    The underlying provider failed on Open is an entity framework error and with a simple fix it is little difficult to sort out what is going wrong. 1) if you are using IIS 7 with Integrated Security in connection string.     Microsoft has recently launched Razor view engine with ASP.NET MVC RC2. It’s going to be promising one. There are lots of features bundled with this view engine. But in earlier version of ASP.NET 3 MVC. We were are not having Synatx intellisense provided for asp.net mvc views  in Visual Studio 2010. So either we have to depend third party tools like Resharper or we have to manage it without intellisesnse. But with ASP.NET MVC 3 RC2 Microsoft has moved one step forward and its providing syntax intellisense without installing any third party addons in Visual Studio. Here is example of it.   • Recommended Books for OpenGL [closed]

    I'm fairly new to OpenGL and I'm have been researching any books that would be beneficial, I've had suggested to me (I've finished reading the OpenGL Book online): Real Time Rendering GPU Gems 3 OpenGL Super Bible Does anyone know any other books that they've found useful in the past, even if it covers higher level algorithms. Also, can anyone suggest an IDE/Text Editor for Linux? I'm using Komodo and it's super buggy, I just booted into Windows today and tried Visual Studio and loved it, is their anything similar for Linux? Although, the books I've been reading are saying to not use IDEs, partly because of the reliance you place onto them, per se. I use Eclipse a lot for my Java programming, can I use C and OpenGL with that? Lastly, do you think it would be more beneficial staying on Windows and programming in C/OpenGL on their, I do like Linux, but I found Visual Studio to be pretty good in some aspects?

  • Need some help deciphering a line of assembler code, from .NET JITted code

    In a C# constructor, that ends up with a call to this(...), the actual call gets translated to this: 0000003d call dword ptr ds:[199B88E8h] What is the DS register contents here? I know it's the data-segment, but is this call through a VMT-table or similar? I doubt it though, since this(...) wouldn't be a call to a virtual method, just another constructor. I ask because the value at that location seems to be bad in some way, if I hit F11, trace into (Visual Studio 2008), on that call-instruction, the program crashes with an access violation. The code is deep inside a 3rd party control library, where, though I have the source code, I don't have the assemblies compiled with enough debug information that I can trace it through C# code, only through the disassembler, and then I have to match that back to the actual code. VMT-table is only for virtual isn't it? and this is constructor Could the constructor have yet to be JITted, which could mean that the call would actually call through a JIT shim? I'm afraid I'm in deep water here, so anything might and could help. Edit: Well, the problem just got worse, or better, or whatever. We are developing the .NET feature in a C# project in a Visual Studio 2008 solution, and debugging and developing through Visual Studio. However, in the end, this code will be loaded into a .NET runtime hosted by a Win32 Delphi application. In order to facilitate easy experimentation of such features, we can also configure the Visual Studio project/solution/debugger to copy the produced dll's to the Delphi app's directory, and then execute the Delphi app, through the Visual Studio debugger. Turns out, the problem goes away if I run the program outside of the debugger, but during debugging, it crops up, every time. Not sure that helps, but since the code isn't slated for production release for another 6 months or so, then it takes some of the pressure off of it for the test release that we have soon. I'll dive into the memory parts later, but probably not until over the weekend, and post a followup.

