• WCF timeout exception on calling service on 11th time

  I'm creating a WCF service and stumbled with request timeout problem. When I load test the service the 11th call always fails with "System.Net.WebException: The operation has timed out". I have read that would happen if serviceThrotling is set to defaults so I added following lines to my service configuration file <behavior name="ServiceBehavior"> <!-- ... --> <serviceThrottling maxConcurrentCalls="100" maxConcurrentSessions="100" maxConcurrentInstances="100" /> </behavior> But this doesn't help. I thought that closing the proxy might be a problem, but I do close all proxies. try { response = service.GetCustomerHdQuotes(request); } finally { try { if (service.State != CommunicationState.Faulted) service.Close(); else service.Abort(); // Abort if the State is Faulted. } catch (Exception) { service.Abort(); } } I also have an idea that inside service some resources pile up preventing service to accept new connections, but the fact that this is always 11th request points that this is more likely due to some configuration problems. However, this is not the case, the message is logged twice (one in each log file). Looks like the ERROR logging level for the parent category is not taken into consideration when the event is sent as part of additivity... is my observation correct or am I missing something ? how should I alter the configuration in order to achieve only ERROR level loggings in server.log ? thanks, GBa.

  I have a project that I am working on that requires the use of the Mysql Connector for NHibernate, (Mysql.Data.dll). I also want to reference another project (Migrator.NET) in the same project. The problem is even though Migrator.NET is built with the reference to MySql.Data with specific version = false, it still tries to reference the older version of MySql.Data that the library was built with instead of just using the version that is there.. and I get the exception listed in the title: ---- System.IO.FileLoadException : Could not load file or assembly 'MySql.Data, Version=1.0.10.1, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=c5687fc88969c44d' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040) The version I am referencing in the main assembly is 6.1.3.0. How do I get the two assemblies to cooperate? • Problem upgrading eclipse rcp app from 3.3 to 3.5 on Mac OS

  I previously had an eclipse rcp app based on eclipse 3.3 pugins deployed on both windows and mac OS X 10.4. i'm now trying to port the app to java 1.6 and eclipse 3.5 (Build id: 20100218-1602) plugins on Mac OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard). I can launch the product from eclipse 3.5 on windows but not on Mac OS X. I have the 64bit cocoa eclipse IDE and java 6. In the launch configuration I set runtime JRE to JVM 1.6.0 and added required plugins. • Try/Catch with jquery ajax request

  I am trying to build a Google Chrome extension that makes an ajax request. Something similar to the GMail Checker extension. The problem is that when I do the request using jquery, and I put in the wrong username/password, it fails silently, with the error callback function ignored. If I move the ajax call out of the background.html script (where I can't see the requests in the developer window), to the options.html script, I get a dialog box to re-authenticate. If I hit cancel, THEN the jquery error callback fires. But in the original model extension (again, the Gmail checker), they use plain (non-jquery) ajax calls with a try/catch, and if I put in the wrong credentials, I get an alert saying as much. I tried wrapping the entire jquery call in a try/catch, like so: try { $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: someurl, contentType : "text/xml", data: somedata, username: user, password: pass, success: function(data,status,xhr){ alert("Hurrah!"); }, error: function(xhr, status, error){ alert("Error!" + xhr.status); }, dataType: "xml" }); } catch(e) { alert("You messed something up!"); } But still nothing. Is the error due to it being asynchronous, or is Chrome not returning the request as an error since it wants to re-prompt for credentials? Or do I just not know how to use try/catch? • Castle Windsor with ASP.NET MVC 2 Areas

  Been lurking for a few months and decided to jump in with a question. I am very new to Windsor and IoC in general. I can get Windsor to work with my MVC2 project with no problem. The project I am working on is a "portal" of multiple applications under one MVC2 project using the new Areas concept. In this scenario, each Area will actually be a separate application inside the "portal". We are doing this to effectively share a LOT of common code, views, authentication, and cross-application functionality. Many of our apps link to one another, so it made sense after discussing it to combine them into one project. What I am wondering how to do is actually allow different Areas to inject different concrete classes? In my limited understanding, the Application_Start is governing building the container and assigning it as the controller factory. I don't necessarily want to do all the injection at the application level. We have a config system where we have a config.xml at the root of every Area and those settings override any root settings. I would like to continue that trend by having the injections for each Area be read by the Area's config.xml (an inheritance similar to Webforms web.config where the config in a lower folder overrides settings in a parent folder). Example: I would have an ILogHandler which would need a different concrete implementation depending on which Area of the application I am in. So I would need to inject something different depending on where I am at in the application. I can easily do this using factories since each area could have it's own set of factories, but I am attempting to take this opportunity to learn about IoC and what the benefits/drawbacks are. • -[CFString length]: message sent to deallocated instance 0x3881940 when i scroll to near the bottom

