  • Extending AdapterView

    - by Ander Webbs
Hi, i'm trying to make (for learning purposes) my own implementation of a simple AdapterView where items comes from an basic Adapter (ImageAdapter from sdk samples). Actual code is like this: public class MyAdapterView extends AdapterView<ImageAdapter> implements AdapterView.OnItemClickListener{ private ImageAdapter mAdapter; public MyAdapterView(Context context, AttributeSet attrs, int defStyle) { super(context, attrs, defStyle); initThings(); } private void initThings(){ setOnItemClickListener(this); } @Override public ImageAdapter getAdapter() { // TODO Auto-generated method stub return mAdapter; } @Override public void setAdapter(ImageAdapter adapter) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub mAdapter=adapter; requestLayout(); } View obtainView(int position) { View child = mAdapter.getView(position, null, this); return child; } @Override protected void onLayout(boolean changed, int l, int t, int r, int b) { super.onLayout(changed, l, t, r, b); for(int i=0;i<mAdapter.getCount();i++){ View child = obtainView(i); child.layout(10, 70*i, 70, 70); addViewInLayout(child, i, null, true); } this.invalidate(); } @Override public void onItemClick(AdapterView<?> parent, View v, int position, long id) { Log.d("MYEXAMPLES","Clicked an item!"); } } This isn't a coding masterpiece, it just displays a pseudo-listview with pictures. I know i could've used ListView, GridView, Spinner, etc. but i'm relative new to android and i'm trying to figure out some things on it. Well, the question here is: Why is my onItemClick not firing? Using the same ImageAdapter with a GridView, everything works ok, but when i use with above class, i get nothing. Inside AdapterView.java there is code for those click, longclick, etc events... so why can't i just fire them? Maybe i'm misunderstanding basic things on how AdapterView works? Should I extend other base classes instead? And why? Hoping to find more experienced guidance on here, thanks in advance.

  • Production debugging: Is there a less intrusive way than WinDbg?

    - by Alex
Hi, I was wondering if there is a less intrusive way to analyze a running, managed process in production environments. Less intrusive meaning: No delay of execution when attaching the debugger. No delay of execution when getting basic stats like running threads. In the Java world there is a such a tool part of the JDK. I was wondering if there're similar tools in the .NET world. Any ideas? • Resources for writing kernel in C

    - by anon
I don't want to write my own boot loader -- happy to use Grub. I just want to implement pre-emptive multi threading, a basic file system, and virtual memory. I want something that can run on top of qemu. What's a good resource (book / tutorial) for accomplishing this goal? Thanks!

    - by Jurily
I have the following struct: [StructLayout(LayoutKind.Sequential, Pack = 1)] struct cAuthLogonChallenge { byte cmd; byte error; fixed byte name[4]; public cAuthLogonChallenge() { cmd = 0x04; error = 0x00; name = ??? } } name is supposed to be a null-terminated ASCII string, and Visual Studio is rejecting all my ideas to interact with it. How do I set it?

  • Disable AND Grey out an eclipse widget

    - by Fredrik
I have a org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Composite that I want to be able to enable/disable programatically. The org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Control.setEnabled(boolean enabled) method works fine, but it does not give any visual information that the widget(s) are disabled. What I would like to do is to have the disabled state mean the widgets are greyed out. Right now they just enter a weird state where the user is unable to click or perform any action on them.

  • How does the Ableton warp algorithm work exactly?

    - by pepperdreamteam
I'm looking for any documentation or definitive information on Ableton's warp feature. I understand that it has something to do with finding transients, aligning them with an even rhythm and shifting audio samples accordingly. I'm hoping to find ways to approximate warping with more basic audio editing tools. I understand that this is ableton's unique device, really any information about how it works would be helpful. So...does anyone have any 411?

  • How does google swirl work?

I have seen this type of effect on a visual thesaurus. Is there any open source code for this. I don't care about the algorithm to match similar objects. I only am wondering about the effects.

  • Java: Check what processes are bound to a port?

    - by bguiz
Hi, I am developing an application in Netbeans, and it is using JavaDB. I can connect to it and execute queries without issues, but for some reason, the "Output - JavaDB Database Process" pane within Netbeans keeps displaying Security manager installed using the Basic server security policy. Could not listen on port 1527 on host localhost: java.net.BindException: Address already in use How do I find out what process is already using, or bound to that port? On Ubuntu Karmic, Netbeans 6.7.1

  • Best C++ development environment in Linux

    - by Bruce
I have some experience with Eclipse and Qt creator and am somewhat disappointed in their debuggers, less so in their editors. On Windows, I like Visual Studio for debugging and SlickEdit for editing (SE is also available on Linux). Is there an IDE that is somehow better than the two mentioned?

  • Why should I be using testing frameworks in PHP?