The web service is running on Glassfish and is soap 1.1, I've tried using all the packaged wcf bindings but have not been able to get them to work. I started down the path of using a MessageInspector, and wrote one but then realized there must be a better way, surely WCF provides some way to insert saml 2.0 assertions. I've made the most progress writing a custom binding - i've been able to get the timestamp and signature nodes in the soap header, but cannot for the life of me figure out the saml assertion.     Hi, We have a web application, running in an application pool as 'NETWORK SERVICE'. The web application connects to a service (.svc) on another web server. The other web server also has the service hosted as 'NETWORK SERVICE'. I believe this is the default. The following endpoint, when run anywhere else works perfectly. <endpoint address="http://server123/UnitTrustService/UnitTrustService.svc" binding="wsHttpBinding" bindingConfiguration="WSHttpBinding_UnitTrustService" contract="UnitTrustServiceReference.UnitTrustService" name="WSHttpBinding_UnitTrustService"> <identity> <servicePrincipalName value="server123" /> </identity> </endpoint> Unfortunately when executed from the web site, we get the following error. System.ServiceModel.Security.MessageSecurityException: The identity check failed for the outgoing message. The expected identity is 'identity(http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2005/05/identity/right/possessproperty: http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2005/05/identity/claims/upn)' for the 'http://server123/UnitTrustService/UnitTrustService.svc' target endpoint. The web service is running on Glassfish and is soap 1.1, I've tried using all the packaged wcf bindings but have not been able to get them to work. I started down the path of using a MessageInspector, and wrote one but then realized there must be a better way, surely WCF provides some way to insert saml 2.0 assertions. I've made the most progress writing a custom binding - i've been able to get the timestamp and signature nodes in the soap header, but cannot for the life of me figure out the saml assertion.   • Windows Start Menu Not Staying on Top

    Hey everyone. I've had this problem since Windows Vista. I did a clean install with Windows 7 and hoped it would fix the problem. Also swapped out the video card just to rule out a strange driver issue. Here's what's happening. After running for some period of time (usually a few hours), the Start button/orb will loose it's "Chrome" and turn into a plain button that just says "Start." It will work fine for a while, but then the start menu will just stop showing. Additionally, when I hit Win+D to show the desktop, the entire taskbar completely disappears. I can get it back usually by moving/minimizing windows that may be overlapping where the start menu should show. Otherwise, it requires either a full reboot or I'll end up killing & restarting the explorer.exe process.   • Windows 7 - Wireless Signal Good - Internet Often Says Limited or No Activity

    Hi - I have a New Dell Studio XPS latop that I hooked up in early January of 2010. The Dell Studio XPS laptop is connected to my wireless router (Belkin Wireless N). The router was purchased in Februaru of 2010 because I thought my router was bad (A D-Link router). Comcast is my ISP. Everyday, at random times, the internet will have a good signal (according to the little Win 7 icon on the taskbar) but I will receive a message saying limited or no internet access and I cannot access the internet. I have the internet setup to automatically get an IP and I did the IPCONFIG release / renew but with no success. I even had a WiFi enabled Blackberry right next to my computer and whenever the computer loses an WiFi connection, so does the Blackberry. The router isnt't bad, because the old router did the same thing - giving me limited or no internet access while working sometimes. I also tried using two other laptops in same physical position as my Dell Studio XPS laptop and they have the same problem. I am going crazy trying to figure this out as I have called the Router Company (Belkin), my ISP (Comcast), and my computer maker (Dell). Can anyone offer some suggestions and I can try them as we work through this and maybe one of the suggestion will be right one. Thanks in advance for even reading my problem. I searched for a problem similar to mine on the internet, but I have not been able to keep a steady internet connection. (Side note - I used to have an IBM thinkpad laptop and D - Link router and for years that wireless connection worked FLAWLESSLY, with the same physical set up - the laptop in my bedroom, and the router in the basement.)

    Hi I have the following problem: when starting Visual Studio 2008, it says "Cannot find one or more components. Please reinstall the application." and stops. I tried to manually copy the older atl90.dll 9.0.30729.1 with the result that Visual Studio works again. Now I call this a dirty workaround, and not a solution. Plus I still don't know the reason why the atl90.dll disappeared in the first place. So my questions: - Does anyone know of a reason why this might have happened? - Does anyone know a real solution to the problem, e.g. a Microsoft download that includes the atl90.dll in the correct version 9.0.30729.4148 that installs into WinSxS?   • Where is the TFS database?