  Hey guys, i've got a problem debugging an iphone app that i'm attempting to write and it's got me stumped, bear with me, i'm a n00b to programming and might get some of the terminology wrong but i'll try to explain it as best as i can. The app gets an XML doc from the a web site, parses it into an array, and then displays it in a table view, i have the parser in a separate file. The ViewDidLoad in RootViewController sends it a url, the parser goes to work and then returns an NSMutableArray. When i run the app it works fine with small XML files (5 entries or so, and 1-3 sections), but when i use a larger one(20+ rows, over 12 sections) i get the error "-[CFString length]: message sent to deallocated instance 0x3881940" when i scroll near the bottom of the tableview, just as the last section title is about to come onto the viewable area on the screen to be precise. if i return a static string instead of the object in my array in this method it doesn't crash, but i can use NSLog to call the array and it returns the title no problems. - (NSString *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView titleForHeaderInSection:(NSInteger)indexPath { return [[returnedEvents objectAtIndex:indexPath ] objectAtIndex:0]; } The returnedEvents array isn't released until -(void) dealloc {} I have read a few other posts on here, and a few guides on debugging and as of yet am unable to find anything that was able to help me, i'd be more than happy to post some code up here and any more information, i'm just not sure where to start... Thanks in advance for anyone willing to have a go at helping me out.

• How to use Guice in Swing application

  I have a Swing application that I would like to convert from spaghetti to using dependency injection with Guice. Using Guice to provide services like configuration and task queues is going great but I'm now starting on the GUI of the app and am unsure of how to proceed. The application is basically a JFrame with a bunch of tabs in a JTabbedPane. Each of the tabs is a separate JPanel subclass that lays out the various components and needs services to perform actions when certain buttons are pressed. In the current application, this looks somewhat like this: @Inject public MainFrame(SomeService service, Executor ex, Configuration config) { tabsPane = new JTabbedPane(); // Create the panels for each tab and add them to the tabbedpane somePanel = new SomeTabPanel(service, ex, config); tabsPane.addTab("Panel 1", somePanel); someOtherPanel = new SomeOtherTabPanel(service, ex, config); tabsPane.addTab("Panel 2", someOtherPanel); ... do more stuff } Obviously, this doesn't exactly follow DI best practices. I don't want to have to @Inject the tabs because that would get me a constructor with dozens of parameters. I do want to use Guice to inject the required dependencies into whatever tab objects I need without me having to pass all of those dependencies to the tab constructors. All of the dependencies for the tab objects are services that my Module knows about, so basically all I think I want to do is to ask Guice for the required objects and have them constructed for me.

  How is that for a lot of acronyms! I am having trouble testing GWT's RPC mechanism using GWT's GWTTestCase. I created a class for testing using the junitCreator tool included with GWT. I am attempting to test using the built in Google App Engine using the created "hosted mode" testing profile created by junitCreator. When I run the test, I keep getting errors saying things like Starting HTTP on port 0 HTTP listening on port 49569 The development shell servlet received a request for 'greet' in module 'com.google.gwt.sample.stockwatcher.StockWatcher.JUnit.gwt.xml' [WARN] Resource not found: greet; (could a file be missing from the public path or a <servlet> tag misconfigured in module com.google.gwt.sample.stockwatcher.StockWatcher.JUnit.gwt.xml ?) com.google.gwt.user.client.rpc.StatusCodeException: Cannot find resource 'greet' in the public path of module 'com.google.gwt.sample.stockwatcher.StockWatcher.JUnit' I hope that someone somewhere has successfully run junit test (using GWTTestCase or just plain TestCase) that will allow for the testing of gwt RPC. If this is the case, could you please mention the steps you took, or better yet, just post code that works. Thanks.

• Android -- How to position View off-screen?

  Hello all, I'm trying to animate a simple ImageView in my application and I want it to slide in from the bottom of the screen and come to a resting position where the top 50px of the view is off the top of the screen (e.g. the final position of the ImageView should be -50px in X). I've tried to use the AbsoluteLayout to do this, but this actually cuts off the top 50px of the ImageView such that the top 50px is never rendered. I need to have the top 50px of the ImageView visible/rendered while it's animating and then simply have it come to a rest slightly off-screen. I hope I've explained that well enough. • Error in WCF service - Silverlight client communication.

