: list.Select(x => x.property) my question is what do let clauses get translated to. for example how would this get translated by the compiler. from x in list let v = SomeComplexExpressionDependingOnx select v (p.s. i know this could be reduced to just select SomeComplexExpressionDependingOnx but i want to know how this is done in general) Thanks!