    I've been using TFS 2010 with no problems. I tried adding a user and I got the following error message. "TF30063: You are not authorized to access <serverName>\DefaultCollection. -The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized." I remoted into the server, <serverName>, and opened the TFS Console. The logs mentioned a connection string: ConnectionString: Data Source=<serverName>\SS2008;Initial Catalog=Tfs_DefaultCollection;Integrated Security=True While remoted in I open SQL Server 2008 Management Studio opening the (local) server with Windows Authentication. It shows the connection to be (local)(SQL Server 9.04.03 - <serverName>\Admin), and there is no Tfs_DefaultCollection database. Can someone tell me what is going on? Was I wrong in connecting to this instance of the database (i.e. Is the log file the wrong place to find the connection string)? Is the database so corrupted that SQL Manager Studio cannot see it anymore, although TFS could? Should I be logging into Management Studio as user SS2008? btw I don't know of any such credentials.

  • Queries passed to SQL Server are getting corrupted

    We are experiencing a bizarre error with our application at a customer site. We have managed to narrow it down to the point where we can replicate the behaviour using just Management Studio and SQL Server. We have two machines, A and B: +------------+ +--------------------+ | [A] | | [B] | | Management | -------------- | SQL Server 2008 R2 | | Studio | | Enterprise x64 | +------------+ +--------------------+ We are running a SQL script in Management Studio on machine A against the SQL Server instance on machine B. We are not actually executing the script, just parsing it. Most of the time, the parse operation works fine. Occasionally (seemingly randomly), the parse operation fails with a syntax error. The error message shows the part of the script with the error, which appears as some SQL from the original script that has been truncated and has random characters appended to it. An example: The original SQL: SELECT DISTINCT ST.TABLE_NAME as TableName FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.TABLES AS ST INNER JOIN INFORMATION_SCHEMA.COLUMNS AS SC ON SC.TABLE_NAME = ST.TABLE_NAME WHERE ST.TABLE_TYPE = 'BASE TABLE' AND SC.COLUMN_NAME = 'Identity' AND ST.TABLE_NAME != 'dtproperties' ORDER BY ST.TABLE_NAME The SQL that is in error (as reported by SQL Server): SELECT DISTINCT ST.TABLE_NAME as TableName FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.TABLES AS ST INNER JOIN INFORMATION_SCHEMA.COLUMNS AS SC ON SC.TABLE_NAME = Sa? The above example shows how the query is being corrupted. It doesn't always happen, and is not always the same bit of SQL that causes the error. Parsing this script against another SQL Server instance produces no errors, showing that the script is fine. It appears that something is corrupting the SQL that is being received the the server. This leads me to think that the problem lies either with the client end or in the transmission of the SQL from the client to the server. I have a SQL trace from the period where an error occurs, which shows the SQL has been corrupted when SQL Server receives it. We have been unable to track down any possible cause of this behaviour, and so cannot find a fix. Because the errors occur seemingly randomly, it is also very hard to generate reproduction steps to submit a bug report. Any ideas?

  • How can I get Pinch to Zoom back in Desktop mode?

    Windows 7 had an old implimentation of Pinch to Zoom where bringing your fingers apart/together would act similar to ctrl + +/-, the standard zoom. It's not as nice as granular zoom (like iOS/Android use) but it worked. Most notably it doesn't work in Chrome (did before) but I haven't noticed it working in any other apps. In windows 8 desktop mode, pinch to zoom doesn't seem to work at all. It doesn't even work in One Note 2010, which, if I recall correctly, had granular zoom in Windows 7. I have an (older) 2 touch point multi-touch monitor, and I can see the visual feedback that the two touch points and coming closer/farther apart, but it doesn't zoom. Note I'm using the touchscreen, not a touchpad or the Arch mouse or other peripherals. Can I enable this somehow or is it gone from Desktop mode? It works fine in Metro apps. Additionally I get weird visual feedback when placing my second finger on the screen; a shrinking transparent square appears somewhere between the two fingers, visually similar to the Right Click visual queue when long-pressing. It's not a right click though, I can't tell what, if anything, it's doing.