  I created a WCF service and I planned to consume this in a Silverlight application. So I created the WCF service in the Website host project. The service is a simple WCF service that only returns a number - something like a Hello World WCF-SL. So after adding a service reference in the silverlight client project to the Service URI, after calling async the service method (by using the generated proxy), I get the following exception in the callback method: An error occurred while trying to make a request to URI 'http://localhost:4566/SLService.svc'. This could be due to attempting to access a service in a cross-domain way without a proper cross-domain policy in place, or a policy that is unsuitable for SOAP services. You may need to contact the owner of the service to publish a cross-domain policy file and to ensure it allows SOAP-related HTTP headers to be sent. This error may also be caused by using internal types in the web service proxy without using the InternalsVisibleToAttribute attribute. Please see the inner exception for more details. I only created a HelloWorld WCF service with nothing else but a simple method that returns a dumb number and it's hosted on my locally. Must I have clientaccesspolicy.xml or crossdomain.xml? I acces my service locally. Every time I create a new simple/dumb WCF-SL solution, I get this error. I use VS2010 and Silverlight 4. I cannot get a simple/dumb WCF-SL solution working locally. Is there something wrong with the configuration? On another machine in the same network, it does work properly, so I assume something is misconfigured. Any thoughts?

  Hello, I am at the moment creating a matrix which is showing how far Knopflerfish, Equinox and Felix are OSGi 4.2 compliant. So far I looked at the Knopflerfish documentation (Link 1, Link 2) to get an idea of how much of the Core and Compendium specs are actually implemented. The core specification seems to be fully implemented, although there are some inconsistent statements about the Security Layer and the Declarative Services. What makes me wonder is how much of all the Compendium specs are implemented: Remote Services Log Service Http Service Device Access Configuration Admin Service Metatype Service Preferences Service User Admin Service Wire Admin Service IO Connector Service Initial Provisioning UPnP Device Service Declarative Services Event Admin Service Deployment Admin Auto Configuration Application Admin DMT Admin Service Monitor Admin Service Foreign Application Access Blueprint Container Tracker XML Parser Service Position Measurement and State Execution Environment To find out more I downloaded (Download page) the source code of Knopflerfish and had a look at it. It looks like some parts of the spec are implemented through the "original" framework provided by the OSGi Alliance (org.osgi.*). One example is the UPnP package: Does this mean that missing parts which are not directly implemented by Knopflerfish are added through the "original" OSGi framework? And does this also apply to other frameworks like Felix or Equinox?

  I wanted to make a GWT widget using UiBinder. So I made: UserPanel.ui.xml like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <ui:UiBinder xmlns:ui='urn:ui:com.google.gwt.uibinder' xmlns:g='urn:import:com.google.gwt.user.client.ui'> <ui:with field="res" type="com.example.resources.UserPanelResources" /> <g:VerticalPanel styleNames='{res.userpanel.main}'> ...some other widgets go here... </g:VerticalPanel> </ui:UiBinder> UserPanel.css like this: .main { width: 1000px; background-color: #f9f9fa; padding: 15px 10px; font-family: "Georgia"; } and UserPanelResources.java like: public interface UserPanelResources extends ClientBundle { public interface UserPanelCss extends CssResource { String main(); } @Source("css/userpanel.css") UserPanelCss userpanel(); } All the files and packages are in their place, as everything compiles just fine. But when I run the Development Mode, the styles are not applied! I tried many different approaches, but it still doesn't work. What I noticed, is that in the HTML, the VerticalPanel is given the class name obfuscated by GWT, but the CSS is not send to the browser - in fact, the GWT doesn't even ask for it. Am I missing something?

• Eclipse RCP: Using different JUnit version (4.3.1) than shipped with eclipse galileo (4.5.0)

  Hallo, I have the following situation: We are developing an Eclipse RCP Application and want to switch from Eclipse 3.4 to Eclipse 3.5. Our JUnit-Tests are using JUnit 4.3.1 and we have a launch configuration to start our test suite. I think I don't need to go into more details here. The problem is: Running the tests with Eclipse 3.5 does not work: JUnit cannot find any annotations in the test classes (neither (at)Test nor (at)RunWith). I patched the junit library with some logging output to check what is going on. I found out that this problem is a classloading issue: The test class passed to JUnit 'lies in' a ClassLoader which is different from the one JUnit uses to load the annotation classes like 'RunWith'. This is not the case in Eclipse 3.4 in org.junit.internal.requests.ClassRequest: public Runner getRunner() { log("TestClass ClassLoader: "+this.fTestClass.getClassLoader()); log("RunWith.class ClassLoader: "+RunWith.class.getClassLoader()); ... // validating test class: searching for annotations and more } The first line prints another classloader than the second line. This is bad because JUnit cannot match the annotations in the test class with the Annotation-Class (here: RunWith.class): "RunWith" in CL1 is not equal to "RunWith" in CL2. I have a solution which points to the core problem: Replace JUnit 4.5 in Eclipse Galileo with JUnit 4.3.1 so that there is only one JUnit-Version: The Test-Run and the tests classes are both using JUnit 4.3.1 (I had to patch "org.eclipse.jdt.junit4.runtime" to accept an ealier junit version). I think I can also replace JUnit 4.3.1 in my test class with Version 4.5, but that is not an option yet. Guess: The classloaders are different because the classes 'come from' different JUnit-Bundles: the testclass with its annotations from version 4.3.1 and the test runs in version 4.5 What I want to know: Is there any other solution besides patching Eclipse (replace JUnit versions)? Any commandline argument or such? Any configuration to force Eclipse to Use JUnit 4.3.1? Any hints on the above described analysis are welcome!

