Rails model to represent multiple fields

I'm developing a rails project where I have one data model with multiple fields that are collection selects. I'd like to create another model to represent all of these collection select fields. So, for instance, my main data model has three collection select fields -- one for county, one for category, and one for classification. I could separate these into three separate data models, but that seems redundant since they all share the same characteristics. They have a type and a value, like a county is a county and it has a value of let's say Sonoma, just as category has a type of category and a value of let's say Winery. If you've ever used Drupal, I'm basically looking for the behavior of the taxonomy functionality. So you see my dilemma: I need to separate these fields into three separate fields but they have very similar data structures. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Array with mutiple types?

Hello, I was wondering if there is a way to make an array which would have mutiple types of data fields. So far i was using aMyArray: array of array [0..1] of TPoint; But now, it is not enough for me. I need to add 3 more elements to the existing 2 "Point" elements making it an array like aMyArray: array of (TPoint,TPoint,real,real,real) So each element of aMyArray would have 5 'children', 2 of which are of a TPoint type and 3 of them are 'real' type. Is this possible to implement somehow?

C input loop for shell

So I'm working on creating a very simple C program that just preforms shell commands. This is what I have so far: #include <stdio.h> int main() { char input[30]; fputs("$ ", stdout); fflush(stdout); fgets(input, sizeof input, stdin); system(input); } It works, but only for one command. For example if I compile and type ./cmd I get the $ prompt. If I type ls I get what I'm supposed to get. But then it exits and goes back to the regular system shell. How can I make it so after the user types a command it goes back to the "$" input.

Get name and value from the input tag

Before you say "oh no, not again" here I'm stating my case. I'm parsing part of HTML output and the only thing I'm interested in is name and value attributes of each <input/ tag. HTML is actually HTML fragment, may not be well-formed. I don't have DOM or HTML parser and I don't try to parse nested elements anyway. The problem is that I don't know the order or number of attributes so it could be <input name="foo" value="boo"/> or <input type="hidden" name=foo> or <input id=blah value='boo' src="image.png" name="foo" type="img"/>. Is there a single regular expression that would get me values of name and value attribute in predictable order? I wouldn't have asked the question if I could assume that name attribute always precedes value but unfortunately this is not the case

Hi there Google ask you to add a javascript code to your page and it will generate the links. The script has some id which are sent to the server, but I don't know how. <script type="text/javascript"></script><script type="text/javascript" src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js"></script> I'm curious to know how the client and slot ids are send to the server. Javascript is client side and I wish to know how those parameters are sent to the server in order to query a db and to return the links. JPA @version - can it be used to calcualate version of a table entry

Hi, Please consider the following table (created using a corresponding entity) request ------- id requestor type version items 1 a t1 1 5 2 a t1 2 3 3 b t1 1 2 4 a t2 1 4 5 a t1 3 9 The above is what I want to achieve. The version field is a calculated field others are user provided. Basically the request's version needs to be calculated based on the combination of requestor and the type. The first occurance with a given combination will have a version 1 then version 2 and so on. I tried various things using @version on a different entity with just the three columns and joining the two entities using ManytoOne etc but I'm not able to get to the desired outcome. I dont want to confuse you with the things I tried. Since the objective is simple there should be an easier way I suppose? Can you please help? - any help greatly appreciated! thanks in advance

Proper use of use of "cor" function in R

I am interested to know what a proper x (vector matrix or data frame) input looks like. I am currently using the function in two different sorts of matrices. However, I am not sure how R would interpret my data the way I intend. I will explain the types of matrix by example. Type 1 Gene1 Gene2 Gene3 sample1 sample2 Type 2 Sample1 Sample2 Sample3 gene 1 gene 2 gene 3 Are either of these formats valid x parameters? I input both of types of matrices and get some results, but without knowing whether or not this a proper use the function, these are just random numbers. Thank you for your time. Javascript error in Setting focus to a textbox inside a lightbox(Overlay) window.

Hi All, I have a textbox, a button and a "AdvancedSearch" link on my aspx page. On page load, the focus is set to the textbox. On click of the "AdvancedSearch" link, a lightbox(overlay) window will be opened. I want to set focus to a textbox present within this lightbox window. I am using javascript to achieve this. The code looks somewhat like this: if( element.type != "hidden" && element.style.display != "none" && !element.disabled ) { element.focus(); return; } when the lightbox window loads, i get a javascript error - "Can't move focus to the control because it is invisible, not enabled, or of a type that does not accept the focus" Any idea why this error is thrown and why it is not able to set focus to the textbox in the lightbox window? is it possible to insert a new element to std::set like in case of std::list for example: //insert one element named "string" to sublist of mylist std::list< std::list<string> > mylist; mylist.push_back(std::list<string>(1, "string")); Now, mylist has one element of type std::string in its sub-list of type std::list. How can you do the same in if std::set is the sub-set of std::list my list i.e std::list<std::set <string>> mylist; if you can't then why not?

