• Difference between macros and functions in C in relation to instruction memory and speed

  To my understanding the difference between a macro and a function is, that a macro-call will be replaced by the instruction in the definition, and a function does the whole push, branch and pop -thing. Is this right, or have I understand something wrong? Additionally, if this is right, it would mean, that macros would take more space, but would be faster (because of the lack of the push,branch and pop instructions.), wouldn't it?

  I'm implementing a compiler in my Compilers class, I'm using Qt & C++. After I have generated the machine code from the source code, I'm executing the virtual machine that will execute the call. I'm facing a problem here, I'm using readyRead() signal to get output from the virtual machine, but how can I know that the virtual machine wants to read data from the user? So Notepad can get the text without any color or font...etc, and you still can keep the original format when you paste in another Wordpad window.   I have two servers, let's call them first and second. First one is where the real development is done, and second one should be the replica. What I would like to do is put "git push" in post-receive, but there is one problem. Post-receive is executed as the user doing git push to first server, so I can't chmod 600 ssh key with no pass. • Alternative for didSelectRowAtIndexPath when UITableViewCells are UIResponders?

  The cells in my tableview are horizontal UIScrollViews, which I assume is the reason didSelectRowAtIndexPath is not being called. I have my resignFirstResponder call in that method. Does anyone have an easy way for me to fix this? Is there an alternative to didSelectRowAtIndexPath? Or is there a way to get that method to fire? Thanks!

• Problem using FormView to insert.

  I have a formview control, and on the ItemCreated event, I am "priming" some of the fields with default values. However, when I try to use the formview to insert, before the ItemInserting event gets called, for some reason it calls ItemCreated first. That results in the fields being over-written with the default values right before the insert happens. How do I get it to not call the ItemCreated event before the ItemInserting event?

• if curl getinfo for HTTP CODE is not returning a code!?

  Hi, I am doing a normal curl call to a webservice and I grab the return HTTP code through $code = curl_getinfo ($ch, CURLINFO_HTTP_CODE); It does return me $code as 200 - which is good. But logging the curl calls now from a week, there where few calls to the same webservice which didn't return anything! so basically I am getting $code as blank.   I'm working on a simple framework, and I'm having a slight problem. I'd like to use call_user_function_array() to pass parameters to a function. That's fine, except the function I want to pass it to is __construct. I can't create an instance of an object with cufa(), and by instantiating an object, and then using cufa to call that instance's __construct(), I run into problems with a broken class because I'm calling the constructor twice (and one time it's called wrong.)

  If I do something like this in ColdFusion: <cfoutput>foo="#foo()#"</cfoutput> The resulting HTML has a space in front of it: foo=" BAR" However, if it is not a function call it works fine, i.e.: <cfset fooOut=foo() /> <cfoutput>foo="#fooOut#"</cfoutput> Gives this output: foo="BAR" Where is this extra space coming from and is there anything I can do about it?