• Can't ssh to ec2 permission denied (publickey)

  I have existing instances running and I can connect to them fine. Even if I start a new instance from one of my saved ami's I can connect to it fine but any new public or community ami (I've tried 2 offical Ubuntu ami's and 1 Fedora quickstart ami) I get permission denied (publickey). The permissions are good on my key file. I've also tried creating a new keyfile. My ec2 firewall rules are good, I've also tried creating a new group.   I have the problem where i have a WPF RichTextBox, and i'm extracting its XAML code and saving it to a txt file. When i copy paste the XAML code generated to a XAMLtoHTML converter like this http://blogs.msdn.com/wpfsdk/archive/2006/05/25/606317.aspx , some error must be occuring as i'm always getting a blank result!   I have been using Windows 7 for a while but have not had to work with a particular legacy intranet application since my upgrade. Unfortunately, this application is setup as an ASP.NET Website project hosted on a remote server. When I have the website open in Visual Studio 2008 and try to debug it I get the following compiler error: Request for the permission of type 'System.Web.AspNetHostingPermission' failed To resolve this issue on Windows Vista machines, I would change the machine's .NET Security Configuration trust level to full for the local intranet (fix outlined here). I believe this configuration utility relied upon the mscorcfg.msc which from some cursory research appears to be apart of the .NET 2.0 SDK. I have tried to follow the instructions from this Microsoft Support article running the command below to no avail. • Property being immediately reset by ApplicationSetting Property Binding

  I have a .net 2.0 windows application written in c#, which currently uses several project settings to store user configurations. The forms in the application are made up of lots of user controls, each of which have properties that need to be set to these project settings. Right now these settings are manually assigned to the user control properties. I was hoping to simplify the code by replacing the manual implementation with ApplicationSettings Property Bindings. However, my first property is not behaving properly at all. The setting is an integer, used to record a port number typed into a text box. The setting is bound to an integer property on a user control, and that property sets the Text property on a TextBox control. When I type a new value into the textbox at runtime, as soon as the textbox loses focus, it is immediately replaced by the original value. A breakpoint on the property shows that it is immediately setting the property to the setting from the properties collection after I set it. Can anyone see what I'm doing wrong? • Using Entity Framework with an SQL Compact Private Installation

  I am using Entity Framework 4 in a desktop application with SQL Compact. I want to use a private installation of SQL Compact with my application, so that my installer can install SQL Compact without giving the user a second installation to do. It also avoids versioning hassles down the road. My development machine has SQL Compact 3.5 SP1 installed as a public installation, so my app runs fine there, as one would expect. But it's not running on my test machine, which does not have SQL Compact installed. I get this error: The specified store provider cannot be found in the configuration, or is not valid. I know some people have had difficulty with SQL Compact private installations, but I have used them for a while, and I really like them. Unfortunately, my regular private installation approach isn't working. I have checked the version numbers on my SQL CE files, and they are all 3.8.8078.0, which is the SP2 RC version. Here are the files I have included in my private installation: sqlcecompact35.dll sqlceer35EN.dll sqlceme35.dll sqlceqp35.dll sqlcese35.dll System.Data.SqlServerCe.dll System.Data.SqlServerCe.Entity.dll I have added a reference to System.Data.SqlServerCe to my project, and I have verified that all of the files listed above are being copied to the application folder on the installation machine. • Salesforce/PHP - outbound messages (SOAP) - memory limit issue

  I'm using Salesforce to send outbound messages (via SOAP) to another server. The server can process about 8 messages at a time, but will not send back the ACK file if the SOAP request contains more than 8 messages. SF can send up to 100 outbound messages in 1 SOAP request and I think this is causing a memory issue with PHP. If I process the outbound messages 1 by 1 they all go through fine, I can even do 8 at a time with no issues. But larger sets are not working. ERROR in SF: org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: Premature end of file Looking in the HTTP error logs I see that the incoming SOAP message looks to be getting cut of which throws a PHP warning stating: Premature end of data in tag ... PHP Fatal error: Call to a member function getAttribute() on a non-object This leads me to believe that PHP is having a memory issue and can not parse the incoming message due to it's size. I was thinking I could just set: ini_set('memory_limit', '64M'); But would this be the correct approach? Is there a way I could set this to increase with the incoming SOAP request dynamically?