    - by Industrial
Hi everyone, I have recently heard a lot of people argue about using PHP testing features like PHPunit and SimpleTest together with their IDE of choice (Eclipse for me). After googling the subject, I have still a hard time understanding the pros and cons of using these testing frameworks to speed up development. If anyone could explain this for me in a more basic level, I would really appreciate it. I am using PHP5 for the notice. Thanks a lot!

  • [Flex] Caching canvas into ByteArray

    - by Eugene
Task: (all in code, not visual) create a canvas, place into it some labels and draw some lines, then cache it as byteArray. The problem is that if I cache an object that is already drawed on the screen, it works great, but if I cache a canvas, that have been created few lines earlier, this results white image. Is there any solution to cache a display object, that was created in code, but not intended to be displayed at all?

  • Diminishing programmer wants to get back to programming

    - by Marcus TV
I last programmed actively in 2002. It is almost 8 years now. I learned C and then moved to Visual Basic for our thesis project in the university. I would like to ask suggestions on what programming language should I learn and put to profitability use in areas such as desktop applications, web development, and database applications.

  • Does EGit mandate installing JGit?

    - by Souper
After using Git from the command line for a while, I am ready for the convenience a GUI plugin (for Eclipse) can offer. However, I prefer a Git plugin similar to to MS Visual Studio's Git Source Control Provider which is only a wrapper around the already installed msysgit. I really don't want two different Git implementations accessing the same repository. EGit sounds perfect - if it can use the already installed msysgit in my PC. But can it?

  • In partial view: "The model item passed into the dictionary is of type"

    - by Dave
I lack understanding of some basic MVC concepts, despite all my searching. I created an MVC project in Visual Studio, which contains the partial view _LogOnPartial.shtml. I just want to access information within the view pertaining to the user, to put in a user dropdown menu. When I try to put this at the top of the partial view cshtml page I get the above error: @model MyProject_MVC.Models.UserRepository When I try this I also get an error: @Html.Partial("_LogOnPartial", MyProject_MVC.Models.UserRepository) 'MyProject_MVC.Models.UserRepository' is a 'type', which is not valid in the given context

  • SharePoint 2007 Approval Workflow - Any other person can approve requirement

    - by dsibley
How can I use SharePoint's Content Approval to enforce the rule that any two people in a group can make a change? We have a policy library that any two individuals can update (a modifier and an approver). If I do a group parallel approval, the modifier can approve their own work (I believe). Unfortunately, I don't have access to Visual Studio or even SharePoint Designer (as these have been disabled by corporate).

  • Can someone who understands C code help me understand this code?

    - by Benjamin
INT GetTree (HWND hWnd, HTREEITEM hItem, HKEY *pRoot, TCHAR *pszKey, INT nMax) { TV_ITEM tvi; TCHAR szName[256]; HTREEITEM hParent; HWND hwndTV = GetDlgItem (hWnd, ID_TREEV); memset (&tvi, 0, sizeof (tvi)); hParent = TreeView_GetParent (hwndTV, hItem); if (hParent) { // Get the parent of the parent of the... GetTree (hWnd, hParent, pRoot, pszKey, nMax); // Get the name of the item. tvi.mask = TVIF_TEXT; tvi.hItem = hItem; tvi.pszText = szName; tvi.cchTextMax = dim(szName); TreeView_GetItem (hwndTV, &tvi); //send the TVM_GETITEM message? lstrcat (pszKey, TEXT ("\\")); lstrcat (pszKey, szName); } else { *pszKey = TEXT ('\0'); szName[0] = TEXT ('\0'); // Get the name of the item. tvi.mask = TVIF_TEXT | TVIF_PARAM; tvi.hItem = hItem; tvi.pszText = szName; tvi.cchTextMax = dim(szName); if (TreeView_GetItem (hwndTV, &tvi)) //*pRoot = (HTREEITEM)tvi.lParam; //original hItem = (HTREEITEM)tvi.lParam; else { INT rc = GetLastError(); } } return 0; } The block of code that begins with the comment "Get the name of the item" does not make sense to me. If you are getting the listview item why does the code set the parameters of the item being retrieved, because if you already had the values there would be no need to retrieve them. Secondly near the comment "original" is the original line of code which will compile with a varning under embedded visual c++, but if you copy the exact same code into visual studio 2008 it will not compile. Since I did not write any of this code and am trying to learn is it possible the original author made a mistake on this line, since the *pRoot should point to and HKEY type yet he is casting to an HTREEITEM type which should never work since the data types don't match? (Side note someone with a better reputation should add a windows ce tag to SO since windows mobile is not the same as windows ce.)

  • How do efficiently display items on Google map in the viewing range of the user?

    - by Cory
When a user moves the Google map, I would like to display items in the viewing range of the user automatically. How can I efficiently and quickly display the items? I have basic understanding of calling getBounds() method every time the user moves the map, but I am not sure how I can efficiently search and get from my database the items within the lat/lng of the bounds of the current viewport. Is there easier and faster way of doing this?