Google maps api v3: geocoding multiple addresses and infowindow

I am trying to get infowindow for multiple addresses. Its creating markers but when I click on markers, infowindow is not popping up. Please help and see what could be wrong in this code. Repeating characters in VIM insert mode

Is there a way of repeating a character while in Vim's insert mode? For example, say I would like to insert 80 dashes, in something like emacs I would type: Ctrl+U 8 0 - The only way I know how to do it in VIM is to exit normal mode for the repeat argument, then go back into insert mode to type the dash, then exit to insert the actual dashes, AND then go back into insert mode to carry on typing. The sequence is a really long: <ESC> 8 0 a - <ESC> a It would be nice not to switch in and out of modes. Thanks

Say I got this sql schema. Table Job: id,title, type, is_enabled Table JobFileCopy: job_id,from_path,to_path Table JobFileDelete: job_id, file_path Table JobStartProcess: job_id, file_path, arguments, working_directory There are many other tables with varying number of columns and they all got foreign key job_id which is linked to id in table Job. My questions: Is this the right approach? I don't have requirement to delete anything at anytime. I will require to select and insert mostly. Secondly, what is the best approach to get the list of jobs with relevant details from all the different tables in a single database hit? e.g I would like to select top 20 jobs with details, their details can be in any table (depends on column type in table Job) which I don't know until runtime. Okay so given a LinkButton inside a the ItemTemplate of a Repeater declared like this - <asp:LinkButton ID="restrictionDelete" runat="server" CssClass="restrictionDelete" Text="Delete..." OnCommand="lnkDeleteRestriction_Command" CommandName="Delete" CommandArgument="<%# Container.DataItem %>"></asp:LinkButton> Now,..the repeater is being bound to a list of Restriction objects so when the lnkDeleteRestriction_Command is fired I'm expecting that I can cast the CommandEventArgs.CommandArgument which is an object to my Restriction type. This doesn't seem to be so,..I just get the fully qualified type name as a string. Can I receive a typed command argument at all and if not, why is it an object? Thanks in advance,

It says about the type option of the jQuery.ajax() method that The type of request to make ("POST" or "GET"), default is "GET". Note: Other HTTP request methods, such as PUT and DELETE, can also be used here, but they are not supported by all browsers. So... Does that mean that PUT and DELETE won't work if the browser does not support it, or just that PUT and DELETE can not be done natively by the user in the browser? If I can't or shouldn't use those, what do people usually do instead? Send the method as a a GET or POST parameter instead? Or?

When i created an object of type myClass on my machine using VBScript, everything is working fine... here i used the CreateObject() method as shown below: Set myObj = CreateObject("myDll.myClass") Now i want to create an object of type myClass from VBScript that is running on another machine, how can i do this. please help me how can i access that dll file, am using the CreateObject() function as shown below: Set HD = CreateObject("myDll.myClass","myMachineName") now am getting error as "permission denied"

Listing C/C++ functions (Code analysis in Unix)

Whether we're maintaining unfamiliar code or checking out the implementation details of an Apache module it can help if we can quickly traverse the code and build up an overview of what we're looking at. Grep serves most of my daily needs but there are some cases where it just wont do. Here's a common example of how it can help. To find the definition of a PHP function I'm interested in I can type this at the command line: grep -r "function myfunc" . This could be adapted very quickly to C or C++ if we know the return type, but things become more complicated if, say, I want to list every method that my class provides: grep "function " ./src/mine.class.php Since there's no single keyword that denotes a function or method in C++ and because it's generally more complex syntax, I think I'd need some kind of static code analysis tool, smart use of the C Preprocessor or blind faith the coder followed strict code guidelines (# of whitespace, position of curlies etc) to get these sorts of results. What would you recommend? p.s. be nice, this is my first post ;-) :p

For generic IDictionary, we can use reflection to get the generic arguments, which has been answered here. But for non-generic IDictionary, for instance, HybridDictionary, how can I get the key and value types? Thanks. Edit: I may not describe my problem properly. For non-generic IDictionary, if I have HyBridDictionary, which is declared as HyBridDictionary dict = new HyBridDictionary(); dict.Add("foo" , 1); dict.Add("bar", 2); How can I find out the type of the key is string and type of the value is int?
